Went to 6 stores, only 3 of them had PS2 games even though all had them earlier this year. It's worth mentioning that the 3 that didn't have any were mall stores. The ones that did have PS2 games had their selection cut down to less than half of what it was not long ago. That said, it seems they've consolidated other store's stock into it; one Gamestop that I had pretty much tapped out had some exciting additions. I ended up with:

Suikoden V
Soulcalibur III
Jak 3 (free)
Super Monkey Ball Deluxe (free)
Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal
SSX Tricky
Jak II (free)
GRAW (free)

Along with a new copy of the Sakura Wars premium edition, and Polarium and Henry Hatsworth for DS. I had been holding out on grabbing the last Jak & Ratchet games since I figured an HD rerelease was inevitable, but with this promotion why not.

Picked up...

Yakuza
Nobunaga's Ambition Rise to Power
Romance of the Three Kingdoms X
Dynasty Warriors 4 XL

All complete in good shape. Was contemplating on some more games, but the condition was kind of meh.

:O i want a dot hack quarantine.

the closest gamestop that has one near me is in Compton California.

Where the crips and the bloodz play...

Thanks OP, awesome deal. Most GameStops around here are cleaned out or sent out their games already but I lucked out today.

Nothing was on the floor at Aliso Viejo, CA (one by the theater) but the manager printed a list of the stuff in back waiting to be shipped out. Glad I asked, found a bunch of stuff:

Yakuza 2
Xenosaga III
Mana Khemia: Alchemists of Al-Revis
Odin Sphere
Giants: Citizen Kabuto
Chulip
Gungriffon Blaze
Arcana Heart (returned, didn't notice a crease on art)

I left behind a nice, complete Atelier Iris 3. Paying for the toll road was definitely worth it.

Went in Monday and tried picking up all three Prince of Persia games and Sonic Mega Collection+. Now I haven't shopped at a Gamestop in YEARS and as I was about to make the transaction and I asked the guy if I could see the discs.

He rolled his eyes and said sure. So he flips them over really quickly all at the same time and I go "hold on man let me see those again". I look at the Sands of Time game and oh my god, that poor poor disc..

He tries to tell me that since I put them up there that I can either pick up a new game to swap or buy the ones up there already and that because the transaction has already started I have to buy something.

I look at him like he is crazy(because he is), I laugh at him, and I leave. Thankfully this Gamestop is on the other side of town for me so I am not going to be down there very often as it is.

I didn't hear anything about this last week. I bought more than 2 games from Game Stop last week and didn't get anything free. I bought:

PS2:
Half-Life
Capcom vs. SNK 2
Soul Calibur III
Castlevania: Lament of Innocence

GC:
Soul Calibur II
Sonic Gems Collection

All these I bought have the original case / artwork and manual in them. It's hard to find these games CIB at a Game Stop. Only thing that bugs me is the poor cases and the blasted Game Stop putting to many damn stickers / tags on the game cases.

I also bought Silent Hill 2 for PS2 off eBay CIB for $13. Never played the series before but I heard SH2 is a must!

That hurts me too. These poor discs. Who were the original owners? I probably have on or two discs that have some major scracthes. Is there anything that can clean or remove these scracthes?

I always hear toothpaste, but I have never tried it. I know there are also buffer machines people use.

Was hoping this would be GC games, but I think I'll have to wait until the WiiU is out for that to happen.

silent hill 2 and 3 is coming to ps3 and xbox 360 in HD

I'm having a hard time deciding whether or not I should buy SMT: Nocturne, SMT: DDS 1 + 2, and Xenosaga III with this deal. They're all complete and in great shape (and at the same store even ), but the first three are obviously the reprinted copies. I've also got such a huge backlog of games for everything from the SNES forward, I'm not sure that I'll ever actually play any of them.

I don't know if it's been said before but the GameStop I called said that this is pretty much going on until it no longer has PS2 games to sell, so no time limit it looks like :).

Found a complete in great shape copy of God Hand at a local Gamestop. Didn't find much else so I just used a power up $5 off coupon. Happy about the find!

Has anyone tried their hand at flipping the 99 cent sports games at Best Buy, wanted to see if in fact Best Buy does get at least $1 for each PS2 game.

yes, and when you use the madden promo you basically triple the investment.

Picked up 103 games today with only one dupe. Paid $52.20 in GS credit. ($.50679/game)

FYI, there are 114 PS2 games in the GS system for $.99 each.

And you're trading them all into Best Buy? That's gonna take all day, especially with them having to inspect every disc and look each up by name since they have no barcodes to scan. Good luck with that, haha.

I'm planning on splitting it up between a couple, and hoping that they don't bother checking all 51-57 discs at each one.

Its not that bad. I did 42 at a shot today. Only took about half and hour. Would have taken less time but he was helping people with price checks and stuff while he was doing the trade

You must have better employees than my BB does, haha.

Though you need to remember that you must have a game case with cover insert. Manual is not required. Looking at a couple of gamestops yesterday, there are probably a max of 3 to 5 games that are in a condition that Best Buy would accept. You can do it, but time vs. benefit may not be worth it. I would be weary of trading disc only....not all best buys are going to accept that.

it just doesnt seem like the effort is worth it with gas and time as a good 60% will prolly have some scratches and knowing best buy you will need luck on your side or someone who dont care. even then at 1$ a game your only getting 40-50$ tops max if they take everything no issues. plus you got gas for driving around. seems like a lot just for coming out with maybe 40$ after all is said and done.

Although I'm sure you guys will watch the registers anyway, I wanted to warn everyone about something. This morming they raised the price of SMT: Nocturne from $30 to $35. Thankfully they didn't change the price on the case, but it had been changed in the computer. I saw Tales of the Abyss went up $5 as well. If you're on the fence on some harder to find stuff, you may want to speed up your decision.

@4tygames - That may be the case in your area, but that isn't the case everywhere. I traded in an Oblivion 5th anv. for full value with nothing more than the game disc, the manual, and a DVD case (and the rebate because I thought it would be hilarious). I brought those in to increase my chances, but she basically said she thought I was going to just hand her the disc.

Was going to pick up:
Xenosaga 3
Kingdom Hearts 2
Okami
FF 12

then realized I don't feel like spending $40
:/

I don't see any 0.99$ used ps2 game in GS website..

You can trade in discs by themselves just fine. For these cheap ps2 games you get from Gamestop, you can hand them over in the orange sleeve GS gives you. I'd just recommend tearing the part with the price off first.

Hit up several Gamestops to stock up for the deal. Scary that most of the titles were complete and with discs that looked great. My haul w/price points in case people were looking for ideas for their purchases:

I picked up Nocturne tonight. After PUR discount it came to $31.49, so an additional $1.50. As for $0.99 games, I found two jampacks at that price point.

Picked up for a total of $62.57 complete with manuals:
SMT: Digital Devil Saga
SMT: Digital Devil Saga 2
SMT: Nocturne
Godzirra Unleashed

I saw plenty of rare games but I either already had them or they were missing manuals:
Dark Alliance 2
Sniper Elite
Okami
Tales of the Abyss
Obscure
Ico
Tales of Legendia :bomb:
Street Fighter Alpha Anthology
Fatal Frame
Fatal Frame II
Fatal Frame III
Risk

I talked to the manager and he said that he was ordered to convert some of the new titles to used, but he hasn't gotten to that list yet. Also he mentioned this sale is going "through the end of this cycle" and mentioned September 11th. He said he was not sure about after that.

Thanks for the response, if you wouldn't mind, when you finish up the trade, let me know how it turns out? Would hate to go through all that effort and not get the $1 per game. My gamestop has a ton of used PS2 games I could use, and the bestbuy is literally 100 feet away so it isnt a huge deal.

Minimum value for any ps2 game in BB's system is $1. You'd get $1.25 for each game if you trade in more than 2, or $1.40 for each if you pre-order any game. There's a gamestop right next to bestbuy where I live... I might just try this for a quick $20 turn around.

Thanks buddy, and they have the extra 50 when you pre-order madden too, till the 27th.

Sniper Elite worth it? I know there's a Wii version and an original Xbox version. The only actual sniper game I've played was the Silent Scope series.

Well, technically it was $4.50 more (before tax) since you would have received a PUR discount on the old price as well ;)

Speaking of which, I just couldn't bring myself to get the paid rewards card in order to save another $6 on the games. There was a time when I loved Game Informer magazine and the 10% discount it gave you, but I simply don't shop there enough anymore to justify the subscription fee.

I've also got a favor to ask for anyone that is looking for a final game to fill out their $5.99 orders. Do you have a complete, good condition copy of MS Saga near you (sadly they're nowhere to be found in Omaha)? I would gladly pick it up for $6 from anyone that can get ahold of one. http://www.gamestop.com/browse/storesearch.aspx?sku=939299&CCTest=1

thanks op, picked up FFX and XII, .hack infection, and star ocean TTEOT all for $24 and change. pretty pathetic that this is the only way i'll go gamestop after that whole dues ex "scandal" haha

Question: I don't regularly shop at Gamestop, so I'm a little unsure, but is it feasible to purchase games at one store and combine them at another for the b2g2? One store nearby has Fatal Frame 2 + SMT Nocturne, another has Fatal Frame 1 and 3 and I'd like to get all four without much of a fuss.

Buy full price at one store do a return rebuy at the second store.

hard to find 4 ps2 games. wish they did B2G2 on ps2, gamecube, and gameboy.[/QUOTE]

Agree. I went to two stores here in southwest Ohio this week. Both had TONS of PS2 games. Only problem? 75% were in generic cases and probably the other 10% were missing manuals leaving very few complete games and even less in good condition. I'm getting fed up with this disc or cart only bullshit.
