Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare - Gen. Discussion & Info

Is it really that bad? My 7 month old hasn't been sleeping well so I don't usually wear my headset because of spontaneous cries while I'm putting her back to sleep and I just play TDM so I haven't really listened to much talking. Is it worse than Gears? I always heard Gears wasn't even as bad as Halo 2.
I'd look at their history and look at CoD2 and if they dropped map pack prices. Did they?
Yea, I will have to do that... I thought of that right after I hit 'Submit'. I was just seeing if maybe someone knew right off the top of their head.
I usually don't play with a mic unless I am partying up with friends or the gameplay of a teammate questions me. Oh yeah, I also play with one in S&D.
Yeah I usually don't even have my headset plugged in when I play COD4 online, usually no one talks anyway and if they do they are usually douche bags.

Headset gets plugged in when playing with CAGs, however.

The trash talk seems to always come in spurts for me. I'll have a whole night where no one will say anything, but the next night it'll be the singing 12 year old with the stoners yelling at him. The random idiot is tolerable, but as we all know, idiots are pack animals.

Last week I got called a camper because (apparently) I killed the same guy over and over when they kept rushing the spawn point our team was stuck at.

Same here, having kids singing or making sheep noises into the mic... repeatedly... not fun. Mute one, the other starts.

CAG group = plug in and have fun
So, I just got done playing around an hour by myself. I went something like 2-8. My first match was headquarters, and I got dumped into a game in progress, put on a team losing 235-15 with seven minutes still to go. The winning team was just camping the headquarters, not trying to capture it, but just killing the crap out of us.

I quit out of that game to find another that wouldn't be a slaughterfest, and got put back into the same fucking game! I got two losses from one game! I just stayed the remainder and sniped the guys killing the people rushing the headquarters and promptly backed out to never play headquarters alone again.

I was playing with nothing but noobs this entire time. I switched over to domination and actually heard somone say "No dude, don't try to go get C. We just need B." and proceded to rush B for the rest of the game getting massacred for the rest of the game. Fools.
the domination thing only makes sense if you already have A and B... if you capture C then, they start randomly spawning and can really screw things up. that being said, if the other team had B and C, i say go for whatever is the easiest to capture (usually C since they rush B). now the great thing about having those idiots on your team that keep rushing B in this situation is that if you can get one other play to go C with you, you usually have a big opening with maybe 1 person defending and you can capture C pretty quick since the other team is so focused with the idiots at B.

I know that im a asshole when it comes to playing with people who dont know how to play the game, its not about skill level its about not playing the gametype your in. I normally offer to help them learn how to play Headquarters then start swearing at them due to me getting frustrated at some guy making me spawn across the map because he is teh sniper.

Headquarters is now my favorite mode. Not because of the real "Headquarters", but because almost 90% of people will run to the new headquarters. I love to just go around on my own and flank people and kill tons. Way more points to be won.

Not true at all, 5 points a kill or 5 points every 5 seconds holding the Headquarters. Need to do both to get maximum points...

Plus half the time flanking is the wrong thing to do when fighting over a headquarters, flanking when a team ahs the dominate spawn can switch spawns on your team and give the other team the advantage needed to capture...

Yeah, we only had A, and the other team had B & C. They were doing the lemming approach of "WE MUST HAS TEH B!" for like four minutes before I finally spoke up and said, dude go try C. Even if you're holding A & C for just a few seconds, thats long enough for the other team to decide 'hey, we need to have two flags to win this game,' meaning they'll send half of their group back to C or A to try and capture it, making B less heavily defended.

The worst thing that could happen would be that they get all three points and then we get random spawns, making flag capture easier as they're not going to know where we're coming from.

I love how they flushed out the map for Broadcast. By expanding the map to include a spacious outside, they basically retarded the plan of those who planned on just sniping. Chinatown looks like it will be a lot of fun. The map is very beautiful. I am really glad Creek isn't another Overgrown. It seems a lot less divided, and the underground cavern is a neat element. Killhouse looks like the new Shipment, but with more places for cover, which is good. This map pack seems like a winner. April 3 cannot come soon enough. :whistle2:(

CoD 4: Game Of The Year Edition comes out 4/1...

Yes. You obviously cannot do both at the same time. However, that is what teammates are for. Almost all teammates will head for headquarters. While you (also getting points), will flank the team and kill the rest. As long as you are not camping, the sides will not swap. So, if you flank and kill, then keep running and killing in a huge circle, tides will not change. Of course, this method depends on your teammates holding the headquarters.

You are not supposed to get the whole team to flank. It's just you, and you alone. Granted, there are some people that do this too, but not enough for the sides to swap. In a map such as Countdown, the enemy spawns in either of the two warehouses and your friendlies spawn at the opposite warehouses. Now, if you flanked, let's hypothetically say the sides switch. You would still be running toward their side (like I said, a circle), and killing more. Moreover, the enemy would not have an advantage anyhow considering the headquarter is almost always being pelted by nades (especially in the middle). Plus, you can always just flank and then capture headquarters. That works too and is what I often do.

I'm pretty sure I speak for everyone when a new headquarter pops up, you do a reflex to click the "RUN" button towards the direction or closest path to the headquarters. Reading the enemy = easy pickings.

So the people who buy the GOTY edition get the maps two days earlier than all of us nice people who have been making it the #1 game on live?

Weak.

Definitely getting the new maps especially since I got some points back when CC did the B1G1 on accessories 20 and under.

I encountered more smack talk last night than usual, mostly cause us CAGs were killing the other guys. Dawned on me that when I play without a group I usually play mercenary TDM to avoid the old mismatched noncommunicating group vs the uberclan scenario and in MTDM hardly anyone uses a mic.

So you can get the new maps two days before it hits the market place, yet you can only play the maps for 21 days? What's the point of the GOTY edition then?
Too bad it is not out this weekend, I have friday off :applause:
That's my biggest complaint: it's not out this week. Due to the school district's schedule, I have this week off, but it's back to work next week. Dagnabbit, Infinity Ward! :bomb: ... :whistle2:(
So you can get the new maps two days before he hits the market place, yet you can only play the maps for 21 days? What's the point of the GOTY edition then?
I read that as they are 360 exclusive for 21 days.

No you buy them for 21$ for a 10 day exclusive trial where you then have to buy the GOTY edition of the maps for another 10$ for 21 days.

I think their plan is to get us to buy another copy. :whistle2:x
So wait, if you go to Marketplace and buy the four new maps for $10, they all go away in 21 days? Or is this only for the GOTY edition?
I think the "21 days" line means they won't be coming out on the PS3 until 21 days after they're released on the 360.

That's the way I read it as well.

Also, I would be surprised if the token code included with the GOTY edition will work before the third.

GODDDDDD! I've decided I cannot play this game during the day. I'm only going to play it at night with my fellow CAGs, since I cannot get anything resembling a decent team from matchmaking.

I just played Domination on Overgrown. My team (SAS) captured A and then went over to C and got that. But upon capturing C, they all just stayed there and sniped. The other team quickly got A, and no one other than me even tried to capture another flag. I ended up with like 273 XP and everyone in the lobby was like "How'd you get so many points!?!" Idiots.
I suppose I'll finally have to pick this up.

Chronotrigga, your sig almost made me piss myself.
Ah, the good old days of playing WoW. lol. carrot on stick ftw
has this happened to anyone before? a bomb will explore and cause my game to freeze. this is the third time that it has happened.
seems to be happening a lot to me and a couple others i play with. either a grenade or a car blowing up has made me freeze a few times in a couple of days. i actually prefer the online of this over vegas 2, so i am trying to play this game more, but it isn't easy. having to sit in the lobby 5-10 mins. before another team joins because a 2-4 people in the party i am in can not connect to a room 3/4 of the time, than finally when we connect, i get hit by a grenade or a randomly exploding vehicle kills me and i freeze up again. that means we have to get everyone to back out once i get on and they finish the round so that i can play with them again and we have to try and find a room all over again!

If anyone remembers how the code was just on a sheet within the COD3 GOLD EDITION, then I'll be picking up my map code at Gamestop on 4/1 out of a gutted copy ;)

Like Gamestop employees arent going to do that themselves to gutted copies? Have fun getting home, typing the code off of your cellcam pic and finding out it doesnt work.

I meant snag the whole code piece of paper, after you throw the glitter, and before you knock the rack over.
How much will the maps be?
800 MS.

Anyone know if you can send MS points to another person? Like I buy a 1600 card, put in the code, download it and send the 800 leftover to a friend?
