Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare - Gen. Discussion & Info

Live wasn't working for me either, so I just went after so achievements.

Only have the difficulty level ones left now. The beat the game on hardened or veteran, and all the veteran chapter ones. I'll try to push through and beat it on on hardened to get that one, but I won't bother with Veteran. Game is just too cheap and I don't care about gamer score at all. :D Was fun to do the others, just to get more out of the campaign though.

Had a bitch of a time doing that obstacle course in under 20 seconds. Took me nearly 2 hours of trying! Even after watching You Tube clips.

Is it harder on veteran or something?

Ah... I love playing Call of Duty 4 multiplayer one night and Halo 3 the next. It keeps both games sorta fresh, since they are just different enough.

My mind simply cannot understand anyone who goes into Prestige mode more than once....even twice.

Its just busy work. Why go back and unlock everything from the start when you most likely still have many many challenges left by the time you get to 55 anyway?

At least then you get something for it even though they are just golden guns. I have had the option for a while now...and I just dont see myself every going through with it.

Meh.....some people like getting kicked in the balls by girls dress in school uniforms....so I guess going back and redoing everything you just did makes sense to some people.

Gives me something to do. To be honest, the game gets old if I'm not forced to use all the guns. If I didn't do prestige, I'd probably ever use 3 weapons, with roughly the same perks. That's boring.

Couple pet peeves tonight. IW should think about limiting the number of UAVs called on within a certain time period. If one team gets it first, they have an advantage, then they get it again, and again, and again. Seriously, I got in a game where the team called in all 6 UAVs within like 20 seconds. That does note bode well for the other team, where it's pretty unlikely for them to even get 1 UAV because they have no idea where the enemy is.

They also need to fix some spawning issues, especially on domination. When a team is down to 1 flag, why does the entire team keep spawning in like a 40 foot radius. Spread the spawning out.

Also, this game desperately needs new maps because a few of them just suck.

Shipment needs to be taken out of HQ.
Bloc, Showdown, and Countdown all suck to varying degrees.
Wetwork is lopsided in HQ, thus should be taken out of HQ.
Pipeline is meh at best.

I pretty much like all the maps, well at least now that I have a class set up specifically for Shipment.

As to the prestige, Dunno what I'm going to do, Im at level 51 now and havent decided, I'll probably go into prestige b/c i like getting kicked in the balls.

care to share your class setup for Shipment?

Also while each map has its good and bad I think like any FPS the maps you don't like are usually just the maps you aren't good at adapting to, thus the genius reason IW gave custom classes so that you can have a special class for every couple maps.

As I posted in the CAG Gaming Group night thread:

Just as a heads up, the CAGCOD4 list is now full at 100 members. I don't know what, if anything, needs to be done about it, but just letting everyone know that I accepted the last batch of invites last night.

I can always drop people that haven't played it in X amount of days or something if there's still demand to get on the list.

Just beat the epilogue on veteran last night for the Mile High achievement. Then tried to go back and get the Your Show Sucks achievement and failed again. For some reason, finding the intel items and getting the Your Show Sucks achievement are proving more time-consuming for me than Mile High. Although Mile High truly did suck, it didn't take me any longer than Zombie Genocider in Dead Rising.

Three more achievements to go (15 intel, 30 intel and YSS) till I get 1000, then it's on to online challenges. I won't enter prestige mode. I'm just shooting for all the challenges and the golden guns. If it gets old after that, I'll go buy COD2 and/or start playing Halo again. We'll see.

That's not really smart of them considering the UAVs don't stack, it'd be smarter to use them one after another. I like how the enemy spawns in one area when you have two of the flags in Domination. And Bloc, Countdown, and Pipeline are awesome.

In short, I completely disagree with you.

Regarding the multiplayer maps, that's kind of what I was thinking. COD 4 maps blow the Halo maps out of the water in comparison.

There's some good faqs for doing both at gamefaqs.com and some Youtube videos that show where all the intel is at as well. Also one for the TVs.
Is it harder on veteran or something?
The obstacle course? No its the same on any level. I just had a hell of a time doing it in under 20 seconds to get the achievement. It's easy to get passed that level, as you only have to do it in under a minute I think.

20 seconds is pretty tough though. Have to go super fast, not miss any targets on the first shot, be quick with your flash bangs (and not blind yourself) and not get snagged on any doorways etc. which slow you down.

If you just meant beating the game in general, then of course it's harder on veteran. :D

Thanks. I didn't even think to search because it seems like it should be an easy achievement. I'll check it out, though.

Several of the intels are pretty out of the normal path and hard to find. With the TVs, there are 4 out side before you get to the station that are easy to miss. Once you get to the TV station it's just a matter of thoroughly checking every room.

Especially the big news room (where the bit fire fight is). There are a ton of tvs in there, on the walls, on desks, in the little rooms off to the side etc.

I had to break down and check a faq for the TVs. The one I kept missing was when you first enter the TV station you will see a TV on the wall in front of you and if you turn around there is one on the wall behind you. I kept missing the one on the dang wall behind me.

If needed, make a CAGCOD4-2 and with friend of a friend of a friend we should be able to find matches.

Just drop somone on the cagcod4 list that eather isnt on or that would not mind starting the cagcod-2 list then add the cagcod-2 profile as a friend of the first cagcod4 list and start adding more ppl to the cagcod-2 list...(breath). All we would have to do is go into eather friends list that we were on then to the other list to find other players.

easy.

Go for the Intels, it's really easy. I used this FAQ: http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/xbox360/file/939212/50846

Scroll down to where it says "Laptop Locations", it gives you a summary of where each one is located. Like I said before, with some of the timed missions or intels that are really out of the way, grab the intel and then kill yourself so you start back at the checkpoint. It saves as you picking it up, so you don't have to screw up your normal run through a level.

Right I know, I was just wondering because I got that achievement within 20 minutes or so, and you said you were playing it on Veteran so I was just wondering.

Also to yukine -

Yeah, it's not smart for them to call in so many UAVs at a time, but it effectively did give them almost a solid minute of radar, versus what they should've had, which is 3 minutes, but I digress. 1 minute of radar versus a team with none is still a lot.

To each their own about the maps I guess, but I dislike them because of their layout and the way teams spawn, especially on HQ. One team may be destroying the other HQ, but when its destroyed the entire other team is spawned back right next to the new HQ. That's dumb. Then you'll say, well your team should spread out. Yeah you're right, but you need at least 2 guys on the HQ to make it go half-way fast. And even if you do spread out, you're spread out too thin for 1 or 2 guys to take on the entire other team who spawned right next to the HQ that you were waiting at.

And I'm surprised anyone likes the way Domination spawning works. All the winning team does is camp and spawn-kill the other team if they're smart and DO NOT capture point C or A depending on what side. Spawn killing is not fun for either side. Also with spawn killing, it's easier to get UAVs, then you get a airstrike, and since you know where the team spawns, you airstrike the spawn, then you get a Heli. It's dumb if you ask me. This happened last night on Countdown, my team dominated the game early, then the entire other team quit out except for 1 guy because they kept getting spawn killed. Any new players that joined in quickly quit because the game never got to be more than 6 v 3. That's not fun for anyone.

I complain about this stuff because I do it myself. However, I still think that this type of gameplay is extremely unbalanced. When a team loses because it's the game's fault ala bad spawning or whatever and not the player's fault, that's unbalanced gameplay. I do these things because well, I have to, to help my team win. If they fixed all of these things and made the game more balanced, you would not hear a complaint from me about it.

No, I said I wasn't going to bother playing on Veteran, but would try to finish it on hardened. :D

I pretty much suck at dual analog controls, so the obstacle course achievement was a bitch for me. :D

Other option is to just load up the levels one by one on easy, grab the intels, and then save and quit and move on to the next one.

As for screwing up the normal run through the level--are you talking about playing on arcade mode and not wanting to mess up your high score attempt? Otherwise I don't see what it matters.

Well, for example in "No Fighting in the War Room" you have to take the left path to grab the Intel which is signicantly more difficult then taking the right... and you're also timed. "Sins of the father" has an intel that you have to pick up before it's day. I'm not saying it's necesary for all of them, I just found a couple of them that screwed things up.

I'll pop a UAV right after a teammate... if Im about to get an airstrike and would otherwise lose the UAV. I'd rather add 5 motre seconds to it than nothing. But yeah, not alot of people realize that they dont stack, cos I see players rapid fire them all the time. Its like one guy uses his, and three other people on his team remember they had em too.

Also, the worst CoD maps are better than many other shooters good maps.

They need to make more objective maps available for the free for all and team deathmatch players. I hate those objective games, this is frickin' war, I wanna kill people.

Got in a match tonight and everything went fine. The next match however, not so much. Lag lag lag then a timeout, then disconnect. Awesome.

Edit: What the hell. My ranking went up in the last match I played. Now I'm back down to my old rank! Anyone else had this happen to them?

one shot one kills last intel is the hardest to find. even when i was waiting for it to open up i had to go all the way around just to trigger it.

Yesssssss finally got Mile High Club and finished up my achievements. Finally started playing online, too. Gosh it's fun :) i'm still a rank 7 noob though :(

Man, I just don't know if I'll have the patience to finish it a second time on hardened! I don't know how you guys do it on Veteran.

I freely admit I suck at FPS though! The Call fo Duty games have always drove me nuts though. The enemies are dumb as rocks, they're just crack shots!

Wish the enemies would get smarter on higher difficulty rather than just get better aim, do more damage and take less damage. As is, playing on harder difficulty is just a excercise in frustration, rather than a satisfying challenge like in games like Halo and Gears.

Has anyone beat the Mile High (Save the V.I.P. or whatever its called) part after the credits on COD4 on Veteran Difficulty? If so how or is it even worth it?

It requires perfection.

My friend did it, I watched him try for hours and days and weeks.

I have. Extremely satisfying, once you do it.

You can work out your own strategy (or you can check out youtube for some videos), but ideally, you should have 35ish seconds left by the time you reach the second level of the plane.
It just takes a lot of repetition to get it down perfectly.

its luck and a good game plan

Has nothing to do with "skill" just something you need to know a strategy to and hopefully they dont pull the sniper-shotgun out and 1 hit you from down the hall

Thanks for the suggestions from the sounds of it seems like I will have to do the same thing I did with some of the Veteran levels and just keep doing over and over again.

i stopped playing veteran after a million tries on one shot one kill or whatever its called, at the end where you have to put mcmillian or mcdaniels down and hold off til you helicopter comes and rescues you after like 5 mins or so, I made it to the very end about 3 times and i would get killed getting on the helicopter or the helicopter left or some dumb ass soldier was in the way, after that level i didnt feel like playing veteran no more lol, and mile high is a bitch on veteran

Watch the Youtube videos, watch their strategies. I was trying on my own for hours, but after studying some good videos, I was able to complete it in less than 15 tries.
