Diamond; Pearl; Platinum 1-B (General Discussion; Strategies, Metagame, etc.)

I think they did that because the game forces you fight Dialga/Palkia so it would have been a little cruel of them to dick you around for a completely non-optional fight with a low catch rate of 3 since traditionally legendaries have always been optional pokemon

true, but you have to admit, dialga and palkia prove very helpful after you acquire them.

anyone kno a good training spot for like 20-30 and 30-40?
just beat the 5th gym cuz i used a friggin darkrai :p

in particular im looking for vs seeker spots

Meh, Dalgia/Palkia are fine I think. But right now I'm using Azelf and Uxie. Azelf's attack is so high, even against other psychic pokemon, and Uxie can tank easy against specials. Both are excellent for Offense and Defense. Yeah, catching them is just a matter of luck (and soft resets). I couldn't catch Uxie after like 30 ultras and after my reset, I only caught him after 4 or so ultra balls.
true, but you have to admit, dialga and palkia prove very helpful after you acquire them.
I wouldn't know, I never used my Dialga after catching him, never even took him out of my PC box. So I don't have anything to admit :nottalking:

The only legendary I've ever really used to any extent was my Rayquaza in Sapphire, but that was because I couldn't resist the idea of making a legendary my Fly bitch, since he came with the move

Wait, I lied, I also used a Mew in Blue version as a HM bitch. don't give me that look, I had seven mews at one point, every single one of them legit, god bless the nintendo mall tours.

I used Mewtwo after I got him in the original Pokemon Blue. Man I loved that little pale turd.

What the-? Man, Nintendo sure does know how to milk a good thing. Making me buy a separate guide for the dex is pretty blatant. Ah well, what I got comes with the subscription, so at least I gots the mag as well...
Dialga/Palkia have a catch rate of 30 while the three psychic pokemon have a catchrate of 3. Pretty crazy.
What is this catchrate you are talking about?

I am SO lost in Turnback Cave. I know I can get out by just going through the door I came in through, but this is a randomly generated dungeon and there are puzzles that supposedly tell me where to go, but I do not understand them.

Any ideas!?!?

Edit: Somehow I made it to the Giratina. He is sure big on the screen.

Double Edit: Got him with a Dusk Ball.

I'm fixing to catch heatran. I'll probably go after Giratina tomorrow.

Tell me how that goes.

Edit: I read in the other thread that you got it.

Oh man... I feel totally bummed out. I just read about the existence of EVs. I'm already up to the Elite Four, however I used my legendary pokemon getting to that point and already saved... Now I'm in a predicament. I don't know whether I should just reset my game and start all over, or just finish the game for the sake of finishing. I was actually hoping my Azelf and Uxie cound become the best they could, but seeing as what I have done, doesn't seem like it.

There are berries in the game that erase EV values, you can just plant a lot from every type and then feed your Azelf and Uxie the berries until their evs should theoretically be reset then you can start them fresh. EVs are not worth restarting the game over, if you do that you're going to burn yourself out

Yertle! Thanks, I already had the noose around my neck. Phew. I was even about to give away all my crap pokemon. Thanks for saving my game Yertle.

These are the berries you're going to want to plant en mass:
Pomeg Berry:
Lowers Effort Points for HP by 10 Points
Kelpsy Berry: Lowers Effort Points for Attack by 10 Points
Qulaot Berry: http://www.serebii.net/pokemon_advance/berrydex/23.shtml
Lowers Effort Points for Defense by 10 Points
Hondew Berry: Lowers Effort Points for Special Attack by 10 Points
Grepa Berry: Lowers Effort Points for Special Defense by 10 Points
Tamato Berry: Lowers Effort Points for Speed by 10 Points

I would wait until after you beat the elite four to bother mucking around with the berries. That way you won't have to go back and do more training suddenly when the egg was in sight. The post-game is very open ended and is a better time to perfect things

The thing you should be worry about is the nature and IVs of legendary pokemon. Unless you are the kind of person that capture them over and to make sure they have the best stat, I dont see the point of worry this or EV unless you planning to battle people who do EV train

I kinda agree. I'm still learning about the whole EV thing, and I've been playing all the pokemon games since red and blue came stateside.

Yeah, I've known about EVs since Red and Blue honestly when one of the workers at the Pokemon Mall tour explained the basics to me, my brother and his friend after one of us almost beat nintendo's 'elite' pokemon team via the wideboys. He then went on to give my brother's friend clones of the nintendo team, good ole grep, cron and I think the last one was sid. In any case I've never bothered with them until this generation since I didn't really have a competitive circuit outside of my brothers and a few friends, but now that I can online, well now it's relevant. I have to ev my team if I want to be able to take out increasingly broken pokemon like Salamence and Tyranitar without using them myself. I'm just glad the pokerus is getting around like it is to make life easier

I've been out the loop, I still don't know how the FC trading works, but I have all the D/P and R/B starters and a Ditto. If you want them, let me know, maybe then I could figure this shit out.

You need to get the pal pad from the basement of a pokecenter. I think the girl that gives them out is on the left. Anyways, she'll give you that and your friend code. Open the pal pad in key items to register friend codes. There ya go.

Also, I assume you're not giving out that ditto but if you are I would LOVE to have one.

Man, internet trading makes this a whole different game. I got all 3 starter pokemon in as many days for some fresh-out-of-the-water Magikarps. That would be UNHEARD OF with any other version. Really changes things up.

Lot of leet speak in Nintendo games lately though.

Noob, for the win, leet!

I do have another, if you want it. I can get online now, not sure about later.

My FC is: 1332 4165 1272
I'd kill for a ditto too. =X
I have another I just got from a very good trade, I really want to try out the FC trading...so... if you want to jump on I'd be happy to give you one.

Yea really. I'm gonna try to get a female Turtwig so I can finally start breeding some.

And ditto on the leet speak and lots of new-age slang too. I think I remember one of the NPCs saying "off da hook".

You were actually audible and understandable chatting too Zewone, first person that it's actually worked for. Hopefully my nasty mic didn't kill your ears. ;)

Sure thing Hohez, lemme go hop back into Wifi. Will kill two birds with one stone and get my Graveler changed to a Golem. =P

Haha, funny how this thread is turning into the wi-fi thread now. Two threads cannot contain the wi-fi beast!

EDIT: I'll go ahead do the gengar evolution for hohez since I'm in the room right now.

EDIT EDIT: Nevermind.

I would like to have the starter Piplup anyone have one to trade? I've seen some on GTS but don't have (or heard of) what they want in return. On my way to get my 2nd badge so I don't have much.

it doesn't matter how many sub-threads are made. everyone will be turned into a wifi thread no matter what we do. it's because wifi is just that awesome!

Speaking of which, do you still have one of those eevees or one of its precious, precious eggs?

halfbent, that was without question my favorite trade so far. And I've done 85 trades so that says a lot.
haha, having my cousin sit in my lap while I'm doing all this is a blast, he's going nuts at it all. =P

They used "for the win" at least three times if I remember right.

Wi-fi certainly is awesome, but I hope that everybody at least makes an effort to keep the threads separate. Of course things will be put in the wrong thread because of how conversations go, but if an effort is made then things will be better for all.
Holy shit, Zubat take for-fucking-ever to level up... and I doubt he'll be useful until he's a Golbat.
I never use Zubat in combat really. If I want a Golbat I will just place Exp Share on Zubat.
