Just to add some info, our store got in sealed copies of Persona 4. Haven't seen them in a LONG time. Good chance they are part of the Game Days.

MUST...FIND...$xx.xx

I've been looking for this forever, can't buy it online :(

AWESOME!
hmm.. which Persona 4 version? psp or ps2?

seem pretty weak this year.
I don't think a Persona 4 PSP version exists.

I just need a way to buy it in store since I don't buy anything online.
I love Persona 4, and I can't wait to finally own it. Love the soundtrack too :applause:
Technically, it's a newsed copy you'd be getting, unless you specifically ask for a SEALED copy. Otherwise, you'll get a copy that comes out of a paper sleeve that has been manhandled by the employees with a case, artwork and manual that's been made grubby by the unwashed masses(namely soccer moms and their whiny fuckin' brats).
I always ask for a sealed copy, and if they don't have any left, I walk out. I wish everyone would do that, b/c then they'd stop opening those new copies.

But that's the thing, since the bulk of Gamestop's clientele don't give a shit as much as we do about stuff being complete.:cry:

Just checking to be sure...I bought something from a gamestop out of town, came home and the game doesn't work. I can take it back to a local gamestop for a credit refund without any probs right?

Forgive me if this has been gone over already in this thread...

I get your point there, but how does it benefit GameStop to open every new copy of a game that they get in, or at least as many as they regularly do?... There must be some remotely good reason on their end for opening multiple copies of new games and putting them into CD sleeves...

mabey theyve had games stolen happens all the time at my walmart
mabey theyve had games stolen happens all the time at my walmart
Really? At Walmart the games (the ones worth money) are behind locked glass usually, and my understanding is they have over effect anti-theft devices on their merchandise, especially with games and dvds that often go off even when the costumers have paid for them. On top of that, you can't leave the electronics department with anything from that department without paying for it there, the last I heard. One local Walmart even has full time employees to watch the exits of the electronics department!

Many people who work at gamestop have already said it's anti theft, and the reason it seems stupid is because workers don't follow the guidelines that they are supposed to "everything in the lockbox/drawer which stays locked at all times". its cheaper to put one that holds disk compared to one that holds boxes. if you dont like it buy elsewhere, or online.

(can we make a gamestop complain thread, cause i get games from them alot and i have to spend like 3x as long reading every threads about them, because they sell opened [or employee played or just plane used] games as new)

PS.

Rawrker : is your avatar supposed to be an adorable pizza? i have seen it like 6 times an always wonder why a pizza is gawking at me.

I think their should be an official GameStop sucks thread. But sometimes I think I'm the only one who has any gripes. I don't see much of that complaining that I hear goes on so much around here, and I don't think I ever have. But instead it's almost like I get jumped for saying anything bad about the store - "OMG if U h8 it so much don't shop ther!!!" No, I think it really sucks a big one in most cases, but I will continue to shop there because I have a very limited number of alternatives. Therefore I will continue to complain until they get it right, if more of their customers did, I imagine they might reconsider some of their crappier business practices.
There must be some remotely good reason on their end for opening multiple copies of new games and putting them into CD sleeves...
Maybe so...

BUT I have a serious gripe with this practice.

I am a HUGE stickler when it comes to scratches or marks on my game CD.

One thing I have noticed is that sometimes the sleeves some stores use to put these games in have a glue that sometimes permanently marks itself to the CD. Its like a line.

Doesn't happen all of the time, and it may or may not affect gameplay in the long run, but it still pisses me off.

So I always check the CD to make sure this 'line' isnt present. Of course, new unopened stuff that hasnt been put into those sleeves are fine.

One, the reason you might get "jumped" for saying anything about GS is people are tired of it. Every GameStop thread turns into, "OMG, they open games and sell them as new!" Or "They give $30 for a new game and sell it for $55!" Everyone on CAG knows these things already. We care to some extent, but it doesn't matter to us. We use GS when it is good for us. If you want to complain about GS, go ahead, but don't do it in deal threads, and even if you do it elsewhere, be prepared for people who simply don't care. Their opinion is equal to yours.

Two, complaining about this stuff on this board isn't going to do a lick of difference. CAGs are a vast minority of GameStop's customers. Even if every, single one of us never shops there again, they will be fine.

I remember when I used to think that way about soccer moms and their whiny brats. So much anger toward the breeding culture. Then I had kids, and it's strange how it changed my perspective. Now I lust after the MILFs and smile at the kids, even when they're whiny. But I digress...

I agree that it's a ridiculous policy to gut the new games. If more people were actually aware and cared that GS does this, the practice would stop. But they're getting away with it. I like the Gameday sales, if for no other reason that they have to put out loads of real NEW games in the bins (usually $30 and under) that are untouched by those unwashed masses.
Gamestop never guts their PC games...... I wonder why that is.
I've purchased a gutted PC game from Gamestop before. It was only a couple bucks.

I did, too. I think it was Etherlords II for $4.99. Man, that game was awesome!
For $20? Not a chance in hell.
Unless you go to Sears where the PS3 version of Fallout 3 GOTY is 19.97

Every pc game I've bought from GameStop has been gutted. But then I don't buy many pc games from them and only when the price has been drastically reduced.

I know this isnt for sure, but does anyone know if the list will have games for multiple systems? For example, i want AC2 and i got the credit for it but it says for 360. Anyone think it'll be for ps3 also for the sale?

That's because a corporation as large as Gamestop is too motherfuckin' cheap to do like Toys R'Us does and buy some empty game cases and either pay for or request the same 'rating pending' display coverart like TRU uses in those empty cases on their shelves.

Apparently, spending a cent or two on a case(which could be re-used) and artwork for games they have out on display costs too much as opposed to taking live stock and gutting it and using the case/manual/artwork from those.

Hell. They could even use the empty ratty ass cases that some of the rejects trading in dog chewed games/cases bring in. At least then they wouldn't be further clogging up a landfill with that sort of crap and actually getting some use out of the items.
Gamestop never guts their PC games...... I wonder why that is.
Maybe at your stores they don't but at the local ones here the PC games are gutted just like the rest of the 'new' games on the shelf.

I don't know how effective it is, but I always try to fill out the customer surveys linked to reciepts. On them I always list my big beefs with GS (gutted games, price stickers inside the plastic on the spine of the covers, etc.). Like I said, not sure how effective it is, but it makes me feel better than ranting on a message board.

Bottom line though is that if GS has a good enough deal with Gameday sales or B2G1 or trade-in promos, I can overlook their warts.

And as much as we complain about GS, at least they stopped using those damn yellow stickers that EB would put on cases and manuals.
Maybe at your stores they don't but at the local ones here the PC games are gutted just like the rest of the 'new' games on the shelf.
There's one store (out of the many near me) that does not gut PC games. For that reason alone they get all of my GS PC business even though it's 20 miles away (and I only go there if there's another reason I'm in that area).

Those ones sucked as much as the old HWV ones. Both were impossible to get off of the cases.

I do like that they've changed their 'generic game art' to a blander black and white label with the game name instead of the color picture with "anime-like" kids.

Makes the color clash on walls less of a headache.

Weird.

Yeah, I've been to a TON of Gamestops in DFW but have never seen gutted PC games.
Thanks for the info.

I hope persona 4 does go on this list, back a week or so ago when it was 19.99 my local gamestops had 0 copies, now the three in the area have new copies :|

Going to pick up disgaea 3. Is there a good chance there will be a lot of "new" copies? Because I dont think I'll have time to get there early.

The good games have a tendency to go fast, at least at the gamestops I've been to. But they might have copies for a couple days.

A friend of mine works at a GameStop in Morris, IL. He told me they havnt even recieved the full list of the games for this sale . He also told me the recieved a drastic amount of new copies of Uncharted: Drake's Fortune and Build a Bear for DS. He said Build a Bear has been part of GameDay sales before, but i'd honestly be pretty surprised if a popular game like Uncharted 1 was included.

It seems very likely that Persona 4 will be on there. It dropped in price a week ago, as you had mentioned, and then went back to regular price a few days later. And with the earlier report of a store getting several copies in, this might be further proof that it's part of the sale.

Sold out here :(
But that is what I was thinking of when I was hoping it was GOTY edition. After all, I could get the original for less than 19.99 easily.
