Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare - Gen. Discussion & Info
same, i get a lot of kills but i die way too much
You guys probably spend have of your time sprinting. You gotta slow down and pick off people one by one. Half of the time when people run around I just sit back and let them run right into my line of sight and boom.

yea, im a very cautious player when playing any game and its usualy a good/bad thing. i like being able to take things slow and stratagize the map and where to go. even tho i dont end up with a high score, i have a blast playing.

There must be a balance. Everyone knows what happens when you stay still in a video game, but constantly sprinting is not the way to go either.

If find that the weapona nd map dictate how much or little I move. For instance I run around a lot more with SMGs and pretty much camp at a few spots when I ahve a heavy-ass LMG.

Assault rifles are a good mix in that you can camp or "roam".

Played online for the fist time last night. I got 3rd my first time, 2nd my next, and unranked the next 2 (I think because my rank went up so I played better people). I did pretty good except every time I killed someone I guess they'd quickly throw a grenade that would get me most of the time.

This is the Martyrdom perk. It drops a grenade once you're killed. Thus, you must learn to never run towards a person you've killed. It is one of the most cheesiest perk out there, but very easily countered.
Wait.. you played on Xbox LIVE last night? LIES!
It came back up pretty late. I played single player until 1 am EST, then tried again and it worked. Played online until 3:30.

Back down again now though. :whistle2:(

Hm, when the game came out I was top 1,000 on leaderboards. Then I took a 3 week break.
I still am always the top player on the team.

If you die so much, try using a silencer and just sitting back. Move only when you have an active radar, take out those guys, then move to a safer spot or spot by more enemies.

I usually have 20 kills and 2 deaths by the time team deathmatch is over.
My friend will have about 30 kills and 25 deaths. He'll be put in 1st place but we all know who the true winner is! =)

srsly, COD needs to have a ratio consideration system when they pick the top players.
Placing a guy with 30 kills and 40 deaths in 1st place is so wrong, since he clearly did more damage to the team than good.

Anyone else have a hard time seeing the enemy locations on the radar? Probably just me, since I'm slightly red/green color blind. Have to look very hard to see them when my team has the UAV up.

Best online multiplayer experience ever for me. I simply love this game. I'm up to level 27, and have improved dramatically during the last 2 hours I've played(I think I've played 11 hours total). For some reason, I'm much better in FFA, than in team, but I like team more. I think one of the problems is that everyone is pretty much on their own in team--nobody wants to coordinate.
Wait.. you played on Xbox LIVE last night? LIES!
Now, I'm at Level 4 of Prestige because of playing for several hours last night. It's funny because I started playing with some of my people that I work with and it is funny to see how they are just starting out since I am the only one that has had the game since it has been out. They will always try to hit me up when were online together because of how much more experience I've had with it.

For those of you that say that you die too much I have a little tip for you. Try to flank your foes by utilizing the radar and killing them from behind or from odd spots on the map so they can't find you once they respawn. This works well on the bigger maps. Like when I play Headquarters most times I just try to go around my foes and kill as many of them as I can before they catch me because I don't like to stay in one spot for a long time.

I just had 3 straight winning Free for All games, with 20/10, 20/11, 20/12, with the crappy Skorpion, and throughout the 3 games, EVERYONE was talking crap about me. They really HATED my Pierre LaFoon gamertag, especially the 2 guys with english accents. Of course, it was typical insults about my sexual orientation, and things they would do to my mother.

God I love this game.
Any thoughts on the idea that you should get more exp. pts for killing higher level players?
I don't see why. It doesn't mean they're any better than you, they've just put more time in.
I don't see why. It doesn't mean they're any better than you, they've just put more time in.
True. I put a buttload of time into Halo 3, but eventually "capped out" at Level 33, since I was then playing guys of that skill level, and didn't get much experience. In COD4, it seems, you can get to level 55 just by playing the hell out of the game.

Yeah, Halo has the skill levels that go up and down. In CoD4 you just keep gaining experience, so everyone can get to 55 if they play long enough.

Yea you can get 55 just by playing since you can't lose points. But in Halo it was easy to max out if you knew decent players. I know guys ranked high but they are average at best, they are just a clan who always play as a team so they win alot. No ranking system is perfect, at least CoD gives you something for ranking up

I like the COD4 ranking system. I don't really care for Halos (which ranks, sans trueskill, is the same thing without perks).

I like the perks and the experience and how it's earned. I love the challenges, and the ability to create classes. Plus, I enjoy the quickness of the levels as opposed to R6:Vegas, which took forever to rank up.

Holy Christ the MP is amazing in this. I really didn't think I would be as impressed especially after having it hyped up from these boards. After about an hour of playing I am totally hooked. It really wasn't hard starting out with 'crappy' weapons. I already have a 1.67 K/D ratio only using the inital classes.

I'm really looking forward to getting some play time with CAGs.

Definitely enjoying the MP on this. I love the challenges, as it gets you to try a whole host of weapons.

Is the CAG clan a closed group, or can one just add that as a clan tag for recognition?
woohoo 18/6 just a moment ago. Hope this stays..
I just got a 34/6 in TD. Tried to grab a picture with my cell phone, but didn't get it off in time.

What was your best streak? Because I can't seem to get past 19. I would have probably got past 19 if it weren't for my lack of ammo. Overall, I think my best ratio was something like 25/5. My K/D ratio usually hangs around 1.33 as I play a lot more domination now and the emphasis is about capturing and holding the flags. If I stuck to more TD, I could probably get my K/D ratio back up. I've seen some snipers though with K/D ratios of 2.5 or so. I hate sniping but that's just crazy!

Also, Rocko, any person here can use "CAG" clan tags. However, I hardly ever see people using them.

Bandolier is key, need the ammo without having to try to find a weapon.

As for getting k/d up, I play headquarters to get mine up, I am not someone who cares about my kd ratio so I dont camp to get easy kills without dieing either. I frequently end up with 60+ kills and 20 deaths.

My ratio is staying at 2.25 due to me trying to get golden weapons, whenever I use my m16 it goes up

my best streak is 38

Blah... I can no longer play with my roomie since the update. We can join other people's parties, but he can't join mine and I can't join his. Plus, when we do play we no longer can hear each other. There have been absolutely no changes to our router since the patch and we can play H3 just fine, but we can no longer play COD4 together. Add that to LIVE running poorly this weekend and it just ruins my COD4 fun. Booh!

Those who can't beat One Shot, One Kill I have an EASY ass way to beat it. It's cheap but it works.

If it hasn't been posted yet, just go into one of those phonebooths after you planted your claymores. Go prone and hide in the farthest back possible, and just lie there till back-up arrives. Grenades should be thrown at you consistently, but just lie there, they can't hit you. Guys might be at the doorway, but since it's only one entry way, just take them out. After 3 mins or so, backup arrives and just flash everyone and get Mcmillan out of there. Cheap, but easy and it works.
(1 hour later)
Actually, I found it pretty easy.

I'm having a lot more trouble with "Heat" at the moment.

Heat is difficult if you abuse your airstrikes and suddenly realize you don't have anymore and realize you have to start over. The hardest part otherwise is just starting downhill, once you've got the ball rolling it's easy, but just getting out is a challenge.

Truthfully, I only used 2 air strikes the entire time. Once to cross the hayfield and once to be safe.

My K/D ratio has just gone back down to 1.86. Kind of annoying seeing it fluctuate so much. My best streak is currently 20. I was about to top it in TD, but I got the last kill in the game giving me a kill streak of 20 for the 10th time or so. There were four people in front of me(back turned to me). I had a Silenced AK-74u. It would have been an easy 4 kills. Would've brought my killstreak up to 23...=/

Yeah, I passed it about 20 minutes after that post. The hardest part was when all those guys come running across the field after taking out the tanks. Once I got past that initial attack it was pretty easy.

I'm definitely glad I played on Veteran, while some parts have been ridiculously hard and frustrating it at least has prolonged the game. I would of finished the game a long time ago if I had played on a lower difficulty setting.

I got stuck there on Regular. Oddly, I got past the latter part when I got pissed, decided not to use many air strikes and just ran down the road after making it about half way down. I didn't even get shot once.

Doubt that would work on Hardened or Veteran though. :D

Are anyone elses achievements just...not working? I should definitely have the "Three of a Kind" achievement (Kill 3 enemies in a row with your knife in the single player campaign), considering I've killed six in a row three seperate times.

I'm also pretty sure I should have the "Bird on the Ground" achievement (Shoot down an enemy helicopter with an RPG in the single player campaign), but I may be mistaken. I did it on the level where, at the end, you have to grab all the RPGs from the barn and shoot down the helicoptor shooting off flares.

That's not an RPG, that's a stinger missle in the barn, so that doesn't count.

RPGs are the little rocket launchers a lot of bad guys have on them, they don't do any kind of lock on, so shooting down a chopper with one is much harder--hence why it's an achievement.

The knife one definitely doesn't work for me, I've done it several times. Knife only three times in a row, flashbangs inbetween, and without. It just won't unlock for me.

After the huge gunfight to start, there's some RPGs behind the buses and two choppers hover to drop off more troops. That trigger is immediately after the first checkpoint so hoof it to the bus where the enemies were hiding and switch to the RPGs and fire away.

Has anyone actually gotten it yet? I haven't seen it on anyones profile.
I beat the campaign last night.

The ending was incredible.
Indeed. The single player is more intense than any other FPS on a console I can think of.
