Gamestop/EB Games -- B2 get 4 free DVDs

I was shopping for a game last night and I overheard two employees discussing an internal email. They were reading it from the monitor -- buy 2 used DVDs and get 4 free... It stacks with the edge card but not with the employee discount apparently. I don't have any more detail but someone that has ties to an employee or two needs to look it up...

The employees at 1 of the 2 stores in my area having the sale, had already went through and selected all the movies they wanted. They had 1 and 1/2 whole racks full over a week ago, now they barely have the 1 rack full. There is a box in the back of that store with all of the employee holds. I'm not even gonna try to get it on this deal. Pointless when you got places like slickdeal/fatwallet plus all the employees swiping everything up early. I don't blame the employees though, crap job with crap pay and crap hours, you take whatever perk you can.

That aside.perhaps there just clueless about this. i'd still like a list of eligible stores if anyone could possibly post one. I do have stores that are slightly further away that I wouldnt mind traveling to........if this deal is going on there.
 
There is no "nationwide list" that can be posted. The emails were sent out by district. So if you want to know if your local Gamestop is having this sale call them. If they are keeping it "close to the vest" then you might need to wait until the 25th to call them.
 
The Gamestop that I originally overheard the discussion of the email in said they were getting a huge shipment of DVDs from Richardson... It could mean another store, but it doesn't make sense to move a shipment to another store that is three hours away in a much smaller town. I suspect, instead, that there has been some "centralizing" of inventory and perhaps they will be moving stocks out to specific stores from a warehouse location. That's just a guess, though. If anyone knows anything more on this topic it would be good to hear...
 
None of the stores in the Tulsa/Broken Arrow are doing this... I did, however, pick up Superbad, Good Luck Chuck, Cars and Condemned on blu-ray for 30.00 with my edge card and the b2g2 free deal.

Gamestop has been trying to consolidate their DVD stock mainly to stores that are good at selling them, as well as just getting rid of them in general.

Some stores have stopped taking DVDs as trades at all, and those same stores are sending the discs that they already have over to other stores.

Although, the one near me is only sending their DVDs a few miles away, so I don't know what's up with your store, but maybe they are REALLY good at selling DVDs, or maybe they have a large storage area in back, or something.
 
I went to my local Gamestop and they only have the typical b2g2 free. Kinda sucks b/c they had all of the Futurama sets.

Sorry about that, I thought that the b2g4 was starting today since they usually start their weekly promotions on Sunday. I'll have to go check it again tomorrow.
 
i didnt get buy 2 get 4 because i just found this thread but i cleaned out my store of 8 movies on buy 2 get 2 spending around 60 bucks
 
Will they start when the doors open? Last couple of times I have went for deals, I have gone when the door opens and they havent "started" the deals yet. Frustrating

The guys at my local gamestop didn't know anything about any buy 2 get 4 free thing going on tomorrow.... they were even setting up the new marketing stuff, and they didnt have anything that said buy 2 get 4 for the dvds.

maybe it's only at select locations..... but i guess we'll all find out for sure tomorrow.

Damn. Some of you were able to get BluRays through the B2G2 deal?!

I tried to buy a bunch when I was back in the States for the holidays but the guy said that the sale was ONLY for DVDs, not BluRay/HD-DVD. Argh!

b2G4 is for select stores only. HD and BR is included. If they tell you that they are not, ask them to ring it up, and total. The register will mark them down.
 
Stopped by a GS this morning and tried the deal. Apparently it is select stores only, after he rung up 2 HD DVDs and 4 Blu-Rays, only two were free. He told me he also didn't think Blu-Rays were part of the deal even at the stores that are doing it.

Oh well, the stores were I live have very few hi-def discs to begin with so finding 6 total that I want would be next to impossible (I was going to pick up a 2 or 3 for Ebay to help pay for the other 3-4 discs)

The only Gamestop in the South Shore area of MA that has this deal going appears to be the Crescent Plaza Gamestop in Brockton, MA. :whistle2:(
 
Doesn't look good for any Twin Cities GS, at least in the north metro, if not everywhere. Stopped by the two Northtown GS and the Brooklyn Park one, nada. Asked an employee I'm familiar with at one of the Northtown locations, and he said he didn't know of any GS in the area that had this going on (the only he thought might was Riverdale, but he called there and they still have B2G2).

I wish the store close to me had Blu-ray discs. I never see any there, though I never really have looked that closely to the used DVD section. Maybe, I should take a walk over later in the day.
 
Out of the four Gamestops within driving distance of me two don't carry dvd's anymore and the other two are only doing b2g2 :whistle2:(

I wish the bluray selection has been better at the stores I went to. The employees had already horded everything! I have 1 store to go to later so hopefully they have more blurays!
 
There are a lot of Gamestops in my area--I went to the one with the most DVDs (half of them without original boxes, all of them faded and looking like they've been kicked to hell and back) and they did not have the deal. I'll check another later...

Has anyone seen signage in the stores about this?

There's signage at the stores that are doing this deal. It seems about 25% of the stores are doing it. If only all of them were...

Luckily I called my mom in Richmond, VA and she snagged 18 Blurays/HD DVDs at a few different stores for around $100. Woo MOM!
 
there are 5 eb/gs stores within 20 minutes of where i live (elyria OH) so i went to all of them. of the 5 only 2 were doing the promotion but i got some decent stuff.

i paid 48 bucks after tax for 14 dvds. ghostbusters 1&2 came in a single pack and i bought feast seperately for 1.99 heh. i wish there were more tv shows but i wasn't going to buy any if i couldn't find 6 of them. when they had the buy 2 get 2 i got futurama and southpark seasons though.

I'm not too sadden by this as almost all stores only have a few blu-rays left anyway, and I was looking at their regular DVD prices and wow...pretty pathetic. A lot of $9.99 movies that are really only worth $3 anyway...so its not really even much of a great deal at B2G4.
 
Anyone in the Columbus Ohio region get this to work? I've been to a couple of them and they're just doing the B2G2. Also, anyone in the same area see any with HD/Blurays?
 
If the return policy for used movies is the same for used games...how about buy the ones that you want and return them within 7days (hopefully by this time your GS will have the deal) to take advantage of the B2G4 free?

I am going to sell 1 if not both Star Treks and maybe Desperate Housewives...I don't really like the show AT ALL, but if I can work it out so everything is free I am happy. I really only really wanted the 3 High Definition discs. *shrug*
