Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare - Gen. Discussion & Info

I must've tried that part at least 10 times in a row and the furthest I've gotten was behind the bumper cars (only tried it twice). I used up all my flash bangs, grenades, ran outta bullets with my pistol and I'm trying to hold them off with my sniper rifle LMAO! All the while, the AI is throwing grenades at me like they were on sale for a penny! Thinking about the situation makes me laugh now, but later on tonight it'll make me cry LOL! I'll try for another hour or so and if I can't pass it on hardened, then I'll move it down to Regular. If I can't handle regular, I'll die b/c I refuse to play on the easiest setting  HAHA!

Edit: I'll try the glitch behind the ferris wheel or take the fight behind the bumper cars tonight. I'm actually hyped up for the fight now that I'm concentrating my tactics on the Alamo (AKA behind the bumper cars hehe). Thanks for the suggestions so far everybody!

Edit: I confused hardened with hardcore and mistakenly thought veteran was the middle difficulty. I can't even imagine playing that section on veteran!

Yea, I am up to that spot as well. I haven't played since I got there since my 360 broke, so I'll be sure to use the aforementioned tactics when I do resume the single player. I am currently on Hardened.

So you just need to wait out the time? You don't actually have to move anywhere, the helicopter will land near you after the time runs out?

The heli lands in the middle of the area in front of the wheel.
You have to just run for it, with Lt. Dan.

The nades thing is one of the most annoying parts of the game for me, especially on Veteran. Like ya, I can understand they have a nade or two. But most hard sections go something like this. Run out, get shot to near death, hide behind the one piece of wall I can fit under, have three nades land right near me, get up to run, get shot, die, retry.
It's a countdown timer situation.

I found a glitch spot right behind one of the legs of the ferris wheel that caused the enemies to not attack me (on Veteran).

I waited for the chopper to arrive, and as soon as I moved from the leg all of the enemies who spawned that didn't attack me just brutally rushed me.

It was the most enemies I had ever seen, but I was able to just run with my crippled buddy and make it.
Damn!

I ran around the apartment building and back to where they spawned, and whenever they'd spawn in front of me and run forward I'd just pop 'em in the back of the head, and stay prone. When the chopper came, I just ran out there, tossed a few frags and kept to the outside, and made it without even being hit. :D

ooohh, that must've been what Slickkill was talking about when he said "go to the spawn point". I'll give that a try tonight too. Thanks! Hopefully I can pick up an assault rifle and drop my pistol

I just had my best game ever too! 14-0 team death match (we won). I was using the LMG called M60E4 or something like that with red dot.
Just played a game of HQ on Shipment. 134 kills and 78 deaths, that's a personal record for me.
I have a special class just for Shipment.

- Semi Auto Shotgun
- x3 Frag Grenades
- stopping power
- Martyrdom

I spawn, throw my 3 frags, run around and shotty people to death. When I get killed I drop a 4th frag. Press X and repeat the cycle.

Its cheap, but it racks up the kills.

I have a special class as well, a little different though...

- Semi Auto Shotgun with grip
- Overkill
- P90
- Martyrdom

I basically shotty people to death, if I run out of bullets I pull my P90 out... I don't have the fragx3 yet, so I don't use that :)

You should probably use something instead of overkill. I use the p90 on shipment and I have never run out of ammo despite an 18 kill streak.

Running out of ammo isn't usually a problem on Shipment, unless you're just shooting random walls and the ground a lot.

If you do run out of ammo, pick up one of the hundreds of guns laying on the ground from all the dead bodies.

Its not the ammo, its that sometimes I like to one hit kill people and others I like to spray a bunch of people... It depends on how close I am vs the amount of people, etc.

Yea, but you actually have enough time to switch weapons when you see your situation?
Yea, but you actually have enough time to switch weapons when you see your situation?
Well if im going through the box thing and i see a few guys a distance away, I'll switch then start shooting without showing myself, I'm not saying I'll switch midfight, if that makes any sense...

I've been playing the crap out of this game as of recently.

I tried getting back into Halo 3 and its nearly impossible.

The only other game I've been able to jump into a little have been TF2 on my PC.

How frustrating is this game on veteran? Is it even worth it for the achievements? I'm thinking about trying to go through it again.

I've heard many stories about how the difficulty increases by simply giving the enemies better aimming. Any thoughts?
Edit: MVP, I sent a few requests your way. Sorry to pepper with invites.
No problem, I was in a few intense matches with some other guys on my friends list, so next time I will more than likely join.

P.S. It seems as if all the online multiplayer changes have been added (Exception of the ones I am assuming need a true update via download..kill cam, etc)

Definitely worth playing on veteran. Almost all the achievements are on veteran. Some levels it took me an hour or 2 to complete.

COD4 on Veteran is a Literal Beast, its a Goddamn Monster...It will chew you up body and soul and shit you out on the ground at 3:00 in the morning all over your mother's lawn.

But...I loved every frustrating minute of it, the Challange makes it all the more satisfying and the Achievements are all story driven so it shouldnt be a problem. Most of the levels will be easy as cake (The cake is a lie...ITS A NUKE)...while others will be so frustrating that you'd want to rip off your own two hands and beat yourself to death (is that physically possible?)

Good Luck.

Fair enough. I just wanted to know if it was worth the frustration. I'l probably give it a try and see what happens. I don't want to take the disc out and break it in half in a frustrated rage.

You might, depends how you play, if you tend to just sit back and wait it out, then I wouldnt try veteran. There is infinite spawning until you reach certain points.

I noticed that during normal and I wasn't too into "being frantically picked off by a character I thought I killed" gameplay mechanic. It does add to the chaos though.

OK, I had an easy enough time getting through it on Normal difficulty--it was fun. More fun than I've had in a VG for a while. Now, I'm going through it on Veteran, and I am stuck in the TV Station part of the "Charlie Don't Surf" level. I'm in that room that opens up into the large room where they spawn in the back and on the balconies (with RPGs), and I am at a loss. After about an hour, I watched the video posted at www.nextgenwalkthroughs.com, and the dude just makes a run for it to the black closet, and picks everyone off. He says that the grenades don't seem to make it into that room, but after trying for a half hour, they made it there EVERY TIME. If anyone has another tip for a frustrated fellow CAG'er, let me know. I intend to go home tonight and bang my head against the wall for as long as it takes.

Who else is going to K-mart and punch babies? I know I am. Yesterday was probably the worst I have played since I got the game. Oh well, still fun.

This took me forever to do. Here's what i did on Vet:

- First, I headed for the room directly across from the entrance. I threw a frag nade in there.
- I didn't go in the door immediately though, instead, I backed into the corner right next to the door, and killed the 3 guys who came out of the room I fragged, then the 1 guy who pops out further across the big room running towards you.
- As soon as those guys are dead, I dove into that room. Pay careful attention to all of the windows, as guys like to pop up and shoot you.
- Wait and make sure your invulnerable squad mate gets in there with you, he's a big help.
- Crawl or crouch through these 3 rooms until you get to the next part of the big TV room. There's like a huge table thing, and another room across from you.
- Run out there and start picking off people in both the big room and the small room.
- After you kill about 10 people, the rest of your squad will coming running, and the respawn will stop, and they'll open the door.

The whole thing took me about an hour to perfect and finish myself.
Yeah, I have my good days and bad days. Usually end up quiting video games all together for that day when I get a bad day.
After you left, I joined a game with Brak and JimmieMac and a few others. It was hilarious. I literally had tears running down my face. And I was having a shitty night, so it helped.

I had a great night last night but finished super shitty. I think i was tired and my contacts being dry (and my vision shitty) probably didn't help either.

I did have my best game ever though, still proud of 14-0. I finally got my K/D ratio to the .75 mark but by the end of the night it was back down to 14-0 so I just shut the fuckin thing off.

Regarding that main TV room part on Vet. I think as soon as I entered the room I took an immediate right and hugged that wall until the corner where I just crouched and aimed to the left (along the back of the large room). I remember being shielded from the RPG's here (you're underneath them). Then I just made my way to the back room. Reaching this point clots the flow of the infinite spawing, then its just up to you and your squad to clear the rest.

Hope this helps.

Here is a rough map of your route:
cod4jf8.png
Just run like hell without shooting back. Before you turn left, crouch behind one of the desks, and toss a flash, and run your ass into that corridor.

Thanks for the tips, guys. I will be at it again tonight.

On another note, have you all been getting together for multiplayer? I have a pending FR to the CAG COD4 clan, so if anyone's interested in allowing an FNG into the fray, look for me on XBL.

Noah "Kromax" Kromaksian

I went online last night for the fist time and got shot in the head for a 1/2 hour. I really really suck - I'm not even sure I was having fun. One guy did say "cocksucker" a lot so that was kind of funny I guess.

Kromax, moojuice's map mirrors my advice. It's how I got to the next checkpoint.

Jav, I got owned alot at first too. You have to get used to the maps and learn the sweet spots to camp. You also develop a feel for the game. At first I always took a left when I should have gone right, I always brought up sites when I should have fired from the hip, I used the wrong weapon on teh wrong map and got owned ALOT.

I still suck pretty bad with a K/D ratio of .74 and a w/l ratio of about .9. It can be extremely frustrating and some matches I'll end up with a score of like 4-15.

Others (my best) I'll go 14-0. For me, it is right on the cusp where the frustration (majority) is overcome by the few really great matches where I will tear it up. Kind of like golf, you remember the sweet shots and forget the rest.

Just keep at it!

i actually had more trouble in that room on hardened than on veteran. what i did to get clear of the room pretty quickly is switch to shotgun. then i run to the wall across from where you enter, wait for a handful of enemies to turn the corner towards you, kill them, kill the guy inside of the room. keep low fire out the window from the room, move through the other end of the room and by then you've gotten most of them and you got them flanked.

but at any rate, use the SHOTGUN. it's really useful in that room.

WOOT! I passed the sniping part I had trouble with the day before yesterday on my first try last night! I stuck with the Alamo (aka behind the bumper cars) tactic and grabbed an AK47 (dropped the pistol). Geez, I cannot believe how much a difference the assault rifle makes during that portion of the game. It was pretty easy actually

My brother-in-law whose copy of COD4 I have is back from 3 weeks of training in VA and I'm afraid he is going to want his copy of COD4 back. It's a sad day for me.

Oh well I've had it for 3 weeks and in that time leveled up to 42, and beat the game on hardened. Perhaps it's time for me to move on or perhaps its time for me to just bite the bullet and buy a copy for myself.

I know you don't know me or him but here is some background: he doesnt game online and doesnt even have XBL, he lives in the apt. above me, and he already beat it. I want some advice on gaming "ettiquete" Do you think:
(1) I should return it without him even asking for it back?
(2) Bring it up and ask if he wants to play it more, maybe he'll say "No you can hold onto it"?
(3) Just keep it and don't say anything and wait for him to ask for it back (hoping he doesnt)?
(4) Ask if he is done with it and offer to buy it from him (at what price? $40 fair?)

I'd do 3. Also after X Mas it's going to be like 37.99 so I think if you enjoy the game you should mos def buy a copy for yourself.

Thanks for your opinion Pimpin...I dunno, I WANT to do option (3) but it doesn't seem right. If I let someone borrow a game while I'm out of town I don't want to have to ask them to give it back to me, though I am totally addicted to this game.

38 bucks after xmas huh? Is this for sure or just a hunch? BTW I left this out: He said he thinks he may be getting a wireless internet connection so he may be online soon. He does make about double my salary (works for Pfizer pharmaceuticals) and is not a very big gamer.

I sent a FR to the CAGCOD4 account, but if any other Cag'ers want to put me on their friends list, I pretty much play only cod4 when I'm on.
My gamertag is MattB42, I'm not great at the game but I'm not horrible either, also I'm not a complete idiot if that helps... :D
I'm into sunsets and long walks on the beach... err... wrong thread...I meant to say HQ and Domination mostly, but I'm up for anything. :p
Anyways if I'm on and someone wants one more to fill out a group or something, feel free to invite me.

I would pick the "be honest to your bother" option. He's been away for 3 weeks and he let you borrow his game for goodness sake LOL! I would ask him if he would like the game back, and kindly let him know that you're still enjoying the online competition. Maybe he has other games to play and will continue to let you borrow it. Besides, if he doesn't play online and sticks to the single player campaign, he'll be done with the game in 5 to 8 hours most likely

Edit: Or you can do what help1 suggested. You can get the game for free or less than $5 most likely doing the xbox360free referral.

I beat All Ghilled Up today on Veteran, gaining the not being seen achievement as well. That was a lot of fun. I'm really not looking forward to this next level. I already sniped the guy, but the escape is already a PITA, and I'm not even to the ferris wheel yet.
