So I was bored, so I found Limp Bizkit's classic, Faith. Of course, the original song was pretty damn pansy, but I remember this version being comically ridiculous. And yeah - it still has the part where Fred Durst says "you gotta have faith," and follows it directly with "GET THE fuck UP."

Reminded me of Yakuza.

i know DOA gets a lot of hate but some of it undeserved.

yes, it's possible to counter every move but it is seriously impossible to counter 9-frame jabs EVERY time. i mean, in SC, you can GI every move, right? and there's only two inputs you need to know, DOA has 4.

okay, you can counter in the middle of a string (no GI in SC4 in the middle of a combo), but if you mess up you get hit wayyyy harder and it's usually hard to see anyway... which, if you can, you should be rewarded, right?

the one thing that i don't get is how so many people like VF but no one plays it. it's not that hard to get into or understand. it's enjoyable even at a basic level. the SC4 scene just started up in my area and almost everyone's new, including me, whereas VF4-5 no one attempted to even host.

speaking of which, SC4 meet tonight. hopefully my setsuka got better. probably not.

If you're on SC IV tonight, I'll let you stomp me since I've neglected to practice and need to get my ass beat for that.

I think one of the major issues with VF5 is that the online mode doesn't have lobbies, and you can't change stages or anything like that... I dunno, it just feels shoddily put together in the online mode, and they excised basically everything that could allow for a VF5 community to form.

I don't like DOA. It feels too much like a guessing game because countering is so damn generous. Of course, I can't hate the game too much, seeing as how I probably put in at least 1000 matches with Apossum alone, so yeah...

Thats the problem I have with VF, no one plays that shit. Or we only play it for the first 2 weeks lol.

And DOA, I just don't like the system period. jab throw is too powerful and if you've got mad yomi you'll decimate in no time. This is just one point I don't like but, yea, I played this game too and gave it it's chance, but in the end no one really played it competitively either.

Some friends of mine got top 8 at EVO west for DOA4 and they only played the game for 30 minutes and entered cus no one else did lol.

I also think the life bar depletes too fast in DOA. If you have counters happening every 2 seconds, it's annoying, because a couple of those and you're usually fucked. There was so much annoying shit in that game's grapple system, too... and Jann Lee. Man, I was actually really good at that game at one point... why couldn't I have just devoted my time to a game that wasn't so bootleg?
fuck you all for ripping on DoA! You guys just don't understand!

I'm probably still better than you.

Whoa, The Witcher: Enhanced Edition is out next week. I'll finally get to play this game! Apparently, they polished literally everything that people complained about in the original release, so this game is probably about perfect now.

I'm soo fucking scrubby in Soul Calibur. I just got beat by a Voldo spamming bb or smomething because I couldn't get the GI to work.

God. I do okay against the CPU in training mode, and then just completely forget everything and suck as soon as I go online. fuck.
KOF XI and Mark of the Wolves are the pinnacle of SNK fighters IMO. Both have SF style inputs. Mark of the Wolves even has parries (Just Defend system) like SF III. KOF XI is a 3 vs 3 fighter with smooth graphics and a nice engine. Mark of the Wolves isn't $20 and import only on the PS2. It's also on the Dreamcast but pretty rare. That being said, I was able to swing a trade for the DC version on the CAG Trading Forums.
SFIII is a very underrated game in my opinion. Never got to the popularity level of SSFII:Turbo... :\ I didn't really get to play it until I picked up the Anthology on PS2... This made me sad.

It's understandable why SFIII didn't have the same Impact(har har). The game just wasn't as accessible... it felt slower, and gameplay systems like parries made the game too difficult for a newbie trying to take on someone who knows how the game is played.

I do really like the game, though, but not as much as some other fighters.

Dreamcast games are fucking expensive!

I really want to learn SF2. What's the best version to do that on? Don't say snes or genny cause I don't have them.

Yes, Dreamcast games are expensive.

I'd personally say the best version of SF2 to learn off of is the Capcom Classics Collection 2 version of Super Street Fighter II Turbo. It's the version most people seem to like best, and Dave Sirlin made an excellent set of videos on the disc that explain how to play the game, and do it well.

Though personally, I don't like SFII, so I might not be the best person to ask.

PS2 anthology with an arcade stick.
Or one of the XBLA titles with an arcade stick.

I don't have a stick. I'm still too casual with the genre to really need one.

Chac, what Street Fighter do you like? I've never spent more than 5 minutes with one.

What's the best place to get DC games cheap?

If I have one made before I certain date I can read like all CD-R's right?

I like Third Strike, Alpha 2, and Alpha 3. I'd say the Alpha games are definitely the easiest to get into, and you can play them on GGPO.

DC games are not cheap. I pick my shit up on Ebay or Half.com and just hope I get lucky and get something on the cheap.

I think that models made in late 2000 had the CD reading ability taken out, but if you wanna find out if your Cast works for that, just put a CD in and see if it works. Does it work? Well, then it works.

i don't play SC online, it pisses me off too much

wow, the witcher
that game was hilariously bad when i played it

I remember you saying you didn't like it back in like December or something... but you were like the only one, ya kook! Out of curiosity, though, what didn't you like about it?

the anthology then. ps2 has better d-pad... my only complaint against console SF games is the placement of the fierce/roundhouse buttons... i always have to change the config to make the face buttons medium/strong and fierce/roundhouse, moving jab/short to the shoulders...
K, I just dowloaded four of the free NBCs shows from iTunes. When I sync my iPod, they don't show up. Why.
Do you need to update the firmware on your Touch or the version of iTunes you're using? You could also try to manually drag n drop the file to see if it's actually compatible. I know the HD versions won't work on my iPod "classic".

I played a little more Vesperia last night--I'm enjoying the story so far, but I have the sudden urge to check a guide just to make sure I'm going into new areas at the right levels. I will probably play more ToV tonight, perhaps balanced with some Warhammer Online.
It's a brand new touch: I had to update iTunes to download the songs.
Videos are a separate sync maybe? I dunno, I don't sync, I manually manage my library so I can use it with multiple computers.
How do you manage it manually? I'm retarded.
When I'm looking at my iPhone (just about a touch, right?) in iTunes, the first page, I end up unchecking all the boxes for "sync automatically" and make sure the one that says something about "manually sync my files" is checked.

If you have it like that, you can go look at the files in iTunes and just drag them to the Touch/iPhone, I believe.

ebay. You can find capcom snk 1 for like $9. There are tons of those available and it's a great game to start out with.

if you want to play me in SF II on your pc PM me. Of course I hope you have some game pad because the keyboard sucks.

I think it's like march 2000 and before can read cd-r's which is most of them because they shut down production months later.

SF3 is still a big contender at EVO and has been for quite some time. It's a great looking fighter but since the roster is almost completely different, it doesn't feel like a street fighter game would and besides, sf2 spawned tons merchandise, anime movies, shows, manga and was a revolutionary fighting game which dominated arcades and was ported over to the SNES, PC, Genesis, Commodore 64, GBA, 3DO, Playstation, Saturn, PSP you name it.

Sf3 never hit consoles until the Dreamcast around 2000 so most people got left out. It reached the ps2 in 2004 but by then it was really too late but I imagine it got lots of arcade time but remained a cult classic for hardcore SF fans.

When SF3 was in arcades, it was overshadowed by games like SF vs X-Men and Marvel vs Capcom in my area anyway.

Sf2 was so great that even Sf4 takes place after sf2 because of all the great characters they put in the game.

Looks like details/info is leaking out about the stuff at GameStop show...

SF IV should get a major marketing push soon, expect to see a lot more stuff in the very near future ;)

You've played SFIV, MM... to me, based on gameplay videos, it looks like a variant on SF2 and SF3... same core gameplay but with a few different characters over the base SF2 set... (not even going to get into the graphics here)... please enlighten me about the SFIV gameplay.

How did Revolver Ocelot get in this game?

Want Yakuza 2 but have $5 BB bucks so I have to wait for them to get it :cold::cold:

I've played it a little at the arcade, and let me tell you, it's much faster and more intense than both SF2 and 3.

While I'm listening to my custom music I'm using my created player

(name, age, height weight, player type [sniper, grinder, dangler, playmaker, power forward], jersey number, how much he fights, appearance [head, skin, hairstyle, hair color, facial hair, FH color, eyebrow, EB color, eye color, black eye(s), scar(s), freckles], stick [shaft and blade], skates, gloves, helmet, visor, visor tint, shoulder pads, pant length, jersey tuck, sock tuck, and tape.

Me and almost 10 of my friends are on our own team composed of kids I play real life soccer and lacrosse with. We all have custom players and me and 3 kids are about to play a bunch of games together.

As you play games online with friends and offline trying to start in the hockey minor leagues (AHL) you get points to make you better (its really fucking hard to upgrade anything).

SF IV feels a lot like super turbo but it does have some 3S elements (very few)... such as EX moves and throw system. Also it is so easy to link moves in this one.

Zoning though, with parry gone, makes it feel like Super Street Fighter II Turbo more than anything. Now you still have the focus attacks and dash cancels, but thats a new element more than anything (similar to what some Arcsystems games have).

So all in all, it's a game of its own still. It has a lot of elements from a bunch of different fighting games. But it holds the fort down... so far.
God fucking damnit, update that did nothing did nothing.
2.1? 2.1 is amazing, if only because of the kickass new Genius features.
I was sad to hear that the new touches have a built-in speaker, which is pretty much the only tihng I wanted in mine.
But I love my Ipod Touch. Its amazing.

No, I dl'd the 1.5 or whatever. Trying to get my videos to transfer from iTunes to the Touch, and they won't. Someone said updating it might help.

Huh, I thought the fixed version of the Witcher was out already? Not sure if I'll get it...that game is so fucking long and there's so much dialogue, though it's all good.

These days i'm pretty much just slowly playing RE2 on my psp...and the occasional marathon of Civ IV (the most addictive game of all time...)

yeah, I mean, you took me over after the first 3 months...then went on to win for what...the next 2 years?

I guess I lost my BURNING FIST PASSION OF HEART FIRE OF MATCHING SERVICE for fighting games. :(

Someone tried arguing with MarkMan about fighting games? I didn't think anyone would dare to since MarkMan's... you know... like... never wrong.

As a side comment, while DOA's gameplay is pretty 'blah' in generally, I have the most fun with it. Keep in mind, I said fun, like... enjoyment. It's in no way better than any of the other 3D fighting games like SC, Tekken or VF.

Yeah... you should buy Soul Calibur IV again. Or whatever the new hotness is in a few months. It's just not the same unless your opponent understands that the goal of a fight is to close the other person's pussy by punching it.

I'm getting kinda sick of my uncomfortable headphones, and the $50 set of 5.1 logitech speakers I have here isn't cutting it. Maybe I should man up and buy a nice pair of headphones. The kind that you can't bring out in public because they're too nice, and because it'll look like you're wearing an astronaut helmet.
