Gears of War - General Discussion 2 - Re-release 6/24 w/Maps and Extras (No PC Stuff)
I know I'm posting in a biased thread, but I hope someone can give me a realistic response:

Is this game worth it for $25 if I'm only going to play singleplayer and maybe online a couple times? I don't play much Live.
Do you consider Co-op as playing on live? It really adds to the experience and, in my opinion, has replay value because of it.

If you're going to be playing with a friend, its definatly worth it. Otherwise $25 for playing singleplayer alone, not sure about that, although you could get hooked on the multiplayer

It's pretty short, but you can play through it twice for the achievements. Should get you about 16 hours worth of playthrough which is pretty good for $25.

Really fun on co-op and the multiplayer is great.

IF you played multiplayer, $25 would be a steal. Single player only, not even co-op? 25 dollars is a deal. Just sell the game after you beat it, and you'll probably turn a profit (If you sell on ebay).

If you play through once on Hardcore and then again on Insane it is worth it. The game is totally meant to be played co-op too, whether its on live or with someone else in the room.
Wow, I suck with snipe, any tips on how to get better?
Don't move when you're about to shoot. I barely ever get headshots when walking and trying to shoot some one.

Or just host the games.

Absolutely. I got it for 48-50 at launch and the single player blew me away enough to justify the cost. Gears of War is my official GotY for 2006.

I ranked in the top 150 and work 40 hours a week! Beat that!

Also can somebody tell me the best way to kill locusts?

.....Touche, congrats :D

Rank really doesnt mean much in GoW. I played with a friends friend who HAS to host and "HAS" to triple down with pistol to keep high on leaderboard. I told him after the first round if he did it again i would just kill the guy while hes down...needless to say we never played together again.

Then i have my friend who is a sniper, and just tends to have more downs than kills even without snipe. He has like almost 10k more points than me but i have almost 1k more kills. Both our kill-death ratios aren't bad though so its just a matter of how we play.

Hey I know this guy (see my xbl tag).

I never play online (don't even have XBL Gold) and rarely play shooters, but I'd say I got $25 worth of pleasure out of the single player campaign.

Mind you can do split-screen co-op with a buddy in the same room, which is icing on the cake. It was a great bonding activity with my brother. More than other co-op games, you find yourself really talking about strategy, instead of quietly hacking your way through.

w00t! Can't wait for the free maps!

Haven't played this in so long because I fucking can't stand not being able to play a game online I fucking paid for and own.

Actually after the new maps came out, I realized how good the original maps were and kept playing those.

Ack, there's been a lot of noobs on the new maps today. :D Actually, I'm surprised at how few games there are using the maps. I expected more, but maybe lack of awareness is blunting the onset of downloads.

And finally finished my 100 rounds of Annex! Now i just need that damn "Inconceivable" achievement, and no more Annex for me!
Process fucking RULES
my least favorite of the 4 new ones. The fact that the boom shot can shoot through the fence annoys the fuck out of me. If they fix that with a patch I may like that level again.

Its all about checks and balances. The boomshot is a sitting duck for torque AND snipe. If the other team gets either of those weapons with no resistance, its pretty much a free kill.

Im about 500 kills from seriously now, but with work and school havent been able to play as much >.<

Hopefully i get it by friday.

Downloaded the map pack yesterday. Going to try them out tonight. Send me a request if your online and want to play the new maps...

Don't know if I posted this yet but the map packs are meh. If I got to test them out before I bought them, then I never would shell out 800 points. Free is a good price. Had some decent matches and a great one on Process in Annex.

best minifig version of gears i've seen:
I've tried them all besides Old Bones and there all meh except for Process.
Process is my absolute favorite map.

playing on insane mode. if someone can lend a hand for two hours tonight that would be awesome

if i posted this in the wrong area or if their is a thread already created for this please move this post and let me know thanks

Wish I would have seen this earlier. I just got my Live subscription renewed, and I was thinking about playing some more Gears just this afternoon.

I would but all my system's are unhooked because I'm moving my TV's around. I'm gonna start using my 360 on my LCD monitor because I want to sell my LCD TV and buy a projector.
