Chris Benoit kills wife, 7 year old son and then self.
You're just looking for justification to say "I knew it!" at a point and time when nobody knew it, especially random guy on the internet #543549043.
Everyone is looking for justification its normal when someone you like or know kills someone else. Its the reason everyone is fighting in this thread.
I'm curious, why is the wrestling industry plagued with mysterious deaths?
Not a lot of mysterious deaths. But a lot of deaths from drug use, and living a hard life which weakens the old ticker.
i would love to see what those text messages said...
As we would all like to also.
I keep holding out hope that he didn't really do it. Should we continue this "memorial" topic? I really, really, really want to believe that he didn't do it
I do to but its not looking good. Lets hope they release what was said on the note.
It feels like William Regal knew something since he wouldn't say anything about Benoit personally and would only refer to him professionally.
Could have gotten some of the text messages, and they disturbed them when he found out that it was being investigated as a homicide.
Yeah, I've heard the Saturday/Sunday thing but it doesn't make sense. Nancy's body was laying there for 48 hours? The son didn't think something was up when he didn't see his mom that day? Didn't they say Nancy was found dead in the living room? I imagine that they have more than one TV, but I find it hard to believe that the son didn't notice.
It doesn't make sense the she killed the kid he killed her make more sense.
it's sad when drugs make someone do this to their family... I'd like to find out more before I condemn Benoit though...
Glad to see your coming to see what I saw. Its hard to understand how someone we all grew up watching rooting against and for could do such a thing, especially looking back to last nights WWE tribute. It really is hard to absorb that he would do something like this, but ya gotta move on.

I think this is BS, but I'll post it anyway...

PWTorch.com has learned that one major media entity has received an email purporting to be from a friend of the Chris Benoit extended family saying that Benoit accidentally killed his wife in a domestic argument, then panicked and killed his son later so his son could be with his mother rather than grow up without a mom and knowing his father as a murderer.

i called it way back in the beginning of the thread... I was just disagreeing with how people were hating Benoit for this incident and not realizing the affect drugs and depression have on people...

Original Post:

EDIT:

WWE.com is calling this a double-murder/suicide. I won't post any more on the matter until more details have come to light. Needless to say this is one of the strangest occurences in wrestling history.

As time has passed WWE.com has added they have information that police won't let them to disclose at the moment. In a move that is certain to raise more than a few suspicious eyebrows all of the wrestler testimonials from tonight's Raw have been pulled from the website.

At this moment, I am not sure how to react. As a wrestling fan since the age of 3, I've seen a lot of crazy things, but never anything like this. I've watched Chris Benoit in the ring for over a decade, and the actions of this past weekend have left me shocked, disappointed and saddened. While a good part of me feels betrayed, I'd ultimately prefer to remember Chris Benoit for how he lived inside the wrestling ring, not the unfortunate circumstances surrounding his death.
God, I knew you'd have to be the first moron to have your nuts all up in this thread.
I think this is BS, but I'll post it anyway...

please stop posting rumors and every little tidbit of information you run up on. let's just wait for official word instead of hearing 80,000 "my cousin works for randomlawenforcement and he heard.."

If you read all my posts instead of complaining, you'd notice that it's official.

Now it seems there is a motive.
The only thing I can think of close to this is finding out Kirby Puckett wasn't the nice guy we though he was. The Benoit situation is obviously worse though.

Just a few more thoughts as the day rolls on here:

1) I'm really torn on this. Yes, Benoit is a monster. He stepped way over the moral line here, killing his son and wife. That being said, I think I'm ok with the tribute show. He was a maiin eventer. He might have had the best match at Mania. This guy was a huge part of the show. I don't think you ignore him completely. Obviously, there were many sides to Benoit. This is a side we wish we never say, but I think you honor the other side of him as well.

2) I feel horrible for Chavo, Dean, and others of Benoit's close friends. Imagine for a moment that one of your friends did this (it can happen to anyone). You would still feel horrible. Maybe moreso, since you should have seen it coming. It obviusly isn't there fault that this happened, but I'm sure they don't feel that way. I'm sure they will mourn the man they knew, even if there was a darker side to him that they didn't. It is still a huge loss to them.

3) Though I doubt it'll ever happen now, I think Benoit shoud be enshrined in the WWE Hall of Fame. This is a sad incident, and I don't think you forgive the murder, I don't think you ignore everything else either. From all reports, it doesn't seem that Benoit was that bad a guy. He wasn't a drunk that has almost killed people before. Maybe he snapped. I think it's one of those wait and see things, but the more I think about it, to ignore the man completely

4) I think it's fitting to have wrestling out there tonight and Friday. I think that's how most of the tributes went, first show is a tribute, the other tapings have plain wresting and everyone honoring the fallen.

5) Vince McMahon death angle: Should it be dropped? I know it will, but I completely disagree here, I think it should go on. People have died before in wrestling. If it's tasteless to do it now, it was tasteless to do it before. It didn't stop you before. Also, I think everyone understands the difference in wrestling (we all know that HHH and Stephanie are married, though their characters are often at odds, yet we accept this). So, seeing Vince out there on Monday doesn't shoot anything, just like the fact that he was coherent and not "crazy". We all understand the difference. People watch award shows with actors accepting awards for playing "dead" characters. So, I think you can keep the storyline. Now, I do think that you might dump the "funeral" episode, but then again, maybe not. Again, if it's tasteless now, it was tasteless before.
If you read all my posts instead of complaining, you'd notice that it's official.

He did it.
No. It isn't official. You find me one article that quotes an official from the local authorities claiming he did it. Because all I see is that authorities believed him to have done it.

Oh..and anonymous sources, inside or outside of the investigation, don't count.
If you read all my posts instead of complaining, you'd notice that it's official.

He did it.
I can read all your little random snippets around the web just fine, you don't have to requote them. It's nothing that I can't find by going to google and typing "Chris Benoit". I'm just sick of reading "Hey, this news channel just reported it".. five minutes later "CNN is talking about it". Half an hour later.. "hey, this other channel is running a story on it". No shit sherlock, those are news channels. They're dedicated to bringing news.

And there isn't a motive. All your link showed is that they had been down a rocky road. No shit, sherlock. Any wrestling fan during the WCW/Kevin Sullivan/Chris Benoit/Woman era could've told you that. Just wait until you get something official to post again.

naes, just stop. Especially with the OJ thing. You're not doing anything besides making an ass out of yourself.

All that weight-lifting for nothing.

Death is so final, homeboy should have just retired, and stayed home and had a wonderful life relaxing with his family. If there were problems, he could have worked them out.
You've gotta be kidding me. Even the WWE believes he did it.

I think I should change my signature. Here's what I was thinking:

2,000 yards in one season. The NFL misses you.
I know its wrong but,:rofl::rofl:

Good to see all the assholes come out of the woodwork today.

I expect we'll see Chavo drop the Cruiserweight title ASAP; depending on what those text messages said he could be in some legal trouble very soon.

Wow, just wow. I was so shocked when I found he died. He was one of the best, and one of my favorites when I used to watch wrestling. I can't believe he would murder his family...wow just wow. So shocking. I still can't believe this. Wow.

The sheriff's department is going to be holding a press conference in an about hour, which should hopefully end some of the wild speculation.
Forgive me for posting information that's related to the topic...

And there is a motive. The article proves that when Benoit was abusive, Nancy did something about it.

And how am I being an ass? People are saying "RIP Chris Benoit". Honoring someone who murdered a 7 year old child? What the fuck? He murdered his wife and his son. RIP Benoit! What a great man!
Your little OJ picture being the most obvious reason. Congrats. You're now the second person to be inducted to my ignore list from this topic. You're a joke. Go away.

Local news just did an "update" with no actual updates. However, a press conference is scheduled for 3P EST.
The sheriff's department is going to be holding a press conference in an about hour, which should hopefully end some of the wild speculation.
Thanks for the info. If anyone can report here on what is said please do so. I for one will wait until something more official is said before passing any judgement.

Edit: Thanks neocisco in advance for any updates.
And how am I being an ass?
Think about the two pictures you've posted in this thread today and see if you can ask yourself this question with any doubt as to the answer.
God, I knew you'd have to be the first moron to have your nuts all up in this thread.
If you look at the time this thread was started, it was well before any "murder" suspicions had come to light. The first mention of Benoit being the murderer happend around 11:10PM last night, LONG after this topic started.

Nobody is here to cheer Benoit on despite being a murderer; we were here to remember him and cherish his wrestling legacy. Knowing he murdered his family makes that especially hard to do, and you'll see very few people are doing that anymore.
The only thing I can think of close to this is finding out Kirby Puckett wasn't the nice guy we though he was. The Benoit situation is obviously worse though.
Kirby was a jerk? Say it aint' so!!!
3) Though I doubt it'll ever happen now, I think Benoit shoud be enshrined in the WWE Hall of Fame. This is a sad incident, and I don't think you forgive the murder, I don't think you ignore everything else either.
I don't think it is appropriate, and I don't think the WWE would draw controversy to themselves by inducting him. Ever. Pete Rose stands a better chance of getting in to the MLB Hall of Fame.

heres to hoping he didnt just do it to do it you know. maybe he had mental problems and wasnt in his right mind but damn the man had a hell of a wrestling legacy and now its going to be tainted with this crap forever. im sure plenty of wrestling fans will get over it or not let it affect their feelings towards his work and maybe thats for the best to separate chris benoit the wrestler from chris benoit the man outside of the ring because we dont really know much if anything abotu any wrestlers.

the life of a wrestler even at the high level isnt an easy one and its a hard life that leaves you sacrificing everything just to hopefully someday make it. you add the stress of keeping your position within the company, frequent layoffs, physical pains and ailments, the lack of downtime and whatever problems you may have at home or in your past and that could break any man.
The sheriff's department is going to be holding a press conference in an about hour, which should hopefully end some of the wild speculation.
I hope they give more then we already have otherwise I'll be pissed.

Pete Rose stands a better chance to get into the WWE Hall of....

Nevermind.

1... They were saying the same thing on ESPN radio. Why is wwe promoting a killer. UMMMM when the put the show on last night They never knew he killed his family then himself. So Screw espn

4... It wil be interesting to see how they handle ECW and smackdown now.

5... they will drop the entire death angle if you ask me. Im sure vince was never dead in the first place. They would said he was dead and probally at summerslam he would make this BIG RETURN

Genius observation.

Also, any updates as to what the press conference reveals (if anything) are appreciated.

I'm not defending him or whatnot, but an influential speaker I once had the pleasure of hearing speak said something I'll never forget after the crowd had booed a reference to R-Kelly: "I hope that people don't judge you by the worst thing you've ever done."
