System Watch:

Some GameRushes have PS3's on their incoming shipping reports as arriving on Tuesday, December 5th. One of the local stores that actually received Wii's will receive 1 (One) PS3 ($600 Version) tomorrow. No firm reports on when the next shipment of Wii's will arrive.

Random News:

In a really strange turn of events, GameRush actually pulled a lot of PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube games from Previously Played status and put them back up on the wall to rent. There are still plenty of used games for sale, but I thought this was an interesting move on Blockbuster's part.

Older News:

Random Tip
FIFA 2007 for the Xbox 360 is currently listed at $40 new ($60 everywhere else). If you pre-order it and pay for it in full now, you should be able to pick it up when it releases and save yourself $20.
Well, after all this GR doomsday talk, I don't have to worry about it anymore. Last night I went to return a couple movies abd noticed they had 10 pink DS lites. Soo, i bought 3 and used up the last of my GR credit. Already sold them last night on ebay. :) I may still do a few more trades if i can find the High Value games, but I will be dumping the credit ASAP. Like i said before, i don't think they are going away anytime soon, but i have been wrong before,
Wow are DS Lites STILL that scarce?
Wow are DS Lites STILL that scarce?
Looks like most places they are trickling in. The black ones are worth more, but there prices are dropping as well. I ended up making like $10 over the store price after fees/shipping but it didn't cost me store price. :) With the GR credit, I figure it cost me around $55 out of pocket for each DS.

did your GR just get these ds lites in recently?

i've been checking over the past few weeks and they haven't had any =\

i'd love to use my credit to get one there, esp. since no other b&m stores around have them in anymore!

Yeah they said they just got them in yesterday. Though i have noticed my TRU and Target both recently had some DS lites in various colors.
Wait, did they actually have Elebits in stock?? Mine never even had it on order, last time I checked. But it is worth looking again (as I too want to get some more $5 goodness). I can then return my EB copy. My store DOES actually have an Excite Truck though - whoa, first time my store ever had something that someone else's didn't .

Was Lethal Alliance for PSP really that bad? I was going to pick that up in the future (it is on my "look for on clearance" list). Is it $5 good, or maybe $10 good, even? No way I'm paying MSRP for it, even in trade credit. Also, would you say Cars better than Carbon for the Wii? I hope so ;).
They had one copy of Elebits, which I bought -- and my wife played last night while I watched.

I'd say Lethal Alliance is $10 good. My review of the PSP one is here: http://psp.gamespy.com/playstation-portable/star-wars-lethal-alliance/751880p1.html

I would say Cars is better than Carbon on Wii, though it's pretty close. The thing about NFS Carbon on Wii is everything's good EXCEPT the controls -- making it the worst version. Cars has much better controls, but also sacrifices speed in the process. I'd say it's pretty even with other platform versions.

What's up with GR? I just got back from GR, and they wouldn't let me use my valuecard (balance of $220) to buy a ds lite. They told the valuecard is only use for renting movies/games & buying foods/games/dvd. I did what a cagers told me to do, trade the games for store credit, and put the credit into a valuecard. Am I'm doing something wrong?

So if anyone interested, the GR at manhattan beach has like 8 ds lite in stock.

edit
nevermind. I figure it out. So I have to buy giftcards using my valuecard.
Could I buy a giftcards from a regular BB store? I don't feel like driving 20 miles to my nearest GR to buy a GC.

Thanks

No, your GR was just being a bitch. Some of them don't let you use store credit for hardware, which is a rule they make up on their own.

That's BS. I just bought 3 of them last night with 4 Value Cards. You should be able to use your Value Cards for ANYTHING in the store. I think the only difference between a Value Card and a gift card is the Value Card can be reloaded.

But, if you do go to get gift cards, you should still be able to get the buy $50 gift card get a $5 card free. I'm pretty sure this promo doesn't end til the end of the month. That way you can go back to your GR and stick it to them with an extra $20 in gift cards.

I don't recall if I ever posted it here, but Monster Rancher Evo still gets $24 as of Tuesday.

Hmmm... I could have bought Flatout at the same store (for $8). I assumed it was down to dirt squat now, but I guess I should ask. Actually, I got a bit screwed on Flatout 2 as I thought I would get $12 + $5. It turns out it sells for $12.99 used so it wouldn't bump up. So I only got $12 for my $8 investment. :bomb:. Considering that I turned cash into GR credit it feels like I lost even though I gained $4 .

Just to verify, here's my actual trades:

PSP - Exit: $15
NDS - Metroid Pinball: $2
Xbox - Flatout 2: $12
PS2 - Samurai Champloo: $24
GC - Spongebob Bikini Bottom: $6

Edit - I updated the wiki with these prices and those from Rictor and ViolentLee. One problem - there isn't a Wii entry in the wiki so I can't put in the Carbon Wii trade-in value. Anyone know how to add a category like that?

I wonder if Gamerush will ever officially bring back the extra $5 a game on trade-ins (I know a few of you lucked out and your stores never got rid of it)? I have around 100 games sitting in my office that I could turn into a 60 gig PS3. I guess I could take a little less and trade them in at EB/GS next time they do the 3/$10 bonus, but my local stores are a pain to trade to. They always try to slip a refurbish fee in there, even if your discs are mint. I actually had some jackass manager tell me he needed to refurbish a brand new game that I had just opened in my car 5 minutes before that. I always keep the games when they say this, but some of them kind of slip it in under their breath or don't tell you at all. Are EB/GS employees trained to try to rip customers off with refurbish fees or what? And if they refurbish their games...why are their used games in such horrible condition most of the time?

I'll take Gamerush over EB/GS any day. The employees are usually clueless when it comes to video games, which is a refreshing change from the EB/GS employees criticizing my purchases and telling me my taste in games sucks. And at Gamerush they don't raise the price of an old game because it's selling for $50 on Ebay.

If I were you, I would definately contact the EB/GS corporate about the refurbish fee. It is ridiculous that they charge you refurbish even though your disc is perfect. It is called bullshit.

Traded in Monster Rancher Evo for $24, Sigma Star Saga (GBA) gets $4.50 - sucks, but eBay isn't any better, and EB only gives $1.50. Didn't trade it in today, but I'll probably drop it off at my local BB next time I'm there.

Picked up a mistagged new Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow for $16.99 (ASM was not happy) and a new e-Reader for $5... thought that was worth something, but apparently I was wrong. Oh well. No Elite Beat Agents at either store, unfortunately.

In a stunning turn of events, the Kirby Squeak Squad I was planning on buying to eBay as I start to empty my value card had actually been sold at some point in the last week or so. Someone else shops there!

Forgot my damn free rental coupons, so I'm going to go back there on Sunday to rent Super Swing Golf and throw down a preorder for FFVI.

Its weird here in the Atlanta market I know of several GR stores which get a good selection of the new games in still. Unfortunatly its tough to find credit builders nowadays.
Its weird here in the Atlanta market I know of several GR stores which get a good selection of the new games in still. Unfortunatly its tough to find credit builders nowadays.
I got all that credit yesterday and nothing to spend it on . They still haven't gotten a single Wii system/acccessory in. They have a total of 5 Wii games. They have about 10-15 DS games, all of which I have. They have about 12 GC games. There's a lot more for Xbox/PS2/360, but nothing I want now (or don't already have in the case of the PS2).

Now they did tell me they got YET ANOTHER shipment of 360 stuff and they have plenty of 360's and accessories in stock. Why in the hell are they getting tons of that crap but nothing for the Wii (or PS3 for that matter)?

By the way, I went to my local BB to do the $50 gift card thing, because I actually need to come up with $250 in donations for my son's preschool (for a stupid auction). I thought instead of embarking on a futile attempt to get local merchants to pony up, I'd just buy BB gift cards, since they run me 40% of cost, then get the bonus cards for myself to recoup some of that. Well, they said that promo ended just after the New Year! Are you people still getting them now? It certainly didn't happen automatically. Also, she had to call another store to see if it was OK if I even bought gift cards using my value card - she got the OK, but still no bonus cards... But now I'm not even sure the cards are active or anything - it seems she just rang them up and handed them to me. I didn't see her do the activation or anything (but maybe that isn't necessary for the $50 denominated ones).
EXIT (PSP) for $15 .. i can get this at BB for $5.
Yes, I believe I pointed that out ;). (on the last page before this one)

I was just in a GR here at the beach (Morro Bay). They had the Extra $5 gift card flyer posted. I made it a point to look at the expiration date and it was the 8th of Jan. They didn't have any of the flyers to take, just one taped up to the counter (otherwise I would have grabbed one).

On another note, I saw a FNR3 PSP used for $24.99. I asked the manager if it was supposed to be on-sale. He went and checked his price sheet that he said goes into effect tomorrow. He said as of tomorrow it will be $14.99. So, $11.75 after the 25% off. He is holding it til tomorrow for me. :)

So, this may be a good day to run out and trade all those high dollar trades before tomorrow.

360 99 Nights - $28.50 (about $17 used at Gamestop)
360 COD 2 - $22 (about $16 at Gamestop)
360 COD 3 - $35
360 GOW - $35
360 FIFA 2006 - $15
360 Tennis - $9
360 Prey - $9
360 COLLEGE HOOPS 06 - $6 (I think, didn't trade)
360 NHL 2k6 - $6 (I think, didn't trade)
360 Saint's Row $35
360 Enchanted Arms - $35
XBOX Driv3r - $1.00
GC Baiten Kaitos - $2 (I think, didn't trade)
PS2 Steambot - $24
PS2 Alterior Iris - $24
PS2 Metal Saga - $27
PS2 Samurai Shamploo - $24

Some Blockbusters I go to will let me buy the giftcards with credit, others won't. The promotional signs state it ends on the 8th and also state cannot use gift cards to buy gift cards.

I picked up a bunch of bonus $5 cards 3 days ago with the $50 get $5 promotion.

Trade-in values:

G.R.A.W. (360) - $22
The Outfit (360) - $15
Perfect Dark Zero: LE (360) - $9 (I didn't trade this in.. STILL)
Tony Hawk's Project 8 (360) - $35
Dead Rising (360) - $35 (Still holding strong. :])
Oblivion CE (360) - $38.50 (Another one still holding strong. :])

Man, it feels good to be trading at GR again. I'm going there today to pick up Viva Pinata, and I'll have enough left over to pick up Phoenix Wright 2 (DS) if they ever get it in, and then I'll have to decide between Lost Planet or Crackdown. Most likely Crackdown.

If anyone in Central Florida is looking for a PS3, the GR in Orange City has 4 left (all 60 GB). I picked one up - $600 in GR credit finally used up.

I ended up getting both my Wii and my PS3 via GR credit, so the last few summers of trading have finally paid off! Thank you GR.

Tons of reprices, 177 on pre-owned games at my store, alone. Most of it is not really note worthy, like Silpheed (PS2) dropping 3 dollars. However all the EA price drops noted in another thread a represented. With the suprise of Godfather for 360 dropping to $34.99 used. I work on Monday, so if no one has the reprices posted by then, I'll transcribe some here.

So, what are the GOOD TRU games to look for to maximaize trade in value? I may stop and look tomorrow.

Thanks for the 360 prices also...I may unload Oblivion soon.

Some 360 trade values:

Need for Speed Carbon $35
Cars $28.50
King Kong $9.00

I picked up Marvel Ultimate Alliance with the 25% percent off and put the rest on my account.

They're the same ones everyone wants to find because they want to play 'em.
Bumpy Trot, Alterior Iris 2, Samurai Champloo, Metal Saga.

Yep. The deal is dead at mine as well. Sucks because I was hoping to take advantage of some of this week's 360 price drops (LOTR:BFME, Battlefield 2, etc.).

Oh well, I can use the EB 25 percent off 360 game coupon, but was going to trade FEAR which is still getting $35 at Gamerush and only $24 at EB.

It also appears that they have fixed the price of the PS3 controllers. I went in yesterday and they had put a $49.99 over the $39.99 sticker.

It looks like Samurai Champloo and Monster Rancher evo have dropped in trade-in price to $19 at GR. I did this over the phone this morning.

Damn, I'm almost afraid to call my GR and find out if the extra $5 trade promo is over... At least I took my Champloo in there when it still got $24 (and $29 for me w/bonus). Anyone with the $5 bonus still running - is it still active as of Tuesday this week? I'm hoping that it has just sort of become permanent at these select locations and not a promo with any particular ending date (as, obviously, it should have ended last October or whatever). They certainly still need the trades at my GR.
Is Prey still $20 new?
Yes, I just bought the regular edition yesterday, it is still $20 new. The limited edition is still $40, however.

Dang....I'll have to check my store soon. I was meaning to eventually pick one up. Too bad the 25% off sale was over...I never go to check another store.

Yeah, looks like the 25% off used games is over - the signs were all down. I thought it might go a bit longer in Central Florida since it started later...

I did score a -mint- old style silver NDS for only $60 (I had $24 credit on my account). Looks like it was never even charged...

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned, but there is another deal beginning. It is the 2 for $12/2 for $10 rental. All next-generation platforms (Wii, PS3,360) games will be 2 for $12 to rent, where as the current gen deal of 2 for $10 will continue.

Sweet! Anyone know when this will start? I've been playing downloaded demos on my PS3 for a while now, not sure which game to pick up first.

I found a stack of Xbox Live Kits with Project Gotham Racing 2 at my GR and had them price checked, but they rang up at $69.99 each! Apparently, only the Xbox Live Kit with Crimson Skies is $19.99. They'll have to drop at some point though as no one is going to pay $70 for a kit that old.

Was looking to find a $20 Metroid Prime Hunters, but no luck. If anyone has a new one to trade, I have some TRU clearance games in my Trade List.

I know this is related to Rhino, but are Gamerushes going away too?
Eventually probably, but nothing right now. And the title of that article is very misleading as it makes it seem like Blockbuster is getting out of the game rental business when the article says nothing like that.
