Destiny (PS3/PS4) Official Thread

I'll be on around 7pm CST if anyone wants to do a nightfall/weekly or POE. Do I need to have completed the story before joining someone elses POE as well?

32 PoE isn't hard at all. It gets super hectic at the end, but is a lot more fun than Crota ever was. Once you complete that you're pretty much a 33 if you have an exotic you want to ascend. Might try 34 tonight. Has anyone here done it yet?

Got my first taste of wolf and... I Liiike IT!

Did the whole HoW story, Queen bounties, PoE on 28, and Nightfall for my titan.

Pulled two Exotics: Stand Asides and Hawkmoon.

Also pulled a couple of new legendaries: a helmet and pulse rifle.

And it's easier for me to plan out my attack on all the new stuff now that I have a better understanding on the PoE rewards system and the new bounty resets.

BTW, sidearms are cool.  Having a lot of fun using that sucker.

Yes, you need to complete the HoW story missions before the PoE is unlocked. Furthermore, you will need to complete it on level 28 before the higher levels are available.

Sounds good. I'll be on to do whatever CAG wants to group up for. If no one is one, I'll work on finishing the story. I did buy one piece of armor and just need 3 more light for 32 so if I can get a enough vanguard marks I can get that last piece to be on par. I have made huge strides in the 2 weeks I've been back.  I have acquired the Word of Crota, Badger CCL and Dragons Breath along with the side arm to give me some decent weapons since I have been back. I leveled up my Invective which I just love to death epecially in PVP.

This month I bought Bloodborne, MLB the Show and Witcher 3. However, All I want to play is Destiny

You DO NOT need to complete the Story missions to accompany someone on their PoE (as long as they have it unlocked of course). I did this last night on a character I hadn't started anything on yet (other than going to the Reef to get the initial quest - but I didn't even have Vestian Dynasty yet, which you get after finishing the first real story mission).

I used a key on the level 28 and got an exotic (Universal Remote - boo). So you can definitely go in there without needing to run story as long as you have a friend who has run it.

Finally got my first key from opening a chest while doing the bounties on my warlock earlier.

Going to get on and try to do 32 or 34 PoE in a little bit if anyone wants to join.

so I reroll a Fulrom HC with

luck the chamber/final round/small bore (drops it to 7 rounds)

any CAG smart enough to figure the odds to at least 2 hit crit someone in PvP. Hawkmoon is like 42% I read somewhere?

Party member hadn't unlocked POE, and we got the "activity not available for all fireteam members". He switched to one that had run the story, and lo-and-behold we were able to continue into a 32 PoE run.

Frosty, correct me if I'm wrong about your characters situation, as I'm referring to you :p

Yep same thing here. Party member hadn't started the story missions yet and it wouldn't let him join us on PoE 32. So we did PoE 28 and it was fine. Basically you have to do 28 on your character before you can join higher levels.

We tried 34 tonight and quit before we could finish. That arc burn wave 4 is a real pain when you're super tired and irritable. For people that have finished it, what were your strategies? Everything up to that wave seemed tough but doable. That wave was just annoying and took up to much time.

Beat PoE on level 34. Overall, it was not bad after you get the timing down for the final boss. Final Loot chest was a bit of a let down. I got a "Wolves' Bane" machine gun. Other person to open the chest got a "Her Mercy" hand cannon. Looking forward to getting to level 34 and taking on PoE 35.

Yup, that's exactly right. And BTW, here's a preemptive... Don't Correct Me...

But I think stotch is right, as long as you've done one 28 run on the toon then you can get dragged in to the higher level.

IMO the hardest part for PoE 34 was getting the timing down to deactivate the objectives with all the swarms of enemies. I personally did it with my self-rez warlock and two bubbly titans. I nabbed A before the floodgates of enemies swarmed in, and then each titan ran to another spot and planted a bubble. With arc on, a standard thrall can one hit you, not to mention the multiple witches/warlocks, so you still need to be fully aware.

The final boss is easy with a armor of light bubble. Whenever he flames you, stand in the bubble jumping and trying to stay in air as long as possible till the enrage dissipates.

I got a wolves bane machine gun and a couple of supremacy snipers, all in queen coloring. I might re-roll some stuff later on like if I decide to sport a pink machine gun, but for now I am just loving the arc glock. Wasn't expecting much from the tournament thing, but it has been a surprising blast actually!

I was able to join a buddy for a 28 PoE on my lock, who hasn't even done the first story mission, and they had already completed PoE earlier that day. So IDK what was up.

Ran another Level 28 PoE last night with Tukai. He got Patience & Time and some Queen-related shotgun. I received a new Legendary sniper rifle and a new ship.

Yeah you don't have to finish the story to enter 28lv PoE, once you've finished Lv 28 the you can join Lv 32,34,35... you'll need to finish the story in order to enter yourself as fire-team leader.

Ran PoE lv 34 last night... So much fun! Titans defenders with helm of saint and illuminated park make this so much easier! got the fusion 3 times! (such bad luck) a friend of mine got a scout with full auto, armor piercing, the other thing that increases stability and range but reduces mag size and firefly! I was so jealous

I want to do more PoE, but still have 2 more story runs to go. So from what I'm hearing the chest does have an exotic, but that is attached to the weekly reset, so only 3 tries for exotics from that chest correct?

Got the Queen's Rocket, so far so good. It is no GHorn, but it does a ton of damage.

I did the 28 and 32 on my hunter. I got the queens machine gun twice (23 bullets a clip wtf) and a universal remote...I need to do the story on my other two characters if anyone is on in a bit. I'll probably start with my titan.

Had a lot of fun last night. Afterwards I did get enough VG points to get an armor piece so I am at lvl 32 now. So we should make a run at that nightfall again tonight and the 32 POE if you want. I still have 1 treasure key on me

Got a 32 PoE done on my titan and I'm now officially level 33 :D/ . But have no more keys

(EDIT: d'oh, forgot I also pulled Techeun Force from this run)

Hopped in with some other friends to do fresh story runs on our alt toons. Once done, a buddy switch back to his main in order to take us into PoE at 32 but got rejected since my toon and the other guy's toon hadn't done 28 yet.

So, did a 28 run. I pulled an exotic shard (formerly Hardlight) and Her Right Hand (perks of Crowd Control & Glass Half Full).

Still have my hunter to run thru HoW story and it's virgin PoE run.

Then got to see about getting normal Crota done, 2 more NF's, all 3 Heroics. Plus find time to get the daily crucible match in and do all the remaining HoW bounties. Oh... and gotta farm more keys for PoE (that's gonna be fun, ugh)

I was able to join a buddy for a 28 PoE on my lock, who hasn't even done the first story mission, and they had already completed PoE earlier that day. So IDK what was up.
I think the key point is that your buddy did have access to PoE and he was only pulling you into a 28 level run. So in that respect it's fine since you weren't trying to get into 32, like when you tried to take my 'lock in.

Your 'lock should now be able to go into a 32 PoE run since 28 was already completed on it, even though the story hasn't been done on it. But I would guess that you can't be fireteam lead to initiate PoE; someone who's done the story would have to be lead.

I want to do more PoE, but still have 2 more story runs to go. So from what I'm hearing the chest does have an exotic, but that is attached to the weekly reset, so only 3 tries for exotics from that chest correct?

Not sure yet... you're guaranteed an exotic from it but still not clear (to me) if the exotic is tied to weekly reset.

The confusion for me comes from being able to loot the 28 chest as many times as you want, as long as you have a key to open it. That makes it seem like all loot is available from the 28 chest (loot table) as long as you have a key.

EDIT: so I found this on Planet Destiny

Weekly Reset

IGN was able to get confirmation from Bungie that the chests – even the chest that requires a Treasure Key to open, isn’t on a reset.

If you have keys, you can beat it and access the rewards in the chests. So there is no weekly lockout or anything on the chests.

Acquiring the loot from the big chest is only limited by the Treasure Key – and you’re able to carry 5 in your inventory, so you have 5+ chances at loot each week – or even each day, depending on how dedicated you are!

and

So what is the weekly reset for?”
Even though the chests aren’t on a reset, the guaranteed rewards are. The Armor Cores, Weapon Cores, & Etheric Light will drop per once per week, per character, the first time you complete that difficulty each week.

So I decided to trow the dice and used one armor core and one weapon core expecting to get a new piece of armor... ended up getting the shotgun...not bad at all, but not what I wanted (chest or boots) so I had to use my two etheric light to get to 34, so disappointed (since I wanted to upgrade my fatebringer)!

Haha, oh man... just watched a couple vids showing how quick and simple some of these PoE boss fights can be.

But I guess part of the fun of HoW has been experiencing this brand new for the first time.  Then you readjust to make it as efficient as possible.

After round 4 in the level 34 arena, it was almost disappointing how easy the boss at the end was. Still not nearly as disappointing as Crota. Every boss I've seen in the prison has been a thousand times better and more funner than Crota.

Really? What's your trick? On my two runs the boss was definitely WAY harder than round 4. Getting swarmed by adds while having to jump in the air and getting scorched by the ground is not fun.

Someone said kill everything but an ogre and more adds don't spawn. But that didn't work, They still come anyway, though it does buy you several seconds perhaps. The hard part is that you can't use rockets on the boss because you need them for the Wizards and Boomers. So it is Black Hammer and primary on Urrox which makes it take a while.

Both times I've beaten it, it was after like 10-20 tries and it was by the skin of our teeth (like two people dead and the last guy gets a final shot off that does him in before almost getting killed). I should add that the first time it was two Warlocks and a Hunter - no Titan bubble. But the second time I was a Defender Titan. The bubble can save you in a pinch, but no way is it ready for each Rage (the ground scorch) since they seem to happen every 30 seconds or so.

Now for the level 35, I could see getting lucky and doing that one really quickly. We had a friend who had two people quit there so we joined him after using our etheric light to get to 34. We had never done any of the rest of 35. We tried it about 6 times and on one we got him down to a sliver of health. We were lucky on that run that he didn't rush us so fast so I was able to unload 14 G-horn shots at him. I was firing Abyss Defiant in his face with the other two dead and you could barely see his health bar but then the adds got me. I probably wouldn't have been able to defuse all the mines even if I had killed him though. But in any case, it didn't seem as impossible as the Urrox one did the first time we went in there.

I'm sure we will all get more efficient as better strategies are figured out. Plus, being 34 on Urrox should make it much easier.

Despite how easy/cheesable the fights will eventually become, we still have to farm for the muthahumpin' keys!
I said this in the Xbox thread: wouldn't it be nice if Xur sold the keys for 10-20 coins? That would seem like a lot to new players but would reward those of us who have been playing this game for 100's of hours. But then that would mean Bungie throwing a bone to its most dedicated players - so that will never happen...

It would just save us from the mind-numbing key farming after having spent so many hours running Heroic Weeklies and saving up 100's of strange coins. We'd then use those keys to farm the PoE - so it's not like we'd play any less because of that ;).

2 hours into level 34 POE this dude quits to go smoke/eat. Thanks for wasting our time dick! We were on part 4 with arc burn and witches...they suck.

I just want to get my other two characters done and do 28 and 32 I guess...

34 with 2 hunters is just a bad idea but I dont have anyone else eligible yet besides my hunter.

We did level 34 today and it took us like 4 hours to complete. Hardest part of it all was the hive wave with the arc burn. We eventually cheesed it after we saw some video online. The boss was pretty hard, i dont think we could have done it without our double bubble. I also think the cabal part was giving us a hard time too. After it was all said and done, i had to use a key because it just took too long and it wouldnt be worth it not to use one after all that. Ended up getting Light Beyond Nemisis helm which had like +2 strength over my older version.

Also did level 28 with my second character and got a No Land Beyond, same fucking gun my first character got on level 28 strike.

Cant wait till tomorrow, really hope Xur has helmet engrams, and at least one new exotic armor to buy that isnt The Ram helmet. LOL Also cant wait to try out the trials of osiris, hopefully we play some noobs 5 games in a row so i can get a nice chest piece.

Yeah I just finished the 34 on my hunter with another hunter and a warlock from Reddit. We resorted to using the spawn lock cheese after we saw a video to beat round 4 as well. The boss took us a while until we figured out a decent strategy and then we got it done in like 3 tries. We basically just went to the back left and killed everything, but one ogre and the boss. That seemed to stop adds from spawning for a little while. During the windows with no adds my 2 teammates sniped the boss with Ice Breaker while I used Black Hammer. When adds spawned I saved my Gjally shots to drop  the wizards and knights as quickly as possible and then we repeated the process. We would occasionally get teleported which could mess things up, but it usually wasn't too hard to get back or at least get close enough and into a decent spot to be revived before going down. I had 1 key left which I was going to save, but since we had been at it for so long I decided to use it and ended up pulling the Pulse Rifle.

It definitely seems like the fight would be much simpler with a titan. It really wasn't that bad once we got our strategy down though and when we finally got it done it was a super rewarding experience. It definitely felt better than beating Crota or Atheon for the first time. I can only imagine what it will be like to drop Skolas.

Xur was a let down this morning. I did level my Icebreaker to 365 dmg though. I got a random Titan helm though , The Eternal Warrior.

Over the last 2 weeks, I think I finally found a niche with my Hunter. It's just using the Bladedancer and being the combat medic/sniper. I have a nice build to be able to go invis pop rounds, and revive people. I always found the Titan and Warlock to have so much more ability to live than Hunters. However I am finally going to work on leveling up the other classes this weekend so I can have more chances to get loot. I have a stash of Titan/Warlock gear built up, just gotta put in the time to level them.

Tonight the gameplan is to get the Nightfall done and POE lvl 32 (have 2 keys atm) and possibly raid this weekend. It's been nice meeting the CAG people in game and playing with them.

I think I'll pass on the engram this week. I'm pretty set on Exotic helms and would rather see if Xur sells any other type of Exotic engram next week.

Since the speaker can exchange materials for Motes (most materials are kinda useless now anyways), I have PLENTY of Motes to go around. It's also a good way to get a better version of the exotics you already have.

hey, as a person that does not plan on getting the HoW expansion.  If I'm on a fireteam with someone who does have it, can I do the PoE too if he/she is fireteam leader?

Same with Trials of Osiris as well?

I have 2 key and like 15 coin/tokens

Is tukai apart of the clan yet? I think seven has to accept him.

Nope, it will say that a fireteam member doesn't have access to the content (or something along that line).

Bought about 9-11 engrams and got the Hawk and Titan helmet. Already had the ram helmet, so i have all 3 helmets now. Only downside is my hawk helmet only has 100 intellect. Kind of wanted to try for it again but then i want to save my motes for chest, arm, leg engrams hopefully next week.

I messaged 7th Number about adding tukai last night, but 7th was in that PoE marathon and probably didn't see it. I was just in a party with him briefly this morning and forgot to ask, but I was able to finally get another key

I bought 8 engrams trying for new shit, got 3 3rd man, 2 helm of inmost light, a skull of skull of dire, the parasyte helm, and obsidian mind.

I hate you 7.

I got all three helmets with about 14 exotic engrams. The Hunter Hawk helm was the one that took the longest to get. I did get the Ram 6 times though so I ended up with one with great stats. (72 and 74 I believe.)

I didn't know that there was a cheese on the lv 34 PoE I have done it 3 times and every it didn't fell hard at all, all the three times there were two titans defenders with saint helm and gift of the void and gift of the light perks, the first time we were all lv 33 so it felt a bit harder that the final two times... For the first and the second run we were with a warlock voidwalker that was amazingly useful for crowd control and generating orbs with his nova bomb the third run we were with a hunter and since he doesn't generated that much orbs we had to rationate more the bubbles but both titan were 34 by then so it compensated for it.

For the 2nd and 3d round (Cabal) we stayed right in the middle with one bubble and one member was dedicated solely to deal with psyions because it's shokwace could penetrate the shield then it was all down to Ghorn and shotguns.

For the dreaded 4th round we went directly to the left side to a semi secure zone there were we popped a bubble and killed everything from there, for the mine deactivation waves just one of the member went out for the mines the other two stayed on the same spot killing thralls and waiting with rockets for the wizards to spawn to kill both of them and the boomers almost immediately after appearing. It is a really easy round and I think that what makes it hard is that it is also very easy to mess up.

For the fifth round... Same room bubbles, blessing, ghorn and black hammer would do it and again one member dedicated to thralls and cursed thralls and in the case that anyone gets teleported be as careful and as fast as they can to get back to the bubble.

Hit the gorgon chest 3x's and pulled mats every... stinkin'... time...

Finished the raid and got another Atheon's Epilogue.

And even though I had no keys, I took my 'lock thru PoE on 32.  So now it's 33.  If there was any doubt, the armor core IS a guaranteed drop your 1st time thru and you don't need a key to get it.

Afterwards, did the NF on the same toon and walked away with the new exotic gloves... for a hunter (Khepri's Sting).

Here's hoping that my hunter can return the favor and pull a new exotic for my Warlock, once I do his NF run.

Other than that, spent the last hour or so farming keys.  Walked away with 1 key, 1 purple engram and 1 Token of Flight.

And I should get one more key once I take my hunter thru the story.

But I think tonight will be more about Trials... we'll see.

Damn. I did three NFs yesterday with same randoms from LFG and ended up with 10 Coins, Pest Control Matrix (2nd one), and Sunbreakers (w/ higher INT so I might keep them). I was pretty disappointed not to get anything from the new DLC or something I didn't already own (just one Gjallarhorn is all I ask, good grief).

I've taken my Warlock & Titan through the new DLC and completed PoE lvl 28. My two exotic weapon drops were Hard Light and a Thunderlord (/sigh), and both times I got the Wolves' Bane machine gun. On the bright side I still have 9 treasure keys left so I won't have to farm any for a while at least.

I'd love to get the new exotic helmets but I'm not sure if I want to even use Motes of Light and gamble on getting them with my awful luck. That's right, I'm calling you out on your blatant shenanigans RNGesus!

I am looking forward to playing the Trials of Osiris later. I'm curious to how the whole matchmaking versus a new team every game and the better connectivity will work out.

My bad i remember you sending me a message but i didnt have time to listen to it and i forgot. But i did send him an invite today.

It says right on the rewards you get an armor core. After you beat it once then rewards disappear because you cant get them again.

I just realized im really wasting my keys opening up the 28 chest because i have every exotic and getting a new one isnt really helping because its much easier just putting an exotic shard into my old ones that are already leveled up. I did get an exotic armor from the big chest on level 34 though, so maybe i could pull a new exotic armor? Otherwise i think i will hold onto my keys, dont really care about getting queen weapons.

From what I've gathered, the VoG chest cannot drop HoW exotic armor. It is strictly limited to the launch items, and similarly Ir Yut & Crota are locked as well (though their loot tables include both 1.0 and TDB gear, obviously).

Took 8/9 engrams to finally get Ram + Moai Titan hat (which looks JUST like my Awoken titan's normal face....such a let down).

I still need a 32 PoE on my Titan + Lock anyways.
