I didn't know that Cheapy was the one that got the saver codes working again.

I still stand by the fact that I don't think he's to blame for any of this and won't be held accountable for the actions of others.
 
I didn't order and don't plan to order. But speaking of glitches, is there a glitch in CAG? Shouldn't this say, "ALL SHAQ-FUING FOUR!"?

I ordered a few things to see whether it would go through...beats my employee discount. I could just see them tracing my address and name back to me, lol. Hopefully CAG will be okay as I didn't mean to harm CAG in any way by ordering.

And yes, with the site recognition that CAG has these days, I'd like to think they understand their audience potential with 30K+ members and lord knows how many more lurkers/guests. You're a much better ally than enemy.

If the orders get canceled, people will get upset. If the orders go through, the people who didn't get in on it, will probably be pissed. An upset either way?

All in all, I think CAG will be fine. It's just a glitch EBGames underwent. CheapyD reporting the problem shows he's a good guy.

I would certainly hope so, with the "no calling" policy of the deal-getting people, they probably wouldn't know about it until much later.

I guess I just don't see the morals side of things.

This board has had tons of stackable coupon deals before. After all, CAG15 has stacked with Saver for a long time now... what is it about stacking with 1 more, or in the case of edge card holders, 2 more coupons that makes it different?

I'm just curious as to people's rationale on the "moral" side of this.

While he shouldn't be held accountable for what happened, it could still make him look bad to his contacts at EB. If EB thinks CAGs are waiting around for glitches and trying to exploit loopholes all the time, they might not be very quick to give us anymore exclusive deals in the future.

Although it's true that it was EB's fault in allowing the codes to be stackable, people should look at the bigger picture and ask themselves if saving 56% on a few video games is worth hurting CAG's reputation.

Because CAG15 and PPLAY15 are essentially the same coupon, but EB gave us our own specialized code. Using both is pretty much just using the same exact coupon twice, which wasn't ever the intention of EB.

yes, you could gat 56% off a game right now but you might damage the business relationship between cag and eb, thus costing future deals.

i dont think it has so much to do with morals as it does with the fear of eb offering less/no deals

Honestly, as much as I like the SAVER code, things always ship super slow to me with the method. I appreciate getting it back and all, but I'd rather have the CAG15 code myself.

$2 shipping is dirt cheap. Now if EBGames didn't charge me almost 10% sales tax on new releases.. they've lost quite a few sales with me over that.

It's just that the glitch seemed to occur due to Cheapy's request to fix the problem where SAVER wasn't stacking with CAG15 anymore. So it seemed like EB was in the process of trying give us back an awesome stacking deal, and we thank them by raping the site through an obvious glitch.

If that is your local tax rate than it's no different if you bought them from the store.
 
I know that, but I can get it from Gamestop.com since they don't charge tax on their products.

Gamestop.com likes to be picky about my credit card though, so it's quite complicated. :\
 
i ordered 5 games myself.. i don't think EB will really suffer from this "glitch" or whatever you want to call it. it's not like we were getting $50 games for $5.. a case in which EB would clearly be losing money and one in which I would not take advantage of a price mistake. but let's be real, even with two 15% off discounts and the edge discount, my guess is EB is still making money. just consider the excruciatingly low credit they give for trade-ins and how much they're marked up after that.
i wouldn't be surprised if EB honored most, if not all, of the orders. or maybe they'll be true cheapasses as well and cancel every order. ;-)

I'm not trying to start anything with anyone here, but how many people in this thread denouncing the use of this glitch took advantage of the CC glitch that was giving people 2 $20 games for $20 (or was it $10?) when it was supposed to be $30?
 
God I wish every store offerd only 2$ shipping. Im so used to getting reamed on ebay with 5.95 $ shipping charges that 2$ seems like a great bargain to me.
Although its nice to get it free, 2$ is not much more.

I supposes it's for the better that I had work. At least I didn't even get the chance to even try and take advantage of the situation. Though all I would've done was clear them out of any decent Genny games.

I know I didn't. Not saying that I wouldn't, it's just this glitch seemed to occur due to EB trying to give us back SAVER at Cheapy's request. That's what kept me from getting in on this. I mean, I took advantage of the Syphon Filter rebate thingy, and that apparently was a mistake (I still want my $20 :( )... but it wasn't a direct result of CAG. Maybe the stacking glitch wasn't related to CAG, but the coincidence was pretty uncanny (tho I'm sure most of the people in this thread didn't know about the whole fixing SAVER thing).

I was contemplating ordering Lufia and Suikoden, but decided against it. The others are right ; it's not worth majorly screwing all of us in the future to save a few bucks right now. You gotta think ahead! Also, I've never ordered from ebgames.com before, and I don't want my first purchase using CAG15 to be something which will reflect negatively on the site as a whole. To the rest o you, if you orders go through, good deal, but if not then please don't bitch.

That's a good point. It's just sometimes there seems to be a double standard in terms of which glitches/policies are OK to exploit and which are not. I am not saying that everyone here is guilty of that, but it seems pretty prevelant on this site overall.

Shit. I got an order in during the glitch, and I did know about the 'saver' code not working, but I guess I was just too consumed with the thought of cheap games to put the two together... I didn't even think about the two events being related, and now I feel bad for possibly helping to drag CAGs name through the mud.
Well, if my order goes through, I'll be happy (so long as we don't permanently lose our codes!), but I also sure won't cry and bitch if my order gets cancelled. I hope other CAGs feel the same.. :(

Unfortunately, the closest one is four hours away.

Picked it up in store tonight anyways, after the cheap goodness at TRU.
