Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare - Gen. Discussion & Info

Right now I snipe in every map I play because I am trying to do the challenges, I don't camp I move around the map but I swing wide around the corners to avoid the more CQC spots
I Love shipment and Wet work, Two of the bests maps in my opinion.

Ive been playing alot of sabotage lately...reminds me of Capture the flag but with Explosives!
Yeah, Wet Work is by far my favorite map. I usually play HQ and am always hoping that I get this map.
So... Anyone else currently unable to get into a game?
Yes. XBL is having issues.

Also Shipment is fun, but it gets pretty old fast.

As for sniping. It's pretty much awesome. If you move around the map and constantly move, looking for choke points especially in HQ, it helps your team a ton. Also, you'd be surprised at how good the pistol is. Even on HQ, if my team needs people to rush the HQ to capture or destroy, expect me to be there with a pistol. Usually 2-3 shots to take someone down with stopping power on.

Wetworks is probably the worst HQ map after shipment. Shipment isn't even headquarters its just TDM with instant spawning. Wetworks has the worst spawning for HQ's out of any map, and the one room where it spawns with only 1 way up is hardest one to take back out of any other HQ's. Combine that with the fact it isnt ever actually contested due to being given to the team controlling that side of the map makes it retarded.

I hate wetworks :(

Man, without squads based commands COD4's single player is fucking worthless.

Given the fact that I am playing on vet so instant kills are plentiful.

Its not even the fact that I want them to shoot someone.....its the fact that even though I seem to be part of a "squad" I find myself alone 99% of the time because my team wont move with me. They would much rather stand in a circle jerk while I run to the next spot alone. Thus many many many many instant kills from the 5 guys that have magically found a way to sneak past my jerking squad mates to shoot me in the back.

The multilayer is worth the price of admission alone but this single player is just plain lazy.

There is hard.
Then there is cheap as a 2 dollar hooker.

I cant wait to finish vet then go back and play it on an easier setting so I can actually enjoy the game.

Yeah, I was getting pretty annoyed at my squad replaying on Hardened.

Mainly I had the damn friendly fire resets. Those are just lame. Especially when your dumbass squad mates keep running right infront of you when your shooting at someone else. :bomb:

Multiplayer is incredible though, finally got it fired up for 2.5 hours after XBL came back up tonight. Damn addictive with the leveling up, challenges to upgrade weapons etc. I think I quit at level 8, and had got the red dot sight for my M16.

Definitely hold my own a bit better in this game than in Halo 3...though I still suck. :D

Hahah. I remember I almost threw my controller through my screen on Mile High Club, when with about 15 seconds left, one of my squadmates, turned around (out of my sight) ran backwards towards me, and I headshotted him, ending the mission. Really annoying.
Is Veteran as hard in COD4 as it is in COD2? If so then fuck that.
I thought COD2 was tougher. I only played it on PC though.

The chokepoint in the huge room full of workstations/TVs? I was stuck there for a while too, was a pain in the butt to find cover where I wasn't getting 3 grenades constantly thrown at me.

I don't know whether to shake the hand of or punch the man who beats One Shot One Kill, Mile High Club, or No Fighting In the War Room on Veteran.

The last one is only stupid because you are the only one who advances.
Finally finished "Charlie Don't Surf" on Veteran. Damn that battle in the station was tough as hell, I must really suck or something.
yeah this one was a pain - I ended up just making a dash from the right side and frag and flashed a couple times and got back in that room where they all were coming from and hid out and let my guys take care of them except the few strays who came after me.

I had a hard time with it on regular, and a bitch of a time on hardened. Can't imagine it on veteran.

It sucks on Veteran. It feels like they keep respawning in there. I was lucky enough to complete the entire game on veteran 2 days ago. Was stuck on Mile High Club for 3 days until I used a guide on Youtube.

Yeah, that's exactly what I did. I ran to the right when first entering the room and then picked off a few of the guys who run in and then I crouched walked and killed two more who were still there and then ran into that room on the right which seemed to of stopped the respawning. Then my guys took care of the remaining guys on the second floor and I completed it.

Now I have to defend that damn tank... this should be fun.

I would say that COD4 is more cheap than COD2 on vet.

It was annoying sure but COD4 takes it to a whole new level of cheepness.

Here its like......PLEASE PLEASE..while I am shooting the 45 guys to the left can anyone one of the fucking 5 of you shot the ONE guy who shoots me in the back every time.

COD4 on vet is less about playing though the game and more about trail and error.

I am right past One shot One kill on vet and I have no idea what the hell is going in the story other than kill this main bad guy. Not because I didnt pay attention but because it really hard to put together a story when you spend 2 and a half hours on the same 42 second part before your figure out your suppose to go left then right THEN LEFT.

One of the biggest problems of this game is that even with all the dying at the same spot the game DOES NOT let you preform any actions smarter than your last.

Example. I know there is a guy in this doorway around the corner. I know this beacuse I have died 8 times while trying to walk through said doorway. BUT if I throw a grenade into the room before actually exsposing myself to get killed the game will not registery that, that person should be dead. See the game wants you to get fired upon first and then deal with the problem after.

Looking for some people to get on my firends list to play sometime. I just hit level 25 last night and would like some poeple to play with. Just send me an invite and next time I'm on I'll accept.
anyone else having a hard time getting into games lately? getting really annoying
Xbox live is mostly down. Was last night for hours, then came back and went down again around 2pm EST.

lol those are the three missions I have saved for last and have yet to beat.

I'm still on the fence or not about whether I am the type to go after the ach pts and the bragging rights of torturing myself by going through veteran, or if I am the type that just says fuck it, i don't care.

One playthrough on hardened was a friggin blast though. the campaign is soooooo good.

I'm doing alright now I'm at "Shock and Awe", so far the most difficult mission on Veteran so far has been the firefight at the television station in "Charlie Don't Surf." I'm sure I'll be eating my words once I get to the last three missions of the game though.

Is online working for anyone else? When I try it says "You must have an active online connection to play." I got this yesterday and have yet to be able to play it online :whistle2:(

See I would argue that there are no bragging rights for beating COD4 on Vet.

I only play through single player games once...thats it. So I always play on the hardest setting regardless because I know for a fact I will never come back to it again. So I have had my share of hard games on their hardest setting.

But I wouldnt say this game is hard.

Someone who accomplished something hard has the right to brag. Winning a 5 mile race against the top runners in the world is hard and you should be happy to have done it.

Running that same race with a guy whose only job is to trip you every 5 seconds is not hard....its just stupid.

Anybody can beat COD4. You just throw your body into the game a million times and eventually you will find the right path. There is nothing really hard about that......just time consuming and cheap.

God, I have no idea what to do in the last part of "One Shot, One Kill!" The swarms all kill me before the helicopter is even 5000 M away!

Dude.

I have a perfect way to beat that part easy. *Note I found this after I got the checkpoint before the 3 heli come in to drop off more bad guys.

Once you get to the ferris wheel right when the 3 helicopter come to drop more bad guys.

From the ferris wheel. Run straight towards a white wooden fence on the right hand side.

There is an alley way there......on the left across from what looks like a stoop (front porche) there is a little "cubby" hole where one building starts and the other on starts. That looks like this. On your way to it though drop some C4 next to the fence and by the cars.

If you crouch down in there you wont even have to shoot a single bullet. Although grenades will spawn to the right of you they wont kill you...just wait it out. Just wait there until the heli comes and then run like a fucking mad man to it. Remember to blow the C4 that you planted along the way to kill the 50 guys who will be standing there.

Now you will still have to go get Mac but your heli squad should protect you while you get his crippled ass up and back to the heli.

Easy as pie dude. Hope you understand what I am talking about...whish I could make a video for it.

Alright then....Just beat COD4 on Vet including Mile High Club.

Nice rap song at the end of the game.

Overall it was meh out of meh. Maybe this will be one of the few single player games that I will actually go back and play. But on Vet it was far to annoying and cheap to enjoy it.

On to multiplayer.

So I think I fixed my connection problems and I can finally play a game..

..now if only it'll put me with the CAG group instead of making it literally every CAG in the room against me and a bunch of random people.

So, it seems to me that during these past couple of crappy XBL days an update hit. You can now blow up your own Claymores. Killed myself today by shooting one for fun...=/

Got my K/D ratio up a WHOLE .07 XD. It's now 1.89. I was leve 55 and started up Prestige mode... So pointless. I 100% regret doing it. Just got 100 kills with the M21 and M140A3 snipers. Finishing up the Dragunov right now. I'm trying to get all the weapons challenges completed. The other challenges can wait for a bit. I still hate the headshot challenges though. I average 1/3 of my shots with Sniper Rifles being headshots, but for all the other guns about 1/10th of my shots are headshots.
fun games tonight trakan, jimmie, cheapy, and DC. it was fun playing against scorch lol
I played for like five minutes. It's really no fun shooting up like 6 CAG'ers with a team of random strangers.

I am a bit confused. Is that place accessible BEFORE the 3 helicopters come?

I guess it's because Domination is a group of 6 v 6

I die a lot in this game..When it first came out I borrowed it from my friend and had at least a 1.2 K/D. Not the greatest ratio but now its like a .9 or something

Yeah, I get my ass kicked too. Especially last night when Live came back up for me.

Guess only the diehards were playing. Even though I was a level 8 when I started (ended at 11 I think) I kept getting matched up against people in the 30's, 40's and 50's. Even had a few games with a couple of level 55's on the other team. :bomb:

Ive pretty much stopped playing and am not too sure how much I will get back into it until i'm finished with Mass Effect.
