Game Pass

Rent unlimited games for a month. You can have one game (or 2 depending on the pass) out at a time and can return it whenever you want and switch it out as many times as you want.

$21.99 for 1 Game

http://www.gamerush.com/rules_gamepass.php click this link to find out about gamepass at Gamerush.

You must have a credit card/check card to signup. Checkcard must be visa, mc, amex, dc, or diners club. You can also do it by getting a prepaid visa, mc, dc or amex card with at least $1 on it so it will clear the authorization and just pay for it each month (very tedious though). You can cancel at any time. Good on any rental game (gamecube, psp, nds, gba, xbox, ps2).
Anyone try to buy systems with their credit. I just bought (finally) a mariokart DS bundle. The manager only let me because of my trade history there, but mentioned that they were not supposed to allow buying hardware using credit. To this, I replied, whats the point of trading in games if I cant use the credit on what I want. Seems like one way to deter racking up copious amounts or credit, since you cant buy the most expensive items in the store with it.
Not sure if a GIFT card is the same as a VALUE card, but here's the Q&A from Blockbuster's website:

Q:What may I use my GiftCards for at BLOCKBUSTER stores?
A:Use your GiftCards to purchase or rent movies or games or treat yourself to food, beverages or merchandise.

Sounds like that's pretty much anything that the store sells.

Tried to trade in Echo Night: Beyond and Kuon tonight, but was only quoted $4 for each. This really sucks as I'm stuck with about 12 copies combined of the two games!

I'll gladly take a few copies off of your hands if you wanna trade or sell. Send me a list!
Well, it could be that a certian unnamed person traded in 9 at one location(who it was, shall remain a mystery ;-) ), maybe setting a flag off at the district, so they lowered the price? Dunno..

As for the price of geist, $7 here, not that they have any in stock... I keep meaning to stop by TRU, but i always put it off, hate driving that far down dale mabry.
Yea, but you didn't trade in Echo Night Beyond though... that one hasn't been around for awhile, it's mostly been Kuon... it just seems random and like it could be some kind of error, espically if they both sell used for their original prices.

Berzerker - the Dale Mabry TRU is now 30% off on games?
Berzerker - the Dale Mabry TRU is now 30% off on games?
Yep, 30% games, 50% accessories. I just got back from there, didnt see anything really worthwhile. They had a whole buncha eyetoys (though i'd rather wait for Kmart to sell em dirt cheap again). Tons of DS games, once again none that i was interested in, the rest were basically crap budget gba/gc/ps2/xbox games.

Did you happen to see if Suikoden Tactics was still there? $29.99 + 30% off isn't such a bad deal. Last time I went during the 20% off, they still had a ton of 40 - 50 dollar games... the DS games consisted of about 50 copies of some crappy game (Dragon Booster?) and one Lost in Blue which I snagged.

Can't find their phone # to give them a call.

Just a note to those of you attempting to use GR credit to buy an Xbox 360....

Unlike EBGames, Walmart, etc, Blockbuster will NOT refund your money for a damaged unit.

Likewise, Microsoft will NOT refund your money for a damaged unit.

All either will offer is for Microsoft to send you a refurbished unit.

If you buy this piece of crap, as I did, and it malfunctions, as mine did, you're out all of your cash/credit.

It's alright, I've been trading Echo Night for over a year now and Kuon for probably 8 months, so I think I shall live. Any idea what GameCrazy gives for them Nigel?
It's alright, I've been trading Echo Night for over a year now and Kuon for probably 8 months, so I think I shall live. Any idea what GameCrazy gives for them Nigel?
Just hold on to them for a little while longer, hopefully the price on them will shoot back up. Like io said, this could very well be a glitch, much like Geist, for them to suddenly the drop the price straight down to $4 on a random day... did the PO price get adjusted at all?

I mean, after a year of both games being $24 and people trading them for a long time, it just seems so random both games would be worthless in the trading system, rather then a gradual drop. I'd imagine Geist got abused much worse these last few days.

I am very diligently hoping this is true, because I had one last copy of Kuon and ENB that was going to completely pay off Street Fighter Alpha 3 MAX for PSP next week.

So the big question for me now is whether or not GR will get Chibi-Robo, and will it be on time? My son's 6th birthday is Wednesday (the 8th). The game is supposed to come out Tues (Fry's says they will have it then). If GR gets it Tues or Weds I'll be happy, as I can give it to him at his party Weds night. I just know there's about a 75% chance I'm going to go in Weds and they will say it has a release date of Friday and either won't have it or won't bother looking for it (thus I would go in instead of just call - makes them look harder). Maybe it will come in 2-3 weeks late like Batallion Wars, or maybe it doesn't even come in, like some of the DS games. I just wish they knew one way or the other and could give me a straight answer. Hopefully it will be there when it should, so I shan't worry yet :D.

Oh, and I also hope Geist holds through the weekend...

Dr F, I'm almost afraid to ask, but how many copies of Kuon and ENB do you think you've traded in?? Wouldn't they be monitoring your activity a bit more than others, or is this a sort of severance package deal they gave you (ie, let you trade whatever and look the other way)?

What is wrong with getting a refurbished unit to replace your malfunctioning one?

It is better than not having a 360 at all.

Well, my friend if you really want to get rid of your 12 copies like posted earlier in the thread regular BBs are still giving 24 for them so if you have a regular BB that accepts trades you should be good to go.

Well io, unless they're REALLY late, you could probably just go ahead and buy it at Best Buy (or Fry's, I guess), so you have it in hand, and then return the copy you get from GR to Best Buy as long as it comes in within a month.

I may try to take a couple to a regular Blockbuster sometime today. Kind of odd that they'd stay at $24 at Blockbuster yet drop all the way to $4 at Gamerush.

I'd say I've probably traded 20+ Echo Nights and 8-10 Kuons over the last year.
Since I quit Gamerush, I really don't trade as much as I used to (about once a week, twice tops), so I'm sure my account doesn't look quite as shady. I also use a different account than the one that I used while I worked there and I don't trade at any of the stores that are overseen by my former district manager.

Not for me. The poll on the CAG 360 forum suggests that we on this site have experienced almost a 15% failure rate with the Xbox 360. At this point, I'd rather have my credit back.

I see your point.

I was wondering the same thing about Romance. I've still got a couple left from the TRU sale and I've about given up on the ebay prices ever rebounding the way that they did for some of the other games.

Yeah, the only problem is that they are more likely not to get it at all if they don't get it that first week. And I don't want to be stuck with a $50 copy :D, that would be absolutely horrible. Though it is $40 at Fry's and they have a 30 day return policy. I would do this for sure if GR could just give me a straight answer about these types of things (like if it will be 2 weeks late that's fine, I just want to know - likewise if they will never get it - I mean someone somewhere has to know they never even bothered to order Viewtiful Joe DS or PopoloCrois).
Some general Gamerush questions:

What states have Gamerushes?
What't the closest location to Pittsburgh, PA? (I'm guessing Stow, OH)

The stupid store locator on the Gamerush only goes up to 50 miles, and I have some credit saved up from FL that I may need to use later this year (Perhaps on a Revolution?).
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I feel your pain.....perhaps more. I used to live in L.A., CA. and in that damn big city you could find just about anything withing a 5 mile radius. If i'm not mistaken, there were about 10 BB/GR stores within 10 miles. Around 39 within 50! Yes! NO BS. Now that i'm living in Virginia Beach, VA., I can't find jack! The closest one that I've seen was in Georgia......while I was driving through there...Oh well...

BTW, no GR stores in a 50 mile(s) search here in Virginia Beach.

Kuon and Echo Night Beyond down to $4 trade-in tonight at the two GameRush's closest to the UCF campus in Orlando, FL. (The games were tagged $39.99 used on the shelf.)

I'm hoping after a bit the value will go back up as before. Worst comes to worst, I'll just add them to my collection of survival-horror games I'm too scared to play.

my gr had multiple 360s in stock (the manhattan beach, ca store) including 2 premiums and a few cores. didnt pick one up myself because of the backlog ps2 and gc games, as well as the new ds mariokart i picked up. 2 dead pixels out of the box. called gr to ask if they would take the return and they told me to call nintendo. wouldnt the store have to accept my return for defective hardware within the return period??? thanks.

That's definately a glitch then, the price should shoot back up soon.
That's definately a glitch then, the price should shoot back up soon.
Not to be negative, but there's no way this is a glitch. I went by a standard blockbuster in DFW a couple of days ago and the manager saw my Kuon, checked a memo in her notebook, then said that she'd heard not to take this. Eventually BB just got around to lowering the trade in price. It's over.

No, apparently not. See my message on the last page about the same shabby treatment from GR over my 360. I've written corporate about it, and I'm calling the District Manager on Monday. How can a retailer refuse to accept a return on a faulty product that they have sold?

One of the GR's here stopped taking Geist (or got really anal about it), but the trade-in value didn't drop immensely... certain stores can refuse certain games, but it dosen't dictate what the company as a whole is doing.

I mean, look what DrFrielgood wrote, he's been trading in Kuon and ENB for almost a year.. they are a little bit late now to change the price. It just seems like such a huge drop to suddenly start giving $4 on it instead of $24, like how they did with Geist when that got glitched (apparently).

And on top of it, it's still $39.99 used? GR would become worse then EB with huge mark up if this was true. If anything, this may be a temp. drop to get people to stop trading it for awhile, like how Druaga fluctuated all over the place but eventually went back to $19.

It just seems weird to me they would single out those two games... what about all the Geists and Galleons that get traded in, or the KoF: MI's? If anything, I'll go return my two copies and pick up two Galleons.

Ummm, give them time....maybe they'll lower the used prices on the games. We have almost a page of discussion on the price-drops on Kuon and ENB. I know it sucks, but it could've been flagged by people trading in 10-15 copies of the same game over a month of time. I know there is no policy against doing it, but it may just raise flags.

Well, onto the next deal.....oh yeah, there are no more deals ;)

Shipwreck - Should the thread be unstickied now? There are no more deals right now, so really no point in leaving it up.... I never really understood why we had a GR thread stickied, when no one ever put up an EB / GS / Gamecrazy deal thread or anything like that.

If anything we can sticky it in request a deal for all the trade in values.

PS - That TRU Green Tag thread could really go too, since it's basacially over and your chances of finding anything are slim.

Are we sure they still sell for $39.99? Maybe they haven't gotten around to putting a new sticker on them.

Gamerush generally drops prices on new and used games on Sundays, so if this is a permanent change the prices on Echo and Kuon should drop today.

I think the Kuon and Echo night prices are a glitch in the GR system. I work at a gamerush and I remember about 2 months ago when someone traded in wwe day of reckoning 2 for gcube and dynasty warriors 5 for ps2 and both games got a trade value of only $4. I called another GR to make sure and they had it at $4 as well. I looked at it yesterday and it was back to $24, used for $24.99 btw.

So hold on tight guys, I'm sure it will fix itself soon, the used price in the system is still $39.99

well if kuon and ENB is really a glitch then.. it may confirms what i had in mind for a while.. GR is not stupid, and they are luring us (very small percentage, although there are tons of lurkers in this thread) to trade in games at their stores. Generally it's the market of information, where whoever has the control of the info could gain benefit.. so GR kinda build a honeytrap for many of us to trade often and earn 'store credit' with them... I've been trading at GR for awhile.. almost 2 years and i always buy stuff at blockbuster/GR anyway.. like DS game or accessary... or even Used DVD (ah ha!) in the end GR biz model will not lose that much money ( i doubt that they lose money at all.. they are probably making 'some' profit on the GR part) since there are tons of mom/pop casual gamers who buy up their used game (maybe with cash also. plus they pull away customer for their rival say Gamecrazy (often time locate close by to GR).. they are doing biz.. so whatever they do is 'calculated' and they are not stupid.. so maybe a 'glitch' here and there is to pause and do an inventory check on both games (and maybe somemore) and see if they can proceed with this two.. or go with the 'next' one.... .isn't all the game that GR give tons of credit are a bit 'hard to find'.. so the number of those games is ljmited in the beginning plus the 'trader' who 'flip' those game would grab those games in big numbers and trade.. so the real players is not that big... easier to control'... well.. let's see what happend.. i may not bring kuon back at my GS .. probably not worth my time.. worst case. i'll just trade it to GR.. and lose some credit.. hehe :)

If this is true, and Gamerush was being somewhat profitable, then this wouldn't have shown up in Gamespot's rumor control, when talking about the PS3 supposedly not playing used games:

Though there are signs that the game-rental stories are in decline--Blockbuster Video is reportedly shopping around its GameRush subsidiary--Netflix-esque services like GameFly are gaining in popularity

This is an interesting article, lots of talk about Gamerush:

http://64.233.179.104/search?q=cach...amerush+losing+money&hl=en&gl=us&ct=clnk&cd=1

It is a VERY interesting read, it talks about their video game stock, flipping, preorders, everything.

For some reason it takes forever to load, just give it time.

This is my favorite part:

Blockbuster demanded they get games for the same price from Electronic Arts (EA) as Wal-Mart does. EA refused since Blockbuster orders so few copies compared to Wal-Mart, so Blockbuster decided to stop carrying a large EA library. Since no one took us seriously we'd always get games 2-7 days after their release date, which continues today. It's also not really uncommon for the Buster to presell games they'll never get."

I also found this on Gamespot's site, on the rumor control section about PS3's not playing used games:

It would mean forfeiting the rental market to Microsoft's Xbox 360. Though there are signs that the game-rental stories are in decline--Blockbuster Video is reportedly shopping around its GameRush subsidiary--Netflix-esque services like GameFly are gaining in popularity.

Not sure if "shopping around" means they are going to sell the brand to someone else or if they want to expand the brand out of Blockbuster into different stores, but it could be hell for people with credit, espically since it's on your Blockbuster account or BB gift cards... imagine if GR moved out and you're stuck with BB credit??

Yea, I mean, take the article with a grain of salt, but it does do a really good job explaining things, and I've encountered alot of those problems myself (how there used to be a dedicated GR staff, and now it's just Blockbuster CSRs instead, they are late getting games, they have no clue about the games they sell).

And that picture of what Gamerush was supposed to look like and be? It looks almost like Gamestop, I'm disappointed that they just kind of shoveled it into Blockbuster. I mean, once you go into the store, there really is no difference between Gamerush / Blockbuster anymore.
imagine if GR moved out and you're stuck with BB credit??
Yuck, that means I'll have to buy all my new DVD's at BB (at $22) for the rest of my life :D.

Dan, Mike, and Ned end on their opinions about what's happening to Blockbuster. They've all read about how Blockbuster is losing money and blaming it on "the end of late fees." Ned notes that they never made too much off late fees since most people got their movies back on time, and many who didn't wiggled their ways out of paying because "outstanding customer service meant waving fees left and right." Dan mentions their prices, "There's no reason to go to GameRush especially. Their selection is small and their prices aren't competitive."

Dan closes simply "the video store market is shrinking. Why pay their bloated retail prices and wait in line when you don't have to? Game wise I'd rather go to GameStop, because I know they're going to have big name games on release day and will actually have my preorders. As far as GameRush, why go there?"

Here's another part of the article. I think they are being a little too highly critical of the GR prices vs Gamestop. I mean, if GR was this bad, this thread on CAG wouldn't exist. I have purchased VERY little at GS because their prices do indeed suck, whereas GR has great deals (usually :D). Besides the quick mention of using the trade 3 for $10 flipping, this article completely fails to mention the preorder and other trade-in deals, not to mention the much better trade-in prices that GR has.

And I have seen plenty of families come into GR and buy games at full retail with cash. It is no worse than going to Walmart and paying their smiley-faced "rollback" price of $49.92 for the newest releases .

Also, if they are trained to flip preorders over to other games (thus boosting apparent preorder numbers and making it look like repeated $50 profit) as the article claims, then the manager of my store didn't get that memo :D. He is very difficult to get to switch preorders.

Traded 2 Geists in to BB today (Superbowl Sunday) in the SF East Bay area for $24 each. I was wondering, however, since there are no GRs in at least a 50 mile radius from me, is there any way to get new hardware (360, PSP, etc) or even specific new games for the cube through BB? They don't have a very wide selection for Nintendo's little fun box.

Sorry my friend but you aren't able to do that since most BB's only sale used games. My suggestion is if you find something that you actually want to play on GC you should rent it and see how much it states it will cost to "Own It" and just pay the difference also if they have the case and manual ask for it after you buy it. When you do that the price of the game is what it would cost used for sale at BB.

You could always drive 9 hours up to the Wilsonville, OR GR. Or I guess you could go to one of the 100 SoCal ones - probably a better choice. But then neither option is probably worth it :D. If you happen to be travelling there anyway though, bring your value card. I was through SoCal with the family in December and wish I had time to visit the GR's there. They have a wealth of locations and inventory down there, they don't know how good they have it. I'm surprised they haven't put at least a few in the Bay Area.

Well, if GameRush really does shut-down, I'm sure they will have a going-out-of-business sale. Although, it may go by a store by store basis. I just hope it lasts until the PS3 (since I kinda want to use my $200 credit....or whatever I have on my card...I forget now). I know I have 8 360 games on order....I just want to get those.
