Just finished UC 1 two days ago, and started UC 2. The 2nd game is leaps and bounds better than the first one in every aspect of the game. The graphic is exponentially better, gameplay, story, humor, locations etc.
UC2 is leaps and bounds better. First was pretty early in console life and was forced to use dumb six axis features. Among Thieves plays ditches those. It plays a bit better and has a better story (and final boss isn't quick time events).
uncharted 1 was amazing for it's time in this console generation.

uncharted 2 is a damn masterpiece.

uncharted 3 is fantastic, but not quite Uncharted 2.

So, to summarize, if I don't care much about a bunch of multiplayer extras, i don't need to bother with the GOTY edition of UC3? I'm about halfway through single player of UC2 so i haven't tried any of the multiplayer yet, but i can probably live without it at this price.

Witcher 2 is really, really tempting to me, from all the glowing reviews its gotten. Seems like it will drop more though.

If you don't care about multiplayer, you're fine with the regular UC3.

It wasn't a bad game, but just a really disappointing one. More puzzles than action, and a whole lot of you doing nothing but walking from one point to the next while you take in the scenery. It's a beautiful game, I just wish it was more fleshed out.

As I'm getting older, those things don't necessarily sound like negatives to me :)

Witcher has some major flaws imo. Just a friendly heads up. The map and quest locations are pretty broken. You cant jump or step over anything or drop down off ledges so theres a lot of needless backtracking. And it takes about 5 steps to make a potion. Kinda cool at first and then extremely irritating. Plus Ch. 2 town is set up horribly (also where the crappy map comes into play.)

Also, combat is decent but doesnt feel fantastic or anything. It has a great story but it might be less annoying to just watch that on youtube...lol thats what i did with alan wake because i found the gameplay so awful in that one.

Wait. What? You found Alan Wake aweful?

I did also. I was pretty bored with it. I'll admit I liked it at first but lost interest a couple hours in.

Same here. Really tried to like it but just no fun for me at all. Always suprises me how many folks say they love it.

That was around my price point for The Witcher 2. :) Had a $5 coupon about to expire so got it for $14 and some change.

This.

Calinks. You need to start UC2 right away. I had it for 2 years now, and just unwrapped it yesterday. The game is just simply amazing. I can't believe I was playing all of these other mediocre games before this gem. What a fantastic game Uncharted 2!
As I'm getting older, those things don't necessarily sound like negatives to me :)

Got U3. Still need to play 2
One review I read said all the shootouts in U3 can be done in stealth or guns blazing. I love stealth like MGS and Deus Ex, so this sold me on the game. U2 had a lot of enemy waves after enemy waves that I got tired of.

Anyone who's played both and knows what I mean, any comments?

Picked it up for my brother. I've played through it already, it's incredible.

I felt like any game that has managed to have three iterations this generation has worked this way:

First game - Awesome because its new and brings new ideas, new world

Second game - The devs outdo themselves and make a game better than 1 in every way. Polished game

Third game - Technically a good game but too much of the same thing, novelty gone

I've felt this way with Mass Effect, Uncharted, COD4-MW2-MW3, a few others I can't remember right now.

I'll add the Assassin's Creed franchise to this list.

I'd actually say that could be done twice.

AC - Nice original idea, played well, some flaws, but overall good

AC2 - Huge leap forward, added great things and had one of my (personal) favorite stories in games lately

AC:B - Improved on 2(already a huge improvement on 1), slight step back in story

AC:R - Really just tied up the loose ends and didn't even feel needed.

I really hope that AC3 is as good as AC2 or AC:B

Has anyone ever been conflicted about buying a game on sale? I mean I want to buy The Darkness 2 because it's so cheap, but I have absolutely ZERO interest in ever playing it, none, what should I do? lol

Buy it and never play it obviously.

Uhhh...buy it!

All joking aside, you may have to ask yourself if you've become a collector. (And stop calling those 50-150 games a "backlog")

Yeah. :( That backlog is mighty huge, ah well, I bought it. Thanks CAG!

Seriously, this was maybe the game I had the most FUN with this year. The game is not super long (played through twice) but it is just such a fun game. I love the cell-shade look also (I wish more games did this) and the story is actually not that bad.

Thanks for the info - that's really helpful to know. I ended up not getting Witcher this time, but maybe when it's much cheaper I will. (though, for the record, Alan Wake was one of my fav games, though i know what you mean about gameplay. Hope you saw the metal concert level on youtube -- that was one of the best single moments in gaming of recent years)

Did get UC3 and Darkness2

Talk about a lot of personal opinion. The witcher 2 is fantastic. A lot of backtracking? The world in the witcher isn't huge to start off so the backtracking isn't that bad. 5 steps is about accurate though but you make it sound like its a huge deal. Open quick menu, meditate, click on alchemy, select recipe, click create potion, confirm. All done in about 15 seconds.

Theres a video even showing the proccess.

The map and quest markers are acceptable. Sure they don't spell everything out for you or show you exactly where to go like in Da2 but they give you a general idea of where and what you need to do. This game doesn't need to hold your hand. The zones for each area are not huge like skyrim. Since the Witcher 2 is a story driven game first and foremost and while there are extra things to do the areas are about as big as you'd expect them to be in this type of rpg. Big enough to feel satisfying and not completely linear but not big enough where you find yourself getting tired of wandering around. Also the combat system for me was enjoyable, even before the enhancements were added. The witcher 2 is a fantastic RPG with 2 seperate branching storylines. If you play through it once you'll miss out on good chunk of story.

Ninja Gaiden 3 for $13 is tempting just for completion sake, but something tells me I'll see it for $10 sooner then later. Plus the demo was just awful. So awful.

KoA for 15$ is a steal such a beautiful gameee i played it more than games like skyrim lol. I bought it when it was full price . Def reccomend it

Ninja Gaiden 3 is just an aweful game. Stay away. You've been warned.

Kingdom of Amalur is a fantastic game. It has a ton of replayability. I hardly ever play a game twice since I have such a huge backlog of games, but I will be replaying KOA with a different build (Might/Sorcery the first time, and Finesse and Sorcery the 2nd time around). Was able to pick it up new for $10 with Best Buy Reward Zone. That's the best deal for me this year for far.

Yep. I have passed on Ninja Gaiden 3 4 times now, I am always tempted but remember the demo I played and that from what I heard things get much worse, so yeah, I can't, but I will probably have a few more struggles.

Did new Gears of War 3 games come with anything special (like DLC) that would make buying it from Gamefly better than buying a used copy from Amazon, which is right around the same price?

Nope. Nothing worth noting.

I'd be all over R&C:AF1 had PSN+ not given it to me for free. However, gotta say, even as a long-time Ratchet fan, I had trouble relinquishing control of the camera -- i inadvertently switched my weapon about 1,000 times using the right stick to instinctively try and shift the camera view.

Hoping for R&C Collection to go on sale somewhere.
^Thanks. I'll wait a little longer. Not a huge Gears fan at all, but would like to play through 3 once.
Gears 3 was awesome bro!!

If you got the money, pick it up!!

Some retailers had DLC cards in the game (i think walmart did)...

But all the DLC cards for retailers were just codes for cosmetics for weapons. It doesn't effect gameplay in anyway.

Thats a almost perfect price for gears.

If your on the fence about ninja gaiden, this price is fair. fuck that game. Just beat it and then flip to bb or gs. Youll get your money's worth but if its anything like my playthrough your in for one FRUSTRATING time.

Mine came with stickers. Pretty cool if you like ... stickers.

Very tempted by KOA:R, but won't get around to playing it for months and it seems like a certainty that it'll be on sale for $10 or so by Christmas... Anyone disagree?
