Comic Book Discussion Thread (Marvel, DC, Image, Dark Horse, Top Cow, IDW, Indy, etc)
:applause: Exactly!! It seems they hype every story just to sell comics, and then to sell more they have variant covers!! Then when it is all said and done, everything goes back to normal (the way it was before the great earth shaking story). The dead have always come back at Marvel.

Unfortunately, DC decided they were lagging behind moneywise and started doing the same crap! :bomb:

I won't even get started on the whole Bruce Wayne:whistle2:#......:bomb:
DC is just as bad and a very good case could be made that they're worse. In the last 20 years they've practically gone down the list of their major (and minor characters) like a hitman. Marvel is just as bad at this point but haven't been doing it as long. Regardless, both companies are so predictable at this point that one would have to be an absolute fool to actually believe that either DC or Marvel isn't killing a character off just to boost sales and then bring them back to juice sales again. Killing off a chraracter is just lazy because everyone knows how it's going to end.
Oh I definitely read it, and that part was hilarious. I had been looking forward to the Jubilee section, and I ended up liking the other part more.
Didja see Fantomex was in one of the other Mutie books as well?

Yup it was a couple issues ago in Uncanny. I thought that was awesome as well.

Hey, any of you guys use a mail order service? I need to leave my service because they've had to increase their shipping, no longer cost effective.

Anybody read batman and robin issue 7?

Spoilers:

Why would Grayson do that!? I guess its a way bring a shock or something or watever but that doesn't seem like Grayson at all.

I use midtowncomics.com and I am very satisfied with their service. They bag and board every comic and then wrap in bubble wrap. I live all the way in Guam right now but I liked to drop by their stores in NYC whenever I had a chance. Check them out.
Morrison is waaaay too hit (WE3, Marvel Boy, JLA, All Star Superman) or miss (Final Crisis, Batman RIP, Seven Soldiers).
It's not that he's hit or miss, it's that he can't structure a major story without fucking up any semblance of an ending - like he runs out of time. He reminds me of every show writer faced with an unexpected cancellation before the season is over: quickly tie-up a planned two-year storyline in 3 episodes. He stretches the beginning of a storyline out, then is forced to condense the climax and denouement into one issue. Every fucking story arc that man has written seems to get amended by one more issue (halfway through) and finishes up a convolute mess. Even with his JLA run being as awesome as it was, Rock of Ages went from 5 to 6 and World War III went from 6 to 7 - both stumbling at the end. Hell, after reading Final Crisis I think the man really needed another couple of issues. Maybe then I would've gotten more than: I don't know what the fuck is going on, but there seems to be a black Superman and Batman shot Darkseid.

yeah especially since ( aside from that guy pretending to be bruce and spending tons of money) hes got everything under control. besides i doubt bruce would be happy with him doing that . that is if it actually works.

I might have to check them out too. My local comic store just went out of business and there are not that many comic retailers around me in Ga.

I've checked out a few online places, but I can't do it. I've been going to my LCS for YEARS. I get the kind of service there you just don't find at other places. I don't even have to ask for things, the owner knows exactly what I like and puts it aside for me when it comes in. I get a 20% discount, and preferential treatment. Sure I could save more money going other places, but there's more important things to me than saving a few bucks every week.

Anyone else reading Red Robin? I think it's been really good. Probably my favorite Bat book after Batman and Robin. Oh, and Siege #2 was terrible. fucking hate the Sentry.

I'm loving the GI Joe: Origins series. Picked up the Baroness issue this weekend, along with the GI Joe: Cobra #1. Wishing I had a local shop so I could actually keep up with reading series instead of randomly getting issues/back issues.

Where are you in GA?

My problem with Seige is the incident that sparked it. Oddly enough the Chicago incident (killing over 2,000 people) doesn't seem to be carrying as much weight as the Stamford incident (which killed around 600).

I love the fact that the Holy Trinity of the Avengers are getting back together, but I must admit I was expecting a bit more.

The incident was completely pointless.

Sounds like a Marvel crossover! Scarlet Witch's out of no where PMS mood swing is in good company!

I see the point to it, but it wasn't fleshed out very well. I think the problem is the crappy Fronline/Embedded series that's following along with Seige. The Civil War: Frontline was quite good and it complimented the Civil War series very well. But this Seige Embedded is just another: Normal Man Ben Urich Adventures comic.
Where are you in GA?
I am in the Cumming area.

It was comic crusade that shut down.

I have been to galatix comics in Buford, but it wasn't a too inviting store. So i won't go back.

Any locations peeps might know of, could be helpful. I might either find a location that is in Atlanta and just go every few weeks instead of every week or check into online distribution.

Just got a paperback called The Mice Templar since comic crusade has everything 50% off. Pretty cool concept and story, i will have to get the rest of the collection now.
The incident was completely pointless.
I'm offended that the fat man, Volstagg was the cause of the incident.

Plus, I'm so fucking sick of Iron Patriot and Sentry.

So Osborn manufactured this incident so he would be allowed to invade Asgard, correct? Incident occurs, he goes to invade and the government says no. Osborn says "fuck you" and invades anyway. So what was the point?

Loki is a major player in all of this, he basically convinced Osborne to do what he is doing now. That, and Osborne is finally braeking down mentally.

If you're in the Kennesaw area you should definitely check out Dr. No's Comics & Games. A huge selection of comics and probably the biggest section of TPB's you've ever seen. I've been going there for years.

It's pretty clear from the issue #1 cover, the point is to get the Avengers back together. But the stadium incident & Caps resurrection are being dealt with on the same severity as Speedball getting his cat back. But be honest, it's not a terrible read or else you wouldn't bother with issue #2. It has been underwhelming, but I will say it's more engaging than Secret Invasion.

I really like Coipel's art and his run on the Thor series. In fact I might be a bit favorable towards Siege for the fact that Thor is my #1 favorite comic book hero.

Cool, thanks for the info.

I work in Alpharetta so it doesn't seem as far to run by their after work or something.

I rather shop at a comic store that others recommend, than just show up at some random place.
But be honest, it's not a terrible read or else you wouldn't bother with issue #2.
That's really not a good example to use with me lol. As I mentioned in the GGT, I play/read/watch things I don't like all the time. I do so that I can discuss them and actually know what I'm talking about. I'll admit that it's not utterly horrible. I mean it's definitely no Countdown, but it's also not very good either.

The Sentry is going to get so fucked up by Phobas for killing Ares.
The Sentry is going to get so fucked up by Phobas for killing Ares.
I was wondering what they were going to do about that.

I mean, can you even kill a god? Ares is going to pop right back lol in Sentry's face and then continue fighting.

I would like some else besides hulk take Sentry down, since they already did that for WWH. They better not get some psychic to "brain attack" Sentry and call it a day.
I play/read/watch things I don't like all the time.
Sounds expensive. But I understand, once I start a book I almost always finish it regardless. The most recent offender is Ultimatum. fucking terrible, but I guess I wanted to see just how terrible it would get.

im betting thats some kind of setup to have his kid step up and kick some ass. his son almost beat him when they fought so its not hard to believe with that sword that he could kill or beat sentry.

I think you pretty much nailed it.

Ares son, god of fear against Sentry. A schizophrenic head case with Void issues :p

I had no idea that Wolverine had a son Daken, or about Romulus. I've been out of the loop too long.

Sounds stupid though, are they saying that most of the feral type mutants evolved from dogs? Romoulus is described as a lupine and looks like a werewolf.

Well, now wolverine has a son in Ultimate X. But yea Daken is a chud, and a dumb idea.
Yeah what about this guy? Are they just pretending Daken doesn't exist? And what about X-23? She still around?
shes a member of xforce now. and theyre now kinda basically the blackops/mercenary arm of the xmen.

Daken is a weird character. He's got daddy issues which makes him a little bitch. Also I think he's bisexual. He's always making sexual comments towards Bullseye to get under his skin, but I think there some truth to it. I find him to be an interesting character, but certainly not a favorite.

yeah ive noticed that he said the same kind of shit to the thing when he broke into the FF head quarters. i know hes supposed to be into playing mind games but he just comes off like someone deflecting his own insecurities onto others.

He can also manipulate people easy cause he has some kind of pheromone power (similar to Spider-Woman.) Daken's power works on both sexes, in fact I think he uses it in his fight with The Thing. No one knows he has this power since he's never disclosed that info to anyone, maybe except Romulas.

He's not a terrible character. But I will say I hate his stpid looking hair cut.

I'd like to know who thought it was a good idea to basically give wolverine a family. Dude was fine as a loner. Now we've got all of these kids/clones running around.
I'd like to know who thought it was a good idea to basically give wolverine a family. Dude was fine as a loner. Now we've got all of these kids/clones running around.
well now hes got a gf so i wonder how long till the kids meet her lol.

btw wtf happened to sabretooth ? i thought he was dead but after reading weapon x wolverine made it seem like he was still alive.

I like X-23 too, and I don't think Daken is all that bad, but he's not as awesome as Rocket Raccoon.
btw wtf happened to sabretooth ? i thought he was dead but after reading weapon x wolverine made it seem like he was still alive.
I'm pretty sure he's still dead. I haven't read the Weapon X Wolverine series yet but does it take place in during the current storyline?

Wolverine cut off Sabretooth's head but it's comics so no one ever--EVER--stays dead. One of my biggest complaints about the medium.

- Daken will eventually kill Wolverine with the Muramasa blade
- All his pals get together and reverse the effects of the blade. Wolvrine lives
- In turn Sabretooth comes back to life

I don't mind characters returning from the dead, but have it make as much sense as possible. For example: someone like Thanos I can see returning, his gf is Death so he gets a free pass. But the worst possible example: When Aunt May died it was revealed that she was actually a "genetically-altered actress" who only impersonated the real May while she was held captive. I wish comics would get beyond this kind of lazy writing.

I was reading about the Muramasa blade and don't understand something. If the metal was bonded to his claws, wouldn't Daken also lose his healing ability?

Or it was really a Skrull masquerading as the character when they were "killed".

The way the blade works is it doesn't nullify the entire healing ability, just what the sword itself cuts. Also the blade is infused into his middle blade which he rarely uses.

Wait, so Wolverine has a girlfriend? Who? I have been reading pretty much all xtitles and i haven't seen much of a thing happening. Unless Jean Grey came back within the week i haven't bought any comics yet. lol, or wait until Hope shows up at the Xmansion. She will be Wolvies new GF.

And how did Sabertooth get resurrected?
