Hey guys, I figured since we totally hijacked that DS Lite thread to talk about everything from cider to live local music....we might as well have a dedicated thread for it. Especially since I think we definitely have the most robust discussions in the Southeast CAG forum!

I'll kick it off by describing my recent EB experience:

I hit the Northlake EB (the one with the cool manager) today to grab some B2G1 goodness. I ended up getting Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (XB), RE2 (GC), and RE3 (GC), all complete and mint for 86.65. Considering that MvC2 goes for $50-60 on ebay, I thought this to be a pretty good purchase! As I was leaving, the manager guy told me that the North Dekalb store had some rare shit right now too, and that I should check it out. What a nice guy!

Anyway, I f'n hate that EB, but I figured it was worth a trip (its not that far from home). I ended up getting complete mint copies of REZ (PS2), LoZ Promo disc (GC, the one with Master Quest), and Cubivore (GC) for $72.20. Cool.

I also got 3 used DS games (preparing for the Lite on Sun) for B2G1. All three of the games (Trauma Center, Advance Wars, and MarioKart) were complete. But, somehow, as the dipshit was ringing me up, the Trauma manual somehow disappeared from the box! Since they insist upon slapping those damned clear stickers on the edges at sale time, I didn't notice the missing manual until I was on the way home. Jackasses!! Well, they had another complete used copy, so hopefully they can help me out tomorrow....but I'm not counting on it.

In the meantime, this dude with a baby was trading in 20 Xbox games (and getting ripped off, I might add), and the clueless employees there couldn't seem to get it all worked out. That poor bastard must've been there for about 45 minutes, and still hadn't gotten the right trade in credit. UGH.

My two trips today really showed me how utterly opposed two EBs within a few miles of one another could really be. And that is why I always go out to Northlake!

/rant

On to more beer talk!!

Yeah, Perimeter was dry as far as GGCs. They had a copy of Puzzle Quest for the DS there, if anyone's looking. There was also one or two up in Kennesaw when I was up there on Tuesday.

Anybody check Douglasville for GGCs? Guin?
Anybody check Douglasville for GGCs? Guin?
I'm probably going CC hunting this evening. I can hit up the Douggie BB to check. If I find 'em I'll pick them up with $1 on each GGC.

I was in Acworth BB yesterday and didn't even check (with the GamePro coupon scans, my few GGCs have been sitting in my purse unloved for months so I haven't been looking much for them).

And welcome back ME. Yay. I know you all missed me terribly.

Edit: Speaking of which, now that that trip is out of the way, can we all try to set a date to hang out? Maybe grab lunch and play some DS wireless or sumpin?

Better use them soon. They expire in June.

Welcome back indeed! How was Denver?

As far as a meet, depends. Are you moving? Because I'd hate to get all ATTACHED, only to have you skip town. ;)

Incredibly brief. We just passed through Denver and then the Rockies to the western border of Colo. Grand Junction. We got there, and Jaelie wanted to return the next day, but we stayed a few days.

The geography was nice (not as gorgeous as the eastern side of the rockies) but the people were ...rather unfriendly. One man walked pushed his cart straight into me at a sams club (while looking at me, as if I ought to move out of his way... hello chivalry? I was just standing in this huge aisle looking at a salt shaker. It was apparantly his perogative to not have to make a wider arch as he rouned a corner?!?!). Another instance was we walked into the Black Bear Diner right by our hotel... Jaelie says, "hi!" to a hostess... she sees him and very obviously looks away. We were both like, wtf? (pardon the hyperbole but even for me, the situation called for it.)

Hit a BB and a CC. The people were just... I dunno. The area had no soul. And we were both freaked out by the fact that west of st louis the only people we saw were white. I'm white enough to make up for several people. I needs major diversity around me.

But we liked Goodland, Kansas. Nufin but farms. We went to their Walmart (about the only store we found there) on a Monday afternoon and it was so nice and quiet. I think there were 20-30 cars in the parking lot... speaking of which, we saw a Ford dealer and a Chevy dealership... Jaeli suggested that their claims on radio ads would be, "We sells TENS of CARS a year!" Honesty, there were probably 12-15 cars on their lots.

And Calvert City, Kentucky was nice as well. Near Kentucky Dam. There's a Kentucky Dam Hotel, Kentucky Dam gas station and when I spotted a KFC, I figured I could safely call it Kentucky Damn Chicken.

As far as a meet, depends. Are you moving? Because I'd hate to get all ATTACHED, only to have you skip town. ;)
Wiseguy. With my bro, I have no way of knowing. But I'll say this, there is no great chance that I'll be moving to Colorado any time soon.

I was at the Lennox Compusa tonight around closing and big news. . . new signs were going up because the 20 to 50 % off jumped up to 25 to 50 % off. Yaaaaaaaay! Seriously, how lame.

If the games were 50% off, well I think we could help their inv. problems =)

I did pick up King Kong for the 360 for 14, and got the new(old version included) copies of Return of the Jedi and Empire Strikes Back for 11 bucks apiece. A few random strat guides for $1-3 dollars as well.

I stopped by the Smyrna Compusa today and console games were down to 30% and pc games were down 40%. I ended up walking out with nothing (as I was looking for EQ and WoW gamecards). I called Perimeter and Lenox and they both reported they had none. Anyone find differently?

Morrow CompUSA told me they had some X-Box games but not that many. If I recall, they might have been sports titles.

They were out of WoW cards back when I went. That was one of the things on my to get list =)
Is there anything left at the Lennox CUSA and what % off is it at now?
I'll answer my own question. Nothing's left as it's closed for good!

Does anyone know if the Smyrna or Roswell stores have closed yet?
Does anyone know if the Smyrna or Roswell stores have closed yet?
Don't know, but the Duluth store closes Monday if you go over that way.

Their % off schedule (which is probably the same elsewhere) goes:
Friday & Saturday 60-80
Sunday 70-90
Monday Discounts keep rising until all is sold and doors close.

The Lenox store was changing % at the same time as Duluth as late as last week so I have to wonder if they moved their stuff to another local store. They moved clearanced games to the roswell store in the past so maybe they did that again.

Duluth is pretty picked over. As far as games go: Only Tony Hawk 8 xbox was in the cage for 70% off 40. They had Madden 07 and NCAA2k7 both for 360 as well. For PC, Doom 3 80% of 50!, had King Kong and the movies. Tried to buy 2k7 (which was my main target in coming back) which I swear was price checked at 30 on Wednesday and it rang up 55 before 70% off. Said no thanks and some other fool swooped on it. Good riddance.

I'll miss the occasional killer advertised deals, manager's specials and blowout clearances as I picked up quite a few good deals and PMed even more, but I won't miss the awful service and overall high prices. Or the game cover printouts in plastic boxes in the game section. WTF!

They haven't even started on the new lane and this I-75 construction is killing me.

Also, Prey for Xbox 360 is $8.88 at Brandsmart. The one near Barrett Parkway has some.

Ooh. For $9.50, I'd bite.

I'm sure it goes without saying, but it's a must-buy for $8.88. I liked but not loved it, however, I bought it for $19.99 and don't regret it, so for $8.88, it's even a better buy.

My biggest problem is it's very, very, very easy to get confused in the game since you are constantly walking on the floor, wall and ceiling. There was so many times in the first 2 hours of play that I got too twisted and turned around and I had no idea where I was going. Still, a decent game and a steal at that price.

Does anyone know of any EB/GS in GA that still carry PS1 games? I want to take advantage of this 75% off sale, but none of the EBs I've been to have them anymore...

None in Kennesaw or Woodstock do. Sorry.

Hey guys/girls, I'm currently residing up in Connecticut but will be moving down to the Atlanta area come August as my job is relocating. I'll be looking to add some PS1 games to my collection. Wondering if you could recommend any stores in particular that would be able to help me out with the PS1 games (I found one Gamestop in my state that had some) as well as any local stores that offer good deals on the current and next-gen games/systems. Thanks!

lol, that would help. I'll be working in Marietta so figure somewhere within a 50-100 mile radius of there. I don't have a problem driving an hour or two if a place is worth it.

100 mile radius? Alabama is nice this time of the year.

There's a number of stores in Kennesaw that I know of, EBStop consists of most of them. There's a neat mom&pop on Barret Parkway, and their sister store on 41 in Acworth.

BTW, your first stop needs to be the Big Chicken. Most people will give this as a reference.

Clearly this is a man who has not dealt with Atlanta traffic...especially out of Marietta. ;)

Doh! An hour or two will mean more like a 20-40 mile radius. Stupid cars, outta my way!:bomb:

If everyone would just take driving lessons from me the traffic problem would become practically negligible.

First lesson, only drive between 8 PM and 6 AM?
First lesson, only drive between 8 PM and 6 AM?
Too true.

First rule, if you're not actively passing someone (and doing so quickly) GET OUT OF THE LEFT LANE!!!!!

Second rule, if you're going to make a turn put your signal on BEFORE you start applying the brake. Also, it's absolutely pointless to put the turn signal on once you're already in a turn lane.

I won't turn this into a manifesto but I'll end with one request. If I'm on the road then it's very likely that I will be driving the fastest so just let me by...please.

Rule #1: Live ITP.
Rule #2: See Rule #1.
Inside the perimeter

How long have you lived here? ;)
Well I live OTP so my ignorance is understandable. I probably go ITP once a month at the most.

Dude, Tybee, if you are going to make #1 a rule, then you'll have to add a #3:

#3: Make a lot of $$

;)

Hey, there are still affordable places to live ITP. You might have to wear a bullet-proof vest, but that's a small price to pay. ;)

My current little 430 Sq feet is like 640 a month with utilities and I'm on the edge of Buckhead. Heck, worst I have to deal with is some guy that likes beating on his girlfriend, but I have security on speed dial. =D

Ouch.

We're thinking of moving back, possibly to Holly Springs. That's about as close as we can get and have a real house with a real yard with a real mortgage.

Newnan is where a lot of ATL commuters are coming from these days, but rent and land prices are finally skyrocketing. Still way too inconvenient for me, so I just stay down here.

Just gotta put my name in here. I reside in Newnan and I roam between Carrollton, Douglasville, Peachtree City/Fayetteville, and Jonesboro/Morrow. If you see two brothers of the same age but different body-types digging around in the clearance items, that's be me and my twin.

Oh, and I make semi-regular excursions to the Duluth Fry's store. I still haven't been to the Alpharetta store because it's only 0.1mi difference from here and I'm not too familiar with GA400.

Well, if you ever want to go to it, take Windward Parkway exit off of 400, go west until you get to GA 9 and turn right. If you miss it, then you belong in Dahlonega. ;)

Seriously, it couldn't be easier to get to. I'm surprised how the Windward/GA 9 area has ballooned.

I won't tell you what my mortgage is for a 2br/1ba house near the square in Decatur. You would cry. Sometimes I want to. But the quality of life sure eases the pain.

Actually, in all honesty, it's not the mortgage that's so bad. But close to $600+ in city and county property taxes every month are hard to swallow.

What's going on My Atlanta people... I reside in Smyrna currently only beacuse I work here and dont feel like dealing with Traffic. Any of yall shop at the GameStop in Cumberland Mall? I know they just built a new one the oppisite direction on cobb parkway...
Too true. Where's the emoticon that shows a gnat flying out of my wallet?
I think it's a moth you're thinking of. Of course, I could be wrong. Maybe only gnats can survive in kennesaw.

Oh, do forgive me. I just had a horrible flashback to the property taxes in new england, which believe it or else was very low on the least of reasons I left my lovely home up north. Now that you mention land taxes, I'm surprized I didn't move sooner. But... but... dang, I do miss the cold weather and the snow. And my across the street neighbors with their six car garage. They were the bestest neighbors ever. He always came over to snow blow my driveway. =) The houses here are right on top of each other. In my bedroom, I can hear my next door neighbors doing their flippin laundry.

Hrmmm... four and a half acres and in a nice quiet town and lots of cold weather. And property taxes and heating oil prices so high I have to take an actual paying job... or this?
Hey, there are still affordable places to live ITP. You might have to wear a bullet-proof vest, but that's a small price to pay. ;)
Dude, the suburbs are no better. The women here will just as soon run you over in a parking lot so they can get their Starbucks coffee one minute faster rather than yield to pedestrians... or you know, drivers who actually have the right of way. Honestly, I don't see why they even have lights or arrows or signs any more. No one pays attention to them.

Anyway. Forgive me, I'm too lazy to go through other pages... wasn't there someone here who was interested in opening a comic shop in Hiram? Reason I'm asking, is for the past week, I've been clearing out my garage and I'm organizing and listing (and reading) what's left of my old comics and I want to get rid of them on Craigs List or if there's some better way, I'm open to suggestions. And I have no idea what I should ask for a price for them.

I know I haven't posted in a while, but I was just so happy about my recent purchase. I got the Xbox 360 HD DVD add-on today, with the 2 free movies deal + the CC $40 off coupon + 3 months 0% interest. :)

I'm giddy. Can't wait to go home and try it. Anyone else in here got one? BTW, Tiffany at the CC at Perimeter is really nice.
