Holy shit, I'm moving to Tokyo in three weeks!
There's no way I can bring all my stuff with me, so one lucky CAG is going to win 30+ games and a bunch of shwag (E3, TGS, etc.).

Simply post in this thread for a chance to win.
You must post something about Japan, winning my games, or what you would like to see me do (for your amusement) once I am living in Tokyo.

You may post as often as you wish, but that WILL NOT increase your chance of winning. One account/entry per person. You must be over 18 (or have your parents permission upon winning to receive M rated games) and in the continental US to be eligible to win. Winner will be chosen at random. Contest ends on or about 10/24/05.

Why am I moving to Japan?
Mrs. CheapyD got a great job and it requires us to move to Tokyo. Its basically an offer we can't refuse. I will still be able to run CAG from Japan and now I will be able to work on CAG full time. You can also likely expect new additions/features and possibly a new CAG sister website as I become Your Man In Japan.
Fear not! The focus of CAG will always be cheap video games.

I think it would be great if I won these games as long as I don't have to go to Japan to pick them up. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to go to Japan and am probably going next year. I'm just all out of vacation time.

Man It would be so aweosme to win your games. Ive never won anything In my life, and you have more games then Ill ever have. You must be rich >_>

If I win CheapyD's games, I promise to end world hunger, and to enact a peace treaty in and with the countries of the Middle East, the likes of which have never been seen before.

Or not.

Okay, I'll probably just think "Hell yeah!" and play the games, is that what you want to hear?

But if I had the capacity to do so, I would totally end world hunger and enact the peace treaty.

Japan's a great place from what I'm told, you know Tokyo Game Show, the Gundam museum, cool looking temples. You ought to go visit some of the cool places and make us wish we were there.

PS: I think I should win since I'm a lazy ass bum who's too cheap to buy any more games than I already own.

as much as I hate blogs and the word "blog" and its derivatives, it would be cool for you to make some kind of online diary of the stuff you do in Japan and how its like living there.

I plan on going to Japan eventually (I'm taking a class), maybe as soon as next year for a homestay (kind of like an exchange student) program over the summer.

It'd be great to have some idea of what to expect.
Plus, winning your games would augment my pathetic collection pretty damn well.

Good Luck in Japan, Cheapy!

i was JUST looking at japanese porn a second ago! like the way my brain goes?...japanase porn, cheap video games. now i just need some booze.

I'd like to see a pic posted on the site of you holding up the "most offensive" looking game you can find in a Japanese game store of your choice. :)

I'd like to win your games, why beat around the bush haha. Japan would be a cool place to visit. We wish you the best and thanks for the site, its helped a lot.

didn't post last time... I'd love to win your games, whatever they are. And best of luck in Japan. I appreciate this site, has helped me out a lot with gaming deals.

Rockin' contest! Can't believe I forgot to enter sooner. Thanks to CheapyD for offering such a great bounty for such a simple entrance requirement. (No silly "Dance in front of a camera promoting our product" or anything inane like that.)

Japan spelled backwards is Napaj which could me a sound I make if I were to accomplish the requirements of saying something about Japan and nothing else. There was an or[/i] included in the OP so as per the requirements I'm only going to pick one out of the three to talk about. Hopefully by posting this late most will skip over this possible snare to offer up a better outcome for rywateska! Although, I may have just looked way too much into all of this. Post # 2864!

Japan lies to the east of the Asian continent, and is composed of over 3,000 islands. The largest and main islands are, from north to south, Hokkaidō, Honshū, Shikoku, and Kyūshū. The Ryukyu Islands, including Okinawa, are southwest of the main islands.

hmm, doubt you'de get this far in the posts to even count my vote into the contest but heres hopin!

GL in japan. you should import car parts to america and make bank from it.

Wow...I go on vacation to Buffalo and am off the site for a week and I almost miss THIS?!?! Forgive me if I haven't gone through all 140+ pages yet...so forgive me if I repeat anything already stated.

I'm totally jealous, CheapyD! Congrats - the wife and I are always talking about going to Japan on holiday, but we never have the time/ funds to do it. Instead, we live vicariously through Azreal's blog at http://outpostnine.com/editorials/teacher.html. (I don't normally plug sites, but this is one of my favs.)

I guess I should give some advice or guidelines, so here goes:
1. It's my understanding that the Sake we have here is nothing compared to what they serve in Japan - don't let the little cups fool you.

2. As a stranger in a strange land, it may seem appropriate to assimilate and learn the language, culture, etc. - be careful of this. You don't want to give up the power of being able to do anything you want because you "are new there." You could probably get away with doing just about anything because you know how to say "that is how we do things in America." Imagine the posibilities, man! Remember, this is a very polite culture (on the surface)...see what it takes to make someone visibly angry.

3. A friend of mine went to Japan and got Alissa Milano music CDs...and they were truly bad. He learned two things from this: The Japanese will eat up anything American and that the resale value of such horrors on eBay is through the roof! You could probably start a nice side business doing that alone.

4. No matter how tempting it is, cosplay should be avoided at all costs. Sure, it may be fun and no one there will know you, but don't give up your "American cool" to do this. You won't need to dress up as Ryu - you'll be noticed no matter what (See #2).

5. All those wacky games that never make it to the U.S. - now you will finally understand why that is, and report back to us, tongue-in-cheek.

6. If you encounter anyone that is anti-american, then "suddenly" develop a Canadian accent, and let them know you are just "country-hopping." Or looking for asylum. Say you are a refugee, not for any politcal reason, but because you really dislike rap music/ pancakes/ Martha Stewart/ whatever.

7. If you are ever bored, then walk around and pretend that you are on a quest looking for...something. If anyone asks, let them know that you are merely "following the prophecy." Bonus points if you point and giggle at the person and run away.

8. If you are at the video store, ask a clerk about tentacle porn. Let them know you are not interested in getting any, but want to learn its history, historical significance and effects on Japanese daily life. Say you are working on a research paper and that polls state that tentacle porn is one of the greatest advances to adult-themed films that the Japanese have contributed. Congratulate the person you are speaking to for this.

9. If you're around kids and teenagers, guard your ass. (See Azreal's blog above.) The first word in Japanese that anyone should learn is definitely "Kancho."

10. Since the proliferation of "engrish" on clothing, signs, ads is the "cool" thing to do, offer to translate anything you see. By translate, I mean "Make up anything on the spot." For example: if you see a teenage girl wearing a shirt with some Puddle of Mud lyrics on it, let her know that the words are actually a description of her heritage or is a listing of what can and cannot be bought for 1000 yen. Remember: as what you say becomes wronger in the eyes of God, the funnier it will be; it's a 1:1 inversely proprtionally statistic. But most of all, you are only trying to help her.

Anyway Cheapy, congrats again to you and your wife! I hope the you have a safe and pleasant trip and am looking forward to seeiing your updates!

And, for the record, I would wear a CAG shirt with pride...right into Best Buy, not as a flag of the "devil customers," but as a badge of pride and honor.

Good luck bro, as we say. My suggestion? Pick up alot of cheap gears and stuff and come back here and sell it!!!!!! Also let us know how Tokyo is for those of us who DO want to move there!

And yeah, take that as a contest entry.

RAMONE, GIVE CHEAPY A GOOD LUCK HAPPY ENDING

You should parade Tokyo with a psp clocked at 333mhz. Since the Tokyo Tower is 333 meters high you will transform into Manfaye and dance with the locals =P

Don't forget to take pics!

Hi, my name is Kim and I would love to win your games. I got into playing games from watching my brother play them. It would be cool if you took some pictures of those games conventions and other places in Japan. I see them on TV and my brother always say he would to go them and check it out. Have fun in Tokyo!;)

it'd be cool if cheapyD was somehow able to split the prizes amongst more CAGers, of course the shipping would be a stab in his wallet, so its understandable why it wont go down that way.

I would like to win but mostly I would like you to dress up as one of your favorite video game character. Plus I want you to tell me how it feel to use Japan toliet. I alway heard that it a great fun ;)). I hope you enjoy the spring when all the flower bloosm. It will be a wonderful sight to see. I wish I was there :(. Have fun!!!!!!

CheapyD needs to go to Japan, and do some wall-running on buildings, like on Ninja Gaiden Black.

Have fun out there, bro.
