WELCOME TO THE NEW GAMESTOP TRADE-IN THREAD.

The new thread format will be a work in progress but this first post will be the promos that are active and useful information, but also wikified. The second post will currently be frequently asked questions but may move it into the first post. Post three will be historical trade-in values from before the list.

YMMV, depends on the store. I got turned down once for trying to trade in 2 copies of MCC at the Gamestop near my house. A different Gamestop once let me trade in 6 copies (3 on 360/3 on ps3) of MSG V.

Yeah but that's more than one copy on a platform. This would be one on each platform, which is technically within policy but looks fishy.
 
I'm getting in on this today after work.  Can't risk a stealth decrease between now and tomorrow.

GameStop giveth...and GameStop can taketh away.

Got my Minecraft orders in at BBY. Had to do a double take at last gen values.BBY opens in 45 minutes and Im off to pick up my order and return my UC4 ps4. Aiming for a couple hundred in new credit if not more to get all my shiny things paid off.

 
The guy today said he had to go to the back to call his manager to see if he was allowed to give me $620 in credit... seriously?

Also found out the sad way that the tear in my DB: Xenoverse game from BBY meant that some d**kwad snaked out the disk... oh well I still came out ahead from that purchase at BBY.

LOL. At one point i had a gamestop giftcard with $1,730 on it.

 
Good timing, I just spent my last $150 on Amazon giftcards and I can still get rid of The Division/Homefront/Battleborn for $40  :D/

Overwatch trades in at $30 base...awkwardly enough someone already agreed to buy my extra copy for $45. I'd be losing out on $3 but hey cash is cash. 

I'm still haunted by this Toys R Us Giftcard so I'll just go price match some games on sale @bestbuy and flip them over to Gamestop. Might as well pay off a couple games I pre-ordered.

I found one boomerang so far. Halo 5 is $23.84 after pur and trades in for $17.50 base

Found another. Donkey kong country returns 3d trades in for $12.50 base. Costs $15.76 after pur. Donkey kong country tropical freeze is the same

I have a report back from a Target > GameStop flip...

I had success having Target price match Best Buy for Assassin's Creed: Syndicate - $29.99.

Bought one PS4 copy and one XBox One copy. $60 plus tax. The only restriction I was met with was I was told they would only price match one copy of each game, so I couldn't buy more than one of each.

The big thing here is...I still got the $50 Target gift card with the purchase. I've already traded each copy in to GameStop for $32 store credit each.

Final out of pocket math:
$63 Target after tax = $50 Target GC ÷ $64 GameStop credit

Repeat three more times:
$13 out of pocket each time (with using the gift card you get from the previous purchase)

Final tally:
$102 out of pocket
One remaining unused $50 Target GC
$256 GameStop Credit


(Misquoted my own credit earlier. Got more GS credit than I originally said.)

There is an entire boomerang spreadsheet posted a while back.
 
Another option that could be ymmv. Frys is showing forza horizon 2 back in stock for xone for 12.99. It does say day one edition but had no isse pming to bb. Base is 25 as gs.
 
everyone here doing big flips and all I want to do is trade my copy of uncharted 4 CE in but I wanted to buy doom 3 for PC and only 2 gamestops have it in stock near me, both miles away :(

I wonder if doom 3 pc download would count towards the 50% bonus, probably not

Ask them to ship order it to your house? or buy Doom on console and then exchange it for the PC version to be ship ordered to your house? Still technically buying Doom

 
Remember folks hard ban at $2000(might have changed). And that doesn't mean after having traded in $2000 as well, the transaction that puts you over $2000 gets you banned on the spot and you can't complete the transaction. This conjecture from last time.


And don't return uncharted or doom when it's tied to a $1000 trade. Cmon sometimes it's better to take the loss.

I do have a flip opportunity that won't show up on that spreadsheet (at least I don't think so, but I didn't look at every tab to see what all stores are represented).

Tried it last week. The noob cashier had to call over a supervisor or manager to come and look at the ad because he couldn't do it himself. Detective manager stated that "it has to be a day one edition." I Stated that it's the exact same game, but still wouldn't budge. I'm going to try it at a different location today.

It took me 3 stores last time. My YMMV price matches only seem to work when I find a cashier who clearly looks like they don't want to be there. Females seem to be more likely to break/bend the rules too in my experience.

I just buy some games out of pocket and have a lot of credit laying around from previous flips. Spent around $50 this churn at Best Buy with the Minecraft flips and getting around 100% back.
