Final Fantasy XIII coming to 360!
Should be interesting since it was supposedly using the fabled "White Engine" tailored specifically for PS3.
I love nitpicking!
The White Engine became open platform early on and was later renamed CrystalTools.
They're still in debt from poor sales of "Rad Racer," evidently.
Sales jumped eight million percent when Lucas showed us how bad the PowerGlove was.

I call your assertion into question!

Whelp, I guess that FFXIII Versus is still PS3 exclusive, at least for now. Sorry Cheapy but it is still PS3 exclusive in Japan.

"According to Kotakuhttp://kotaku.com/5025033/liveblogging-square-enix-press-conference, Square Enix exec Shinji Hashimoto told reporters: "I think you are right [in assuming that (the Xbox 360 version) is not coming out in Japan.]" It will only appear on Xbox 360 in English-speaking territories."

"Also, Final Fantasy Versus XIII is still in development as a PS3 exclusive."

You forgot to mention Unlimited Saga, Final Fantasy Unlimited, Final Fantasy The Spirits within, Dawn of Mana, That Musashi game on PS2, Final Fantasy X-2 and so many more.

Unlimited Saga... worst $3 I ever spent (and I'm one of the few who like saga frontier on PS1). Square really did put out a lot of mediocre/terrible PS2 games.

FFX-2 sold over five-million copies, dude...which means that it actually sold more than FF XII.

I paid five dollars for it. So I got raped worse then you did. At least the instruction manual was in color...... And yeah they really seemed to put a ton of shit on the PS2. I thought Saga Frontier 2 was pretty good actually. Though did they have to be so stingy with money?
That would be funny as hell I think. MS thinking they made a good deal on getting FFXIII and then Sony shows FFVII remake.

But it's not going to happen.
What do you mean MS thinking they made a good deal? They did make a good deal my friend. This is something that will keep the 360 ahead of the PS3. Lets just hope the game is good. Nice announcement, and from the reactions around the world from this news, it appears that MS is going to win this round if not the war.

But for me personally, it will not make a difference. I will still buy God of War 3, Resistance 2, and alot of the games coming out for the PS3, because I am a gamer, and gamers play them all. I am not a loyal fanboy to one particular system. I am a gamer that would tell you how great Gears of War is and in the same breath tell you that the Xbox 360 is built like a piece of shit. (Mine just died the other day, case and point.) So I call them like I see them, and only a fanboy couldn't handle the truth.

X-2 was not terrible and wow it sold more than XII
WOW just hearing today about this.... WHY squaresoft lol.. WHY
now.. there really isnt a point of buying a PS3 at all..
Yeah they really were gonna buy one. That's like saying I was going to buy a 360 until Bioshock was announced for the PS3. NOW I HAS NO MOAR REASONS TO GET THREE SIXTY!

And How the hell did Final Fantasy X-2 sell so much? And why the hell do I even HAVE that game in the first place?

Sounds really good to me! :D I am really happy for MS getting another PS3 exclusive!
I cant wait until it hits store shelves. Ill be picking it up for the Xbox 360.

But, it also make me sad because i wont be buying a PS3 for a long time!
And How the hell did Final Fantasy X-2 sell so much? And why the hell do I even HAVE that game in the first place?
I personally enjoyed X-2. I mean, yeah, it was a bit weird and different, but it was still a decent game. I liked learning more about what happened after the end of FFX, even if the story in X-2 was a bit meh.
And How the hell did Final Fantasy X-2 sell so much? And why the hell do I even HAVE that game in the first place?
At least in Japan, Yuna is basically pop-star level popularity status.

The game was decent but nowhere near the level of FFX, which was in my opinion, by far one of the best FF games ever.

Let's just hope she doesn't turn to the dark side and shave her head.

I updated the first post with the best quality youtube video i could find...though honestly, since they haven't even started work on the 360 version of the game, this is PS3 footage...but i'm sure all you fanboys don't care :p

Unless there is some HUGE exclusive with the 360 version I will still be getting this on the PS3 because it will likely be on 1 disc on the PS3 vs. 4-5 discs on the 360.

This is the deathblow for Sony in the US though this gen. They will be neck and neck with 360 in Europe and be stuck behind the Wii in Japan, but they will NEVER get near the 360 in the US this gen with this announcement. I know of at least one person, maybe 2, that this will cause them to not get PS3's now. Multiply that across the US and 360 will have a firm foothold on 2nd place in the US, but will make more money for more companies than Nintendo (as very few things not made by Nintendo sell on the Wii.)

This reminds me of the original E3 when Sega did their whole press conference about their "secret launch" of the Saturn that day for $399 and the entire Sony press conference right after was "Sept. XX for $299."

Also what the bleep was that mess by Microsoft of not allowing G4 to show the FFXIII trailer clearly? What sense does that make? Was this shown live on any other site and were the same restrictions applied?

I heard that it will be out for PS3 first for Japan, but will hit NA on both the 360 and PS3 at the same time.
Can anyone confirm this?

especially since MSFT doesn't have many other big exclusives coming.
Gears of War 2, next Bungie project, Star Ocean 4 (maybe?), Tales of Vesperia, The Last Remnant (timed exclusive), Rock Band 2 (timed exclusive), Banjo 3, Forza 3, Left 4 Dead, Alan Wake, Halo Wars, Infinite Undiscovery, Splinter Cell: Conviction, Too Human, Fable 2, etc. (I'm tired now).

You left out the big one. Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise......

I joke..but also they will have Fallout 3 DLC being exlusive if I remember right.

Square-Enix would have been stupid not to release FF13 on 360 at this point. As stunned as I was that an FF game will be going multi-platform at launch, it makes perfect sense. A big part of the reason Sony dominated in the PS1/2 era was having the cream of the crop RPG's or getting them first. I think Skies of Arcadia and Shenmue were the only great RPGs that didn't find their way onto PS2, imho iirc. Now, the 360 is home to all the great RPGs atm. Sony just took too long to get their act together and as a result, lost the monopolistic stranglehold it had on the RPG market.

The 360 got the ball rolling with getting exclusivity from Mistwalker and has only garnered momentum since. While the PS3 has some potentially good exclusive RPG's in the pipeline in Valkyria Chronicles (34/40 Famitsu), Disgaea 3 (you either love it or hate it), and White Knight Story, it seems that any and all shots Sony had at establishing dominant market share in the RPG department have just dissipated with the slate of recent Squenix announcements (SO4 and last remnant being exclusive, multi-platform FF13).

A big part of the reason I bought my PS3 over the 360 was that I was assuming that FF13 was going to be an exclusive title, coupled with the ridiculous failure rate on the 360. I still don't really have any regrets as I've enjoyed my PS3 (Uncharted and MGS4 are great exclusives) and I still do plan on eventually getting a 360 and or its successor at some point. However, I have a feeling that any major rpg lovers who had not yet adopted a console up to this point holding out on a sony revival have to see the light of day. It is now the 360's time to shine. From here on in, it seems that RPGs will go the way of most other genres and multi-platform will be the name of the game.

I've heard reports saying an interview on G4 saying the game on 360 would be on 1 disc. Does that strike anyone as disappointing if true? I'm trying to figure out how that would be true and it boggles my mind considering the disc-swapping fest with many JRPG's on the 360 (Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, no doubt Tales will too).

I wouldn't consider it a deathblow. A huge deterrent yes. But not a deathblow. Because in all honesty, do you see regular gamers playing Final Fantasy? The last Final Fantasy to get the casual gamer's attention has been Final Fantasy VII. Hell I still remember that marketing push. "You can always press the reset button" But in all seriousness the sales of the game have been going down for quite a while. A bigger deathblow would be having a far superior madden or fight night. That's what the majority plays "sad as that may seem" And that's what usually gets talked about with casual players.

And G4 has never had really clear trailers. You go online for those, not watch them on tv through 480i.
Did you see the press conference? Because it was the only trailer that got special treatment with the horrid view. The only thing I can think of is, its the same trailer thats online that says at the end "exclusively on PS3 in Japan" at the end and MS didn't want to show that for obvious reasons.

Impossible. There is absolutely no way they'll be able to put the entire game on 1 disc...

Just out of curiosity...does anyone remember that SE has been talking lately of 'renting' games online, games like FFXIII. I could see them releasing 'episodes' via Xbox Live. Just thought i'd throw that out there. Personally, if all the episodes add up to $10 or so under the retail price of the game, i might be for it.

Not this particular one. I have seen their stuff in the past and it always felt like I was watching a reel of a high def trailer that was being looked at through a recorder then forced through some really shitty 480i tube. ALL the crap from G4 tended to look rather grainy to me. Even when they're doing direct feed of a game like cheat. But that may just be the HDTV making regular channels look like ass.

Well I'm just telling you what I heard man. If it were 1 disc, and I shutter at the thought, I would think it was going to follow in the footsteps of a Mass Effect where you don't get the full story in a single game. And since FFXIII (Novala Crystalis whatever) is a platform to Square...god, I don't want to think about that.

Yeah, Sony pretty much got fucking owned in the face. This announcement was MAXIMUM PWNAGE C-C-C-C-C-C-C-COMBO BREAKER betraylton, megaton, gigaton. Oh well, at least there's MGS4...for now! LoL.

P.S. I own both consoles, but Sony just keeps getting owned left and right. I've been a loyal Sony fan since the PS1, but this announcement had to be the last straw for me. I've lost all faith in Sony. They're doomed.

P.S.S. PS3 useless confirmed?

Whoever said one disc should be fired for being under controlled substances. I'm betting at least four discs if they use a dual layered blu ray. But if Square uses TWO blu rays then all bets are off.

Ironically, I don't give a shit about Final Fantasy that much and haven't played it since 10. I just want to complain because I'm bored. It's like those illegal immigrants and white people talking about how they TOOK DER JERB

Liar, your just the common day fanboy. You've been at this for at least wha, the last 12 hours.

Well I'm a little dissapointed, but I plan on getting a 360 anyway since it has all those other rpg exclusives. I currenty only have the ps3 this generation. It's definatly a big blow to sony since I'm like alot of you I bought my PS3 a couple weeks ago based on square-enix support for sony. On the other hand since the PS3 version is on blu ray don't be surprised if the PS3 version has some extras that the 360 doesn't have, but that might not happen either. I really am going to have to get all 3 consoles again. I didn't want to have to but I've expected that I would end up having too. I knind of feel like I'm in the 32 bit era when I purchased a saturn instead of a ps1 at first.

True. That was pretty ugly and I enjoyed being called stupid for owning a 360. Because I weighed all my options, looked at the factors and made a decision based on what I liked the most. But OH NOES! RROD!!!

Screw Fanboys of all varieties. Right in their puckered virgin assholes.

But at least it's fun to read. Let's start busting out the "internet fight" images.

I read this post in the voice of that Dreamcast in that old IGN DC vs PS2 fight video back when PS2 launched when it was spouting off games.

Sonic Adventure 2?!

This is example 'A' on FF XIII moving systems to 360. Anyone who says different is just fooling themselves. It will be exactly like GTA IV where it sells more than double on the XBOX than on the PS3.

Where are you guys coming up with this stuff? FF7 is 1.5GB, FF8 is 2GB, FF9 is 2GB, FF10 is 3.75GB, FF12 is 3.5GB. Now if the trend stays FF13 will be 7GB, that can easily fit on one DVD. Mark my words FF13 will be on no more than 3 DVD but my money is on 1 or 2 DVD. FF13 WILL NOT be anywhere near 200GB Paco :lol::lol::lol:

You fail and logic and math :D. FFXII was on the PS2, low res. textures (or close). FFXIII will be on the PS3, with high res. textures, 400+ system memory being used compared to 64 MB that the PS2 had? Yeah, i'm expecting the HD cutscenes + game to = 20+ GB, or about 4 DVDs, perhaps 5.

I own both systems and i will wait for the comparisons. The 360 is so damned hot it heats up my house. I may get it for that reason alone. Although it may be getting close to winter so that may be a win win!

I am glad to see this.

On a side note I bet Versus won't be out on the 360- Just the main title.
