GAMESTOP: Save $25 on any new game $29.99 or higher when trading select titles.
may dump Left 4 Dead 2 for $25, do we get it on a giftcard? or have to buy something?
That's what I'd like to know cuz if it's like that one glitched promo a while back where if you traded in a game from a select list you got '$20 off anything in the store' but you could just act like it was a normal trade-in and wait till they hit total and then just ask for it to be put on your EDGE card. I probably made about $200 in credit that way.;)
The offer says it lasts until 4/25. This is good because I just got L4D2 shipped to me from Gamestop in a condition that I don't really like from that sale a week or so back.
You do realize they allow you to do in-store returns of website purchases and you could've gone into a local GS store and hand picked a copy that didn't look like someone cleaned it with a belt sander, right?
a lil off topic, but i asked to trade a game of equal value sealed brand new, cuz i had another copy as a gift (LBP and GOTY) but they said "no receipt, no fair keep", bad rhyme, but i meant without a receipt they thought my new game was stolen and wouldnt trade it without...

i even said id take a used game $10 less, but nada....thank god for manhattan
Never ever EVER go in with SEALED games to try to trade in, unless it's a local shop that knows you(like the one round here where they know I get the shit cheap but I almost always make 2-3x what I paid anyway;)), since the employees at national chains are trained to think that sealed=stolen merchandise.

Actually I did not know that, thanks.

Still, I wasn't completely sure why I bought L4D2 beyond the fact that it was a good deal. I played the demo and I didn't love it. I tend to enjoy story-driven experiences much more than multiplayer-driven games. I think it makes sense for me to just pick up a nice sealed copy of what I really want rather than keep something I'm reluctant to have in my collection.
you can only trade in 1 game for $25 towards the purchase of a game $29.99 or higher?
Dirt 2 and NGS2 would be good trades if you got them at the sears clearance. You would actually make money.
Even better if they drop to $10 this Friday at Sears as part of this month's possible clearance price drops.;)
25 off 30 didn't work on ac2. they said it wouldnt combine with a gamedays sale item.
They said but did they try? If they didn't try, then that means that maybe management told them you 'need' to get something higher prices or not on the GD sale. But it might still work.

I would've went to a different GS and tried again.:D;)

sigh, doesn't work ....
buy another $29.99 ... and exchange later ...

Has anyone tried to trade in Dirt 2 for Wii towards this? It seems like a lot of people are getting it at Blockbuster for $14.99 + B1G1, and saying it'd be a good flip, but it's not on the list of eligible titles for Wii... :/

I had them try it. Bumped AC2 back to 60. So I found Killzone 2 for 29.99 and it worked. I think I'm just gonna keep KZ2, it has a metacritic of 91 but I have so many FPS's.
do you think games will be taken off this list before the end?
Without a doubt there will be some that drop off the list before the end of the promo. They always remove some due to price drops or whatever.

I personally can't stand FPS's. I tried both Resistance games just to see what everyone was raving about and I hated both. Then again, I hated the original Assassin's Creed too. After they spoiled it about 10-20 minutes in, I couldn't stomach it enough to play any further.

About the only FPS I was able to get through at least once was Bioshock and only because you could use other methods of killing enemies(plasmoids, enviro kills like shocking enemies to death when they're in water). Otherwise, I would've hated that game too.
all you have to do is trade in all your games and get the games and ask for gift receipt and return it and then buy all the games you want online. You can save a lot of money with all the promotions going on.
Is this correct? Can you return a game to GS and get credit that you can spend online, and use it with another promotion?

If so, trading in my Eternal Sonata and getting a $60 game for $23 (before shipping & tax, with the 20% off over $49.99 deal) is looking pretty inviting.

Edit: Heck, for that matter, I don't suppose you can just use trade-in credit to shop online in the first place, can you?
25 off 30 didn't work on ac2. they said it wouldnt combine with a gamedays sale item.
I had the same experience from someone I trust, so I had to buy real games to take back later LOL

Well I gave Gamestop another chance, and they completely shit the bed again. No surprise.

Was looking to trade in Tatsunoku vs. Capcom and pick up a copy of Borderlands (360), but neither the manager nor the associate had any idea what the promotion was and they would not let me do it. They claimed that I must need a coupon if it was advertised on the website.

Avoid the Gamestop in Fairless Hills, PA like the plague. It has the most clueless employees in the world.

I printed out the paper with the sale just incase. Luckily the transaction went through although they had to override the system and the workers were smart there and I got Just Cause 2 for PC for $28 with tax. Now if I only didn't have a fucking exam to study for tomorrow :bomb:

you can use your gamestop credit/gift card online or in store. I returned some of my games using the promotion and received a gift card and used it online with promotion.

grabbed an eligible wii title from blockbuster for $10 during b1g1 and traded it in at gamestop for $26 and change (Edge does stack)

I screwed up on my first run of games and didn't double check my reciept. Stupid me for thinking they knew what i was talking about...and not double checking before I left.

All well I am sure that I can find a few more $10 games at BB to get on this deal. Either way I still made out ok just not great.

So how long does everyone give the First Sonic and Mario game before it gets booted off the list?

I could see Tekken 6 also getting kicked off the list. Especially if BestBuy 20 off mixes with an msrp drop later this month...

will gs take a game in a genric case w/ manual for this promo?

found mario and sonic at olympic games @ bbv but it's in generic case.

decided not to buy it since i was unsure if a generic case would qualify for promo

another bbv had the same game marked 19.99 instead of 9.99
weird

also will this 25 off a new game 29.99 promo work on preorders or does it have to be in store?

lol they will take anything. i just peeled off the price tag and traded it in the bbv case. has to be in store and new. have them scan it and it should come out 9.99. the computer auto does it many times.

hmm... i ask the lady at my BBV to scan amrio and sonic at the winter olympics and it came out to 29.99...

here's what i came out with (from 3 different blockbusters) - Queens, NY

These are the ring up prices.
I specifically did them in multiple transactions so that the coupon would apply to my likings. The employees at all the BBV's I went to had no problem with that, and they were actually very nice.

oops, wrong thread... hee heee.

Can I do this?:

Trade in Item #1: Left 4 Dead 2
Trade in Item #2: Assassin's Creed II

Buy New Item #1: Fable II Platinum Hits
Buy New Item #2: Little Big Planet GOTY Edition

Will the system work it so I'll get $50 in TIV towards the purchases?

ONE TRANSACTION?

Interesting. Gamestop has the LBP GOTY edition for $30 new now(like everyone else:bomb:).

Oh well. Looks like my plans on selling my original copy for $40 are borked now. Thanks Sony.:bomb:

Though my copy is one of the initial run with the song that caused a furor with Muslims, I think.

If I can find a copy of one of the qualifying games from Blockbuster's B1G1, I'll try and pick up a copy of the GOTY from GS for $5 due to all of the DLC on it alone.

update

seems like the employees at bbv messed up during the game rental to pre owned transfer

they transfered over the case for mario & sonic Olympic games, but the game was suppose to be sonic and mario at WINTER OYLMPICS...thats why it was ringing up 29.99

so dumb employee grabbed wrong case to put the winter game in during transfer....

oh well
wound it at another store
going to GS tommorrow to pick up a new game!

I had a day today...

Went to BBV and found Dirt 2 for $15, went to ring it up and it was $30 so they price adjusted it. There were no signs for B1G1 and the cashier said nothing about it to me. Went to the other BBV across town and they had it advertised. I got Transformers RotF and Brutal Legend for a friend and then they had Project Sylpheed and Professor Layton and the Curious Village for $5 and $7 respectively. Layton trades into amazon for $18 so I figured for $7.50 I get a game I want and $18 to amazon, heck yeah.

When I left I called the first BBV I told em one store was doing B1G1 and I asked if they were as well and the cashier had to check and he found out they were. So I went back, got Transformers RotF for myself for free because of Dirt 2 and noticed they had two copies of it on PS3 marked at $15 so I took all 3 to the register. What do you know the two PS3 Dirt's rang up incorrectly so they were price adjusted. I left with my 3 games and headed to GameStop and did the trade ins (with intent to return with Gift Receipt). I get in my car and look at my 360 Transformers...empty...

So I called up BBV and told em and they said come back with the receipt and we'll give you the game, so I did. When I get there and get the game the manager asked to see my BBV card and gave me a $6 credit for a free rental which was cool.

So all in all for $37.50 spent, I got $75 to GameStop, $18 to amazon, free movie rental at BBV, and two games for myself. Not too bad if you don't include the headache of going to one BBV three times in a day.

Now I have a question, the manager at the GS said that if the game is returned with the Gift Receipt that they'd have to get a game that's $30 or more, no GC or anything, I find that hard to believe, but I am wondering if anyone has had any experience with this.

He was lying. Just go to another GS or if it's the same GS, go when he isn't there. They'll give you the credit back. If you're lucky, you might even get the refund in cash. Extremely YMMV, though. You kind of need a noobish or uncaring employee for that to happen.

Traded in Mario Super Sluggers and Mario & Sonic at the Olympics and picked up Professor Layton: TDB and LBP GotY (seperate transactions). I'll do a return and get my credit back for the next B2G1. Hopefully, someone trades in FF XIII by then.

but back to the topic....im confused, you can trade ANY ps3 game and get 25 toward another ps3 game on that list, or vice versa (and can u stack coupons aside from the edge or tier thing?) cuz im just dyin to get rida R&C as you know lol

actually im havin trouble followin this thread...what does all this mean and what can you do with the trade and where(i saw BB mentioned ??)

also, can i return a used infamous that was $33, get the refund + ratchet and clank trade and possibly end up with like $60, idk, i just dont get the dea sory

Regarding BBV, many of us are buying Mario Super Sluggers and/or Mario & Sonic at the Olympics and trading them in to GS. BBV is currently having a B1G1 sale on used games $14.99 and under. Each of those games is $9.99. You then have the option of keeping the new game or returning it for store credit.

The games on that list on Gamestop.com are the ones you can trade towards another game $29.99 and up, but as has been mentioned by now I'm sure, you can find some of those for $9.99 and $14.99 during the current B1G1 at Blockbuster. Specifically the Mario & Sonic Olympic ones for Wii.

So essentially, you pick up two games during the BOGO and if both are on that list you should be able to trade in both during the promo to get $50 off of a $29.99 or higher game. But that is YMMV, since they always leave the promos up to the managers discretion.

But during the 'get $20 off any purchase' glitched trade a while back, many of us were able to take 2-3 games in from the list for that and get items that were $60 for essentially the price we paid for those 2-3 games.

For example, I traded in 2-3 copies of various games I got from Hollywood Video for $5 apiece around that time, so in the end I paid $15 for those games and thus paid $15(in my mind) for the $60 item.

As for the return, if you have the receipt or packing slip for inFamous and it's during the 7 day return period on used items, then yes you can do that.

But as for calling to get values ahead of time before going into Gamestop, good luck since I think all of the clerks have been trained to either only give you one TIV over the phone or to tell you 'you have to come in with them'.

flipped SSBB and Mario and SOnic which cost me $16 out of the pocket with tax today dumped both of these for $50 sweet!

Nope. That guy lied. I just returned a game yesterday and the guy at the register gave me cash. Thats what always happens when i return games.

I just got back from one BBV that had Mario and Sonic Olympic Games and Mario Super Sluggers for 10$ each. Had a GC for 10$ that I had found, got both games for 10$, so paid nothing but tax.

It will vary from state to state. I know in Cali, despite your payment method, you still get charged tax on full amount.

Traded in Mario: Super Sluggers and picked up LittleBigPlanet: GOTY. My copy was sealed and a black-label!

The employee had no idea about the deal but after explaining it to him he scanned my trades in (I traded Lego Rock Band for $9.50 as well) and then the new game and it automatically bumped the value of Mario:SS to $25. Had $2 something left in credit.

I was taxed for the full amount of the new game on my purchase.

Hey thanks man. Yeah, I wish they would have taken artists like lil wayne instead.

On topic:

I purchased Super Mario Sluggers from one store and brought it to another store to do a return and rebuy for another copy of SMS at the suggestions of an employee. Tossed those to GameStop for Resonance of fate and preorder Red Dead Redemption. Persistence paid off. Now to dig a little deeper...

All thanks to this wonderful site/community.
