I fucking knew some BS like this with my automobile would happen. Two days after the warranty expires, the transmission takes a shit, and now I have to replace it. :[

Have you taken your car in yet? If not, look into those after market warranties and such. Worst case, don't divulge all of the information and wait like a week or so to file the claim....
 
I would take it in immediately anyway. If the warranty is out just two days, sometimes the car company will cut you some slack. But you'll probably have to bitch about how it broke just[ after warranty.
 
I may get this before I got to PAX. I think it looks sharp in silver and will pick up less fingerprints.

They carry the 15 inch model at BB and that is unique because it had a rubberized palm rest. they were supposed to get teh 14 inch, also rubberized, but they haven't carried it.

The next gen model was just revealed on anand yesterday. But I dunno if I want to wait. It's also probably going to be about a $100 more.

Well, I just got screwed.

First, it's gotten worse this afternoon, not better. The snow is just as heavy but it's icy now. And the wind has picked up, it's biting. I made it home from work okay, but it was trecherous in the development. Getting out of work early is a story itself, but it's too long.

Anywho, as I was leaving, I got called into storm duty. I'm supposed to report tomorrow morning at 6:30. Considering the roads, that my street hasn't been plowed since 7 AM, and how bad it is now, I don't think that's going to happen. The storm may end but the roads won't be clear enough by 6 AM.
 
Somehow we got missed, but the local school systems have shut down the last 2 days. Only like 3 or so inches here, compared to the 9-12 that were on the initial forecast.

Brilliant decision for a company that lost $17M last quarter.

Ugh. I guess when Win7 goes into sleep mode everything stops, like my defragmenter. It's been running since I left at 6:45 AM, now it's 4:22 PM, and it's only at 40%.

Warner's also pulling their new releases from Netflix for 28 days after release. They're bleeding cash, but I don't think this is where the wound is.
 
I think I'm going to officially avoid Samsung players now. First the DVD player I bought on Black Friday a few years back started skipping out of box and now my blu player is doing the same. WTF Samsung!

My bdp1600 "hiccuped" with some discs until I did the FW update. Are you running current FW?

I just updated yesterday. I've got a 1590 and it works fine with DVDs, but Blus not so much. I can get a decent way into movies and it just starts skipping or the sound goes out completely.

The problem is they're a dinosaur nowadays, and don't know what to do.

We're 3+ years into 2 HD disc formats, and they're surprised DVD sales are slowing. :roll:

When you say skip is the image briefly breaking into static or is it pixelating?
Just asking because I also had to replace some HDMI cables.

Pixelating. I think I may try switching HDMI cables. I have a generic hooked to the Blu and a Sony from the DVR to TV. Hopefully it's something simple and not something else altogether.

Edit: Or it's my player's way of telling me to stop watching Terminator Salvation
 
I would certainly try swapping them to see if it makes a difference.

Mine would pixellate/tear and eventually said "No Input" AS the HDMI was going bad. The static hiccup was the FW problem.

I'll give it a try. I just think it's weird only being a Blu issue and not DVD as well.

Maybe because there's a lot more information in blu data than in dvd data, so there's increased chance that you would see pixellation on the screen?

Probably.

Odd thing was, it was the Sony HDMI in the Blu and the generic in the DVR. Very interesting if that was the problem.
