CONTEST: Design a logo for CAG, win games!

I use Photoshop 7.0 and fireworks 4.0. I also do webpages. I don't do a whole lot graphically though. Just mess around a bit for fun.
 
I'm a fine artist, who did commercial art and design for print, web and video for several years. But now I'm back to painting, illustrating, mosaics and I'm Studio Director and instructor for a small non-profit arts program for developmentally disabled and mentally ill adults.

Strickly by you? By you but with some sway with voting? Strickly voting?

I personally thing internet voting is a bad idea since it's easilly spoofed.

but some explanation would be good.

I'm at Sacramento right now on a slow ass connection. Scored a lot of games from Circuit City to use it for the EB Games trade in. I just wanted to point out tha it should not be a public voting. It won't be fair because people that made banners could ask people who didn't to vote for them and they might listen.

You should make it so it's impossible for any kind of cheating to take place. But it's up to you, so whatever you do we have to go by. This is just a suggestion.
 
My mobile doesn't handle cookies correctly all the time, this is one of the only forums I can read without entering my username and pass everytime I load a new page.

Off topic, I suppose. Here: I can't wait to see the field of entries, and see some more things that aren't ust combinations of backgrounds, fonts and photoshop effects.

This is what (I'm assuming) what will happen. Cheapy will go through, and limit it to 10 entries or so. Puts up a voting thing, people vote. Even though its his decision in the end, the voting would make up, I dont know, maybe 40% of the final input.

Yeah, thats basically it.

Sorry for the delay, I've had some major issues with the site, including having the front page comments getting spammed like a mofo from these Viagra and penis enlargement bastards. I think I have that problem fixed, and you should notice a general increase in site speed as of this afternoon (entirely different issue).

I also had a problem with Windows Explorer on my home PC crashing when I try to orgainze these logos. I read somewhere that it has a problem with Adobe Illustrator files and I wasted time trying to deal with
that too.

My apologies and thanks to all of you who spent time working on these logos, it is greatly appreciated.
My goal is to have the finalists up by Friday.
 
CheapyD, are you going to eventually show all the entries, not just the 10 finalists. Like after the voting is over? I would love to see what some people came up with.

Sorry, I've been busy with other aspects of the site...I think you will be pleased when they finally launch.

I am shooting for Monday or Tuesday. Along with the finalists, I will also be announcing a new giveaway...

Sorry guys, but its hard work running a site, planning a marriage (and a SuperBowl party).

All I'd like to say is I gave cheapyd about 20 or so pics and I think he should be given the time he needs to keep up with both his life, and his site (which I think is just hobby). Hold your horses and let him look through them all. He did get 200 replies, which I think means EMAILS of stuff, not total number of pics. Correct me if I'm wrong, but a marriage and the superbowl are WAY more important (and fun, well, planning the wedding wont be) than surfing through a bunch of logo's.

Ya, foot ball does suck to watch, no offence, I like hockey way better. Football's fine to play, but it's horribly boring to watch. Oh, and while were on the topic of hockey... GO LEAFS GO!.
 
I finally have all the logos downloaded and will be putting up the best ones soon.

I know you guys think that running this site just entails posting deals, but I assure you that is not the case. There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes that is more imporant than this logo contest. Trust me.

The finalists will be posted when I am finished.
You guys had a month and a half to work on them, so give me time to look through them and give everyone a fair shot.

P.S. If you sent me more than 5 logos and you are complaining that I am taking too long, then shame on you! Looking back, it was a big mistake allowing you guys to send me more than one.

I would have told you such; it's the same reason I refused to enter defender's contest. Half of the people that submitted 20 logo's designed all crap, anyway, and are just doing anything to pad their chance to win.
 
I doubt that the people who submitted "20 crappy entries" just to pad their chances of winning would win. CheapyD is (from what I'm assuming) looking for something to actually use for his site that people can identify with his product (from product, I mean this site, Cheap Ass Gamer). I can't imagine that some random person who sent in an entry would win, regardless if the image was great or not. This is one of the reasons why it's taking so long for the finalists to show up (that, and what is going on in the webmaster's personal life). There are a lot of choices to pick from, and also consider what would work well as a somewhat professional logo that his site can be identified with. I'm sure that whoever wins this contest will have won fairly and have met the needs (or criteria) of the webmaster.

Now, there was a contest on GC Advanced where you had to create a new outfit for Vanessa of PN 03. I couldn't agree with the winners of that contest, because the new costumes looked like there were hardly any alterations from what she looked like originally. It seems like there the winners seemed to be picked at random.

But I don't think that will happen here, since what the contest asked for was a logo to help identify the site.

I never claimed it was being done randomly, but submit 20 entries and have 19 more chances to win.

mcwilliams better win this contest with the bullet hole CAG logo, that's damn awesome... the only thing man, you should have the CAG in green!

I was thinking it needed to be a MINIMAL logo -since that's what this place is all about: minimal money, time and effort for the biggest payoff.

You can vote for the logos by selecting "Rating" under each logo. The votes will be used as a reference only and will not decide the final winners.
