I discovered a weird glitch at my local Best Buy in Riverdale Ut. Last week I pre-ordered a copy of Uncharted 2 with the pre-order box that comes with a code inside for gold weapons in the multiplayer mode that is active once the game is released. The pre-order was supposed to be $5 as usual, however after the cashier rang up my reward zone card the pre-order came up as free and I happily walked out with an Uncharted 2 gold weapons code at no cost.
Tonight I figured I would try my luck again and I went for the Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time pre-order box which includes a code for an "Exlusive Power Package" including a weapon skin, extra hit points, and the cryo-mine glove. Once again the pre-order rang up as $5 but as soon as the cashier scanned my rewardzone card it rang up as 0.00 and again I walked out with a a receipt and a pre-order box with code.
I am not sure why this is happening but free DLC is always alright in my book. I don't really care if I actually pick up the game upon release or not as I usually wait for prices to drop way lower than $60 and the pre-order cost me nothing. I am not sure if its the reward zone card itself, the fact that I am in the reward zone gamers club, or the fact that I am a premier silver member. However one thing I am sure of is that the sleuths on CAG with figure it out and "crack the code" in a short time. Then you can all go forth and grab them shits.

*update* September 23: Ok so I may have omitted certain details in my original post. The first purchase I made was actually 2 pre-orders of Uncharted. The second time I tried, I picked up a pre-order of Uncharted and a pre-order of Ratchet. My reasoning was that I did not want to invite the "hoarder" comments that I wrought upon myself in the penny guide thread for snatching up multiple penny guides at once back in the day. The common link the game seems to have over the dozens of comments is that you can only get two pre-orders and one of them must be Uncharted for the "glitch" to work and give you two free pre-orders. As I knew would happen, CAGs cracked the code once again. Well done.

Here is a good list of pre-order bonuses thanks to Jodou:

Here's the compiled list of pre-order bonuses:

Brutal Legend - LP sleeve to hold your game and sports some attractive artwork on the inside cover.

Halo 3: ODST - Unlock Sgt. Avery Johnson for play in the new Firefight mode.

Ratchet & Clank: A Crack In Time - Unlock the Cryo-Mine glove exclusive weapon skin that yields extra hit points when equipped.

Tekken 6 - Laser cell and tattooed sleeve.

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves - Unlock gold-plated versions of the Beretta and AK-47 for multi-player.

*update Oct 13* Now that Uncharted 2 has been released, many stores have pulled their remaining stock of pre-order boxes from the shelves. It has now become YMMV as to whether you will find out some left over pre-order boxes at your local Best Buy. Apparently if you can find them the deal still works.

One of the pre orders HAS to be Uncharted 2. I tried yesterday with 2 brutal legends and it didn't work either.

Walked up to the cashier with u2+r&c, and u2+t6. I said I wanted them rung up in separate transactions and she didn't blink an eye. Came out to 10.98, so I said 'You're supposed to total it, there's a discount'. Rang up to 0, and she did it twice in a row, no problem.

She did give me a funny look and said 'You want to keep the boxes?'...

There are 2 or 3 u2 cases left at the canoga park CA location.

I wanted the r&c and t6 stuff, but don't care about the u2 stuff. If it's just codes I may give them away later.

Edit: Never even entered my RZ number.
NYC 5 ave. It works..I got UC2 and Ratchet 2 for $0.
There are a lot left.

I just got this because it's free and everyone was talking about it.

But now I have a question, Why do people want to return the pre-order? It was free, you get back $0.
That and some of us don't really need the game the day it ships but would like the PO bonuses. Of course I'm sure there's a few people who have other plans for these codes as well...

Just tried this like 10 minutes ago, went in and got R&C and Uncharted 2, box came up and she hit ok and came out to $0.00 She kinda did a double take there.

Anyways, I'm wondering whats going to happen when I don't show up, will they credit my account $10 or something?

I always thought it was like lay-away where if you don't pick it up, you don't get your $$ back. Would be kindda hard to give people $10 credit who paid in cash and didn't leave any info. But hey, who knows.
Yesterday, I tried getting UC2 preorder + PS3 Rock Revolution ($4.99), but the combination only discounted the preorder item to $0.00 and kept the $4.99 charge for the PS3 RR game. Anyone had better luck on something similar?
From the BB website:

when you pre-order select upcoming games

Get fired up for the release of some of the year's biggest games with this special offer.

Just pre-order one of eight highly anticipated titles listed below — including Modern Warfare 2, DJ Hero, and more — and when you do,
you can save $10 instantly on any other game priced $29.99 or more.

Rock Rev @ $5 doesn't qualify.
I did it with Uncharted 2 and Dragon Age. I'm not sure if i've got bad luck, but I got an empty box with DA.
I don't think there is suppose to be a pre-order bonus for that DA game.

It's funny how it works on preorders themselves haha. I suppose the system checks the prices of the games when it releases.

Cant use your personal links here. Take that elsewhere. You're taking money out of Cheapy's pockets if someone buys something after going through your link.

This whole thread is confusing. So if I get Uncharted 2 pre-order and a 29.99 or higher game, will the game be 10 dollars less and the pre-order also free?
Preorders are suppose to cost $5, that's why.
The POs were free! If you don't pick up the games, nothing happens..so why are people returning or cancelling?

Can someone answer this question?
Why return or cancel the POs for UC2 and Ratchet 2 if you got them for free?

I believe there is no reason to cancel or return.
Thank you

That's what I'm wondering as that's the best part of this glitch if it works. Nobody is going to get the game any cheaper with a $0 preorder, but if I can get $10 off any game $29.99 and up without paying for the pre-order, then we're talking!

Readthepost, People who wanted to return earlier on the thread is because they got charged for the full $5!!!.. not free. Most likely, because they didn't pair it up with U2.

I agree, the OP needs to be updated or someone needs to start a new thread with factual statements. Be sure to include my ever so amazing FAQ, too!

No the $29.99 game will be $19.99 and UC2 will be $5.

Thank you....now I can relax.
No the $29.99 game will be $19.99 and UC2 will be $5.
Well if that's the case there's no glitch with that combo. That's how it's intended to be done. SO I guess this is just a glitch if you get Uncharted PO and another PO w/o having to pay the 5 down for each w/bonus content.

The easiest way to look at it is this:

You pre-order Uncharted 2 and buy any other game, you get Uncharted 2 for free, and $5 off the game.

If you pre-order Uncharted 2 and also pre-order another game, both pre-orders are free ($5 off each).

Pre-ordering Uncharted 2 automatically triggers $10 off your purchase.

So just to clarify, somebody has actually gone to the register with the Uncharted pre-order, another pre-order, and a $29.99 game and didn't get charged for either pre-order? The way I see it there are three possible prices that they would be charged:

$19.99+ tax (2 free pre-orders - $10 promo)
$24.99+ tax (1 free pre-order - $10 promo)
$29.99+ tax (no free pre-orders - $10 promo)

I know the last one is how it's supposed to work but it doesn't sound like anbody has tried it yet. I will be happy to try myself I just won't make it by there until tomorrow night.

If you get Uncharted PO and another game 29.99 or higher, the 10 dollars should be taken off the 29.99 or higher game. Best Buy has ran this offer a couple of times the past couple of months and all the times I did it I always got the 10 off the game. If you are in fact getting 5 off the PO and just 5 off the game, that doesn't sound right. That's actually worse, because you can cancel the pre-order later and get your 5 back, while still retaining the 10 off the game you bought. The way you show it you can't get your 5 back from the PO, since it shows zero and you only got 5 off the 29.99 or higher game. 5 off the PO and 5 off the game isn't how the computer triggers this deal, at least not the last 2 times they ran it.

*******************************************
Promo is $10 off... THAT'S IT. thx to whoever posted what the BBY site says. That's what I been saying.

You get $10 off if you pre-order (from select games) and add another pre-order or game $29.99+. So:

1 SELECT pre-order alone = $5.00 (NO DISCOUNT. DOES NOT COMPLETE T&C)
2 SELECT pre-orders = $10.00 - $10.00 promo = you pay $0.00
1 SELECT pre-order and QUALIFYING game (ie: $29.99) = $34.99 - $10.00 promo = you pay $24.99

And ppl will return the Pre-orders that didn't ring up free to try and do it again correctly.

And BBY will not credit you anything if you don't pay anything.
************************************************

People are making this deal harder than it is.

Bottom line, if you want free preorder bonuses, you have to get 2 PREORDERS, at least one of them being UNCHARTED 2.

If you don't meet both requirements, you will have to pay!

Ok, just walked out of Best Buy with Uncharted PO and Ratchet n Clank without paying anything. I asked the cashier to ring it up again cuz i wanted to see the promo they're having. It says Pre-order uncharted and get $5 off any games. The funny thing is the girl was like ok when the game comes out just go to customer serv. and I'll keep these(boxes).. I guess she don't know anything about preorders.

Only 1 person has posted so far that they were able to get the U2 pre-order for free and $5 off a game that was under $30.

Another CAG posted that the U2 pre-order purchased along with Rock Revolution only took off the cost of the pre-order - not the game.

So, I do not think this is as easy as saying "Pre-order U2 and get $5 off any purchase." For some reason if you pre-order two games they both cancel out.

If someone wants to try it with at $20 game to confirm post #14 feel free, but as of right now it doesn't appear that it would work.

If you pre-order U2 and buy a game that is $29.99 or higher the $10 will come off the $29.99 game and you still pay the $5 for the pre-order.

As of right now, it seems like the only benefit is to get the pre-order bonuses without spending any cash up front.
I don't think there is suppose to be a pre-order bonus for that DA game.

The box stated that it'd come with 'Dragon Armor' for both DA:O and ME2.

With the Gamer's Club coupon for this month I tried to do this: Purchase Ready 2 Rumble for the Wii which is $29.99 and High School Musical 3 for PS2 which is $19.99. The coupon clearly states $20 of these games, it has a list of games the coupon is good for and these are on there. So I grabbed Uncharted 2 PO thinking I would get $20 off each of the Wii and PS2 game and then another $10 off Ready 2 Rumble because of the preorder deal. The cashier girl was not understaning so called Tracy the "customer service specialist." That was a joke. She tried ringing it up but said it was $26.xx total and I explained to her what the coupon said and what the preorder deal was. Tried again and it wouldn't go, I explained to her again and she's like no you only get $20 off. She said I could have printed off another coupon so I said just scan that one twice. She refused to do so. Fed up I just left. Some "customer service specialist." This all tooke about ten minutes.

Okay, so if we got a preorder game (shouldn't matter which one, unless you're trying to get 2 preorders for free with Uncharted) and another game for $10 off, what happens if we return the preorder? Do we get our $5 back? Will they not allow it without taking the $10 discount back?

If we just let the preorder expire does the $5 get credited back to us (assuming you used a credit card)?

If the preorder expires (usually after 5 days of release date), you will need to go back to the BestBuy with your receipt to get get back the $5 credit on your card. Nothing will be automatic, unfortunately.

This guy has it right. Its pretty simple.

And I was able to easily cancel my previous preorder for DragonAge by going to customer service.

Okay... So I just picked up U2 and RnC pre-orders for free. After the cashier stopped freaking out I asked her what the promo was, she said it was $10 off and it came from U2. Plain and simple, what appears to be happening is that the system they use to handle pre-orders must consider the $5 pre-pay as part of the full price, and not two seperate purchases. This way, when U2's promo is checking for a game of 29.99 or more, it sees RnC or whatever other title you choose marked as 59.99 not the $5 pre order cost. It then either deducts $10 from the total purchase, not from a particular item or their system now believes in selling games with a negative cost negating the other $5... In which case I would love a list of what all games have negative costs right now :p

>Edit. It was the BestBuy at the Strip in North Canton, Ohio btw.

NP, looks like the images didn't make it in, though. NBD unless you want to add them manually.

I just got mine. I saw the screen behind the cashier and it said something like "Some items in this order are eligible for a discount. Would you like to apply the Uncharted 2 Promotion?"

The Dragon Age preorder does not come with codes, they are in the actual box of the game.
I didn't even have to give them my RewardZone card. As soon as the cashier scanned both items, a popup came up that asked to apply the discount. They clicked to confirm and dropped the price to zero. I even had the RewardZone card in my hand, but they went ahead and did the transaction before scanning. Seems like it could be automatic, depending on the cashier.

Got Uncharted 2 and Tekken 6.
exactly my experience & same games as well.

can i actually pick up tekken6 pre-order for 54.99, or will they see i didnt put anything down & charge full price? only thing on receipt is 2 pre-orders for 0.00$.

Done it twice now and got the Ratchet & Clank and the Brutal Legend one, I'm going to go back for the Dragon Age and Tekken 6 bonuses and that's it unless they bring in more bonuses.

Ah. Good to know.

Thanks.

Didn't work for me at the Dallas Best Buy (on Hwy 75). Brought Uncharted 2 and R&C2 to the counter, handed her my Reward Zone card, then Uncharted 2, then R&C2. She hit total, and it rang up $10.83. I asked her about the $10 off a game when you by U2, she said it only works with games, not preorders. I said nevermind and left. Oh well.

Did I do something wrong?

Got U2 and R&C - no problem. I did have to reassure the cashier that I wasn't walking out of the store with two actual PS3 games, though :p
