Chris Benoit kills wife, 7 year old son and then self.
Found this off of digg. Apparently from a quick scan, someone posted about the death of Benoit's wife on Wikipedia before the police actually found the body.

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,287194,00.html
An anonymous user operating a computer traced to Stamford, Conn. — home to World Wrestling Entertainment — posted an entry to pro wrestler Chris Benoit's biography on Wikipedia.org announcing the death of his wife Nancy at least 13 hours before police in suburban Atlanta said they found her body along with her husband's and that of their 7-year-old son, FOXNews.com has learned.

I've heard some talk of "IP Spoofing" or something like that, but the timing of that Wiki edit certainly is strange. Someone on another forum pointed out that it was after the time of Benoit's death (according to autopsy reports) but before any of the bodies were found???

As bad as it sounds i do hope it was an outsource and not chris who did it. However if it was someone else it seems impossible that he will ever be found.

All that might mean is there was some other communication in which Benoit may have called, instead of texting someone, and said his wife died.
Just when I thought this couldn't get any stranger...
Man, was it ip spoofing? Is Kevin Sullivan going around murdering folks? What if it turns out when the tox comes back that they all had some poison in their system.

Benoit tries to contact his wife after leaving for the weekend she doesn't answer. He runs home finds family dead.

It sounds crazy but so does the fact that someone put what they put on wiki.

This just in from the Associated Press:

Benoit's Doctor's Office Raided in Probe

Federal drug agents and sheriff's officials have raided the offices of pro wrestler Chris Benoit's personal physician in search of records and other items, authorities said Thursday.

The raid at Dr. Phil Astin's office in Carrollton began Wednesday night and concluded early Thursday, said agent Chuvalo Truesdell, a spokesman for the Drug Enforcement Administration in Atlanta. The search warrant had been obtained in connection with the Benoit investigation, he said.

Hours before the raid, Astin told The Associated Press he had treated Benoit for low testosterone levels, which he said likely originated from previous steroid use.

No arrests were made and Truesdell was unable to say what was seized. He said records were among the items being sought, but he could not be more specific.

Astin did not return repeated calls to his cell phone from The Associated Press on Thursday.

Astin prescribed testosterone for Benoit, a longtime friend, in the past but would not say what, if any, medications he prescribed when Benoit visited his office Friday.

Benoit strangled his wife and smothered son during the weekend, placing Bibles next to their bodies, before hanging himself on the cable of a weight-machine in his home. No motive was offered for the killings, which were discovered Monday.

Anabolic steroids were found in Benoit's home, leading officials to wonder whether the drugs played a role in the slayings. Some experts believe steroids cause paranoia, depression and violent outbursts known as "roid rage."

Fayette County District Attorney Scott Ballard said in a statement Thursday that he could not immediately comment on the raid.

Also Thursday, Ballard told the AP that 10 empty beer cans were found in a trash can in the Benoit home. An empty wine bottle was found a few feet from where Benoit hanged himself, Ballard said.

It could take several weeks for toxicology tests to be completed on Benoit to see what medications, if any, were in his system.

In the days before the killings, Benoit and his wife argued over whether he should stay home more to take care of their mentally retarded 7-year-old son, according to an attorney for the WWE wrestling league.

The child suffered from a rare medical condition called Fragile X Syndrome, an inherited form of mental retardation often accompanied by autism.

I think you wasted your time posting it. There is no point in life worrying about what other people are saying. Especially when they're ignorant.

This is off-topic, but I read a statement about Mick Foley a few pages back.

Someone I knew passed away at 15 from a rare type of throat cancer. He was a big wrestling fan, so Mick met him before he died and also attended his funeral. He didn't want any recognition for it, it wasn't on the news or anything like that. His actions just portray how nice of a guy he is.

Just a little note about him for anyone who's interested.

JBL's commentary:

I want to say my thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by the horrific events that happened this past weekend with the Benoit family. I have never been this close to a tragedy of this scale, and still have no understanding how this incomprehensible thing could have happened.

I knew the family well, and I don’t want to add my speculation to what happened. I just want to say, I wish it never had, I think it is deplorable and my heart is broken that it did.
I think that sums up how every logical person is looking at this.

no offense to any of the Beniot fans on this forum.
but he's pretty much a piece of shit for killing his family, whether he was a good wrestler or not.

say what you will.
but seriously, whether he was fucking famous or not, i feel like some people are blinded by his popularity and not seeing what this man actually did. If this would have been anyone else all i would see would be post about how horrible that person is.

well guess im calling everyone out.
Chris Benoit is a bitch.

what? I see you haven't read this thread at all. Majority of the people think he's in the wrong. I lot of us were Benoit fans, but after the details came out everyone lost whatever they had for him.

just to go off topic for a bit...does anyone else see the messed up quotes?

Like this?

Now to get back on topic..

I agree with above poster...many of the people who praised Benoit have now come to see him as a cold blooded murderer.

SS Billy Graham and Debra are on Hannity and Colmes right now. Billy Graham is giving his "opinion" on steriods and their relation to the tragedy. As expected he has Vince's back.

No one was making excuses. People are just trying to figure out why. You say you've read this thread but have you noticed after reading someones post, on what they thought happened. They would say It makes no excuse for what he did.

I took the events hard but I was expressing my thoughts with anger and sorrow. Now after letting everything soak in, I just want the WWE to ensure that wrestlers and their families are given help if needed. I never want to see this effect the wrestling biz ever again

I'm still weirded out by the Wikipedia thing. There are two possibilities I can think of:

1) It was just some eerily coincidental spam

2) Benoit told SOMEONE that Nancy was dead, word got around the office, and some low-level employee or intern decided to post it. But that right there is a pretty major piece of info. No reports have said anything about Benoit telling people Nancy was dead. Which means somebody isn't talking.

I don't see why you would be disgusted. Like two or three people said that he's still a good wrestler to them. Then us the former fans jumped on them for saying that. When Hartman died it was a sad day. Great actor, comedian.

ATLANTA, Georgia (AP) -- Investigators are looking into who altered pro wrestler Chris Benoit's Wikipedia entry to mention his wife's death hours before authorities discovered the bodies of the couple and their 7-year-old son.
Benoit's Wikipedia entry was altered early Monday to say that the wrestler had missed a match two days earlier because of his wife's death.
A Wikipedia official, Cary Bass, said Thursday that the entry was made by someone using an Internet protocol address registered in Stamford, Connecticut, where World Wrestling Entertainment is based.
An IP address, a unique series of numbers carried by every machine connected to the Internet, does not necessarily have to be broadcast from where it is registered. The bodies were found in Benoit's home in suburban Atlanta, Georgia, and it's not known where the posting was sent from, Bass said.
Benoit strangled his wife and son during the weekend, placing Bibles next to their bodies, before hanging himself on the cable of a weight-machine in his home, authorities said. No motive was offered for the killings, which were discovered Monday.
Officials raid office of Benoit's doctor

Also Thursday, federal drug agents said they had raided the west Georgia office of a doctor who prescribed testosterone to Benoit.
The raid at Dr. Phil Astin's office in Carrollton began Wednesday night and concluded early Thursday, said agent Chuvalo Truesdell, a spokesman for the Drug Enforcement Administration. No arrests were made.
Hours before the raid, Astin told The Associated Press he had treated Benoit for low testosterone levels, which he said likely originated from previous steroid use.
Among other things, investigators were looking for Benoit's medical records to see whether he had been prescribed steroids and, if so, whether that prescription was appropriate, according to a law enforcement official speaking on condition of anonymity because records in the case remain sealed.
Astin prescribed testosterone for Benoit, a longtime friend, in the past but would not say what, if any, medications he prescribed when Benoit visited his office Friday.
State medical records show that Astin's privileges were suspended for three months in 2001 at a Georgia hospital for "reasons related to competence or character."
Astin did not return calls to his cell phone from the AP on Thursday.
Anabolic steroids were found in Benoit's home, leading officials to wonder whether the drugs played a role in the killings. Some experts believe steroids cause paranoia, depression and violent outbursts known as "roid rage."
Fayette County District Attorney Scott Ballard said in a statement Thursday that he could not immediately comment on the raid.
Benoit's page on Wikipedia, a reference site that allows users to add and edit information, was updated at 12:01 a.m. Monday, about 14 hours before authorities say the bodies were found. The reason he missed a match Saturday night was "stemming from the death of his wife Nancy," it said.
Reporters informed the Fayette County district attorney's office of the posting Thursday, and the agency forwarded the information to sheriff's investigators, who are looking into it, a legal assistant said in an e-mail to the AP.
WWE attorney Jerry McDevitt said that to his knowledge, no one at the WWE knew Nancy Benoit was dead before her body was found Monday afternoon. Text messages released by officials show that messages from Chris Benoit's cell phone were being sent to co-workers a few hours after the Wikipedia posting.
WWE employees are given WWE e-mail addresses, McDevitt said, though he did not know whether Chris Benoit had one.
"I have no idea who posted this," McDevitt said. "It's at least possible Chris may have sent some other text message to someone that we're unaware of. We don't know if he did. The phone is in the possession of authorities."
On Thursday afternoon, the Wikipedia page about Benoit carried a note stating that editing by unregistered or newly registered users was disabled until July 8 because of vandalism.
In other developments Thursday, Ballard told the AP that 10 empty beer cans were found in a trash can in the Benoit home. An empty wine bottle was found a few feet from where Benoit hanged himself, Ballard said.
It could take several weeks for toxicology tests to be completed on Benoit to see what substances, if any, were in his system.
Benoit took four months off from work in 2006 for undisclosed personal reasons, McDevitt said.
"He was feeling depressed, that kind of thing," McDevitt said.
In the days before the killings, Benoit and his wife argued over whether he should stay home more to take care of their mentally retarded 7-year-old son, according to an attorney for the WWE wrestling league.
The child had a rare medical condition called Fragile X Syndrome, an inherited form of mental retardation often accompanied by autism.
Chris Benoit's father, Michael Benoit, declined to comment on the slayings when reached Thursday by telephone in Alberta, Canada. Funeral arrangements were incomplete.

Chris Benoit's Web Bio Gets a Chilling Update

THURSDAY JUNE 28, 2007 09:00 PM EDT
Somebody altered Chris Benoit's entry in Wikipedia to mention his wife's death – before her body was found.

The Web bio was changed early Monday to say the pro wrestler missed a match over the weekend because his wife had died. Hours later, authorities found the bodies of the World Wrestling Entertainment star, his wife and their 7-year-old son.

Cary Bass of Wikipedia traced the alteration to somebody using an Internet protocol address registered in Stamford, Conn., the home base of World Wrestling Entertainment, according to the Associated Press.

An IP address, however, doesn't have to be broadcast from its registration location. Bass said it was unknown where the posting was sent from, the AP reports.

The bodies were found in the family's suburban Atlanta home. Authorities say Benoit asphyxiated his wife Nancy and their son Daniel before hanging himself.

I don't mind those comments, you're nobody and you're opinion is worth less than shit, but thanks for the input.

Let's get one thing clear; I'm not saying what Benoit did was right, I'm not saying that whether or not he was a bad person or not. All I'm saying was that he seemed to be a decent person, was the greatest pro wrestler ever, and happened to have a decent sized impact during my teens / tweens. It's sad that he reached a point in his life were he did what did. No one should die by the hands of others, no matter what.

Not sure if it was posted yet or not but a pic surfaced of Benoit at the doctors office on friday, hours before killing Nancy. Look down one post.

That doesn't look like a maniacal killer to me, just the same ole Benoit I've known since 1999. I guess that's the saddest part; this isn't someone who looks / acts the part of some cold, calm killer, it would way easier dealing with this if he did.

In related news, FOXNews.com also has learned, through widely posted Web reports, that former pro wrestler Sherri Martel, who was found dead on June 15, was linked to former wrestler Kevin Sullivan — ex-husband of Nancy Benoit.

Martel, who had a reputation as one of the top managers in pro wrestling, was found dead at her mother’s home in near Birmingham, Ala., on June 15. She was 49.

Investigators, who have not yet determined Martel's cause of death, say foul play is not suspected but that Martel did not die of natural causes.

Quote comes from the above article. Apparently, Sherri Martel was dating Kevin Sullivan. It just gets weirder and weirder.

I just watched this story on WSB. The lady who took the pictures (wisely) decided not to let them air the photos that included her.

DA Scott Ballard was supposed to have a press conference earlier Thursday to announce the arrest of Chris' doctor but it didn't happen. His arrest will probably take place Friday.

That is a pretty disturbing shirt. I'm impressed that you were able to distinguish it that easily. You must have either recently seen it or own one yourself

Well, there’s no need to wait until we have our heads wrapped around this, because I doubt that’ll happen, so here it is. I know that a monster committed those terrible, unforgivable acts of horror. Just like everyone who knew Chris Benoit, I can’t think of him as a monster. Not Chris.

Chris was truly a role model’s role model. You simply had to respect him and admire his focus and unmatched discipline. If I ever got asked a question about who I looked up to the most in the business, you guessed it. That’s me sharing a real feeling with you. Not talking about bull shit that I have little interest in, like who would I like most to wrestle with, or what’s my favorite color, but who I actually looked up to in the dressing room. It’s Chris Benoit- in the ring and in the dressing room and with his family.

The last time I talked to Chris, a few weeks ago, he told me how much he respected me for stepping away from the business. His message now comes to me from beyond. He said “Some of us don’t know when to get out.” I told him that I always held a little contempt for him telling me back in 1992 that I was a dumb-ass for wanting to quit WCW, and mentioned the irony.

Over the last several years, on overseas tours I’d always see Chris in the gym when the other guys were recovering from the night before. He’d train hard and sometimes I’d see him allowing young wrestlers to follow his lead and get a guaranteed killer workout. He took pride in what he did and set a great example for others, myself included, to follow.

How many murderers…baby murderers at that… are praised so highly by EVERYONE who knew them? This is all so bizarre and new information seems to come out every few hours but I can’t imagine we’ll ever understand what happened here. It appears that Chris took the answers with him. To tell you the honest truth, the easiest thing for me to believe at this moment is that if no frame work was involved, he was taken over by demonic energies with no compassion. I have to believe this is often the case with such inhumane acts.

Nancy, Daniel and Chris’ tragic deaths obviously have affected a lot of people. Just remember, there’s enough hate in this world. Hateful thoughts do not move us in the right direction, so make a conscious effort to remember that. It’s important now and always.

Rob Van Dam pretty much sums up how I feel about this entire incident, probably better than I have been doing.

Look at the eyes on Benoit.. he looks absent. He doesn't look normal.

..or maybe it's because I've never really seen him smile or smirk. But he doesn't look right.

The story is on CourtTV right now. Chris Jericho and a host of other people are analyzing this whole thing. just to let everyone know if you guys wanted to watch something more about it.
