System Watch:

Some GameRushes have PS3's on their incoming shipping reports as arriving on Tuesday, December 5th. One of the local stores that actually received Wii's will receive 1 (One) PS3 ($600 Version) tomorrow. No firm reports on when the next shipment of Wii's will arrive.

Random News:

In a really strange turn of events, GameRush actually pulled a lot of PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube games from Previously Played status and put them back up on the wall to rent. There are still plenty of used games for sale, but I thought this was an interesting move on Blockbuster's part.

Geez - people are *really* on edge here recently, what's up? I've gotten heat on just about every post I've made the last few days :D. Think I'll lay low for a while (after this post).

My point about the other Katamari's was that you pointed out something I hadn't really noticed - it was more of a "Holy crap, you're right!" (that they don't have the PS2 Katamari's) than a "You're right about this but wrong about that" (which seems to be how you took it).

I even agreed that my store doesn't have the PSP one now - just that they DID get it in originally (and maybe one other copy besides my preorder - so it is no surprise there are little to no copies left at any location - though most GR seem to get 2-3 X as many games as mine does). I'm sure all your stores got it in at first, as my store gets the leftovers usually. 'tis just a popular title, is all.

Going to play Clubhouse Games now (which they only got ONE of)...

Hope you didn't think I was giving you heat about the price of Death Jr. I was just letting you know that the prices didn't go into effect until Sunday and I didn't know if you had just seen a used copy of it before that.

That's another that is cheaper to purchase new. Picked it up new at GR a few weeks back for $20. And one of the best PSP games so far. =D

For what it's worth, I've seen all the Katamari game new at my local GR over the past year or so.

There's a ton of games like this that I noticed... Ys, almost every 360 game, a ton of games where the used product was cheaper than the used one.

It's weird, my friend could have saved a few bucks getting used copies of Far Cry, Burnout, and Full Auto but they were all $15 - $20 more expensive for the used ones.

Probably...but I wasn't looking for them since I don't have a 360. I've seen pretty much every other price reduced game at every Gamerush I've been to, so it's probably a safe bet that you can find the 360 games if you stop at a few Gamerushes. I had really good luck at the Gamerush stores in Fishers (I think there are 2 or 3 in that area?) during the summer clearance sale. I went to them a few weeks after the sale started...maybe even a month after...and they had NONE of the clearance games marked. I had my list printed off CAG and I found pretty much everything I wanted, all marked at full price still, and all rang up on clearance, or course. The cashier's eyes got pretty big when I walked out of there with a mountain of games for under $100. I got two MC Groovz bundles there for $8.75 each, still marked at $50 even though they'd received 3 priced reductions over the last year or so. I also had good luck in Geist during the summer.

Went to GR last night and saw the Wii promotional boxes, etc. The manager said preorders for everything next week but I don't think he really knows for sure.
 
I called my GR and asked about PS3, they said no preorders until they get their allocation numbers. They offered for me to come in and sign up on their call list. I'm already #2. I asked how the list worked. He said that if they were to get 4 PS3's, they will call the first 4 on the list and give them X amount of time to come in and preorder, once time frame passes, if all haven't been preordered, they call the next number. So if GR does get some, that pretty much guarantees that I'll get one too! Thats if the employees don't F'up. :whistle2:?

They know nothing at my GR. They did, however, have Battalion Wars and Fire Emblem correctly priced yesterday. They seem to be on top of price drops more than usual. And the manager agreed with me that getting the Wii promotional material was a "good sign". But other than that, nada...
 
I called my GR today, and they told me that SC:DA isn't coming out until the 27th. If this turns out being true, I won't be too happy :bomb:

Hopefully tomorrow. I've been waiting for this game for a while, and they SHOULD have gotten it in today.

Well thats pretty much what my GR told me, so at least they seem to be saying the same thing throughtout the company. I am #2 on my GR list, behind a store employee, so I am hoping for at least 2 of the premium per store.

We're just quietly waiting for PS3/Wii preorder info now. They are really pushing it now. I just realized we are only a month away from these things! I really hope they don't do a first come first served day of release thing :cry:. Though GR is overlooked by many gamers, I've seen several people asking about PS3 preorders in the store so I wouldn't be surprised to see campers if they do it that way (sell their PS2 allotment at 10am on the 17th).
 
Damn oh well. Just wondered cause the Gamestop deal stoped for extra trade in credit. I thought it was going till the 20th i guess not.

And yeah it must be ymmv on the extra 5 for each 3 games cause they took it off the site just recently.

I called my gamerush, and they still haven't gotten their game shipment in, so I'm doubting they will get Splinter Cell in (3:20 west coast time)

Anyone's GR get SC:DA in? I'm hoping my store just has a late shipment :)

Nope I called my today at 4pm and they did not recieve it.
 
Yay! Katamari down to $20 new. I picked it up, but I'm going to see how many pre-played copies are at my local EB. If there are enough, I'll return it and wait for the buy 2 used, get 3rd free deal that should be coming up 4th quarter.

I haven't been doing too much trading lately so I haven't been asking for trade prices too much. I'll try to start getting some values next week.
 
Sorry if posted earlier but no time to read through all pages. GR said Prey was $60. Is that just in their computer, are the price drops temporary, or is it YMMV?

It was over the phone; I think it was that way in the database. But I did call another and though they didn't have any they said it was $40.

That said, provided they're in good condition, I'm getting three titles from EB B2G1 sale on used games. Saves me $20 over GR markdowns and $30 over TRU B2G1 sale on new games.
 
I may have just had a good experience with GR on the phone. It was a guy who doesn't like me much since he knows I flip games there.

Asked if Contact was in, since it was supposed to be out today and I had preordered. Took a while to check, said he was sorry it wasn't in. Then I think (couldn't really hear very well) he said he would be giving me a $5 credit on my account since it wasn't in on time, and he would be having his manager call me as soon as they were in. This was all unprompted.

So... I don't know what this means, but it's nice to be treated in such a manner after months of crap.

Holy fuck! If they did that for me every time a game was late during the last 2 years I'd have enough for a PS3 (or at least a Wii anyways) :rofl:.

I'm going to go pick up my EB preorder for Contact and then stop by GR on the way home. I don't expect to see it there or get a credit like this, but I might as well make my 4x weekly request about PS3/Wii preorder info.
 
whats the chances that blockbusters still have those $10 360 sports titles? i just went to the closest one and they only had 2 360 games in stock, chrome hounds and madden 2007. im thinking of picking them $10 games and using for the fye deal.

I can't really speak for regular BBs, as I only go into GRs, but the Game Rush's I hit have loads of 360 titles.

Well, nothing yet.

I did see that they finally had Tales of the Abyss in. I assumed since they never got Legendia, that, after it didn't come in the week of release, that they wouldn't get Abyss either. So I just got it at EB, oh well. They also had Bully, and even Family Guy for both PS2 and PSP. But no Contact of course...

But they are really pushing it for preorders - we're getting down to the wire here. I'm starting to get worried that they are just going to sell them when they get them. Hopefully they stick to the call list at least.

I'd honestly be surprised if Sony even allots them any... with only such a limited number in the US, if I was Sony, I'd give Gamerush's allotment to a store that does more business.

I think, at the most, each GR is going to get like 1 system, if they get it at all.

Does it REALLY matter to Sony though? A PS3 sold at GR is the same as a PS3 sold at Best Buy

New X360 games for $20 in GR credit isn't too bad ;)

And I think Sony wants to keep BB happy, as they will be buying Blu-Ray and HD-DVD movies in the future. But if Sony shafts them on saying they will be getting 0 PS3s, BB could turn around and decide they will just rent out HD-DVD movies, and ignore Blu-Ray.

I started editing the Wiki yesterday. I do most of my trading at GR so I will update anything new I come across.

Blockbuster can't really decide what format to carry...if they go with HD-DVD and it doesn't catch on but Blu-Ray does, they'd drive themselves out of business. No, Blockbuster will carry whatever format ends up winning the format wars, and they'll probably sign an exclusive deal with whoever seems to be winning early on. I remember they were a big supporter of DVD as soon as the PS2 shipped with a DVD drive. They stocked the DVD movies in the video game section at first, and then eventually moved them into the movies section, slowly getting rid of the VHS. I think we'll probably see this again with Blu-Ray, a few Blu-Ray movies for rent in with the PS3 games and possibly (but less likely) some HD-DVD movies for rent in the Xbox 360 section. If I remember correctly, Blockbuster was a year or so late on jumping on the DVD bandwagon. It seemed like I had my first DVD player forever before they started renting and selling the discs. I don't remember them ever selling the competing DivX discs though.
 
Stopped today to change my SC preorder to Forza 2. They had on the board the trade-in values $35 for NBA2K7 and $32 for Just Cause.
