I don't hate hate him either, that period was my lazy way of saying 'QFT'. I can't stand Nitro, though.
 Well now we're on the same page too.

OMG Masters won a match.
Stranger still was Vince never trusted Luger enough to put the strap on him.
I think it was because (1) Lugar couldn't wrestle. He was all appearance; no wrestling skill, and no mic skills (ever seen the interview where he "jobbed to a t-shirt"?). The "Lex Express" nonsense was totally fabricated, and the fans didn't buy it. He was popular as a good guy, but kinda like putting the World title on Kane: the fans may enjoy it, but they won't be hot for it, and they won't turn out in droves to see it.

You have to understand that Vince brought Lugar in to jumpstart the WBF; even before he started working for Vince, Vince knew better than to put Lugar in the ring. When the WBF failed (who'da thunk it?), Vince had a wasted investment (Lugar) on his hands). He had to put him in the ring.

There's an interesting parallel between Cena and Lugar, in the sense that (1) both were forced down the throats of fans regardless of their protests, (2) neither are very good in the ring. Unlike Lugar, Cena is a proven merchandise seller (and let's be honest with ourselves: if Steven Hawking could sell as much merchandise as John Cena, Vince wouldn't hesitate to put the strap on Hawking), and can talk.

Cena's real test will be his match with K-Fed. They're showing themselves to be smart by giving K-Fed two months to learn the ropes (not enough, by any means, but at least it wouldn't be like throwing Maria or Candance Michelle out there the week after winning the Diva Search). Now, if they could just book angles with their *goddamned wrestlers* that far in advance, they'd be making better progress. Cena's best matches were with capable wrestlers (HHH, Edge); let's see how he does with a dude that has less in-ring experience than Jackie Gayda. "Bowling shoe ugly," indeed.

I like the Eugene turn, even though he's still going to be mentally retarded. I wish he would drop the gimmick and go for a "shooter" kinda Dean Malenko calm and calculated merciless mat wrestler kinda dude. But, I guess they gotta have characters they identify with, so he's gotta be a retard.

Am I being conspiratorial in thinking that the WWE's "Smackdown Your Vote" campaign is conspicuous by its absence this year? Is it somehow related to the fact that the Democrats are going to pull a major upset tomorrow, easily taking the House of Representatives and *justmaybe* the Senate? Or am I just being paranoid? Perhaps they're trying to save money?

Demolition Man, that Kerry quote in your signature is 100% classless. I hope you're under 18 (and thus unable to vote) if you are foolish enough to think that what came out of Kerry's mouth is precisely what he intended to say.

Genocidal wins the prize of calling out the Dusty booking. It didn't register with me (I didn't see SD) until you mentioned that.

I fucking NEED to find out who the bald dude sitting in the front row in the goddamned pink nylon parka (hel-LO 1992!!!) is. He's at EVERY pro wrestling show I've ever been to, with his wife (in the matching neon green parka); he's often seen chatting it up with wrestlers, bookers (like Tom Pritchard when he worked for the WWF), and going backstage. It gets under my skin that I can't figure out who he is. It's possible that he used to work for WWE; the last ROH show I was at he was wearing a WWE-logo embroidered oxford (with the sleeves cut off - look, even if you *have* the arms for sleeveless gear - which this guy certainly does not - don't fucking do it. At all, dude).

I hate Cryme Tyme (news to no one), but JTG has a *ton* of charisma. Shadd Gaspard, OTOH, will be gone by this time next year. JTG will be IC Champ.

i saw a little bit of tna wrestling the other day and was suprised to see sting there. What happened to him after the WCW closed? Did he take a break then start back up on TNA? Also why is kurt angle there?

Also is wrestling moving away from characters? I saw a lot of generic dudes like aj styles but then again i didnt watch it too long.

Give Piper the next topic, but also make a poll for the topic following that one.

The only good that can come out of Cryme Tyme stealing Benjamin's stuff would be a WGTT reunion. Only to lay down for Cryme Tyme...but a reunion nonetheless.

How do you drop the gimmick of being retarded though? It's impossible to do while maintaining a very very small piece of belivability... I mean, will he just get magically cured of being retarded? I mean, that's the problem with all encompassing gimmicks, is that the character is stuck with them forever.

Kane has a gimmick like that, but luckily for Kane it actually worked. Everyone else, their gimmick is material, so they can change when they feel like it or when it's not working, Undertaker went from a dead man to an american badass quite easily.

Someone earlier said that Eugene should be remade as a masked wrestler, I guess that would be the only way to truly remake him. Take him off tv a bit, shaved off that goatee and all that hair, throw a mask on him, and when he DOES eventually get unmasked you can just call him Nick Dinsmore. Hopefully by that time the fans will have forgotten who Eugene is.

I don't know, I just hate the whole Eugene character, and wish they would drop it already.

No, that would make too much sense.

What the F*CK, does Lita think she's Mr. Kennedy now?
Who wants to bet me...

DX will show up and save the belts for Flair & Piper.
you are probably right

It would have worked months/years ago to have him claim that he was simply portraying a character to get the crowd's sympathy and to get booked in matches he otherwise wouldn't. Since he's been well off the wrestling radar for probably a year or more, you're totally right. I think it could be done, but the only problem for the WWE is that their writing staff couldn't do it right at all.

Enjoy your DX runin, everyone. I'm gonna go watch the Daily Show.

 big shock, they're making Piper wrestle with a shirt on tonight.

~ I've seen the Luger blooper film, in fact I think I posted it here a long time ago. The question is have you seen the video with Luger jobbing to the shirt meshed with the Sheik's video?

~ I thought Luger started out in the WCW as a horsemen no less. While he may have been brought in for the WBF (God, the WBF...) I think Vince knew he could wrestle and planned on using the WBF as a means of getting Luger over with the fans. Part of me wants to believe that Vince wanted Luger to be his new top guy, but fortunately the fans just wouldn't have it, and repeatedly sided with Bret Hart.

~ The only way Eugene can ever do anything at this point is to be masked and repacked, or to go to TNA and simply laugh at WWE and wrestle as Nick Dinsmore.

~ As for Demo man, while I don't hate hate him (of course) he is an idiot, and sadly there's just no way around that. Don't be too shocked at his Kerry quote sig

~ Urrr... which one is Shad & which one is JTG... I just haven't paid that close of attention. All I know is one is much bigger than the other.
Why...#-o

I wish Vince would find out about Hard Gay!
That would be better than Big Dick Johnson or whatever his name is.

I didn't know Big Dick Johnson had a fuckin' tramp stamp tattoo.

That was lame as Hell, by the way.

I mean, it's really the only thing that could be done. Hell, if you shaved off all of Eugene's hair and that goatee and made him walk upright and talk normal, I sure as hell wouldn't be able to tell who he was.

I mean, you don't even need to relate Nick Dinsmore to Eugene... you have them say something like Eugene is leaving to go do whatever and persue his dream, you wait a few months, then you bring about Nick Dinsmore as a brand new wrestler and never ever mention Eugene again.

You wouldn't even need to put a mask on him... most of the fans wouldn't be able to tell it was Eugene at all, and I'm sure Nick Dinsmore would go over alot better than Eugene ever did.

But you're right, the writing staff couldn't pull it off at all... they will probably hav e Eugene find the miracle cure or something stupid like that.
That was said in jest... I think Demo man knows that. For pretty much reasons known only to him he hates Jeff Hardy.
Want to know why I can't stand Jeff Hardy:

A) I find his flat out boring as hell.
B) I fail to see why especially preteen and ugly fat girls cheer for him?
C) I once dated a girl who was fanatical about Jeff Hardy... literaly. She had several posters of Jeff hung in her bedroom along with a Jeff Hardy standee..... yeah, now you see why I can't stand him.

Likewise I can't stand Joe.

Not that it bothers me anyways. ;)

I don't know what's more shocking to me here the fact that you'd be jealous of Jeff Hardy or that you were in a girl's bedroom.

I feel the quote is (in my eyes) aimed at Bush. I won't get into my views any further in this thread.... as this is a wrestling thread not a political one.

Speaking of your sig... I just thought you'd like to know that Jeff Hardy is a huge fan of Tigger
I don't know what's more shocking to me here the fact that you'd be jealous of Jeff Hardy or that you were in a girl's bedroom.
I found it more creepy about her obsession than anything else. I've never liked Jeff Hardy before dating her anyways. I just find him (as I said before) boring and very overrated.

Oh, and I don't care if Jeff Hardy is a huge fan of Tigger.

Well...they brought back Umaga without making any mention of his past as Jamal, so perhaps you've got a point. He's not gonna go anywhere in the WWE, so I suppose all this hypothesizing is all for naught (as it always is).

So I missed DX with fat-ass party boy guy (he has a character name now!?!?!). Well, good thing I have tivo.

Wait, this guy is a recurring character now? Wasn't he the same one Sandman canned, or he was dancing for Vince once because of DX or some BS.

What the fuck is going on with the writing crew lately?

Lately, huh?
Okay... what... the... fuck.....

Daniels won the X Division title at the TNA tapings tonight. Indeed Russo is back.
I just read the spoilers. Yowza. Russo didn't get changed much by little baby Jesus, not when it comes to booking style. It's more overbooked than my stepmother's thanksgiving turkey is overcooked.
I don't really follow TNA, but
Didn't AJ just win it from Sabin, making 2 title changes in... how many weeks of TV?
Two weeks. Which is typical of Russo.

The next two weeks otherwise look good. Outside of this and the whole James Gang crap.

Yep. Sure does. Kinda makes our complaints about the ample use of the "Dusty Finish" on this past SD and Raw seem petty by comparison, no?

Maybe they wanted to do it because of the primetime special. They did do something similar last time so I can't chalk this all up to Russo.

They keep showing Lita from the side, in an open shirt. She's an inch from a nip slip.

Does WWE hope it happens?

The divas use a special "tape" to keep those suckers in.
