Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare - Gen. Discussion & Info

I won 5 Free for All games in a row, in one party, so I jump on my headset and go "I'll leave now, so someone else gets the chance to win." And one guy goes "fuck the French!"

:applause:

Is it possible to de-rank at level 55? Got into several games where my friends were being team killed over and over again, and they were still 55. This was in Team Hardcore FYI.

I figured not playing Halo 3 for a week would get rid of the douchebags, but COD4 has been pretty bad, maybe even worst.

Not that it would be problem with COD4, but I hate games that have multi-player achievements that don't have a community a year later. For example, I'd love to grab the Prey achievements for multi-player but no one is playing it! Luckily, there's still a few people playing Table Tennis so I can grab a couple of those, but it's mostly foreigners that are laggy as all hell.

ya I would have to agree I played yesterday and every clan i played against happened to be douchebags.
Vanilla, I sent you a FR.

You are just the type of people I like to play with...or against.
I don't ever use my headset, unless circumstances call for it. If I win a ton of games in a row, or dominate one game, I'll grab it, and say something to everyone in the post game lobby. Or, like yesterday, if, in a Free for All game, I hear 5 different people on my TV swearing at me and calling me a fag, just because I'm winning, I'll jump on the headset and mix it up with them.

Well, I just got access to the double tap perk today, and I am having a bitch of a time deciding whether to use it over stopping power. My weapon of choice is the M16. I have used double tap today while playing, and I seem to perform better with it. I will have to try swapping them out tomorrow and see which works better.

whats up today for the 1st time ever i was, playing offline and the game frooze while loading, and it happened more then once! i thinks its because of the update!?

wow, i guess im lucky, ive had zero douchebags on cod4, no db's = more fun.

i do try and play with friends though. theres always atleast half the room random folks.

Only ever had one douchebag, his gamertag was "Black Caesar", so I killed him with the knife (he was on my team though :whistle2:$).

I had that exact same thing happen to me yesterday. I happened to be doing a lot of knifing in this particular game, so every time I used the knife I heard:

"OH MY GAWD UR SUCH A $$$$$$ STOP KNIFING ME! I HATE WEN PEEPLE ONLY PLAY MULTIPLAYER FOR THE ACHEEEVEMENTS! GAWD!"

That made me chuckle. He thought I was trying to get an achievement

I had never played a Call of Duty game before I picked up COD4 on Saturday. In fact, I had never played a war related FPS. The only FPS titles which I have played (albeit to a great extent) are GoldenEye, Perfect Dark, Bioshock, and most of all, the Halo trilogy. fuck, I didn't know what I was missing.

I haven't even delved into the multiplayer game yet, but single player (on Normal) was just an amazing experience. I can't wait to run through it again on a higher difficulty, even though I know I'll be cursing the game's very existence due to the difficulty.

As I said, the entire game was incredible, but the last level had me getting emotional, and the
epilogue
was an unexpected yet very enjoyable surprise. I'm tempted to go out and buy every other COD game on the 360.

After playing the CoD4 multiplayer a bit it confirms that it is the best multiplayer game on the 360. There are a lot of things they did right with it and few things they did wrong.

Likes:
Moving Spawn points (keeps the games moving and general prevent complete maming, but not always
NO ONLINE ACHIEVEMENTS- Seriously I don't know how many games of Gears or Halo 3 were ruined because people were just playing for achievements and not playing for real. KEEP ACHIEVEMENTS TO SINGLE PLAYER PLEASE!
Perks and Levels- In place or achievements you get the lveling system which honeslty is just as addictive as achievements but they make you actually want to perform well during rounds. The only I don't like is that you will have to play with sub par guns sometimes to comeplete certain levels.
Pacing/Action: CoD4 just flows right. It's easy to die if you are stupid which is realistic but it isn't one shot and you're down. The perfect blend of fun/reality.

Things I Don't Like:
Matchmaking: How can this be the same script on Halo 3? It doen't seam to match teams as evenly, but does ok.
Over powered Combos: I love the perks but it's clear some in certain combinations are just over powered. I mean seriously a full automatic assult rifle with full scope plus stopping power? Yeah I saw myself in that kill cam a lot.
Respawning Enemies in SP: Yeah that just ins't cool. Make certain areas though but I hate how you HAVE to just move forward in certain areas just to hit the checkpoints and stop the CPU from spawning more guys.

Seriously, i should never be able to go 49-15 in Team Deathmatch.

I've often wondered which of the following two is a better way to approach FPS:

(1) COD4 style: Infinite (hey maybe this is why they call themselves Infinity Ward!?) enemy respawns until you get to an imaginary trip wire where they stop spawning. OR

(2) Halo/BiA style where there is a finite amount of enemies.

I'm not sure that I really have a preference. Perhaps a combination of each (which is what COD4 did) is the best. What are your preferences.

Also I have a question: WHY THE fuck WONT THIS GAME WORK!?

I can get into a game easily by myself, but when I try to play with friends, it says unable to connect to host, or people get left out of the lobby.

I tried messing with the ports on my router (NETGEAR WRV....4) but ended up not accomplishing anything. Well nothing unless you like spending 2 hours on a friday trying to get your internet working again. Also my 360 is plugged directly into the router so do the ports matter? Any help is appreciated.

At least you don't have to go in to work tomorrow. There's nothing I like more than sleeping in on those lazy saturdays. Trust me, the game will eventually come back on. Sleep is king. Don't get up until noon and don't answer the phone.

the game is stellar. i actually didnt plan on picking it up as i figured halo3 would solve my mp needs, and i got orange box. but after more of the same halo i had no desire to play, saw all the positive feedback on cod4 some buddies form work were raving about it and i grabbed it.

best mp i hae ever played and im big on mp.
easily worth full price. easily.

i only play teamdeath match and i get the boot every once in a while, but its definately not regular. my dashboard was incredibly slow yesterday and i didnt have any issues when i got on live.

I vastly prefer having a finite amount of enemies.

1. Gets annoying when you're not sure whether to keep killing guys or just try to move forward.

2. Ends up being easier many times to just blindly run forward to hit a check point that to have to fight.

Just hit a 1000/1000 oddly enough it took me the same amount of days (6) to get all the achievements on COD4 as it did on COD2.

The experience isn't distributed the same as Halo's. It's not as competitive. You get points for doing things, but very little of it involves winning. Level/Prestige is really no indication of skill at all in this game; just how long you've played. I don't see how they could improve the matchmaking.

Great game! Just finished it today. I still have a disgusting backlog, and I'll need to tear through it before I can go back to veteran. I will be enjoying the MP on occaision though.

While that is true, matchign on rank does still help as if nothing else the high levels have the maps and general strategies memorized and slaughter us noobies when we get matched up with them! :D

I have 4 other games I got at xmas but it seems that for the time being Call of Duty 4 is stuck in my 360, I'm addicted.

No Fighting in the war room is such a bitch. I'm about halfway through and I'm completely stuck. Last level till I beat vetern, then just Mile High Club Left.

I understand that, i wasn't implying i was great or anything, simply that it shouldn't match me against people that havent put in as many hours as i have at least.

I brought a Sniper Rifle with me for the bunker. It made picking off the guys down the long hallways in the missle silo so much easier.

Oh....that brings back memories. SO HARD. I got so pissed at my tv cause of that level. I would get to the point where you have to choose left or right, had a mp5 (or some smg) and a shotgun, then finally would get through and would come out on the other side of the crates and suddenly get SHOT, I could literally see the door where the savepoint is but somehow get shot. This happened to me atleast 30 times, the other 250 times I couldn't even make it through the side parts. Here's some tips (if you are at the point where you have to make a left or right and go thru the sides because in front of you are the crates blocking your way).

1. Shoot the guy as soon as you enter the area with the left/right silos (sometimes there is a guy there with a shotgun who, if you don't kill him, will run to the left side silo and bring another guy with him to kill you).

2. Shoot the guy that enters the area on the left side silo (again, sometimes he is there, sometimes he is not, usually carrying a automatic weapon).

3. Screw the guys behind the crates, takes too much time.

4. Go prone on the right side, make sure not to get shot from behind.

5. Move SLOWLY to the left while in prone and shoot the guy in front of you in that silo (which would be your left silo).

6. If done right, then there would be no one in the silo in front of you (the left silo) while there would sill be the guy in the right silo who couldn't see you thus couldn't kill you.

7. Get back up, stand, and move quickly to the right (while facing the silo that still has the guy in it (the right silo) and throw a flashbang and run like hell to the other silo that you killed the guy in (the left silo). From the on, it's fire away while trying to avoid the other silo guys that will kill you if they see you.

If you have the M4 Carbine with grenade launcher then USE IT. That will save your life.

That's all I can think of at the moment, hopefully it will help you or someone else that is having the same problem I had with this level on veteran.

As for Migh High Club, that level in and of itself on veteran should be another whole campaign. 500+ tries, a wireless controller and a hurt foot later, and finally beat it.

GT: L0G15T1C (thats a zero btw) if you need help, chat me.

I gave up trying to beat Mile High Club on vetern :(

About to go into Prestige mode for the third time, I just dunno if its gonna be worth it after this time through.

I mainly want to do it again because the weapon challenges are what mainly drive me to play the game. 3x is ok, but 4? IDK. Might just stick to a Rank 3 Prestige 55 when I get to it.

Rather do the level 3 headshot challenges then do prestige mode. Gold weapons>A symbol that scares people from playing with you

I finally beat COD4 on veteran last night, didn't know anything about this damn Mile High Club, Save V.I.P. level bullsh!t...almost chucked my damn controller last night and gave up cause of how damn ridiculous it was. Got some whiskey and rum in me today and beat it after watching short vid at nextgenwalkthroughs, still can't believe I beat it, feels good. Still a bit pissed how f-ing cheap the A.I. is on that level (throwing a flash bang in middle of 5-6 guys only to have some flashed and by a f-ing miracle, others weren't)...whatever, never again that level.
Rather do the level 3 headshot challenges then do prestige mode. Gold weapons>A symbol that scares people from playing with you
Its not all about the rank, doing the marksman and expert challenges are addicting, its fun doing it over again. I am only on the first prestige mode, i'll have to see how i feel about that after im at 55 again.

I never touch certain weapons after I am done with their challenges. Honestly there are a few guns in this game that are far above the rest so once I am done with the challenges I will be using about 4 weapons for all situations.

LMG's need to be toned down sooo bad
