Hey, at least my console isn't going to randomly die for no reason. That's the #1 reason I bought it over the RROD console.

If anyone wants to sell their PS3 out of pure anger right now, I'm your man.

Not that I'd think that was a wholly appropriate response, but sure.

Yet, we still own reliable hardware, a system that allows us to use any steering wheel, headset, hard drive we want, built in wireless, free online and the best software lineup for 2008 and beyond. But yah, you guys got FF13, i wonder if it will top Lost Odyssey for number of discs you will need lol.

I have a 360, but it is a disaster hardware wise, and paying to play online is pure horsecrap. The controller also has the worst D-Pad in the history of gaming (i bought a BRAND NEW 360 wireless controller 2 weeks ago and the d-pad on it is WORSE then the old one i had!). PS3 is going nowhere. Enjoy your making b-rated movies with fat chicks and singing rap songs with white people. LOL.

GB2gamefaqs.

Speaking of D-Pads, the Sony Dualshock 2's I've dealt with lately have been unreliable as anything.

I opened up a brand new DS2 and its "up" button didn't work.

My old controllers from 2001 randomly turn on and off, and my 2004 pad just shut down entirely.

It's 500 dollars for a PS3 and MGS4. Look on the bright side. At least you're living proof that a company doesn't need quality control. There's always idiots stupid enough to buy ford pintos, xbox 360s, Apple Newtons, AOL and so forth.

O SNAP YOU PLAYED THE RROD CARD. 360 owners sure are pwned now!
O SNAP YOU PLAYED THE RROD CARD. 360 owners sure are pwned now!
OH SNAP YOU JUST GOT HIT WITH THE TROOF! But in all seriousness everyone I know has had at LEAST one red ring of death. That's no coincidence in just how bad the quality control is. Even the PS2 in its heydey never had "How do you get a DRE? Just turn it on"

The RRoD is only the beginning. The huge piracy on the 360 is a even bigger concern, especially with the fact that you do NOT need a modchip and you can STILL play on LIVE with a 360 that plays copies. Or should I also mention that besides the RRoD, you also have some of the worst drives on the planet where games get stuck, break down, stop reading, or even not read at a playable rate and Microsoft expects you to fork over for a new one through NO fault of your own. I was playing GTA4 on the 360 and a BUILDING. Yes a BUILDING popped out of nowhere. Granted The PS3 had popup too. But at least a FREAKING BUILDING did not pop up out of nowhere and made me CRASH.

Here's the easiest way to see the 360 is FAIL. SOULJA BOY HAS ONE

Piracy hasn't killed PC gaming, and it won't kill the 360.

Uh, no. Play with a modded system, and you WILL eventually get banned.

Yawn. At least the 360 isn't stuck with half-hour installs that, in the case of DMC4, don't even really improve load times.

This is all stupid. The 360 is still the better-selling system, so it can't be that bad, eh?

I am really hoping that Resistance 2 kicks all kinds of ass. I know a lot of people around here didn't care for the first one, but I hope this game is going to be huge. PS3 needs a huge OMG game right now. Little Big Planet could also be very good. PS3 just needs brand new games that don't suck ass or are a complete disappointment. We need less Haze and Lair type games and more games like Uncharted or something. PS3 needs more exclusives, because it's getting harder and harder to seperate it from the 360.

Piracy hasn't killed PC gaming, but it sure gimped the hell out of it. The PC gaming market is on a huge downturn compared to just five years ago.

And playing with a modded system gets you banned only if you do something incredibly stupid like say... Play Grand Theft Auto 4 before its' release date? that's pretty suspicious right there. But when the mod is just a firmware update on the DVD drive itself which means nothing extra is placed in there.

Half hour? More like 15 minutes. And I rather have a 15 minute install then have a building pop up out of nowhere and make me lose a mission. But I guess you enjoy listening to the takeoff sounds of Delta with how that 360 sounds no? 360 devs would LOVE to install to the hard drive but microsoft will NOT let them make it mandatory since they have to still fuel that gimp called the arcade set.

I have access to both. I play on both. And I enjoy both. But you got to face facts that the 360 is nowhere near reliable enough to make it your only console.
Please tell me this includes FFXIII Versus.
I hope Microsoft will also get Versus, I'm not intrested in playing turn based RPGs anymore (aside from Dungeons and Dragons, since I used to play and actually know exactly how the combat system works. Besides most D&D PC games are turn based/action hybrids), but I would love to play a FFXIII game by the Kingdom Hearts team.

I am kinda pissed that this happened only because I'll be hearing more shit from Xbox vs PS3 discussions. I'll still get it for PS3. Me thinks Sony needs a FFVII, KH3 and GoW3 announcements with release dates/trailers. A big MMO wouldn't hurt either. They need this for me :D

Really why can't everyone just be happy and play video games? Oh yeah, this is the internet.

What I'd really like to know is how the hell this managed to stay a secret until E3.

Personally i don't think Sony fanboys should talk about RROD, I had multiple PS1s and multiple PS2s and so does everyone I know. And when my launch PS2 started freezing 2 days after the launch Sony wanted me to pay $40 plus shipping both ways for them to fix it, that's some awesome customer service wouldn't you say?

Now when my launch 360 got RROD after 2 years of intensive use, I called M$ and they said no prob and sent me a box with a prepaid UPS label which I got the next day, all i had to do was put my xbox in the box, stick the prepaid UPS label on and seal it up (with a piece of tape they included no less, lol), it couldn't have been much easier than that, UPS even came to my house and picked it up. A week later i got a new 360 from them, thats real customer service.

I own a PS3 and one thing I worry about is bricking it with Sony's neverending barrage of (faulty) firmware updates. And if I do what will Sony do for me? Probably ask me to pay some huge fee plus shipping or tell me there's nothing they can do. What if they can't fix my PS3, I have a 60GB launch model, and I certainly wouldnt want them to send me back a watered down 40GB or 80GB model.

So basically I dont think Sony fanboys should say anything about RROD cause M$ have been awesome about it.

Yeah because the PSOne and PSTwos never failed consistantly, and Sony gave you free replacements. THe RROD arguement is mute.

Big blow to Sony, and since the only two games left are God of War 3 and MGS4 (for me anyways) once MGS4 gets ported I'll be one happy panda.

Oh. But I think we should. I also owned many PSones and PS2s. The PSX at least gained life if you turned it on its side or upside down. The PS2's DRE's were a laser misalignment that could be fixed by normal people by opening it up. The 360's errors however are from a FRIED MALFUCTIONING GPU which can NOT be fixed by regular people. Though I can fault Sony's very first Playstation release since that was so bad the laser itself would melt... But in all honesty, the Playstation lineup has never been as bad as the 360 in overall failure ratio of the system.

And those 2.40 firmwares. Sony admitted fault and is replacing every one of them that bricked free of charge.

Crap.

What am I gonna do now? I can't enjoy FFXIII now that it's on the 360.

It was only going to be fun if it was PS3 exclusive.

Or perhaps now I'll enjoy it more since it's on the 360. It means Sony is dead, right? They'll be out of the gaming business by the end of August. Right?

Or perhaps the versions will be equal - the 360 will have achievements and multiple discs, and the PS3 version will have "trophies" and a large HDD install.

god damn. You could swear someone just came into every PS3 owners house and raped their mother and killed their father with this announcement. Holy shit you fanboys are crazy.

Take gears of war, halo, and mass effect or whatever games you want from xbox. I couldn't give a bigger shit. I really dont care. You guys are fu.ckin nuts for reals.
Piracy hasn't killed PC gaming, but it sure gimped the hell out of it. The PC gaming market is on a huge downturn compared to just five years ago.
But it hasn't killed the 360. Nor did it kill, for instance, the PS2. So, moot point.

But when the mod is just a firmware update on the DVD drive itself which means nothing extra is placed in there.
Wrong. They can remotely poll that firmware and confirm that it hasn't been altered. People HAVE gotten banned using DVD firmware mods.

Half hour? More like 15 minutes.
Oh okay then.

Well, in case you didn't here, now 360 users can copy any game in it's entirety to the HD and play off that, with the disc in the drive only to serve as authentication that the user owns the game. Given the choice between that, and the way installs work on PS3, I much prefer the 360's method.

I have access to both. I play on both. And I enjoy both. But you got to face facts that the 360 is nowhere near reliable enough to make it your only console.
But millions of people DO make it their only console. So, yeah.

REAL BROKE is something that can't be fixed by normal people. But the PS2 was easily fixed by regular people who could read some instructions and had some time.

Should be interesting since it was supposedly using the fabled "White Engine" tailored specifically for PS3.

I'm not so sure you can, boy!

I hear the PS3 version displays at 640p.

Sharpen your blades, Sony fans.

I'm fucking kidding, for those of you with no sense of humor.

Sweet. Capcom just announced Phoenix Wright: Trials of Pure ownage for the 360. EXCLUSIVELY. Apollo Justice: I wish I was good as Phoenix will hit the Wii later this year.

I'm bored and this fake

I don't know why this shocks anyone.

The PS3 does NOT have the market that the PS2 had....not even close. It cannot support an exclusive as expensive as Final Fantasy.

Haven't people noticed that EVERY exclusive that isn't owned outright by Sony has gone multi-plat? The only exception is Metal Gear and I guarantee that is only due to cash transaction, and only for a limited time (go ahead and cry fanboys).

The same thing applies to the 360's games. If Microsoft doesn't OWN it, then it's going to wind up on the PS3 some day. Mass Effect, Bioshock, Lost Planet, Oblivion, etc. The only exception here is some early 360 games, when the PS3 base was too small for dev's to overcome the complexity to make the port profitable (Dead Rising, Saints Row, etc).

In all likelihood Microsoft hasn't paid Square a dime to get the game. If anything, they cut a small check to get the Square President to do the dog and pony at the conference.

This isn't some 'backstabbing' either. Putting FF 13 on the PS3, exclusive, would be the death of Square.....the company would be OVER. End of story, that's all she wrote. They are fighting for survival here.

The engine was renamed "Crystal Tools" quite some time ago, back when they announced that it also runs on 360 and PC. It's going to be used to power a future MMO that will be on all three of those platforms.

There is also an implementation of it for Wii, apparently.

Right on brotha

Why do people do the marketing jobs for these console makers?

The reality of it is, you are not Sony or Microsoft's PR. You are worthless to them beyond your money.

If your favorite series is no longer exclusive, that means more people will potentially buy it, which means it will live to see another day.
Excuse me? How is Square fighting for survival exactly?
I think it's exaggerating to say that they're on the brink of death, but they have had some financial problems lately. Not exactly huge losses, but much lower profits, as far as I know.
Excuse me? How is Square fighting for survival exactly?
They're still in debt from poor sales of "Rad Racer," evidently.
