Hey guys, I figured since we totally hijacked that DS Lite thread to talk about everything from cider to live local music....we might as well have a dedicated thread for it. Especially since I think we definitely have the most robust discussions in the Southeast CAG forum!

I'll kick it off by describing my recent EB experience:

I hit the Northlake EB (the one with the cool manager) today to grab some B2G1 goodness. I ended up getting Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (XB), RE2 (GC), and RE3 (GC), all complete and mint for 86.65. Considering that MvC2 goes for $50-60 on ebay, I thought this to be a pretty good purchase! As I was leaving, the manager guy told me that the North Dekalb store had some rare shit right now too, and that I should check it out. What a nice guy!

Anyway, I f'n hate that EB, but I figured it was worth a trip (its not that far from home). I ended up getting complete mint copies of REZ (PS2), LoZ Promo disc (GC, the one with Master Quest), and Cubivore (GC) for $72.20. Cool.

I also got 3 used DS games (preparing for the Lite on Sun) for B2G1. All three of the games (Trauma Center, Advance Wars, and MarioKart) were complete. But, somehow, as the dipshit was ringing me up, the Trauma manual somehow disappeared from the box! Since they insist upon slapping those damned clear stickers on the edges at sale time, I didn't notice the missing manual until I was on the way home. Jackasses!! Well, they had another complete used copy, so hopefully they can help me out tomorrow....but I'm not counting on it.

In the meantime, this dude with a baby was trading in 20 Xbox games (and getting ripped off, I might add), and the clueless employees there couldn't seem to get it all worked out. That poor bastard must've been there for about 45 minutes, and still hadn't gotten the right trade in credit. UGH.

My two trips today really showed me how utterly opposed two EBs within a few miles of one another could really be. And that is why I always go out to Northlake!

Happy belated birthday! I was on a business trip in Wisconsin (is there any other reason to go there?) Wed. and Thurs. Getting caught up.

I love that there are people already waiting for the PS3. The only thing that would make it better is if they were wearing Star Wars or Trekkie outfits. :roll:

Okay, so I'm completely lost as to who is coming to the Walmart Wii Wait at this point. I guess we should just stick with the original Kennesaw plan, for simplicity's sake. I think Suwanee is too far for...well...everyone except Travis. ;)

Wii (correct any of this I'm incorrect or inaccurate)

Edit: Tybee, looks like the TRU 2nd run of pre-orders is happening fo' real. I may play hookie from sunday school tomorrow and see if I can grab one. IF (big if) they're available and I can do more than one, should I grab a pre-order for you? It beats sitting in Wally for 15 hours.
 
As stated in an earlier post, I finally got a 360. I should be going to Best Buy today and getting a 1-month Gold card to try out Live. I'm sure I'll wind up getting a full year, but I wanted to start off easy. If anyone is on Live as well, give me a shout.

I've gotten quite a few already. I got the Burnout Revenge package at Wal-Mart. Plus, Marvel Alliance, Tony Hawk 8, Gears of War, Call of Duty 2, Quake 4, Oblivion, Dead Rising and Saint's Row. So, lots and lots of options....

Man, if I was somebody who turned out for the original preorders, I'd be P-I-S-S-E-D.

But those and Just Cause are going to wait till they're cheapy cheapy.

And in case y'all haven't poked into the BlockBuster Game Rush thread, you can pick up a few good deals on 360 games. FarCry Instincts Predator brand new I picked up for $20, Ridge Racer $20 I think, Perfect Dark LE used for $15... I'm still waiting for them to drop Hitman and GRAW to around $15 used.

Eh. It's not as if the first-round pre-orders won't be getting their systems. I could see being a little miffed at being turned away at First Call, only to find there are more preorders now. But there's worst stuff in life to be concerned with. And I think I'd be more upset if they took my $50 and then didnt have a system for me. *shrugs*

Time for sleepies now. Hunting tomorrow morning. ;)

Oh, I'm sure the people who actually got preorders the first time round could care less. I'm thinking more of the folks that waited overnight or even 3+ hours and came up empty. Now they get to wait again.

Or not. Looks like virtually NO ONE knows about this, including many TRU employees. I suspect the boy who cried wolf factor will also cut down on crowds (I know I certainly didn't believe it at first). I'll head out a little before opening tomorrow and see if I get lucky.

I'm going to head out there closer to the store opening...I thought the stores opened at 11:00am here in Atlanta, why are some people reporting 9:00am?
 
Yay. Got a Wii for my older brother! Got my younger brother a Wii through Samsclub.com and myself a Wii through EBGames B&M. I'm all set on the Wiis!

Now, to camp for the PS3!

I got mine and Gwen got hers. Plus, she was sweet enough to pick up a SECOND preorder for me which, ironically, I no longer need.

man SURE glad i pre-ordered my ps3 and wii in rome, ga hehe...im going to pick them both up the day they come out! can't wait...cuz that ps3 is going RIGHT back on ebay the minute i get it!
 
So, I got to play Wii Sports and ExciteTruck today.
They are oh so super fun. It made me giggle just to use the Wii controller on menus and stuff. Using it to steer the Truck was grrreat. That game is going to push some hardware. Oh man.

Also, Resistance on the PS3 is very cool... :D
 
In Japan they are selling a lot of PS3's without games. A weak crop of launch titles makes for ebay fodder on the consoles.

Hope you guys make lots of money!
 
Andi, no promises. It'd be fun to meet ya, and hang out for a while in line. But I don't know that I'll be out that far. We'll see.


Aaaaaaaaaand... anyone need a Wii pre-order from Douglasville TRU? If no one is needing it, it'll be returned. =)

haha thats an AWESOME set up...man to think the ONLY thing im going to do when i get my ps3 is sell it right back on ebay...and i only waited 45 minutes to pre-order mine at my local EB...wow...CRAZY!...i wonder what best buy they're sitting at cuz if its the one nearest to me im going to drive over there just to roll down my window and laugh at them...:lol::lol::lol:
 
I'm really curious now to find out where these guys are. It says they have an adjacent Bed Bath & Beyond. Douglasville has both stores according to the store locators.
 
But not in the same area.

Best Buy in Kennesaw has a Linens n' Things next door. Cobb Parkway has... a few clothing shops and Michaels, and a Petsmart or similar. No BB&B that I recall.

That could be it. It's not Edgewood, as a lot of the people in the Kotaku comments seem to think. There's a Bed, Bath, & Beyond in that same shopping center, but not adjacent. Plus, I was there tonight and I didn't see them.

They're going to get rained on. There's a 40 percent chance of rain tomorrow night, 80 percent on Wednesday, and 60 percent Wednesday night. Forgetting these guys, that should help hold off a lot of the linesitters until Thursday.

Not that I care (other than rooting for Andi).
 
hmmm....and the conversation shifts from PS3 and Wii release information to predicting how hammered the DA's sittin outside of bestbuy are going to get...man tho i do feel bad if that nice plasma screen they got is a victim of the rain...
 
ye that Best Buy is about 14 mins from my house :) tho i won't be going to a BB to get my Wii...ill be getting it where i pre-ordered it the day it went on pre-order...at EBGames :)

I think it just means that this specific Best Buy will receive the first console shipments from Nintendo to lock up in the back until Sunday.

Not for Wii, but for PS3, just look on the last page of this thread.

I don't think the Wii lines will get going in earnest until Friday evening, if then. Glad I won't have to be in 'em, regardless.

Okay...I'm still going to camp (because I still haven't received a confirmation from Wm.com and I'm afraid to be left out).

I called the Wm I was planning on camping at, and the Manager of the store told me he's not allowing lines until 10PM THURSDAY. I told him, as small as I am, I'd be afraid for my life running for a chair. He said no one will get hurt. I asked him if I could PLEASE line up in layaway and he said no.

How do you all think I should handle this? Any tips? When TRU.com told me no lines, I went there anyways, and there was a line of people since 6pm the day before. I don't want the same to happen to me again.
 
Well from everything I read Amazon is going to honor the Wii preorders made on Sept 15th. I hope they do since I am counting on the one I preorder there instead of running around....

You could also call your credit card company and ask if your account has any activity from Walmart. I don't know if they bill at shipping, or right away. But it's worth a quick call. (as if any customer service call today is quick. :roll: )

First question is this: How early can you get to your Wally? If you can't get there until around 6 or 8 pm anyway, the question is moot. (Because I can almost gurantee there will be plenty of people camping. If not in layaway or in a line outside (if managment keeps chasing campers out), then I'm sure that folks will be milling around "browsing" all day.)

Andi, my suggestion is to go the earliest you feel comfortable with. I know you're being escorted by your boyfriend, so that will make my thoughts easier to put into action. You walk inside (if there is not an outisde campers line), and one of you grabs a seat in the indoor fast food place, and the other goes back to see if there's any line-up action in electronics and/or layaway. If nothing is going on, you join your friend in the fast food section. If there is a line, get in it. And then call your boyfriend to join you.

I saw about 30-40 people camping in front of the Kennesaw Best Buy. They also had a Wii and PS3 on display, though the Wii was just for show with a video and the PS3 had crashed, lol.
