picked up Haunt..........Its by far one of my favorites and pretty much has brought me back in to reading books again. Ryan Ottley's artwork in it is friggin AMAZING!!!!!!!
Anybody know how many hardcover collections there are so far of post-BND Amazing Spider-Man? The only one I have is New Ways to Die.
Not sure but much of BND is passable. New Ways to Die was good and IMO is when Spidey started getting good again.
how long has marvel been doing mature comics?
Probably since they dropped the CCA back in 2001 and started up the MAX imprint.
I don't blame you. As someone who just started reading the series, buying the hard covers was annoying as hell since they're not numbered, and the series starts over twice.

Yeah, I was browsing a few places and was really confused by what order hardcovers were in. The wiki was a bit helpful, but I'd like to know how the books go together. Got the original hardcover on Ebay a few years ago and was hooked. And now I'm trying to piece together the rest of the series, 1 or 2 books at a time.
Then to further add to my confusion, there appear to be some coming out next year, that look like older ones. I'm so confused and haven't found anything good or reliable that says the specific order. Can you point me in the right direction Rei?
Thanks for the help with The Runaways. I didn't notice the hardcover list at the bottom until I did another look over. Looks like Vol 3 is a pain to find cheap.
I know I've mentioned this before but the Ares mini series is a great read. Just finished issue #2 and I'm sad to see it end with the next one. Some of the best parts is when he's talking to his band of hand picked soliders about his past war experience. It's intresting to see the interaction between mortal soliders and the god of war himself. My favorite thing about Ares (especailly in this series) is that he gets his point across with such few words.
I've continually skipped the Ares mini. I just don't like the character at all. Granted I don't hate him like I do Sentry and Deadpool, but I still could quite easily do without him. I might pick up the first issue though just to see what it's like.
I was never a big fan of him either. I always saw him as a poor-man's Herc or Thor (which is joked about often). But he's had a few key moments over the years that made me a fan. His recent appearance in Secret Warriors is good too.

areas is pretty damn cool. i never liked the mythological characters in either comics world but theyve done alot of cool things with ares, thor and hercules. marvel has gone above and beyond to mix things up in their comic world where before it seemd like one group fought these guys and stayed here and another roup fought these guys and stayed here.
its cool to see doom fighting gods/goddesses and spiderman eating hotdogs with ms marvel. some of the heros/vilans kids are interesting too sucks that sabretooth didnt have a kid ( one who could figght anyway).
Was that Ms. Marvel/Spider-Man date issue any good? It sounded intresting.
it was imo. just because it showed an interesting thing about peter and his obsession over having very little money. i didnt expect much from it but towards then end i wonder if they wont end up hooking up. the guy definetly deserves it after all the shit luck hes had with women. it was a very odd and funny comic. its also cool to see that even heros who fight with and know each other very well still have uncomfortable first dates lol.
So what does everyone think about the Earth-One announcement from DC?
Don't we already have an Earth One of sorts called the All Star line?
Plus don't we already have a sweet ass re-telling of Superman called Superman: Secret Origins? Honestly, what's the point of re-doing their origins for a new generation? EVERYONE knows the Batman and Superman origin. I Kinda understand that this is an excuse for new people to pick it up and see Bruce Wayne as Batman as opposed to Dick Grayson, but c'mon. In the end it'll always come back to the original Universe so this just feels pointless.
Love the new sig by the way.
Detective Comics gets better and more beautiful every month. If you like comics and you're not reading this then you're insane.
Jesus, the last few pages where you see Batman painted and Kate and everything else done in the usual colors was friggin gorgeous. Plus I love the origin so far because it gives her so much more personality or motive in those two issues so far then alot of other characters. Love love LOVE this series.
Noh-Varr finally gets to be Captain Marvel, costume is kinda ugly though. I expect whoever draws it next will clean it up a bit and hopefully get either the star or Kree saturn-y logo in it
Did anyone check out the Dark Avengers Annual

i like that guy and his fight with sentry was pretty cool.
yeah batman should stay dead longer its been cool seeing how everyone is dealing with his death especially those he worked closely with. though that bit with him in darkest night was sick to see i always wondered why that guy didnt bring him back like he did the others. if he does return though will be become batman again or will he stay on the sidelines and maybe focus on being bruce more?

That costume was hideous.
So I'm sure you guys have heard Bruce's journey starts up come April. We all know he was going to be coming back but this just seems a bit too soon.
I really hope when he comes back he doesn't go right back to being Batman. I'm enjoying Dick as Batman, and it's way too soon for him to give up the cowl.
He appears in that as well, and I think it's supposed to be his first post-Reborn appearance. I think Reborn is a few months behind schedule. There's also the possibility that Marvel is doing this intentionally and it's the version of Cap from the end of Reborn Issue 3.
So, now that Batman has gotten a proper video game treatment this generation, any chance we will finally get a good Superman game?
what no love for superman 64? id be up for them making a justice league game or maybe a 3d enviroments justice league fighting game. an open sandbox fighting game if you will.
They can make a good Superman game once they figure out a way to actually hurt the er without insulting everyone's intelligence.
that could be done if you do the whole turn the earth sun into a red sun so that over time he loses his powers and he needs to fix it within a set amount of days before hes completly powerless and easily killed.
You don't even need to have Superman be hurt, though the idea of using a red sun isn't terrible. You can just set the game up where Superman cannot fail certain objectives, or else the game is over. And obviously, there can also be boss battles where Superman getting hurt does not seem silly or forced.

the red sun idea came from one of those old superman cartoons they used to show in the 90s. if they did it like the siderman/ hulk games ( random events you can choose to do or not do but have those events affect what happens in the game world.
you also need completly destructable environments that way boss battles and fights have consequences. id also like to see the use his super speed ability ( you never see him run fast in a game). toss in the random team ups with diff heroes against villians and fun hidden things you can find using his powers.
definetly need to be able to combine and manipulate his powers to make diff things happen or solve problems.

Just use Superman's old weakness of magic.

I Guess that can work. It's only way you can shoot a missile at Superman and actually have him stagger a bit. I'm still waiting for an actual Superman game that remembers he also has super speed as well though.

Didn't the Superman Returns video game do that? Plus wouldn't the game really be one giant escort or protect the "..." missions? AKA The most horrible game ever.
Just use Superman's old weakness of magic.
Superman can't spend a whole game fighting magicians, demons and people from a heavy metal album cover. This isn't a Spawn video game.
btw when does the next issue of kick-ass come out?
Hopefully before the movie is out, but Mark Millar is one slow ass jive turkey. Plus now he wants to direct movies too...
As the other poster said, they can have fully destructible environments and have there be consequences to what Superman does. After all, that is a theme that has been touched upon in different mediums. You have all this power at your hands, but you were to fully unleash them at the wrong time, it would be a disaster. And just because Superman Returns blew doesn't mean a game like that would. It blew because it was a half-assed, rushed, movie tie-in cash cow.
I Keep thinking Superman III for some reason. Like if you just act as an asshole Superman your costume turns into a darker tint, grow a stubble and you drink.
more than that itd be cool to fight zod and those other 2 aliens who were with him. imagine having to deal with 3 other kryptonians all the while trying to keep your fight from completly wrecking the city and should you do damamge to the city having to choose to keep the civilians caught up in it safe or letting them die. itd also be cool to be able to do things as clark kent as well keeping a balance between both lives.
