Holy shit, I'm moving to Tokyo in three weeks!
There's no way I can bring all my stuff with me, so one lucky CAG is going to win 30+ games and a bunch of shwag (E3, TGS, etc.).

Simply post in this thread for a chance to win.
You must post something about Japan, winning my games, or what you would like to see me do (for your amusement) once I am living in Tokyo.

You may post as often as you wish, but that WILL NOT increase your chance of winning. One account/entry per person. You must be over 18 (or have your parents permission upon winning to receive M rated games) and in the continental US to be eligible to win. Winner will be chosen at random. Contest ends on or about 10/24/05.

Why am I moving to Japan?
Mrs. CheapyD got a great job and it requires us to move to Tokyo. Its basically an offer we can't refuse. I will still be able to run CAG from Japan and now I will be able to work on CAG full time. You can also likely expect new additions/features and possibly a new CAG sister website as I become Your Man In Japan.
Fear not! The focus of CAG will always be cheap video games.

Good luck on the move.

How about instead of or in addition to "the quirky gaming related dodad from Japan of the week" on the site, how about weird tenticle porn of the week? :)

This whole thread seems like we're signing Cheapy D's yearbook or something. I'm half expecting to read, "Stay cool forever" or "I wrote in your crack".

Wow. Have fun in Japan! Play magazine has a nice article on Akihabara, reportedly THE spot for rarities and deals. If you go let us know.

Congratulations are in order to the man and his wife. Hear hear!

As for Japan, it is a strangely small and silly place, wrought with minute people. You will tower above them, and they might worship you as a god.

You need to go to the shrine that Miyamoto said inspired Star Fox, as well as go to his garden and steal me a Pikmin. Don't laugh - we all know Shiggy genetically engineered them himself in an attempt to breed a race of supermen, but we instead ended up with flower creatures.

Also you need to see if you can find the Iron Chefs. They have to be around somewhere.

Thanks for the contest and all the luck, Cheapy.

"We'll live like kings! Damn hell as kings!"

When you get to Japan please inspire the nation like you have this one. Teach them the art of cheap ass game buying. Show them that paying full price for a game is pure evil.

For my amusement you should reinact seems from jackass and run amok in Japan wearing a giant panda bear costume.

As for the games yes please.

Good luck on the move. I'd hate to have to transport all of my crap that far. I moved 22 miles and it took me all day. But, I'll take as many games off of your hand as you will give me. :D

Great contest. I may have missed it, but when is the deadline and drawing date?

Anyway, when you get there go buy an Xbox - You should see a 50% increase on Japanese Xbox sales. (just kidding Xbox fanboys. I love mine-they just don't like it much over there). You should also check out some of the toy shops in Japan. I have never been, but I have seen pics of some amazing things that will never be released in the US.

I'd love to see CheapyD take a picture of himself with all the lotus blossoms swirling in the air around him, anime style!

CheapyD - Good luck in your move to Japan. They say that Osaka is beautiful in the winter.
What would I like you to do? umm... I would like to see what the Japanese think of Pearl Harbor and WW2. Grab a history book and find out. :)

Matthew

I was on Okinawa Island for a bit...I found the fishing to be fun in the area.

But back on the mainland, Pachinko and Pachislots are the quintessential Japanese hobby. Have a glass of Kowpis (it's like Horchata), and grub on the delicious Katzu.

One thing I especially enjoyed about Nippon...

In the USA, they are very anal about the slik-track raceways. You know the go-cart tracks that you race around? Make any contact, and they'll pull you off the track. Not so in Japan, you race around 35 MPH and full contact in encouraged. Take some tylenol the night before, your neck will thank me in the morning.

I want video of CheapyD opening a small stand trying to sell xboxs at outrageous prices, just to piss off the locals.

"And for 860Y, I'll throw in this copy of Kubuki Warriors!"

900 ドルのためにあなたは私のコントローラーをなでる ことを得る!

Go to the arcades in Tokyo. I hear they put ours to shame. It's sad to say, but video games have a stronger influence on culture in Japan than the U.S.

Ah well, I want to win some games!

Have fun and good luck in Japan, Sir Cheapy.

I have a bilingual, American acquaintance who is living in Japan and is also a gamer; I will beseech him to take you and his flock of Japanese chicks out for that tako/raw octopus marinated in vinegar, or the odori-tai—the fish that's filleted while it's still flapping around on your plate, or some fugu! Dangerous.

Or maybe just a beer, eh?

Go there and Buy a Skyline GTR .. no really do that an R32, then go post on all the Boy Racer sites and you can be a Saint to both the Gamers and Boy Racers ... And after you get tried of it Import it to ME ;)

Please give us extensive coverege of the 360 launch in Japan. Perhaps even stand in line to get one so there will at least be one person.

It would be interesting if you could create a Japanese version of Cheap Ass Gamer and see how many (if any) of the native gamers there would change their buying habits accordingly.

Or, you could always get 10-15 of the folks together and watch them play X game after giving them $200 of saki.

Scratch that- that happens on campuses all the time here in the US. (Replace Saki with Bud Light)

Have a great time man, this is a great site, thanks for your time.

I have recently had financial hardships that have not allowed me to get any games recently, so winning the prize pack would definitely help me. I would cherish each and every one of those games...and oh yeah....GO JAPAN!

Sign me up! I would love to win a copy of the Hulk Ultimate Destruction.

I'd also like to second Scorch's Idea:
I'd like to see a "virtual tour" of game shops, just pictures and whatnot.
Cheapy should just go hang out at all the cheap ass used game stores in Tokyo, assuming he can read japanese, and then laugh at us for how little he will have to pay to buy back most of his games.

Cheapy D, if you get lonely for your games in the land that made Cheap Trick stars, I will personally walk over there and give them back to you. I would simply be a caretaker.

Plus, I hear that GTA: SA got some Tit-ties. You know what I'm talking about.

I'd like to win your games so that I can add them to my growing stack of games I have not yet played that I have acquired as a result of being a CAG member! Have fun in Japan, Cheapy!
CheapyD should start an online photo gallery of all the crazy vending machines they have in Japan.
YES... and just give us Daily doses of japanese pop culture and all the crazy gizmos etc etc...

Dont know if this has been said already, but you should do things like, Play DDR with some of the locals (the ones who eat breath and crap DDR) and then after a nice work out go eat alot of wasabi and see how much you can eat. After you eat some food then go find a lady of the night and then enjoy the rest of your night.

And then walk around asking about the 4 Woodoo and then ask random people if they would like to play a game of lucky hit! (if you've played the shenmue games you'd know what i'm talking about)

I'd be interested to get some detail of deals and such in Akihabara. Some pictures of the place would be cool, too.

You know you're gonna be like 2 feet taller than everyone there... we need a video of you stomping around like Godzilla pushing people and random stuff over.

Look! There! Cheapzilla! Cheapzilla!

Step 1: Marshall the forces of the CAG Nation.

Step 2: Invade Manchuria.

Step 3: Establish the Cheap Ass Republic, a land where all the guides are a penny, all the coupon codes are stackable, and all the systems are region-free.

Man have fun while in Japan, winning all your games would be a great birthday, christmas present, and Hurricane Disaster assistance for me.

This site is awesome, keep up the great work.

Hope to be playing your games soon.
