Gamestop/EB Games -- B2 get 4 free DVDs

kenn

CAGiversary!
I was shopping for a game last night and I overheard two employees discussing an internal email. They were reading it from the monitor -- buy 2 used DVDs and get 4 free... It stacks with the edge card but not with the employee discount apparently. I don't have any more detail but someone that has ties to an employee or two needs to look it up...
I just found out that a X-Files Season 4 set I bought from gamestop in this deal was a pirated copy from china. It got pulled from ebay and now im pissed that gamestop was selling pirated crap.

What can I do?
Return it. I think you have 7 days on used items.
How could you tell the box set was pirated?
Chinese writing is all over it as is English and Ebay pulled the listing saying that anti-piracy is not allowed. It also doesnt have an isbn number on it anywhere.
Any NYC CAGers find this promotion running? Preferably Queens. Thanks.
The only GS in Manhattan that is running this is the one on 1st Avenue and 19th. When I got there, the place had been ransacked but, there was still some things that peaked my interest. Now, there is just about nothing. When I left, there couldn't have been more than 20 DVDs left, no box sets, yet a few HD-DVDs. And I only bought 12 movies.

The HD-DVDs were:

Three copies of King Kong @ $9.99
Superman Returns (unpriced)
Some movie with a few rappers in it @ $17.99
Blades of Glory @ $17.99

Glen Cove Road in Carle Place (Nassau County, NY) appears to only have b2g2
same with the Hemsptead Tpke in East Meadow location
just a heads up for any curious CAGs in the area!
Are they trying to get out of the used DVD market?
According to my friend that works there, yes. All the stores are going to have the sale eventually.

If you noticed the writing on it..why did you buy it?

The GS near Purdue is only doing B2G2. When asking an employee if it is/was B2G4 like the other stores, he looked at me weird and said that "It has always been B2G2 for the past couple of months and we do the same sales as the whole company. So you must mean B2G2." I just politely walked away because I know uninformed people when I see them and don't care to deal with them. But before I left the store, I heard the employee as his manager about the B2G4, and the manager said that it only is at stores that were told to get rid of their DVD inventory. I turned around, smiled, and left.

after exchanging at different gamestops i ended up with:

norbit (br)
batman begins (hd)
untouchables (br)
king kong (hd)
smokin' aces (hd)
good shepherd (hd)

after edge total came out to $35.05. $6 per movie is a helluva deal!

Nice, a Long Island CAG! :) For the Suffolk peeps:

The Medford (County Road 101 and Station Rd.) and Shirley (Montauk Hwy. and William Floyd Pkwy., Southport Shopping Ctr.) stores are still at B2G2. :(

I'm sad Gamestop is phasing out the DVD section because I got quite a few wrestling DVDs for $1.99 at my local store (Medford) every so often.

Nice LI CAGer!

I live in Flushing, but frequently go to Minado's in that center to chow down... did they have any blu movies there?

I went to three different Gamestops today and came away with the following...

Curse of the Golden Flower (BR)
The Fifth Element (BR)
Ghost Rider (BR)
Casino Royale (BR)
Spider-Man 3 (BR)
Species (BR)
The Devil's Rejects (BR)
Polar Express (HD)
Pulse (HD)
Apollo 13 (HD)
The Hulk (HD)
Aeon Flux (HD)
Miami Vice (HD)
Flags of our Fathers (HD)
King Kong (HD)

The Wire - Season 4
The Exorcism of Emily Rose
Ong - Bak

Total ~ 120.00

2/3 Gamestops told me that the offer did not extend to HD or Blu Ray and all were wrong. I told them to check and all rang up free.

Havent found any store doing B2G4 free yet.

Checked:
Moreno Valley Mall
Moreno Valley East (Near Nason St.)
Canyon Springs (Next to Day St.)

It took three Gamestops to find this deal, and when I found it, the stock was pretty much cleared out, I couldn't find even one dvd that I wanted. Oh well.
I was there earlier and couldn't find more than two DVDs I actually wanted.
I know the feeling. I got excited when I saw the store closest to me had the B2G4, but they had utter trash, plus no high-def stuff.

I've raped the fuck out of my stores that are doing it. A thing of curosity, two stores have DVDs in the back because they have such a massive amount. One store brought them out to the front and the other is waiting on cardboard boxes to put them in. I can't wait.

How have you raped this deal question?
How have you raped this deal question?
Oh, well, I mean I've just bought a bunch of DVDs.
No duplicates or DVDs bought for the intention of making a profit though.

no good stuff in the nearby stores that had the deal. One store had the buy 2 get 2 and I hid some stuff for if the thing ever changes

they had:
Superman (original) hd dvd - $17
Harry Potter hd dvd - $17
2001 space odyssy HD DVD - $14
Spiderman 3 bluray - $17

Got in on this deal in my area...in Jacksonville, FL and Orange Park, Fl, there are three stores doing this on the westside...two on Blanding Blvd and one in the Walmart shopping center on 103rd Street. The locations inside the Orange Park mall are not doing this, and the location on Normandy Blvd is only doing B2G2

Here's what I scored:

SNL: Best of Chris Farley
My Girl
Braveheart
Cold Mountain
25th Hour
Simply Irresistible
The Addams Family
Black Sheep
SNL: Best of Molly Shannon
The One
Undercover Brother
Can't Hardly Wait
Along Came Polly
In Good Company
The World's Fastest Indian
Johnny English
Battle of Britain
The Gift

All for around $50. There wasn't anything else I deemed buyable in those stores, but the rack was pretty full on both sides in all three locations; I'm gonna check 'em out every 2-3 weeks or so to see if anything new came in, the first guy suggested that b/c they are recieving new stock eventually to liquidate it.

Fellow "strong" islanders, have you heard that in awhile, The gamestop in Islandia shopping center exit 57 on the lie in the town of Islandia has only the b2g2 deal. But I got the original wicker man, kicking and screaming, million dollar baby and the interpreter for $16.

The parking lot at Roosevelt Field is such a pain in the ass. I kinda feel like a mall-based location would be less likely to have the deal anyway, but you never know.

I have yet to have the time to go by Roosevelt. That place is a nightmare sometimes.

I'll check the Carle Place one again... doubt I'll find anything.

I called one the day of and was told no go, I was in there yesterday and he said they did it and it was for just a single weekend. What a joke.

Do you have glitter? Do you know where their magazine racks are?

If so, you know what needs to be done.

So is this still going on or is it dead now? Any Maryland CAGers wanna gimmie a heads up on which stores are running this deal?
All 4 stores in the Ann Arbor area are B2G2 booo, there are some pretty solid box sets out there too.
Yep, as I said earlier.....I dont think any store in MI is doing the B2G4. Which is complete BS.

fuck michigan gamestops, what kinda crap is that, one store has 3 seasons of niptuck, amd 3 of seinfeld if the b2g4 free was goin on id be in heaven.

No kidding. One of my local stores has like 20+ tv boxsets. Thinks I saw a few seasons of The Shield and Lois and Clark that I wouldnt mind picking up if the sale was going on.

I had to spend about an hour looking through one rack of DVDs to find anything I wanted but in the end I got some good stuff. For $20 I walked away with:

-Feast
-The Amityville Horror 1,2,3
-Altered
-Land of the Dead
-Death Trance
-Children of Men

It's great being able to get all these horror movies which I wouldn't want to pay full price for. It's especially great how Gamestop's computer doesn't have most of these films in their database so they mark them at bargain prices. Feast was only $1.99! That's awesome.

So the deal is still going on. I might have to check though in WI most people have not clue what Blu ray is.......

OK in case no one else has heard.

I was speaking with a GS rep and he said that there are certain stores that, for one reason or another, will no longer be carrying movies.
THOSE ARE THE ONLY STORES THAT ARE HAVING THE B2G4. ALL OTHERS HAVE THE B2G2.

Of the 5 stores near me 2 of them stopped taking movie trade-ins a while back and they will no longer carry them. I was told that is the reason they have the B2G4 and the others have B2G2.

If anyones in the area, I just went to the Margate, Florida store in Peppertree Plaza, and they had the B2G4 deal. I bought 12 DVDs myself today. Sadly, they didn't have any BD or HD-DVDs though. For those of you that are Inuyasha fans, they had tons of them there.

I went back to a Gamestop that was running this deal hoping that they ended up putting more stock out, but no such luck. Two less shelfs with the same junk. Nothing worth picking up.

I went back to check out my locations on Blanding Blvd in Jacksonville, FL. The two locations had nothing new and not worth going thru. However, when I was able to by my workplace, I went to the locations on Southside Blvd. First place had no DVD's, the other had the B2G4, not much but I found enough to justify a purchase

I got:

Superman Returns
Legend of Zorro
Ernest Rides Again
Daredevil
Anything Else
An American Tail

for ~17$...mostly trade fodder at MovieStop later, but not bad

in charlotte, the only gamestop i've come across that is running this sale, is the one at the arboretum, on 51/pineville-matthews rd. i just saw it today, but their selection is pretty shitty
is this deal still going on?
They still had the signage up yesterday but like I said previously... they had jack squat.

Hit the same Blanding Blvd location in Jacksonville, FL b/c I was getting a gift card for a friend and luckily they still had a used copy of From the Earth to the Moon still there for 29.99; I am going to give it as a gift to my uncle for his birthday, so I decided to grab whatever I could/whatever was valuable enough to trade later.

I grabbed:

From the Earth to the Moon 29.99 - 3.00 Edge Card =26.99
Quest For Camelot 7.99- .80 Edge Card = 7.19
The Animatrix FREE (Hadn't seen it yet, thought I'd check it out)
Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me FREE (Didn't have it, surprisingly for how I much I love those movies)
Jersey Girl FREE (Love Kevin Smith, thought I'd try it though I've heard it's not that great, couldn't hurt for free)
Pink Panther FREE (thought I'd try it though I've heard it's not that great, couldn't hurt for free)
