CAGiversary!

Hey guys, I figured since we totally hijacked that DS Lite thread to talk about everything from cider to live local music....we might as well have a dedicated thread for it. Especially since I think we definitely have the most robust discussions in the Southeast CAG forum!

I'll kick it off by describing my recent EB experience:

I hit the Northlake EB (the one with the cool manager) today to grab some B2G1 goodness. I ended up getting Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (XB), RE2 (GC), and RE3 (GC), all complete and mint for 86.65. Considering that MvC2 goes for $50-60 on ebay, I thought this to be a pretty good purchase! As I was leaving, the manager guy told me that the North Dekalb store had some rare shit right now too, and that I should check it out. What a nice guy!

Anyway, I f'n hate that EB, but I figured it was worth a trip (its not that far from home). I ended up getting complete mint copies of REZ (PS2), LoZ Promo disc (GC, the one with Master Quest), and Cubivore (GC) for $72.20. Cool.

I also got 3 used DS games (preparing for the Lite on Sun) for B2G1. All three of the games (Trauma Center, Advance Wars, and MarioKart) were complete. But, somehow, as the dipshit was ringing me up, the Trauma manual somehow disappeared from the box! Since they insist upon slapping those damned clear stickers on the edges at sale time, I didn't notice the missing manual until I was on the way home. Jackasses!! Well, they had another complete used copy, so hopefully they can help me out tomorrow....but I'm not counting on it.

In the meantime, this dude with a baby was trading in 20 Xbox games (and getting ripped off, I might add), and the clueless employees there couldn't seem to get it all worked out. That poor bastard must've been there for about 45 minutes, and still hadn't gotten the right trade in credit. UGH.

My two trips today really showed me how utterly opposed two EBs within a few miles of one another could really be. And that is why I always go out to Northlake!

On to more beer talk!!

I was at a Wal-Mart in Bremen, GA. (rural west Georgia).

They had a lot of Wii and DS stuff on clearance. They items were strange combinations in plain white packages (with clear plastic windows on the front of the boxes). It looked like tey might have been Wal-Mart bundles.

What I got was a Classic Controller and a controller sleeve for $12. A classic controller sleeve and 2000 Wii point card for $12 and Elite Beat Agents, a DS soft case, and 3 styli for $8.

I don't even care about the controller sleeves but 2000 points for $12 is pretty cool.

The weird thing, they had the normal packaged classic controllers and 2000 point cards just 10 feet away at regular price.

Ah, these are the infamous WalMart Wii accessory packs. Some WalMarts bargain price them, some don't. Wish I'd known about this last week. My sister-in-law lives in Bremen and my wife was out there visiting her on Friday.

Not really a cheap deal, but saw a Wii at target so I grabbed it :D now to get some wii points and some more games, a man can only play wii sports for so long.
Saw a few 360 Simpsons game at Best Buy Stone Mountain for 70% off of $39.99 = $11.99.
Dang...For that price, I might try to get over there tomorrow.

HURRY! HURRY! HURRY!

They are on a front table immediately after you walk in, in front of the Wireless department.
Anyone seen a 60GB PS3 in the wild? GS says the closest one is in Dalton (used). :whee:
When I got mine new from the Gamerush in Snellville Feb 26th, there was another new 60GB there as well as some 80s and 40s. Also, I was in the Snellville KMart this weekend and noticed a 60GB in the glass display case in electronics.
Did everyone take advantage of the Micro Center coupon deal over the weekend?
Doh! Was busy this weekend and forgot all about it. Probably wouldn't have had time to get out there anyway. Glad to see some CAGs get some deals there. Just realized that there were several "clearance" last gen games that were about $10 too much last time I was there. Starting to get bummed on missing out. .

Saw a few 360 Simpsons game at Best Buy Stone Mountain for 70% off of $39.99 = $11.99.
I started to get upset that I spent a few more bucks on it at Target and then realized it was a 12.48 game and not a 14.98 one.

Also, if anyone sees a F1 for PS3 on clearance at target please let me know. There were a ton in this area and then most or all disappeared while it was still 29.98!

There were a couple in the case at the Northlake Target marked at 41.

$499 new, right? In reality, that's only $50 more than I would spend on a used 20GB with a 1-year warranty.

Damn, may have to make the drive for that. I'll also check the one here in Marietta that got turned into a Sears Essentials.

Sony announced in February a new 80GB model that will come with MGS4 and a Dual Shock 3 controller for $499. It comes out June 14th, but it may be worth the wait.

Yeah, I would hope everyone knows about that by now.

The problem I have with the 80GB is the half-assed BC. Either do it right, or not at all IMO. I'd rather pay 400 and have none, or 500 and get it all, not 500 for some. Even with a DS3 and MGS4. If I had games that worked on the 80GB, it would by far be the best deal. Unfortunately, almost all of my games are said to have major issues.

I found a 60GB at the Big Chicken K-Mart today. More than I wanted to spend, but I felt I couldn't pass the opportunity by for near perfect BC. Oh well, I'll sell my Ipod and my backup cell phones to cover it.
Yeah, I would hope everyone knows about that by now.
Ok. I was just trying to help. Seemed like a good deal to me, and wanted to make 100% sure you were aware before you bought one, just in case.
Ok. I was just trying to help. Seemed like a good deal to me, and wanted to make 100% sure you were aware before you bought one, just in case.
Oh, I know.

I was thinking about it, and if I can sell my PS2 to cover MGS4, then you're looking at a DS3 in exchange for better BC. I think the better BC is well worth not having a controller I basically know nothing about.

So I guess the 60GB model has the actual hardware to support "true" BC, while the 80GB only supports it with software emulation, similar to the 360??

I have been a 360 guy for so long, I know little about the PS3. That's why I had my eye on the new 80GB PS3, but maybe I'll reconsider.

As far as I know, yes. The 20GB and 60GB had the Emotion Engine inside. The 80GB is software emulation, the 40GB has no emulation for PS2. I believe all are software-emulation PS1.

I'm sure someone can correct me, but that's what I was told. I was going to get a used 20GB from EBStop, but after spending the money on a 1-year warranty, I was looking at $440 and no wifi. For $60 more I went with new.

I could also more easily sell this one if I ever ran into a reason to down the road.

Pretty much right on Cochese.

Here's a pretty picture for reference.
I hate how they are all so diffrent, should make one with addons, like a computer! lol
You mean like the 360? That annoys me more. MS charges $100 for their wireless adapter (which is something that should be integrated anyway). Companies love making accessories cause they can over charge for everything.
HURRY! HURRY! HURRY!

Got the last one! They had moved them to a rack on the aisle in the middle of the video game section. All the 70% off games were marked with blue dots, which was the signal to the cashier they needed a manager override (I didn't have to say anything). Bust a Move Wii was still there, as was Pirates of the Caribbean, Cars: Mater National, and several copies of Innocent Life: A Futuristic Harvest Moon for PSP.

I found at least two more copies of The Simpsons Game (marked $39.99) in among the regular 360 games. They did not have blue dots on them, but maybe the manager just missed them. You might be able to get them marked down. The Devil's advocate in me says those blue dots are very easy to find at your local office supply store.....:cool: But that's getting into Fat Wallet territory.

The whole thing with different HD's to justify keeping the price high just annoys me. I won't bite on a PS3 until it hits $300, if not $250. I know I'll be waiting a while but that's fine with me. I have a ridiculous backlog to keep me busy until it happens.

I'm with you on the wait for the PS3 Neo.

I noticed the Goozex traidng site deal with CAG for April.
Anybody here use the site, if so how is it?

Mostly, I would be concerned with getting games in good shape and with manuals.
There were a couple in the case at the Northlake Target marked at 41.
Thanks! The unmarked ones that were in Snellville by my house for 41.98 (scanned) this weekend apparently dropped to 14.98 and were marked yesterday and were gone when I got there today, but I found the last one unmarked and 14.98 at the Steve Reynolds location today.

I shoulda specified prices, I'm 99% that the 60GB at BB/GR is $450 new and KMart is $499. I'd say the drive to Snellville and back isn't worth saving $50 between gas, time and traffic frustrations so I wouldn't worry about that extra 50 too much unless you can find one at a local BB/GR.
You mean like the 360? That annoys me more. MS charges $100 for their wireless adapter (which is something that should be integrated anyway). Not that I'm standing up for M$ or anything especially since the hard drive thing is what really irks me and my constantly full puny 20 GB drive.

Not that I'd do it, but I wondered what would prevent some devious individual from dotting whatever they want. I ddi see that they put the dots on the actual game before putting it in the display case, so I guess that may be a way for "foolproofing" the dot scheme. That and what the BB in Tucker does (tagging only the top game or two with a clearance sticker) just doesn't make sense to me. What does a blue dot mean without explanation?

Pretty good haul and finds today around the Targets in Kennesaw/Marietta/Acworth:

Acworth (Cobb Pkwy) - PS3 - NCAA Football 08 19.98, MLB 07 9.98, Orange Box (PS3) 29.98. Also found 3-4 of the Williams Pinball Hall of Fame for the Wii there for 19.99, they're in the aisle with the $30 and under games on the top of one of the racks. Was there Sunday and didn't see them so they must have just gotten them in. Also picked up the last Lair (PS3) for 29.98. Wanted it for 14.98 but with it being the last copy, I figured it might not last.

Kennesaw (Barrett Pkwy) - probably the weakest - saw Boogie (PS2), HSM (PS2) and Singstar Amped (game only). Bought the Singstar game for 20.98, I forget the other prices. They had Motorstorm (PS3) for 41.98, NBA 07 (PS3) for 9.98 (endcap), 1 Genji (PS3) for 14.98 (endcap) and Orange Box (PS3) for 41.98

West Marietta (Dallas Hwy) - all PS3 games and on the endcap - Def Jam Icon (2 copies) 14.98, Tony Hawk Project some # lol - 14.98, Godfather (1 copy) 14.98, Simpsons (4 copies) 34.98, Motorstorm (1 copy) 29.98, NBA Street Homecourt (3 copies) 14.98, Marvel Ultimate Aliiance (2 or 3 copies) 14.98, Tony Hawk Proving Ground 24.98. They also had a couple copies of Madden 07 and Tiger Woods 07. 2 copies of SOTC for the PS2 (GH) for 4.98. Bought the only copy of F.E.A.R. for the PS3 for 14.98 there as well. NBA 08 for the PS2 was 9.98 and I think 29.98 for the PS3 (couple of copies of each). Oh yeah, and 1 Genji for the PS3 for 14.98.

I just signed up. I know they won a Cheapy award for the favorite online game trading service amongst the CAGs so I am hoping to have a better experience with this than the last service I used. Gottaplay.com sucked, i sent a game out and earned points and I have been waiting damn near a year to receive any of the games on my list.

$30 bucks for Orange box sounds like a deal I've been waiting for but I am downtown not Acworth...doh!

Did someone say there was Warhawk on sale somewhere?

BTW, found a Ghost Squad @ the Lassiter Target for $12.48. Still there if someone wants it.

I'm a member and I've had decent success. I've been able to unload some unwanted games and was able to get some crap games in return that I otherwise would not have been able to justify paying for! The wait can be pretty long for in-demand new releases.

Goozex allows you to mark your games as Complete or Disc only. So presumably you should know if you're getting game+accessories+box, game+Box or just game.

metrognome, Wiggly, and Wolfkin: Thanks for your input on and about Goozex. I think I'll give it a try.

Happened through the Cobb Parkway Target last night, nothing of interest there.
Only clearance titles were half dozen each of Viva Pinata at $14.XX and College Hoops 2K8 at $29.XX for 360.

Didn't know we had a section for this. Cool. I'm in the atlanta area, I live in Vinings but work in kennesaw for AT&T. I'll let you guys know if I see any deals around here.

I gotta head to the barrett parkway best buy to pick up two copies of team fortress later.

I was at the Edgewood Target a little while ago. They had NBA Street Homecourt, and Fear for PS3 and 360 Def Jam Icon for $14.98. They also had Supreme Commander for $14.98 and the Warhammer 40K Dawn of War compilation with both expansions for 20.98. All of this was on the endcaps away from the game section.

At the Atlantic Station Target they had some interesting deals in the PC Game section. They had two Guitar Hero 3 bundle packages for 40 bucks. Also, Rainbow Six Vegas (first one) for 9.98. There were a few other deals. I grabbed the last Neverwinter Nights 2 for 14.98.

Welcome to the thread. Unfortunately, those of us in the Marietta area are in the weakest deal zone. (As you probably already know our BB is probably the worst in ATL; as is our Target).

Luckily for you your work is close to the Kennesaw stores, as there are plenty of deals to be had at that Target and BB. I find myself driving there often, both for deals and for the more flexible price matching at that BB (Cobb parkway makes you wait while they call every store to check inventory- regardless of wether it's a national store/sale or not).

I'll try and post any deals I spot at either location. It would be great if you could do the Monday scouting at the Kennesaw Target and BB near your work; It would save me a drive.

In any event welcome, we update often. I can honestly say we are the best regional CAG group for finding those clearance deals and helping each other out.
If anyone is still looking for Stranglehold, the Target off of State Bridge had several copies left when I went on tuesday.
-1 thanks to me :D, still several there. Drove by the store today and decided to stop in to take a look. Been meaning to pick this one up since last week but never had the time to make the drive to Druid Hills. At every store I saw it was still at the $24.98 price.

Anybody in here play this game? Just curious if it's any good.

It's very fun. Not worth the original $60, but anything under $30 is a good deal. If it's ~$15, then it's a must buy.

Yeah, I got Team Fortress price matched their today from Circuit. I refuse to do business with Circuit City if I can. I used to work there, and they fired a friend over some b.s. circumstances so I stay away from that place and give all my loot to best buy.

I never find deals at the kennesaw bb though. I'm suprised you mentioned they're good.

I never checked out the target by here though.

Yeah, as long as I'm not working I don't mind since I work up the street from there. Might be a morning or evening post. Where do they usually put their clearence stuff?

Cool, thanks, man. I really like the website here and I've gotten some great deals because of this place so I figured I'd participate if I could. Those YMMV threads pissed me off cause there was never any information about Atlanta. I'm glad to see this exists. I'll contribute what I can.

Welcome aboard! I usually find the clearance games in Kennesaw either still behind the glass cases and at the endcap with the PS2 and PS3 games on one side. Appreciate it if you could check this one out and I'll still hit the West Marietta and Acworth locations on a weekly basis (Monday is when they're supposed to update the clearance prices so I usually go Monday or Tuesday evening.)

Edgewood Target tonight had the Godfather and F.E.A.R. for PS3 for 14.98 each. Naruto for 360 was 29.98...nothing much else. They're slacking!

I got R6:V today from Edgewood; was pretty happy to see it jump to 50% off...

They'll be marked, right? Or do I have to ask?

Northlake Target has one more F1 Championship for PS3 at $14.98 (marked $41.98 in the case -- you'll have to ask for a scan). There is one Lair in the case, but it scans as marked at $41.98.
There is a pretty large stack of 360 Strangleholds off to the side in the case. They are not marked. I did not ask for a price check, but that could be a potential gold mine.
They'll be marked, right? Or do I have to ask?
They'll be marked with a small red price tag in the upper right corner.

Ooh, I'd like that F1 game. Why do the good games reside so far away?

Hopefully it will still be there either tonight or in the morning. The trek from Marietta isn't something I'm looking forward to.

MLB 07 (PS3) was marked $9.98 @ the Johnsons Ferry/120 Target.

Last night at Lindbergh Target:

2x HALO3 wireless controllers w/toy for $30
lots of MUA 360 for $15
a few Sea Monsters and Arctic Tale Wii for $15
2x Fable for PC for $10
1x Supreme Commander for $15
a few other 360 games for $15
LAIR ps3 for $30 (in the case)
Orange Box PS3 for $30 (in the case)
1x SOTC PS2 for $10
lots of Singstar Amped for $20
Boogie PS2 for $15
HSMusical PS2 for $20

Probably more that I'm forgetting.

Oh, also, I need some extra eyes if any of you wander through the toy departments when you hit Target. There are some GI Joe comic book/figure packs that I'd like to get. They have new comics written by Larry Hama, numbered 21b, 32 1/2, and 36 1/2. Not sure if they've shown up yet, as I've only seen them at Criminal for a marked up price.

There are other comic 2packs already out there, but they contain reprints. I'm only interested in the ones with new "EXCLUSIVE!" comics.

Thanks.
