I live in MI, and the 4 GR's ive gone to have had this sale going on with 2 other sales, Buy one, Get 1 %50 off and Trade in any game, get $10 off a 39.99 or more NEW game.

Not all GR's are in on this. Of those that do, the rules vary by compentence.

So where are the Gamerushs located in CT? [/quote[

I never been there, dont even know if they are participating in this deal. Id just guess they arent since its the only one in the state and because CT stores never have any deals that are posted here.

If they are participating in it, lemme know man. :)
it wont last...not if there smart
Why? They've already derived all the benefit from having bought the game anyway... all this is doing is clearing their shelves of games that they've already rented out multiple times. From the way it appears, a game will be rented many, many times in the first month, and then after that it languishes on the shelf. Its a great and highly symbiotic thing for them to do to open these stores... they even get a little bit of the sunk cost that they invested in the software to begin with.

They aren't losing anything here, they just aren't making as much profit on that single game. But that can be said about any promotion.
They are, however getting new business thanks to a sale like this.

Like me... I've never traded a game in... ever, until this promotion. Now, if I'm going to trade in any of my videogame software, it's more likely that I'll return to gamerush to do it.

Of course, if you behave like a moron and buy the 2.99 PS1 games at THEIR store and then trade them in, they are more likely to not add PS1 games to the next promo.

to be honest, they did it against thier policy. on the handout/paperwork you can do this TWICE DAILY. thats there own damn fault, and it worked well for you. I have no problem with what you did, but its one of those nice ways of having a cool promotion never happen again.

and on that note im returning MGS:Twin snakes... i just cant get into it. I think the stealth genre is dead to me.
what are you talking about? They are losing money because I bought the games for 9.99 and traded them right back to them for $22. I did this until i had enought store credit to buy FFXI, a game they will not be renting out, so no they didnt already get their money back. They lost out of like $85 on just me alone if everyone did that they would be hella screwed
How can they lose money on a product that they've already derived profit from? They already made their money plus some on every used game that they are selling. If you traded them back for $22 dollars, that means that they had to have made around $40 dollars off of you between the PS1 games you bought to trade in and the other games you bought... and they cleared some old product off of thier shelves.

Heck, Blockbuster could take all of the games they rent out and throw them away when they were done with them and they'd still turn a profit.
Doing it this way, they just get more value out of their purchase.
On top of it, most people won't be like you, and they'll be trading in games with more resale value (if anything, the only thing they'd change about this promo is that they'd stop accepting PS1 games as a trade in.

You are being very short sighted about this...
Not only do they move old product of their shelves, they get new people (some of which are likely to become frequent customers) into their stores.
New customers are much more valuable that a dubious loss on a heavily used preowned game.
i was just saying Final Fantasy XI brand new selling for $15 is not them turning a profit

and they didnt move old product off the shelf because they all went right back when i traded them
It's not booking a loss either.
This promotion is across all the stores, so not everyone is doing what you did. Actually I think very few people are... They are no worse of on this deal that when people were buying Rogue Ops at Best Buy for 5 dollars and trading it to Gamerush for 25 dollars credit.

Anyways, you weren't exactly following the rules of the promotion, the ills you say this would cause aren't likely to happen... most stores won't put up with what you did, and have every right to refuse a trade in.

Well... It would be awesome if they kept this deal, unfortunatltey, you know that many of the best titles after being added would be snatched up by store employees and it would probably be difficult to find good titles.

I was pretty happy with Prince of Persia and Gladius - but I was a little disapionted that they didn't have anything better. But I had a gift card, and I already had crappy Psone games that I didn't want.... I'll definatley be stopping in at the other GameRush near me when I'm out by there every time I get a chance to try and find some deals.

Wow. This deal is great. I traded in 6 crappy old, PS1 and PS2 games, picked up 3 new titles AND walked away with $20 in store credit. This deal blows my mind. I can't wait to hit another Gamerush tomorrow.

Thanks, I'm not sure if I'll be going there anytime soon, but if I do I will give you every single detail possible, since you responded and let me know where it was located. Thanks again.

So so so so so so so! Wait a second here. I don't mean to sound like a noob here, but, I have 4 games:

Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (PS2)
NBA2K2 (GC)
Legends of Wrestling (XB)
Spider-Man (XB)

So, you're saying that I can trade in all four of these games and basically get ANY TWO pre-owned games for 10 bucks? So, I could get two next-gen, used games for 9.99 if I trade in these four? Is this deal still valid? If so tomorrow I'm going to head out and see what they got. I'm hoping to pick up MGS:TTS and probably some other game that interests me there, anyone here from the Dallas area that has traded in anything? Did you get anything good?

Or, another question: I'm a completist, these used games come in their original boxes and have the manuals, correct? If not, I'll be one angry little man.

BUMP! I'm about to go out to the store in a few hours and I'd like a response please, because I really don't want to look stupid going into there, explaining this deal I only half-understand.

Yes, 2 of those titles will get you one pre-owned game for 9.99. You will also get the trade-in credit on those games.

As for having Manual/original case, it depends. One local GR has wind waker manual and disk but BB casing. then again, i got MGS:TTS with original box, manual and of course both disks. Take note, because only nintendo makes cases that work with blockbusters security latch, you may have to ask for an original xbox or ps2 case if thats the system of your choice.

Thanks a lot for your help. So, basically, I can get two pre-owned games for 20 bucks today, after I trade in those 4 games? That's awesome. Let's hope they have some good stuff in!

So, wait, I ALSO get trade-in credit, even if I'm redeeming these games for a pre-owned one? Wow, GameRush is pretty awesome.

yes, so whatever those games trade in for goes twards that $20...so might walk out of thier with 2 games and store credit :)

Wow, so, the trade-in value also goes towards the twenty? Are you saying it's possible to get those games for free and leave with like 6-7 left over dollars? This is amazing if so!

This is valid towards ALL GameRushes, right? I don't mean to sound nervous, I guess I just want to double check. ;)
What about GC/Xbox/PS2 games? I only have one sports game in that pile.
You're prolly get $2-3 bux for the next gen sports games unless they're 2004, then you'll get something in double digits. I traded NFL Blitz 2002 and NFL 2k3 and got $2 each but NCAA Football 2004 got me $13... Plus, you're in luck too since Mesquite has 3 GameRushes that supposedly aren't too far from each other. I was thinking about stopping by to check out their selections but gas is getting more expensive by the day so I'll just stick to the Richardson stores...

With my four games, I think I'll get at least 15 dollars or so. I hope.

And yeah, there are 3 Game Rushes that are pretty close to each other, so I got 3 chances to get something good! :D

If they don't give you an original case then ask for one... they gave me them when I asked. As for manuals, it depends... one of my came with one, but another didn't.

Thanks, guys. I'll actually be heading out to the three Game Rushes near me tomorrow, let's hope I get some good stuff! I'm hoping for MGS:TTS and maybe Max Payne 2, or maybe even Wario Ware on the GCN, though that'll be pretty hard. I'm not exactly sure what I want besides MGS, so, I'll just look around for the best game out there to trade in my 4 old ones for. I mean, other than Legends of Wrestling, they are good games. NBA2K2 was great, and I had many hours of play-time with it, but I have ESPN NBA Basketball, so it's no-longer needed.

The Gamerush near me didn't have the offer. They had a lot of games I would have picked up too (Splinter Cell: Pandora is the one I wanted the most).

I guess it kind of figured it wasn't ment to be, road workers put concrete barriers up blocking the highway exit (that place has been under heavy construction forever), leading to a lengthy detour after turning around at the next exit a few miles up the road. I guess I shouldn't have been too surprised that gr didn't have the deal since nothing else seemed to be going my way.

I did pick up Street Fighter Alpha 3 and Mega Man Legends (both PS1) for $4.50 total, only to come home and find out my primary Playstation memory card decided to completely erase itself. It was a first party card too. I just couldn't win.

Wow, sorry to hear that, man. I'm assuming the Game Rushes near me have this offer, as a guy earlier on said he went to Richardson (which is about 20 minutes from here), for the deal. I just hope the THREE Game Rushes over here have the deal, I mean, at least one of them would have to have the deal, right?

see my earlier post..i'm from richardson and was referring to the richardson store offering the deal

it's pretty much a wasteland..and the guys there are your usual "i'm so cool because i work at ballbuster" kind of guys....the kind of guys that probably cleaned out the good used games for themselves when they heard about this deal

Damn employees...

Can anyone post some findings of pre-owned games they spotted at Game Rush? I'm curious to know what all I could find there...

I've seen lots of MGS: TTS, a couple of Final Fantasy: CC, NFL Street, and that's about it on bigger titles I think I've seen Max Payne 2 for 19.99 but that was worth only renting imo. No luck on SC: PT for me yet. I'm about to go back to trade in Unreal 2 which sucked imo but I gets $25 back for it so I'll actually be making profit. I've found or seen these in the Plano, Allen, and Mckinney gamerushes.

ive picked up Prince of Persia, Otogi, Splinter Cell: Pandora Tommorow, Mario Kart DD, Metal Gear Solid:TTS and im considering picking up Wario Ware (GC) and Crystal Chronicles

Whats cool is every week they pull some rentals off the shelf and put em in pre-owned. So it's worth checking a few weeks after a major release to see if it's there. My gamerush had newer titles like Outbreak, Hitman Contracts, and Onimusha 3.

Also, my friend traded in nba live and nhl 2004 and got $25 for each of them. One ps1 game even got him $12, and he paid $2.99 for it the day before. Gamerush trade in prices are really high.

traded in MGS:TTS and got $20, and traded in DOA 3 for $3 (in this case, im buying ultimate later, so i really dont care) and got Unreal 2 (xbox) for 9.99... which is good considering its used price was 49.99 (!!??). I might even force myself to not like it just to trade it in, ive already got $60 in credit, and a PS2 sounds nice right about now.

Where did you find Unreal 2? Which location? I'm in South Lyon and I've been to the 9 mile/Novi Rd location and the Beck/12mile location within the last 3 days and never saw Unreal 2. Any other copies left?

Xphyle

actually this was at the commerce location. it was a trade in from someone. I dont know if all stores do this labeling, but this one at least puts a little orange dot on games that were traded in and not part of BB's inventory. only one though, sorry.

Thanks for the title list, and I'll be sure to look around to be sure that I pick up 2 great titles for a cheap price. ;)

WOW is all I have to say. I just got back from one location, met a totally cool worker, and got copies of MGS:TTS and Wario Ware Inc. on the GCN for a total of 5 dollars with the 4 games I traded in.

I'm going to go back in a few days and get the Alias game, and Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles, and maybe by then they'll have Custom Robo there, too! Man, I love this deal. :D

Our Game Rush had a LOT of games!

Which 1 of the 3 Mesquite ones did ya go to? I'm thinkin about heading that way in the next few days. I stopped by the one near Town East Mall last week but nothing really caught my eye...

So far I've picked up DDR Max 2, Baldurs' Gate 2, Onimusha Blade Warriors, and Socom 2 from the Richardson stores...

I actually went to the Town East/Galloway one, lots of stuff caught my eye there:

Alias, Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles, SC:pT, Fire Emblem...

I'm hoping they'll have Custom Robo used when I go back in a few days, I plan on trading in Monster Rancher 2 and Quantum Redshift, probably 2 more PSX titles as well.

Went to the Farmington Hills location and traded in Project Gotham Racing 2 and Wreckles: The Yakuza Missions (Which they gave me 20 and 7 for respectively. I picked up Time Crisis 3 and Max Payne 2. Grandtotal: 9.54 in trade in credit left. Got basically 64 or 67 bucks for my two games I only spent 12 bucks on. Whoot!

Going to hit up a couple more locations to see what I can come up with.

I went to the novi store today and it was PACKED! Anyway, I bought a 50 dollar game there and it said All hot new release games 39.99 and they charged me 50! Should I go back and complain?

Anyway I went to gamestop and bought 6 ps1 games and it cost me around 10 bucks, I then went to gamerush and traded them in for 9 bucks and bought two nfl streets for a total of 12.13 or something. Then on a new purchase I traded those BOTH back in, lol, and got 25 for each so a total of 50 and then I got fight night 2004 new and they charged me 50 but the ad says 39.99 :( so I ended up paying 25 for fight night 2004 but I should have only paid 15, good deal? :D

I got 4 more games to trade-in tomorrow. Does anyone know if they accept your trade-in even if a game isn't in the right box? For example, I have EXTREME PINBALL (got it for like 1 dollar at Gamestop), in an NBA Live 1998 PSX box, it doesn't have the manual, does that matter at all?

Anyway if, I got these next games to trade-in tomorrow:

Beast Wars: Transformers (horrid game, really cheap)
Extreme Pinball (one of the original PSX titles, really long load times, bad game)
Quantum Redshift (good for a while, but is really just an F-Zero clone, I got it for 7 dollars)
Monster Rancher 2 (got some good playtime in the day, and I just don't need it anymore, also without an instruction book)

So, basically, do you need the instructions/original box to trade-in PSX games? I hope not.

I plan on getting Alias and some other game tomorrow, dunno which yet. Something good, I promise.

And yes, I know the Alias game isn't getting "good reviews", per se, but, hey, I wanna play it because I'm a huge Alias fan. Now would be a good time to get it.

Oh, and one more thing, are you sure there's a limit to how many you can get per day? I was kinda hoping I could get 3 tomorrow, haha. :D

actually, that $10 off bit is only with trade-in...meaning, you can do all the trade 2 get 1 for $10 things you want, but you need to trade in a game specifically for the $10 off.

Just take in the disk. They really dont care, and they dont subtract anything if its missing stuff.

Anywho, just traded in Unreal 2 ($25) and XIII($7) and got Knights of the old republic for the usual 9.99. this was at the Bloomfeild hills (W. Maple) Gamerush, where they also had 2 copies of Klona 2 (great game) and some copies of Wind Waker with case/manual.

I'm eager to know, has anyone spotted Mario Party 5 anywhere? Tomorrow I'm going back to probably 2 Game Rushes near me, and I wanted to know if anyone has ever seen Mario Party 5 at any of their stores, I need a good party game for next weekend.

And, sorry to sound like a broken record, but is there actually a limit to the amount of games you can get for 9.99 per day?

Wshakspear - I brought in 6 ps1 games and bought 2 nfl streets and then on a new purchase I traded BACK in nfl street, lol for credit and bought fight night 2004 so I traded in nfl street for fight night so shouldn't I get 10 dollars off?

I was at the Farmington Hills store 2 days ago and picked up Hitman: Contracts & Final Fantasy: CC with this deal. After trading in old PS1 games, my total came to $10.33. Both are getting around $20 in trade-in value. This deal is INSANE.

Scube...yes, yes you should have.

Cousinlump... nuts aint it! you've basically got the chance to buy almost any cool new title for a damn good price, where if you dont like it you can trade it in and basically you just got paid to rent it.

fun.

You can trade Hitman Contracts back in and get $30 credit if you dont like it. Thats what I did. So far I've spent $7 out of my pocket and gotten rid of a few old used games. In return I got Twin Snakes, Medal of Honor Rising Sun, Sonic Mega Collection, and $80 in store credit. Now that's just crazy.
