Crackdown - Gen. Discussion & Info

Just a heads up to those that did not pre-order.

I went to 3 EBs today (wanted to use my credit). First only had enough for pre-orders, second only had pre-order halo editions and the non preorders were NONHALO edition. Third had extras with halo beta.

So make sure you check the box if you are buying it now with the insentive of a the beta.

Got my copy at the local GameStop, the guy opened a file cabinet and there were ~30 copies, all with the Beta included.

I'm about to start it up now, I'll be using one of the DLC characters :)

anyone know...

can you change you character model after you started the game?

if you start over, is there an option to start with your saved stats?

I picked it up at Fry's. They hadn't even put it out yet. The supervisor over the Software department had to go in the back and get about 15 copies to put on the shelf. She gave me mind and on the way to the register a lady working in the department said that she didn't think they could sale it yet and had turned away about 8 people already.

Seemed all the copies I saw had the Halo 3 sticker. I made sure mine did before they rang me up. One down, one to go. I have to take another "break" this afternoon and pick up NBA Street at Best Buy.

Yes you can change your character model after you started a game. No you cannot start a new game with all your previous stats.
Haha! Your a Brooklynite and a Doctor Who fan? Rare find
i live in brooklyn, but most of the time im in the city
picked up my reserved copy of crackdown today from EB.

Game is awesome.

In case anybody hasn't noticed, if you go to the achievements section on the pause menu, you can view what they call sub-achievements as well. For instance, all of the on-foot and car races you need to finish and all of the things you need to do for the rampage achievement. Good stuff.

Did you actually see the case that says "NO HALO 3 BETA" or just from what the guy said? I'm thinking he is just a misinformed EB employee (what's new?). According to Bungie, all first print copies, if not all copies of Crackdown, will allow you to play the beta.

Damn, I LOVE this game, I've been playing for about an hour and a half, my strength is at three, agility 2, and the others are either 1 or 0.

Leveling up takes a LOT longer though, but that's good, because it adds a lot of hours to the game :)

I'll play co-op in a little while, but first I have to take down the damn Los Muertos Kingpin :D

I just tried to pick up a copy and GS was out of them unless you reserved. There was one kid there who was obviously not 18 and the clerk wouldn't sell it to him which I thought was pretty funny. She said I could have his copy but I didn't want to stick around.

Sorry if this is outdated, but I just joined this site. Anyways, I got Crackdown last Tuesday at CompUSA. I have already beat it. I went into EBGames at 10:00 am this morning to sell it. The clerk looked at me kind of weird and asked where I got the game. I told him and I got $35 store credit for the game. I just hope he doesn't narc on CompUSA.

Ahh...but do you like Doctor Who? Thats the rare part.....not a lot of people watch the show....

Nice to see more people from Brooklyn.

O and I just went to the Bay Pkway BestBuy and picked up Crackdown for $39.99 after coupons and Reward Zone certificates...

Leveling up right now..

Another small tip: You can go to Gang Dossiers in the pause menu and access 5 training videos, one for each of the skills. I checked out the explosives one and it had some stuff worth knowing. Also, they seem to be from a different build of the game, because the HUD looks pretty weird :)

It's looking like this thing might actually be limited. We had 32 preorders and 38 copies. All 38 had the sticker. I can't believe we only had six extra, and three of those six went in the first ten minutes. I got one, of course.. now i'm in the beta twice.. but I actually bought Crackdown for Crackdown.

Against my better judgement, I picked this up at lunch. Hope it's not shitty.

Couldn't care less about the Halo 3 beta. I may not even play it...I don't want to get it when it comes out and be like "wow, all new singleplayer...and the multiplayer is been there, done that."

did you not play the demo? this is one case where the demo is indicative of the final product.

I found that the game was 5x funner after reaching level 4 agility so everytime I played the demo I just went for agility orbs for the first half hour until I got to level 4. I recommend this to everyone else makes everything easier and more fun to do.

OMFG

I FINALLY got 4 stars in Agility in the retail version of the game, it takes a damn long time, but it is worth it. As soon as I got to it, I climbed the Agency Tower, jumped into the water, which totaled 3 more achievements :)

I also have 4 stars in strength, which is equally awesome.

Also, I was jumping around the Shai-gen area, and man it is awesome, the towers are huge, futuristic, and the whole area screams Tokyo, which is never a bad thing :D

I did. I'm hoping the co-op adds to the fun of it quite a bit. As long as it does I should have no problems with it.

Dang it, I want to play CoOp with someone on this, but my 48 hour trial that came with it never registetered, and after 20 minutes on the phone with them they want me to fax them copes of the front and back of the card. Grrrr... no fax machine, and it's way more trouble than its worth. :(

Single player is neat though.

I'm guessing it got a lot of preorders because of the rumors of the H3 beta only being on preorder copies. Thank god for MS not clearly stating how it's going to work!

Hey Daroga, if you need a 48 hour code, I've got a few from the Burger King games. Let me know if you want one. Friend me up or PM.

I don't think this is the type of game that lends itself to co-op, and having played several rounds of co-op on the demo, if the demo is indicative of the final product, I'm not impressed.

There's too much running and jumping. While it's fun to get help from another person (like having him lead you through the steps to get ontop the agency building), you mostly end up running out on your own and doing your own stuff.

I would have much preffered Realtime Worlds focused on other features... like the ability to swim underwater, and an expansive underwater world (maybe even with breath-holding skill to level-up)... or boats and motorcycles.

Let's just hope they expand the feature set in the sequel.

so its bewteen crackdown or mlb 2k7...ehich one to get?? if i didnt spend $45+ on rainbow 6 the otherday, i probably could get both this month. unfortunately my budget allows only 1 game purchase so far

I definatly go for it over mlb.

what $10 coupon? i just bought mine there

This game is more fun than the Demo! Im only agility level 2 but I tried to get to the top of the towers anyway. Almost made it all the way too. But the view from up there is just breathtaking. Only other 360 game that I could say the word "breathtaking" with so far is Gears.

Im leveling up my agility and strength the most. Let me just say that there is no funnier way to die than to be kicked and flying across the street....well ok there are funnier ways to die..

I'm cracking (unintentional pun) mine open right now. Getting a free Halo faceplate and Halo theme (code comes with faceplate) makes this even better!!!

You've got Crackdown in my Halo!
You've got Halo in my Crackdown!

This game is awesome. I can't wait till the Beta opens up. Until then I will be playing an awesomely awesome game of awesomenessicity.
I picked it up, will play it later tonight.

Can't wait.
you and I need to do co-op again sometime, sir
Well, I went and rented this from Blockbuster. The copies they had on display on the shelf said nothing about the Halo 3 Beta.
The Sticker was on the Plastic wrap.

Also Inside the case there is a "Congrats Halo 3 Beta" thing. Those are the only 2 ways you know your in.

Played it. Beat it. Loved it.

One nice touch is that once you beat all of the gang leaders, you have the choice at the start menu to repopulate the city with gangs or to play without any gangs so you can just cruise around with no worries. Good times.

You have to have the disc in to download the beta, and you have to have the disc in to play the beta

that is a nice touch. can't remember a game ever doing that before.

now I need to leave this thread, because I still have an hour of work left and I'm itching to play this.

Lovin' it. Can't wait to play it tonight.

I helped JimmieMac chisel away some of his gang activity, and it was a blast. I can see co-op mode adding a lot of replayability to this title.
