If its a plain old Block Buster...no go.

I live in MI, and the 4 GR's ive gone to have had this sale going on with 2 other sales, Buy one, Get 1 %50 off and Trade in any game, get $10 off a 39.99 or more NEW game.

Not all GR's are in on this. Of those that do, the rules vary by compentence.

I had a slightly similar experience and I have a complaint in with blockbuster's customer service. It wasn't even me actually, but a friend came with me on a gamerush trip into staten island one day. He wasn't a blockbuster member so he signed up at store #1, made a trade, and then when we went to another store....they were pissed about us trading and looking for any possible way to stop us. Since his card was new they had to call over to store #1, and the bitch manager at store #2 gets on the phone and asks if he traded any games in over there today. When they find out yet, she refuses to make the trade. Even though it clearly says once per visit, which I don't know the legal definition of in blockbuster's world but it could be multiple trips per day....she says once per day. When we show her the coupon and it says once per visit she got even nastier and said "I reserve the right to refuse any trade. You can't be going from store to store HITTING UP stores and getting all the new games." I started to raise my voice a little and told her how dare she speak to us as if we did something illegal, we are paying customers (I had purchased a new GBA game outside of any deals). She said if we weren't buying anything else could we please leave. How f'ing rude. How was it her business in the first place what my friend did at another store.

So I logged a complaint on the website and someone is going to get back to me. If nothing else I would like an apology and for her to get reprimanded for mistreating customers and not following an established deal as dictated by corporate. The first gamerush store was 100% cool with cool employees, but this other one needs to get their act together. If they had just denied the trade it'd have been no big deal but all the hostility was unwarranted.
how did you manage to get banned? i have a couple of gamerushes around here and they have nothing to do with eachother. if i have credit at one, there is no record of it at the other. there is no record at all between the stores so you musst have pissed someone off.

Jeff
I was doing the same thing, getting the game for 10 bucks minus trade in getting the used game and then trading it back in, I only did it two times one at one store and one at another but nothing is wrong with it

This is incredible. This deal even works with NES games! I just went to a local Gamerush store today and brought in some NES stuff for the hell of it since I already traded off my crappy PS1/PS2 games. I figured they'd accept them since I saw a few mixed in with the SNES and Genesis carts they had laying around. They said that I could use the NES games toward the "trade in 2, get any used for $9.99" deal. The catch is though that they only give you $0.25 per NES cart, no matter what it is. Still, I traded in Rad Racer, Super Mario Bros., Tetris and Adventure Island and picked up Siren and Manhunt (Xbox) for $10 each.

I love Gamerush.

It's not like that with my local Game Rushes, they have to be "next-gen" or PSX titles. But anyway...

Oh, plus, can someone guess/find out how much credit you'd get for these titles if you traded them in tomorrow:

Van Helsing
Resident Evil Outbreak
Hitman Contracts
Syphon Filter: The Omega Strain
The Suffering

Thank you.

No one can help me out with this? I asked the question a page ago and no reply...

It seems like GameRush has a pattern with trade-in credit. It goes kind of like this:

They Sell:/They Buy:
$3 / $.50
$5 / $1
$7 / $2
$10 / $3
$13-$15 / $7
$17-$30 / (approx. 50% of their selling price)
$33 / $20
$35 / $21
$40 / $25
$45 / $30

Therefore, I'd guess you will get about $125 in credit for those five games.

I went to the Gamerush in North Royalton Ohio this afternoon and it blew the big one. I had about 7 games I was ready to trade in. They had no selection and there was nobody even in the area of the store. I looked around for 10 minutes when finally some guy came over, didnt even acknowledge me, picked up some game somebody was renting and left.

I will never go back to that location again. It wasnt even worth the 15 minute drive it took. I think the store was just put up this morning with the paltry selection they had on everything.

They did have signs of the trade in 2 get PO for 9.99. Ghetto looking ones but that promotion is still up in Cleveland.

It worked. I got ESPN NBA and KotOR for nothing out of pocket and still had $7.38 for credit.
Traded in:
Brute Force:$8 credit

NBA Live 2003:$8 credit

Monster Force(GBA):$7 credit

TARZAN(GBA):$6 credit

It was somewhere around these prices.
The new paper was there so deal is still on. I'm very happy right now.
:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

I also went golfing today so this was a good day indeed. I'm going to go to the other GR next week (or sooner so, hopefully I can get some good games.

Oh, I've been wondering this.

I want to keep The Suffering, but, I was wondering how that "trade in any game, get any new game for 29.99 (or less)" deal would work if you wanted a game which currently costs 19.99 new?

Because, frankly, right now my Game Rush doesn't have any new games I really want, but I really would like NBA Street Volume 2 for the GCN (due to the four-player capabilities). Sure the rosters are outdated, but, it's a heck of a game. But, how would this deal work if I traded in a game to get a new game for a cheaper price? Would Street be 9.99? Maybe 4.99? Bah. Help is drastically needed!

Street Vol. 2 is really one of the only new games there that catches my eye. Either they have stuff I don't want, or games I already have, and I'm sure this deal won't last long enough for me to wait for actual games I want to come out.

Well, I want Mario vs. Donkey Kong: that is currently 29.99 new, how much would it be if I traded in a game for it? 19.99?

I'm pretty sure all the GameRush stores in Ohio were opened within the last two weeks. Give them some time to build up their selection.

Nephets - the new game for $29.99 works on games $39.99 and up. Theoretically, this deal has been going on for a long time. Before this, it was manifested as "trade in any itme, get $10 off a new games $39.99 or higher."

Also,
Van Helsing $20
Resident Evil Outbreak $20
Hitman Contracts $30
Syphon Filter: The Omega Strain $25
The Suffering ?

As of yesterday. Values for VH and REO are dropping fast.

I also had this question and posted about it earlier...the coupon took off $20 from my 49.99 game, so I was hoping it would take 20 off a 29.99 game. But unfortunately, it won't. It won't drop a new game below 29.99, so you'll just get your trade-in credit and that's it.

Apparently, I was told, the trade in 1, get any new game for $29.99 deal ended yesterday.

Their new cycle begins today with the 6/14/04 ads. The trade in 2, PO for $9.99 is still good to go.

Also they have a new sheet of coupons with random stuff like Free Mario/Yoshi collectible with the purchase of any GC game.

Lastly, Every GBA trade-in gives a minimum of $10 now.

Ah well, thanks for the help anyway.

Also they have a new sheet of coupons with random stuff like Free Mario/Yoshi collectible with the purchase of any GC game

What kind of collectable?
Does that mean GBA systems?

I doubt it: I'm guessing you'll get 20-35 for an original model GBA, while probably 50-60 for the SP.
Does that mean GBA systems?
Whoops. Sorry, my mistake!

:(
That's okay. :)
But I would like to know what this deal means. I have already traded in 2 of my GBA games in yesterday. I don't even have a GBA anymore so I would love to trade them in. I would also like to know if this can be combined with the trade in 2 games get a game for $9.99.

Went to EB, picked up 4 cheap and crappy PSone sports games. I traded in 2 and got Prince of Persia (GC) for around $10 or so dollars. At another GameRush I traded in the other 2 PSone games with 2 of my GameCube games (see below). Got Zelda: WW and James Bond: EoN (GC).

Trade-in Values I got.

NBA Street Vol. 2 (GC) = $8.00
Freedom Fighters (GC) = $8.00

I'm glad to get rid of Freedom Fighters, as the game seemed pretty boring. Had to force myself to play it just to see its ending. It had good music and graphics, but the controls could've been better.

NBA Street 2 (GC), bought that at Toys R Us a while back for $9.99.
The game didn't even let you use the dang D-pad to control your character. Only played it like twice. Glad to get rid of it. Never really cared for NBA Street anyway. Only reason I'd want part 1 is because a certain SSX character is in it and Pippen and Jordan. And you can use the D-pad (GC version). I liked NBA Hangtime and the old NBA Jam games better though.

Anyway, thanks Cheapassgamer and this forum! GameRush rules! :)

I want NBA Street Vol. 2, is it 9.99 on the GCN anywhere else currently? Game Rush has it for 19.99, but I'd love to get it for 10 dollars!
Lastly, Every GBA trade-in gives a minimum of $10 now.
What does this mean?

I wouldn't know, sorry. But you could try Toys R Us, that's if you have one near you. I'm not sure if the $9.99 price at TRU has ended or not. I thought someone said it would end the 22nd of last month.

Off Topic.
I like your sig.

Oh, yeah. GO PISTONS!! :) i hate the team they're playing against. i'm not even gonna say their name. :)

I'm positive it means that you'll get no-less than 10 dollars for every GBA game you trade in now, but I am not sure myself.

Now thanks Bull  , but can someone help me on getting NBA Street Vol. 2? :p

And yes, GO PISTONS!

i stopped by a blockbuster today to check things out, and it did have the deal posted, except it said that ps1 games did not apply. i could have asked or said something, but i doubt i would have much of an argument when the terms of the deal are posted right in front of my face. luckily they didn't have anything i was too interested in.
Damn........this is such a good deal, but there is no gamerush to be found around my area.
I'm lucky enough to have 2 GR very close to me.

Yea i had like 40 PO games and i went up to game rush a couple of times, and got a bunch of good games and resold them on ebay and made tons, like i got: 4 splinter cell pandora tommorow, ninja gaiden, tiger woods 04, final fantasy, medal gear solid twin snakes. It was awsome, im glad i live in texas.

Be careful around here, buddy - not too many people on this board take kindly to resellers, and you're likely to get flamed. Don't say I didn't warn you...

Yep. People carry a grudge against reselling because with resellers the motivation to make money (and prevent other people from doing so) leads them to do stupid things that get the deals ended or suspended for those moderately using the deals to supliment thier game libaries.

(I wouldn't be shocked if resellers made up most of the people who got ungodly numbers of the madden rainchecks).

i just got back from the gamerush here in Grand Rapids, MI. they told me that the trade one 1 get a new one for 29.99 deal ended yesterday. (6.14.04) Also they said that the trade one in get a used for 9.99 will be ending real soon. The manager told me the corporate office was calling all of the stores to cancel these deals because i asked if maybe one of their other stores may still be having it. SO good luck to anyone else trying to get in and more power to ya if they still work.

Surprising that the 29.99 deal would have ended since it's still the current offer on their website. If you want to complain, you can tell them that it's still up on gamerush.com with no expiration. May or may not do you any good.

I think Gamerush knew exactly how much money they would lose....with no restrictions on what to trade in, and basically giving games away....they were going to pull all the deals sooner or later.

Yah, I was going to do that today. Also, the $10 off any $39.99 game or less with a trade-in coupon never had an expiration.

Looks like the way Gamerushes operate is that store policy can supercede any corporate, though.

Anyways, Nephets answered many of the questions sj41 had.

The little collectible is a figurine from Sunshine (Mario on Yoshi with his waterpack). I will post a pic of the coupon tonight.... or if I get a game, maybe the actual figurine :)

And yes, the GBA minimum of $10 is exactly what Nephets said. Sunday I traded an old GBA game in for $5, which is pretty much the lowest GBA game went. But it seems like GR is looking to increase their stock of PO GBA games, so anything that was a trade-in value of less than $10 is now automatically $10.

Also Ninja Gaiden is $29.99 new on that coupon sheet as well.

You know this is kind of weird but I went into Gamerush one day on a Saturday, and they gave me $13 each for namco museum and the Hobbit....both are cheap and Hobbit is total crap...

The next day they wanted to give me $4 or $5 for CT: Special forces, which is pretty good even though it was only 20 new. Still a little peculiar.

Guys, I did it again. I just bought a Game Cube at Target today for $70. Then I went to the GR that I had not gone to before. I traded in these GBA games...

Dragon Ball Z Legacy of Goku and got $10.00
Robotech and got $13.00
Yugioh! Worldwide Edition and got $13.00
Battlebots and got $10.00

At this point I had $53.38 on my "value card" including the money I had from the last time I went to a GR.

Then I bought these GC things...

FF:CC for $9.99
Mario Party 5 for $9.99
Madcatz memory card for $6.99

Then I went to a regular BB and bought Pikmin for $9.99 and X-Men 2:WR for $6.99-$3.50 for the half off.

I am in love with BB and GR right now. :D

Yea they give you some good trade value for crapy games, i traded in men in black (gc) and got $25 credit for it, when i got it from a pawn shop for only $10.

The deal was still going on Sunday here and I managed to find Phantasy Star Online Ep I & II for GC with a couple of PS1 games. Funny that their retail on the game used was only $19.99, when the game regularly goes for $40-50 on eBay.

Also saw the Space Channel 5 I sold previously selling for the wonderful price of $39.99. The game can still be found at some EB's for $11.99 used, so go get your $25 in credit ASAP. Another game I noticed that was a little pricey used was Wild Arms 3 at $34.99. I don't own this game but I can almost guess it might be good for $20-25 credit used...

EDIT: Okay, I don't know how to add pictures to my post, so the pictures of the mario/yoshi figure as well as the coupon sheet are in my gallery.

I saw that coupon sheet when I was there. I'm getting Super Smash Bros. Melee. I want to use that $5 off coupon on it. Does anyone know this game's MSRP. I don't know if it's $20 or $30.

I think the "Trade 1, get any new for $29.99" is officially over, but stores can still extend the offer if necessary.
