Also anyone and expert on old Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comics? I'm interested in buying one but don't know what I should look for. I'd like to get something nice around the price range of $50-$100
I am an expert on any comic pre-2000. :D

What would you like to know? Most issues above number 18 you can probably find for $2-$3 each at shows.

All TMNT issues have sold higher on ebay for the past few years.

Even the TPBs are worth money nowadays. I have these which are early oversized (magazine sized) reprints:

http://www.amazon.com/Teenage-Mutan...9092/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1301768141&sr=8-1

http://www.amazon.com/Teenage-Mutant-Ninja-Turtles-Yearling/dp/091541922X/ref=pd_sim_b_2

I would recommend these since the first 6 issues are tough to find. Realistically you could find the rest on ebay, but people pay way more than book value for the old ones. I think TMNT and The Tick are the two series that Overstreet undervalues.

I'm looking to buy more for collector purposes instead of reading. If I could find a decent price I'd shell out some money for one comic. I'd like to get as close to 1st edition as possible but I know the original run is virtually impossible to find.

The magazine sized comics sound interesting. I'd like to find one within the issue #1-6 range. I just don't know how much they're worth.

Just ordered the Legion of Superheroes: Great Darkness Saga Deluxe Edition. Can't wait to read it. I remember having the that last issue of that storyline when I was in middle school.

These are first printing prices in very fine (about an 8.0 out of 10) condition.

#1 Anywhere from $500-$3000
#2 $70 (1984)
#3 $52 (1985 44 pgs)
#4 $34 (1985 44 pgs)
#5 $20 (1985)
#6 $14 (1986)

All of those issues have multiple printings, so you will have to check the date on each issue to see if they are a first print. The 2nd, 3rd, and 4th printings will have a later date and since they are indie comics they may not reflect the usual "2nd printing" note you would find on a Marvel or DC comic.

2nd printings are usually worth between $8-$15 for issues 1-6, but it is really difficult to find even a 2nd print at that price in nice condition.

Thanks for the info, that's really helpful. My local store has issue #3 & 4. I didn't check the price but I asked the clerk what's the story behind them, but he didn't know and suggested I stop buy at another time when the owners there. Now I'll go back armed with the info you gave me and see what I can get. I'd gladly spend $34 on a 1st print of issue #4.

I've always been intrigued by in the first TMNT comics. When I saw them in the store it rekindled that interest.

Just for the record, you can usually get #4 on eBay for around $20, but you will have to watch the auctions and make sure they are 1st prints by contacting the seller.

Personally I would go for number 3. They go for about $30 on ebay and high grade copies will always be in demand. If your comic store is hurting to make a sale they may take a low offer. Just be aware that you need to make sure it is the 44 page version. The second printing has an additional back up story, so it will probably have some extra pages.

I would verify they are first prints with the owner and see what he wants for them. If it were me I wouldn't pay more than $10 each for them. Just remember they are only worth what someone else is willing to pay.

There is always room for negotiation. If his price is too high, I would wait until I came back to the store a month later and say "So you still have those turtle comics, would you take $xx for them?"

Double post... sorry.

Got a stack of comics today so I read Ultimate Spidey #155,156. Bagley returns, yaaaaaaaay. Still a great read but Bendis doing something drastic with the character kinda scares me.

Finally read the one-shot Fear Itself: Prologe. Compared to other big events this one has almost zero build up.

Also read Avengers #11 which was boring till the last page. Anything with
Thanos
is a win for me. I was wondering when he might pop up. You can't have a
Infinity Gems arc without a little Thanos. I hope he beats the shit out of The Hood. I'm getting sick of him.

Not sure how much you're actually in the know about what Mirage has been up to lately, but they've actually been putting quite a bit on ebay. Co-creator Peter Laird decided to cut back on his massive TMNT collection since he's trying to move on with his life after the sale took place. They've been going through boxes of the stuff over the past 2-3 months... Anyway, they update on what's going on every once in a while here:

http://www.miragelicensing.com/

They've listed everything from TPB, to first and second editions, to random memorablia and toys. Oh, and good luck! :)

That prologue wasn't a build up at all. I just ordered number 1 today, so i won't be able to read how it starts until Monday or so.

That Avengers has me interested though, with The Hood being way over his head. I was surprised how Romita drew The Watcher though. Looked like a powerlifter. :p

I enjoyed the lsat page though. I haven't seen anything with
Thanos
since i just started reading Avengers since Civil War.

Romita's Uatu looked fat. It took me a second to figure out that was the Watcher. I guess he went on an eating depression after the Rulk knocked his ass out.

And thanks for the heads up on the TMNT comics. I'll keep a look out.

Just finished reading the return of Bruce Wayne (ugh, total crap!) and New Krypton, Last Stand of New Krypton and War of the Supermen. I rather enjoyed New Krypton, and Last Stand continued well, but War of the Supermen fizzled off..
Word on the street is Fear Itself is gud.
It's not. It's
tony-the-tiger-frosties.jpg

I picked up Fear Itself but noticed that there was also another Fear Itself title. Is it worth it to buy the other titles? I do agree that Fear Itself seems pretty good (and the only Marvel book I read is Uncanny X-Force).

Fear Itself: The Home Front. It's a collection of of short stories that will run through the 7 issue series. I read the first issue and it was pretty good. It's similar in tone to Civil War: Front Line and World War Hulk: Front Line. It gives a more "man on the street" vibe to the event.

What short stories are involved in Home Front? I'm guessing a Ben Urich story is in there. I didn't care much for the Hulk and Secret Invasion Frontline series so I'm a bit wary of this.

Anyone read Herc #1 yet? Looking forward to that.

I think I know why Fear Itself is a Marvel event I can get behind...there's no more Sentry. I cannot understand why the Marvel honchos let Bendis get away with crowbarring this meaningless character into every single event of the last five years. I've got nothing against you if you liked the Sentry but I don't think I've ever hated a comic book character more than him. So for the first time in a really long while, hearing the words "A Marvel Comics Event" doesn't make me feel nauseous.

its prettty good definelty a title worth reading especially since now i guess hes
mortal
. i still hope ares comes back someday they brought back zeus so why not him?

Yeah, if you read Chaos War you'd now how he become
mortal
I just hope it goes back to the lighthearted humor which made Incredible Herc such a fun read. I could have done without the whole killing him off only to bring him back just as quick.

I don't think anyone liked the Sentry. I didn't hate the character but he was defiantly shoved down our throat a bit too much.

There's stories about Robbie Baldwin/Speedball, Agents of Atlas, a story about Broxton, and a quick page long JJJ story.

The Speedball story will be 7 parts(ie in every HF issue), and the Atlas story'll be 4 parts.

The Speedball story is interesting, and I'm a sucker for Atlas.

i wonder wtf they did with the night thrashers body guess its probably sitting in a lab somewhere but itd be cool if they bring him back. also what happened to his brother?

That would be cool if they brought back Sentry from Fear Itself.

I read Fear Itself #1 last night and i thought it was good so far. Even though i hate Red Skull Jr.

As for Sentry, I liked his mini books, Paul Jenkins can be a fantastic writer. Bendis sucked at writing the Sentry though and I'm glad he's dead now. I hated having him shoved everywhere.

So I found a stack of old comics and it sure brings back memories.

Anyway, I ordered some boards and bags but ended up with 50 too many. Anyone want to buy them off me?

Too much Marvel Talk going on in here. Did pick up first issue of Godzilla with my Comic Stores variant cover. Not that big a Godzilla fan but, I support my comic shop.

I did, too. I haven't read the issue because Godzilla is pretty lame, but I do support my shop. Reminds me of the Mystery Society store variants. God, I fucking miss Mystery Society. Probably Steve Niles best work and nobody read it because it didn't have 30 Days of Night in the name. Fionna Staples is one damned amazing artist, too.

My friend has all of the Lock & Key trades and said I need to borrow them some time. I saw the upcoming release in this month's previews and thought about adding it to my pull list but it seems like a series that you can't just randomly drop in on.

Did anyone pick up Axe Cop: Bad Guy Earth? That comic is pretty funny and a nice change of pace.

Oh and did I read it correctly that the mini spinoff American Vampire series isn't going to have Rafael Albuquerque doing the art? I'm still in for that as I love American Vampire. It'll just be different if he's not drawing it.

Sean Murphy will be penciling the American Vampire mini-series. So, it's in very capable hands. Sean Murphy is a great, young talent in the business. If you want to see some of his work just pick up the Joe The Barbarian TBP or HC once it's released from Vertigo.
Anyone else reading Brightest day?!
yeah and it was ok until that last one now theyre going all captain planet with things. alot of comic series lately have been going in odd directions.

Yeah, the direction with comics have been kind of out there. Though I do enjoy the odds and ends that come attached to Walking Dead. That one I appreciate each and every single thing that happens.

Just got around to finally reading Ultimate Spider-Man 157 and it was just okay. This whole build up of 'Death of Spider-Man' just seems like another story that might go no where.

Wait and see. Trust me. You may love it or you may hate it but something is definitely going to happen.

Do guys know of any place that you can "pre-order" comics as a one and done without having a monthly pull? I usually get to my "local" place about once a month and there are a few issues here and there I miss and I just want to make sure I get a few issues I don't want to miss.

Check out G mart's subscription service. I've never done it but I'm pretty sure theyll hold your order till you get o a specific dollar amount if you want.

Grabbed GI Joe: Cobra Civil War issue 0, loving it.

Picked up issue 2 of Infestation, can't find issue 1. Also got Spidergirl 1-4+the end since I have't read a Marvel series in a long time and they had all of the issues. Also grabbed Night of the Living Dead 3+4.. I had 1.. never found 2. :/

I wondering if Invincible Iron Man 503 (dubbed a Fear Itself tie-in) is going to continue the story with Otto Octavious or ignore it altogether.

Yeah, what was up with that Spider-Man zombie fortuneteller thing or something like that. They kinda threw him in there for one issue and never heard from him again.
