Yo I have 4 PS2 to GCN converters, and looking to get rid of 2.

Hit me up if you're in the market for one.
Yoooooouu PM'z

Beef, if T6 is out on console by then it is a definitely shoe-in for EVO. I might be the only one but I can't see SC4 at EVO.

Was about to post just that.

I sincerely doubt that SC4 will be at Evo but I could be wrong.

My guesses:

T5DR
MvC2
Brawl
HD Remix
Blaz Blue (as long as it remains competitive)
SF4
3s

I know in the past they've only run 6 games, but I don't see which one they'd get rid of. Perhaps I'd guess either T5DR or Blaz Blue depending.
I still wonder when MvC2 is getting it's online release... probably at least 3 months after SFIV release... or later to coincide with MvC3.
I can see them getting rid of 3s, mainly because of the length some matches take. The finals this past year consisted of Chuns, a couple of Yuns and Oros, and one Akuma. The last game took waaaaaaaay too long, thanks to a Chun ditto. Shit got annoying so fast.

Mahvel is a lock, as is HD Remix. Brawl, I could see them being on the fence about. It got a good draw, but so many people complained about items being turned on, it wouldn't surprise me if they didn't have it altogether just to save themselves a headache.

I don't want to see T5DR at EVO.

We've played one game back before, but not 2, not going to deal with that mess.

My ideal lineup is:

SF4
HD Remix
Tekken 6: BR
Blaz Blue
Brawl
SC4

Yeah but if T6: BR isn't out on a console....

Also.... does SC4 have a big / dedicated community? Never really looked into it.

I'm thinking Brawl will be gone by 2k10.

I'd be iffy about BlazBlue. Isn't most of the BlazBlue community comprised of the GG community? If so, I would think another game for the GG/BB community would definitely not be a shoe in, especially since the "incident" at EVO 2k7.

I'd think CvS2 would have a good chance of being taken off, the scene is dying off pretty fast.

SC4? I'm thinking side tourny.

For this upcoming EVO, I'd think
SF4
STHD
[insert latest tekken console release]
Brawl (hopefully items off)
MvC2

These I'm unsure:
BlazBlue (I'd say 50/50 chance)
King of Fighters XII (I'd say odds are against it being included)
3s (I think it depends on how long Daigo's super parry rings in people's ears)

I see the length of match complaint for 3s but that game is still hella popular. I'd be surprised if it wasn't included.

They should promote it as "Last year to play 3s" and make a big deal about it. Call it like the Final Tournament or something... that would be pretty cool and motivate a lot of people to play, to be the final champion.

GGs to Busta and Phrost. in HD Remix. It was fun. :)

I'd love to play anything at EVO, but I would get outright smoked. I need to go next year for sure, just to be there.
people hop on SFHD 360! I havent got to play in mad long and I'm on right now
I'll hop on in a bit.

ok, so TvC is a ton of fun. My only complaint is the characters look a little rough around the edges, but I'll blame that on the Wii. Still looks great in 16x9 480p though :)

Can't wait for my converter to show up. The Classic controller is not anywhere near consistent on the diagonals. It's like playing SFA3Max on PSP all over again...

Also, love that during the boss fight
your health is partially refilled for both characters
. Overall reminded me much more of the fight against Master Hand in SSB than a real fighting game boss, but that's cool, it was fun.

I wonder how many FMVs there are for the endings? I got to watch
Ryu kick a bug from Lost Planet's ass
great animation, very well done

I can't wait for some good translation FAQs (mebbe a translation iso patch eventually...), as I have NO clue what all the shit that came onscreen after I beat it said though. I think I got 800 pts or something, since I saw 800, and unlocked some BGM or something?

Is there any point to collecting the credit letters on the bike?

Sorry for the long post, back to playing :D

Man, I wish I could hop onto SFHD, but I'm putting together my TV stand and as a result, my room is a complete fucking mess right now and absolutely no gaming stuff is hooked up :(

Tomorrow, I'll be connecting a lotta wires...

Any idea how much longevity the game'll have? Like, are there any bonus modes, or is it mainly just the arcade mode, survival mode, etc.?

No idea, as I can't read any of it, lol. There are a handful of different options to pick from, and I've seen screenshots of minigame stuff too. There seems to be unlockables (as I mentioned, a bunch of different things popped up after I beat it once), so that should help. I'm pretty sure one of the options I picked was Survival, as it was NOT the arcade icon, but played very similarly. I didn't play that long enough to find out though.

Strangest thing is the special moves, as QCB+any of the three attack buttons = hurricane kick for Ryu for example. It's simplified, but I honestly suck at the more complex elements of Street Fighter, so I'm cool with that.

Edit: just glanced at Gamefaqs, and at the very least you can unlock 4 characters using the pts you get in Arcade mode. I only got 800 on my quick playthrough and you need 8000 to get all four listed there, so at least ~10 playthroughs? Then there are multiple endings too, so that should help longevity.

Edit 2: OOOO, it seems every character has their own ending, and you see it depending on who delivers the final blow to the boss, so you gotta play through arcade at least, what, ~20 times (how many characters are there again?)

Time Attack perhaps?

Sweet. I love unlocking shit in fighting games. That's part of the reason I spent so many dozens of hours playing Soul Calibur 1 and Marvel Vs. Capcom 2.

I'm so much more excited for TVC than I was a week ago.

heh, yeah, and even Weapon Master mode in SC2. Although, I did cheat in MVC2 and left it in training overnight, exited in the moring and reaped the rewards\\:D/

I just remember spending a lot more time on SC1. Ironically, SC2 had unlockable weapons, but I didn't feel like it was worth playing that game for long.

I definitely unlocked all the art in SC1, though. Because I'm awesome. And SC1 is awesome.

chac i saw this on gaf regarding mini games and stuff
But one thing that I am really impressed about are the minigames. Them shits are fun as hell. The PTX-40A minigame is by far the best one as it's a top down shooter that I'd love for them to expand on in a Wii-ware release or something.

There is a LOT of stuff to unlock. I got Saki (1000 zenny) after beating the game once (800 points) and then doing a few mini games in original mode (200 points for doing three of them), which are all Wiimote-based. The game will ask you to remove any controller attachments first before entering the original game mode.

While this is no big deal for a fighting game, it's still nice to see good endings again. You get a slideshow/text ending, followed by a short animated cut scene for whoever landed the final blow against the last boss, then you get to play the Doronjo and friends bicycle mini game during the credits.

Whoa... the mini games are actually cool?

This is just absolutely badass! I can't even tell you guys how badly I've wanted a fighter with crazy random shit and unlockables like Capcom used to do.

See, and this is actually a legitimate use of the Wii-remote. If you're gonna do stupid mini games, might as well make them (A) cool and (B) a bonus to the actual game.

Tekken always had great unlockables.

Tekken 1 - Devil Kazuya outfit
Tekken 2 - Roger/Alex
Tekken 3 - Gon/Dr. B
Tekken Tag - like 40 different dudes
Tekken 4 - Don't remember
Tekken 5 - Devil Jin, some other stuff

Oh man, I loved Tekken Bowling in Tag... and even Tekken Force Mode in Tekken 3... I played more of those modes than I care to admit.

Yea Tekken Force mode was f'n sweet. Me and my buddies were about 12 when that game came out and the day I got Dr. B was like the best day of that summer. I remember I was the best at it but not good enough to get through with regular characters so we used Gon and just spun the whole time until the boss fights... we switched since it was tiring pressing Circle the whole time.

Anoaday. Volleyball!

Or whatever that ho says.

Also, Same way, unalikely.

I doubt anyone knows what I'm talking about, but it's from those mini games in Rival Schools.

Rival Schools still had the best lineup of mini games ever... it's true.

I don't feel there is a lot of replay value in TvC outside the versus mode.

Esp with the limited character selection.

Just my two centz.
Any chance Virtua Fighter 5 gets in to Evo?
Well, once VF becomes more popular than Tekken, and who knows when or if that'll ever happen.

I think I played the mini games more than the actual arcade mode of Rival schools.
What fighters have a ton of unlockables?

- the 3 past MK games
- SC
- SCIII
- SCIV (though it's more boring than SCIII)
- Smash
- Virtua Fighter 4/5

what else?
Tekken 5 on PS2 was probably the best bang for your buck for a fighting game.

It'll be nice in Tekken 6 to have online clans/teams. I'll be planning to head up the CAG team if MM dosn't beat me to it.

Also yeah, the mini-games in Rival Schools rocked... I gotta pop that disc in sometime.

Phew, this TV stand is basically built. I just gotta drop on the glass and I'm done. But I'm soooo tired. I think I'll just wait till tomorrow.

This is nice, though. I have room for all my systems on this thing.

Including the Wii, which will become the Tatsu system.

Even my Mom liked Tekken Bowl in TTT!

This may have been a misunderstanding, but I asked Sega over Twitter if the was any hope for a U.S. console port of VF5R and I got back the following...

"Ask and ye shall receive. http://www.sega.com/games/?g=83 :)"

At the very least, I'm glad they responded. Good PR, their doing it right!:D

You can do it RR!

I'll be doing an SDT one, but I'll definitely join in on my other PSN acct.

Who knows maybe I'll do the US Tekken 6 arcade stick :) ?

SOOOO! Whats up dudes, I just got back from 5 hours or so of playing and watching Blazblue. Fun! Excellent stuff!

It feels really weird compared to most other fighting games in terms of the jumping physics, like its way less floaty than GG but it's still fastish. Wakeup reminds me of Tekken alot too!

Jin's normals are really really realllllly slow, but other than that he's really great. It makes playing a rushy ragna player a bitch, but then again I suck right now since its day one for me!

I fucking hate Arakune already, that dudes so annoying and takes like 20 minutes to kill anybody!

I'll probably head back tommorow after my Dentist appointment.

lol yes I played an Arakune one time, dood locked me down in the corner and I jus could not get out!!

he was like perfect distance away from me to keep hitting me with bugs, I cant FD out of it coz he's hitting me with projectiles, if I regular block my guard seesaw goes down, if I tries jumping out I jus got hit!!

it was brutal! everybody watching was laughing at me!!!
