Anyone notice the WoW cheezmintz, Gunm?
Yah, from the most recent patch. When they start translating into in-game goodies, I'll be more excited. :p

Played a little WoW last night, in fact. Just a little, though. Worked on my new draenei shaman, but only got him from lvl 6-9. :p

Had to let the PS3 sit overnight to DL Resistance 2 beta and Valkyrie Demo.
Wait, a game being repetitive = bad?

Every single video game you play is repetitive. :dunce:
I don't know if this was directed at my post TFN, but if it was I'd say you have a point that games are repetitive but there's good repetitive and bad repetitive.

For example I played Bully just after trying GTA4 (seems like a good comparison) and it felt new, there were a lot of good missions which were fun and even the stuff that you could do outside of the missions used a lot of new ideas. Whereas GTA4 felt like exactly the same game I'd played years before, none of it felt fun or new, it all seemed like a chore.

GTA wasn't really about trying new things, but more like sticking to the same formula that worked so well and adding a few things here and there to help keep you from boredom (cover system, gps, targeting system).

I guess I just don't get how you could shit on a game for being repetitive when you're riding a first person shooter's penis. I remember playing Resistance years ago, back when it was called Killzone, and the terrible looking aliens hadn't infected the world yet. :dunce:

True that. Most of the FPS and shooters make very little adjustments but people act like it's the Gaming Revolution. I'm playing F.E.A.R. right now and it's as good as any of the other FPS that have come out in the last two years.

You mean the time warp isn't a gaming revolution?

Remember Braid and how repetitive that was? You don't even do shit, just go back in time all day. WEEEE-OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOP!

...God, that game sucks.

http://gamevideos.1up.com/video/id/22236

this is the craziest video i've seen in a long time. I keep watching it for some reason. And I kind of want wii music just to make batshit insane things like that.

But not For $50.

And F.E.A.R is a great game. A greater game than Resistance. I played it and it was just a bit dull. Resistance was a better call of duty game than Call of Duty 4 or 2 were, but it was still kinda meh. Not having high hopes for the sequel to get rid of the hollowness of the guns or the "floating over the ground" feel of your character.

Play Far Cry 2 if you want a new experience in a shooter. Or Left 4 Dead, that looks like it's doing some interesting, new ideas.
Wait, a game being repetitive = bad?

You could make that argument, but when a game is repetitive to the point that it's boring, then yeah, that=bad. And with Gears, it was boring. Run 5 feet, take cover, shoot a wave of enemies. Run another 5 feet and take cover. Repeat for the rest of the game.

Not that fun IMO. Some people enjoy it, and that's good. More power to them.

I really don't understand how that's different than Resistance when you remove what platform they're on.

That game really dragged near the end as well.. the enemies rarely even had variation, and even though the guns were weird all you ever really had to use was the sniper rifle, shotgun, and that alien rifle that shot targeting bullets..

Resistance had vehicles, and the occasional bullet sponge huge dude.

Gears had the vehicle section, the light-dark gameplay, greater variation in enemies, and multiplayer/co-op that was more than an afterthought. But it's an Xbox game, so it automatically loses points from the beginning.

playing the R2 beta is RLY awesome and fun....day1 for me
Heck yeah it is. I just played some 8 player co-op and that was some of the most fun I had all year. Also had fun during DM. Although I already preordered Resistance, it has SHOT up on my wishlist just under LBP and VC. The beta is too much fun.

That was playing playing the beta with you and others whoknows (in that co-op match). I enjoyed being the medic.

I don't understand why people will gush over that bullshit co-op mode in R2 that's just a bullshit version of TF2 vs the fucking AI and ignore the brilliance of Team Fortress 2. (it was ignored on consoles, anyway)

When something is PS3 exclusive it just becomes INSTANTLY AWESOME in some people's eyes, though.

Yeah, that was badass. Can't wait to be able to play more when the full game is released. Co-op was even better than I thought it would be. I mean, I expected it to be awesome since it was 8 players, but that added with classes and the huge amounts of enemies thrown at you at once just blew me away.

Can't wait for the game! Glad I requested the 4th off. :D

?

Sorry, I don't get how Gears is any more or less boring than any other FPS out there.

Honestly, shooting things and blowing shit up never gets old to me. :p

Bb, buu, but.. you don't get it! The cell broadband engine of emotions creates all your gameplay dreams come true! And the Blu Ray drive staves off disappointment!

I hate a lot of first person and third person shooters, but not for the reason of their main gameplay mechanic being boring.

Its like hating on Mario for jumping.
Bb, buu, but.. you don't get it! The cell broadband engine of emotions creates all your gameplay dreams come true! And the Blu Ray drive staves off disappointment!
Dang, you're out of control.

That's just fanboys in general, not just the PS3. Exclusives always get over hyped by fanboys of the particular system. You just have to learn who those people are on forums and not pay any attention to their impressions of games.

NeoGAF is notorious for this..

They're all up in a frenzy about some mediocre platformer coming out next week that lets you make you own levels..

And Motorstorm: This is how the first should have been.

You never really see that for 360/Wii stuff.. people just play what they like.
Just saw High School Musical :) Now I have to finish my article!

It was
Shockingly entertaining. Like 3/4. I can't believe I just said that
Leave now and slit your throat on the way out.

Time to load up Fable 2 for more fun with poor people!

play the beta with 8 people, or hell even just 2. its fun as hell...TF2 is a epic fail that only dykes play

ummmmm

sometimes people are so wrong that you just don't know what to do but laugh at their anime lolipedo avatar.

Sounds an awful lot like the Gamecube days. They stuck together and proclaimed game after game as the next big thing.
play the beta with 8 people, or hell even just 2. its fun as hell...TF2 is a epic fail that only dykes play
jer hasn't played the beta and he loves ripping on anything related to a Sony platform (especially PS3, since he's trying to find any excuse to not own one anymore, but who cares, just don't take your anger out on it every second). Lastly jer, PS3 is far from being a GC. It will easily surpass the userbase GC had and GC just couldn't sell really any multi-platform games (which PS3 can). But I prefer to stay out of console arguments and just have fun. :D If anything, the Wii is like a GC but its game quality isn't as good, tons of shovelware, and it's actually selling.

TF2 is not bad, but R2 co-op is way too fun. It might even top Warhawk as my favorite multi-player online game, but that's just me. I so feel like playing R2 co-op again.

sure jer, sure. just keep on bashing on games you havent played. TF2 is a fail to me since it was a big let down from the first one. Plus, its just plain boring (to me).

just hurry and sell your PS3 so i dont have to hear your bitching anymore

Anyway, I did download the Lego Batman demo and I'm about to play it. I didn't really follow the game. I probably said it, but I'm looking to buy Rock Band 2 tomorrow, finally. :D That will probably put me at level 6 as far as trophies are concerned.

The PS3 will definitely outsell the Gamecube sometime in 2009. They've currently got 5 million to go with the holidays coming up.

However, present numbers are present numbers. With one more week before the new PS3 bundles launch in Japan, there is a small chance that the PS3 will track below the Gamecube one last time (Japan)

PS3+in+terms+of+GCN

Other comparisons: After 101 weeks, PS3 is where PS2 was at 22.0 weeks (July 29, 2000), where PSP was at 53.6 weeks (December 15, 2005), where GCN was at 102.5 weeks (August 27, 2003), and where Wii was at 24.0 weeks (May 13, 2007).

These things are largely irrelevant, but its a spectator sport :)

Is there anything legit about that or is it just rambling ? Because either way, to me it looks serious, but like, the rest of your post sounds like you're running a circle around the chart to make it sound "scarier" than it really is  Either way, excellent post.

And I'm totally in for some GGT R2 beta fun stuff once I get back up to school/download it.

I've always thrown my support behind the market leader, much like Square-Enix before this current generation. I went NES-SNES-PS1-PS2-Wii. Single console owner every time except for the PS2 cycle.

Team Fortress 2 is the best multiplayer fps ever. Shut the fuck up.

That quiz, I got:
The Daredevil
Reckless Competitive Fun Veteran (RCFV)
When playing video games, you look for excitement and excitement only - any game that doesn't offer it, gets pushed to the side. You are the Daredevil and you play games for the thrill. You have probably been gaming for quite awhile and one thing you have learned is that the high that some games give you is unmatched elsewhere in life.

You prefer the more exciting competitive games, although playing with anyone who takes it too seriously will turn you off. You generally look for games that offer constant excitement, quick load times, and few preparations. Anything that slows you down is detrimental to the overall experience you seek to achieve.

The Terminator
Reckless Competitive Serious Veteran (RCSV)
You are the Terminator - you MUST win at any cost. You leave your friends in the dust. While others are out having fun, you're accomplishing those impossible missions. Discovering those secrets that take hours. You'll buy as many games as possible to become the best.

After you're done obliterating games as a single player, you take your domination to the online world. A sense of pleasure arises as you become the top scorer in every game you play - the more competitive it is, the better. If you happen to find people better than you, it doesn't faze you. Move on to beat everyone inferior first. Then go back and destroy your opponents with your new skills. No hurry. Especially when you enjoy stomping everyone who gets in your way.

Once you master every aspect of a game, the mission is complete. Time to move on to the next challenge. Old games will sit on your shelf collecting dust like trophies, reminders of your victories. Most games will appeal to you, across all genres. Teamwork annoys you, though, since it doesn't let you conquer all. But if your team is from Skynet as well, you'll have a blast.
Sounds almost right, except that I do like playing on a team.

Same. I hate these fucking things. Parts are true. Parts are not. Lowest common denominator for the lose.

I'm crazy bored. All I've got with me is Disgaea... I'm not sure if that's good or bad  though I suppose I could fire it up and try to level a few more characters up a bit.

And I'm going to see the new Saw with a friend of mine for his birthday. Man dates for the win
