Hey guys, I figured since we totally hijacked that DS Lite thread to talk about everything from cider to live local music....we might as well have a dedicated thread for it. Especially since I think we definitely have the most robust discussions in the Southeast CAG forum!

I'll kick it off by describing my recent EB experience:

I hit the Northlake EB (the one with the cool manager) today to grab some B2G1 goodness. I ended up getting Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (XB), RE2 (GC), and RE3 (GC), all complete and mint for 86.65. Considering that MvC2 goes for $50-60 on ebay, I thought this to be a pretty good purchase! As I was leaving, the manager guy told me that the North Dekalb store had some rare shit right now too, and that I should check it out. What a nice guy!

Anyway, I f'n hate that EB, but I figured it was worth a trip (its not that far from home). I ended up getting complete mint copies of REZ (PS2), LoZ Promo disc (GC, the one with Master Quest), and Cubivore (GC) for $72.20. Cool.

I also got 3 used DS games (preparing for the Lite on Sun) for B2G1. All three of the games (Trauma Center, Advance Wars, and MarioKart) were complete. But, somehow, as the dipshit was ringing me up, the Trauma manual somehow disappeared from the box! Since they insist upon slapping those damned clear stickers on the edges at sale time, I didn't notice the missing manual until I was on the way home. Jackasses!! Well, they had another complete used copy, so hopefully they can help me out tomorrow....but I'm not counting on it.

In the meantime, this dude with a baby was trading in 20 Xbox games (and getting ripped off, I might add), and the clueless employees there couldn't seem to get it all worked out. That poor bastard must've been there for about 45 minutes, and still hadn't gotten the right trade in credit. UGH.

My two trips today really showed me how utterly opposed two EBs within a few miles of one another could really be. And that is why I always go out to Northlake!

On to more beer talk!!

Cool!! Thanks, man!!

I know this is a little off-topic, but I thought I'd share a slightly funny story from yesterday...

Fry's had NCAA Football '07 in their ad for $29.99. Circuity City has it in their ad for $39.99 with a free strategy guide. However, I had $40 in Best Buy GC's and they had it for $49.99 (figures, right?). Anywhoo, I took the Fry's and CC ads into Best Buy to PM. I had the Fry's ad out and the CC ad in my pocket as a backup in case they didn't match Fry's (Fry's listed the game as $49.99 with a $20 "instant gift rebate") due to ambiguity in the Fry's ad. I also brought up the strategy guide to get ONLY if I wound up having to match CC.

The customer service woman was neither friendly, nor rude or mean and she had to have like a huddle meeting with a colleague for several minutes regarding the "instant gift rebate" thing. She wound up having to call Fry's who supposedly said it was "out of stock". She came back to tell me with a hint of a smirk in a way saying "sorry, pal, but we can't do it. HA HA!". Of course, she didn't actually say that. It was merely her subtext. Sensing her feeling of victory, I immediately whipped out the CC ad and told her "that's OK, because I have plan B!". She looked rather dumbfounded and defeated and gave me the $39.99 and free guide w/o calling CC.

I think BB CSR's get a sense of pleasure when someone tries to PM something and the CSR has a "legitimate" reason to deny it. It was nice to sort of have the last laugh.....

i forgot about that one, they suck too

I made a journey back to the Micro Center on Pleasant Hill this afternoon, and picked up Mario Kart: Double Dash for the GameCube for 19.67 and Simpson's: Hit and Run (Also for Gamecube) for 6.00. They had a couple of copies remaining of each.

Thanks again for the heads-up. I picked up Suikoden Tactics and the XBX version of Psychonauts. I was really, really, really hoping for Champions:RTA, but 2 out of 3 ain't bad....

BTW, they had 2 copies of Killer 7 for the GC still, so if you haven't gotten it yet, you are still OK!

No Killer 7?

I went to TRU on Cobb Parkway and TRU Buckhead and I STILL can't find Champions:RTA. Guess that teaches me not to prcrastinate on these sales. ;)

Well, it looks like you and I have unintentionally hijacked this thread. ;)
Where did everybody else go? This thread was hopping there for a little while....

Anyway, I think I'm going back to that TRU tomorrow to get XBOX Serious Sam 2 for $9.96. I had it in my hand yesterday debating and I put it down and I thought to myself "I should get it, because I know I'll change my mind and want to come back and get it." Sure enough, I now realize I should always follow my first instinct. Fortuanately, they had a bunch of copies, so I should be OK....

I'm still following, but since the conversation has basically been reduced to "I saw this here" and "I saw that there," I haven't had a lot to contribute.

Ah, I see......

I'm glad you posted, though. I was beginning to feel guilty for hogging most of the posts.....I was a lurker for almost 2 years, now I can't stop posting....;)

With all the sales the past month I think several of us are passing on the TRU. I jumped on Rhino with the lastest drops this week, but between GR, CC, Rhino, I have quite a backlog...

The Kennesaw TRU had 9 copies of Xenosaga II for $5 today.

I also got in 7 copies of Total Overdose-PS2 at my store today ($4). I think it still qualifies for the trade 2 get 1 at Rhino. Plus it might also still get $12 at GR (before $5 bonus).

i need to go get that, i didnt even check the gwinnett one for it

If anyone goes to Rhino, I could use another GCN/N64/SNES S-video cable. Actually, I could use two. They are down to $1.50. You know I'd be good for it.

Also, looking for the GCN RE4 controller as well. Let me know if you could help me out.

I think there's one off of Lawrencevill-Suwanee, if I'm not mistaken.

Also, by the Mall of Georgia, which isn't really close....

Just to kinda brag a little bit, but I won the Beastie Boys DVD from 99X on Saturday night. I NEVER call in when they ask for the whatever number caller through, but, for some reason, I thought I should just call in and try it and sure enough, I won.

Now why can't this happen when they give away $10,000???? ;)

The only time I ever won anything was when 99X was giving away tix to Orbital/Crystal Method/Low Fidelity Allstars. What a great show that was at the Tab.

That's a great giveaway! I bet it was an awesome show. The Tabernacle is a fantastic venue to see concerts.

Now if only I had won 311 tickets......

Congrats! Is this the Criterion set of all their videos or something else?

I won Rush tickets from 96 Rock about 15 years ago and a $100 gc or something from 99X. Now I just listen to my iPod or NPR, and they only ask for money, rather than giving it away. ;)

It's called "Awesome! I F-in shot that!", or something like that. It's concert footage where they handed out 60 camcorders to people all over the arena and edited it all together. It was the one that was at Regal Cinemas a few months ago for a one-night only concert. There's also 2 1/2 hours of extras too. Not a huge prize, but I never win anything, so it's big to me. :)

Ah, okay. I read something about that on DVD Talk. Cool.

Biggest thing I ever won was a 52" (non-HD) TV from the East Lake Publix. It was the big prize in their grand opening celebration contest. There was just this little shoebox with a hole cut out of the top for entries, with a few pads of sheets just asking for name, address, and phone. I found the manager and asked if there was any rule against entering multiple times and he said, "Ummm...Does it say you can't do that on the sheet?" It didn't, so I filled out about 150 of them on my lunch breaks over the next few days (I was working with AmeriCorps at the time, serving in an elementary school down there).

I had completely forgotten about it when they called me two months later to come pick it up. We had to borrow my Dad's truck and none of the store employees would help us because they had been using it in their break room and were pissed about having to give it up (in fact, they kept the remote and I had to go back later to get it). The thing was massive, but thankfully it had wheels, so between my wife, my friend, and I, we were able to get it into the pickup. Getting it down the stairs into the apartment we were in at the time was a BITCH, however.

WOW! That's awesome!! You definitely got me beat.....wanna trade prizes? ;)

I know beggers can't be choosers and all, but it's kinda crappy that they were using your prize in their break room. They shouldn't have been allowed to open it, if it was going to be used as a prize. Still, great work!

It was in good shape. Still looked new, so I wasn't about to complain. They still had the box, actually, though we had to take it back out because it wouldn't fit in the (full-size) pickup truck with it. We smashed it down and used it as a slide/ramp help get it in and out of the truck and to cushion it while it was in there.

The sad part was I had to sell it about two years later. We moved to Greenville last year and it wouldn't have fit in our house up there. Went for $375 in a yard sale. The TV itself wasn't that great. It was more about the fact that I had won it. The real irony is we ended up moving back less than 8 mos. later. My wife eased the pain by promising we'd get an HDTV in the near future, which we did last month. It's much smaller (32" LCD HDTV) but the picture's a million times better and it doesn't take up half the living room.

Well, you got me beat. I have a 32" Sony, but it's non-HD and a CRT, not LCD. Still, it's a great TV and I got it for Christmas, so it didn't cost me anything. Welcome back to the ATL, by the way!

I went to the TRU in Buckhead, Duluth, Lithonia and Cobb Parkway and didn't see it.

I saw the film in the theater, and it's great fun. If you're a BBoys fan, you will enjoy it. I was just talking about this movie with a friend over the weekend-- glad to hear the DVD is out. Congrats!

A quick, easy request:

1) Go here: http://www.mp3.com/feature/rock-the-bells/

2) Click the button next to EDDIE MEEKS.

That's it! The guy is great, and you can listen to several of his tracks on that site if you like-- I recommend "The Bitterdose" and "Fist Fulla Biscuits". Please believe me that he deserves to win this! Support your local talent!

Thanks,
Gray

Gamerush stores are rare around here. They're inside Blockbuster Video stores. They can sometimes have decent sales/trade-in bonuses, but I've only been to a couple of them, overall.

Damn that's to far of a drive from where I live. Any chance you grabbed a extra?

In case anybody is interested, EB Snellville had 1 copy of Marvel vs. Capcom 2 for the XBOX and Gamestop Lilburn had 1 copy of Gitaroo Man. I picked up Baldur's Gate 2 XBOX at the GS Lilburn. Interesting to see so many (OK, 3) rare games in the same day...

FYI the Roswell Compusa is going to be closing in the next 2-3 months. Expect them to start having % off everything. I normally stay clear of compusa since I am not a fan of the chain or the prices. However I might stop in when they hit the 50% off range...

This is going around on the main VGD forum above, but I figured I'd let y'all know that the new Perimeter SuperTarget had a bunch of these still in the case at this price. (I haven't checked any other Targets.)

It's a very fun game with a smidge of Metroid/Castlevania underneath all its cutsieness. Plus, the rumblepack thing is neat.
