gkleinman, founder of DVDTalk, will provide details at midnight tonight (6/16). I will update this topic as more information develops. Odds are that it is this weekend, but I don't know for certain. Sorry to jump the gun and post with so little information, but I know not everyone here reads DVDTalk, and I wanted to provide a heads-up.

Anyone interested in the sale should prepare their wishlist as soon as possible. DDD slows down considerably during these sales (at least, it has in the past), so it is best to have a list of what you want before it starts.

i dunno...but i do know that i ordered reno 911 s1 and entourage s1 on the first day of the sale and they both were backordered and expected to ship on 6/26...i received a notice yesterday that reno shipped and one today that entourage shipped
 
noob question: I ordered a movie (Virgin Suicides) and it syas that it isn't in stock.
How long will it take till it comes in stock?
And I'll still get my discount if it comes in stock after 6/25 right?

Im pretty sure on the order page it will tell you when it will ship, at least mine do. Mine are all on july 1.
Check your order history page or email and It will probably tell you.

Oh man, I remember those days- putting an entire paycheck toward things I wanted. Those days are gone for me. It took me 6 months to scrape up $350 for this sale. By the way, congrats on an amazing haul. Your list is peppered with stuff I wanted to get, but had to push back until next time because I ran out of money: Deadwood, Penn & Teller BS, 4400, South Park (S5), Carnivale, Sports Night, King of Queens (S4)......

You may not get to all of your sets soon, but you should make a point of watching Wonderfalls and Freaks and Geeks. Great choices, man. Enjoy.

Damn. If I were to order everything that's on my wishlist now my total would be somewhere around $1600, but I'm not about to do that. I'll save it for the next sale. :lol:

man I am so tempted to pick up that Sopranos 4-season bundle. Getting the 4-pack and then season 5 separately seems to be the cheapest option. I have been borrowing the seasons from a friend of mine, but now that my girlfriend has expressed interest in watching the show I may start buying them all so I can always have them handy.

I see some better deals on Half.com and amazon marketplace, but I'm always paranoid about getting box sets from off-retail, second-hand channels like that. I could probably save about $12 per set, and a number of sellers do specify "not an import," but is it worth the risk??

Meanwhile, the wishlist gets larger and larger.... order number 2 is gonna be a doozy for me. Oh and I still gotta look at their storage rack selection. Don't forget the storage racks! The discount works!

The discount applies to order date. You should still get the discount, even if they ship it 6 weeks from now, though you'll likely receive it sooner - maybe a week or two after you receive the in-stock portion of your order.
 
FYI : I just got my order and it was missing one of my DVDs that I was already charged for. I contacted Customer Service and they said they will send me another one. Customer Service INFO below:

During the last 20% off sale I made 2 orders. Out of those 2 orders I had 3 movies that were on backorder. One of the movies took a while to get back in but they did ship it to me for free and I still got the 20% discount. I can't remember the exact time but it was less than 1 month. I don't think they will cancel it. The time it takes to get back in stock depends on the movie. They also won't charge you until it ships. So if its something you want you should go ahead and buy it.

I'm debating whether or not I'll make one final order on 6/25.

I figure if I order all the things they don't have in stock, I won't get charged until a few days later, which should be enough time for me to find more cash. With any luck it'll be after payday and my shipment/charge will be delayed a few weeks. And I'll still get the discount.

Edit: Got the in-stock items in the mail today. VERY fast delivery, even for DDD.
 
I was wicked excited when I saw Lemony Snicket on the front page for $ 13.56... that is the cheapest I had seen it anywhere so I popped it in my cart along with a few other things. Come to find out, for some reason, DDD has LS listed as releasing on 8/23... even though I know for a fact that it has already released. This means it doesnt qualify for the 20% off...

disappointing... no way around this i suppose?

They had the STargate sets dated to come out this week too, when they;ve been out for years. Its more likely an inventory thing.
 
so, recommend waiting on Lemony Snicket then? To see if I can get it using the 20% discount on top of the cheap 13$ price tag? or scoop it up now because thats as cheap as I've ever seen it anyway?

Yeah, I just found that one on the site too, ordered it as soon as I saw it since I really enjoyed it when it was being aired on TV. It's really quite funny, it has that quirky adult humor but it doesn't take it to the extremes. Hard to describe, kinda like Futurama in some ways even though it's a totally different theme. For less than a buck and a half per episode, it's well worth seeing at least once.

I think there's either been a new printing or a bunch of old stock was found somewhere. They showed up for 28 at Sam's Club a week or two ago. Only seasons 1-5 though It might have to do with Licensing and other crap. I think Sci-Fi Took over the show for season 6 reason those are still a bit more expensive.

it's a price drop and the price drop won't officially take effect until 8/23. They will ship it out right away but since it has the pre-release date, it's not eligible for the 20% discount
 
i just wrote them an email about a price change that happened overnight....hostage dropped in price about $3 lastnight and i ordered it on tuesday....i wonder what their policy is on this...whether ill receive the difference or not...also, cursed dropped about 50 cents, but that's just me being a cheapass....i wonder what other drops occurred that you guys dont know about....coach carter dropped over $5 lastnight, which would've hurt me though I apparantly forgot to order it in the first place...im not sure how, i could've swore it was in my shopping cart

I was tempted by the Sex & the City collection, but since I already have season 1, I will probably buy them piecemeal (also, Sam's reportedly has a deal on the individual seasons, and I am hoping Costco will follow suit). Just to make sure you are aware, even though it states "Complete", if you look at the description, you will see that S6v2 is not included.

Note: they have a limited number of the Perfect Storm LE back in stock.


I finally placed my order just a short bit ago. Almost no pron this time. I struggled pretty hard to get my order down to under $550, I had to remove all the Stargate seasons, Moonlighting, NewsRadio, Quantum Leap, Greatest American Hero, Northern Exposure Parka Pack, and some others -- basically, any series I had not already started that I could not get in complete form, except DM and Rescue Me. My thinking was that they may come out with bundles later (e.g. first three seasons of Greatest American Hero) at a discounted price. I also gave up some season 2s to series that I had already started (NYPD Blue, Dave Chappelle, etc.). And I managed to drop a lot of the cheap (~$6) discs that have been in my wish list forever (Drop Dead Gorgeous, Trial and Error, etc.).

Unfortunately, a lot of the time when I tried to trim, I ended up adding. I tried to get rid of Hollywood Ending, so I checked for the Amazon price, and that's when I found out about the Woody Allen 4-pack, d'oh. I am going to try not to place another order, wish me luck.

OMG, is it possible I'm not the only person who liked Hudson Hawk (I already have the disc, which is why it isn't on my list)?

I like Frasier, but it was one of the first I dropped out of my cart (I was thinking of getting the six season set). They show the reruns often enough for me to get my fix (same reason I dropped Seinfeld s4 -- I haven't even opened the seasons I bought at release yet).
 
With Sex and the City you don't really save that much by getting the 6-pack anyway, so you should be in good shape. Buying all 7 sets separately costs $164.08, getting the 6-pack plus the last season pt. 2 comes to $156.62. Yeah I caught that whole "complete" proviso, but thanks for the warning! Oh and btw, did you notice that the 5-season pack actually costs more than the 6-pack?

I avoided the Frasier multi-packs because they keep throwing the last season in there, and I wasn't too fond of the last few seasons :whistle2:(

And Huson Hawk needs some respect!

Hero only had three seasons.

And I have been purchasing quantum leap season by season and am beginning to regret it. The sets are bare-bones with no extras, the video quality is not good, and lets not get started on the music issue. I can't wait till they announce a new bundle for the entire series (5 seasons) that includes a bonus disc of special features.
