It works, thanks for the advice. Although I got distracted by Grid and skipped CVIII for tonight. At least I can rest knowing that of my Wii games, the only ones I can't play at all right now are Ghost Squad, Wii Sports, and Super Mario Galaxy.

Downloadad the SKATE 2 demo and Suikoden, but only had time for Suikoden today. It has all the makings of a bad RPG Maker design, but for some reason I'm liking it a lot. I'll try out SKATE 2 later on tonight, if this pizza doesn't put me in a food coma.

Most suikoden games seem kinda generic until one of your friends with a bunch of character development gets offed really quickly, and then its like "oh shit, what the fuck is happening?" for the rest of the game.
I agree with that all the way. I want KoFXII far more than SF4.
yup me too...i have zero hype for SFIV (though i have hype for the arcade stick). but im pumped for KoF XII
I have zero hype for SF4 as well...maybe it's the awful facial animations. I don't know.
Count me in that party as well. I really, really dislike the art style, and I understand the game still plays on a 2D plane despite having 3D characters, but it still looks really awkward IMO.

SF4 looks awesome, but definitely low on the list as far as great games.

Shout out to my boy The Crotch and whoknows! Didn't get to respond in the bullshit jerk-off thread because it was closed by the time I read it, but thanks for coming out!

Never played FEAR, but I DLed the FEAR 2 demo. I'll probably give it a go tomorrow.

Halo, can't you just use two pen lights or something in place of the sensor bar?

I'm definitely looking forward to SF4, and I'm buying it. But yeah, I don't like the art style much at all. It looks way too goofy.
Hahahahaha

My cat chewed through my Wii's sensor bar cable.

Hahahaha

You can't do anything with the Wii without a sensor bar attached.

Hahahahaha

Does anyone want a free kitten? His name is Monkey. I'll pay for shipping.
Couldn't you splice it and solder it back together? I surely would.

Also, I'm beyond hyped for SFIV.

The art style of SFIV doesn't bother me. My only concerns were whether or not the actual game itself would be any good and who was on the roster. That's pretty much it.

Don't let your distaste for the art design screw you out of an excellent game. Earth Defense Force 2017 looks like a last-gen
game(because it pretty much is), but it's a really enjoyable game that I just crossed the 68-hour mark with and am on my forth play-through on. Like the Bo Derek movie, "10", looks aren't everything.:cool::cool:

I have hype for SFIV. But I'm afraid that if I don't buy a stick, and even if I buy a pad, I'll suck at it. There is also an issue of money, and when/if I buy it, can I get said stick or pad with the game somewhere (NEW of course).

I've been playing more Valkyria Chronicles, and I've got to say it's really, really good. If you own a PS3 and like RPG's, and don't get Valkyria Chronicles...I'm pretty sure you ripped an Angel's wings off. You...you don't hate Angels...do you?

I've always kinda liked KOF games, but they've always had choppy gameplay to me. Figuring out combos is always a chore. SFIV looks smoother and more fun.

My sensor bar troubles will be solved soon enough. The whole repairing the cable bit wouldn't work because I snapped the bar in order to avoid snapping my cat. The wireless ones on Amazon were on sale so one of those is incoming. I just hope that I'm somehow able to endure 4-6 days of no Wii Sports.

Doesn't the 2 candles thing work? Light 2 candles and place them on the left and right side of the TV. I think i read this like 2 years back or so.

EDIT: Yep it does work :D

Weird. If I become desperate I'll try the two lights thing. Or I could buy the same wireless bar at GS and just return the new Amazon one once it arrives.

Either way, unless House of the Dead 1 shows up on Wiiware tomorrow, I don't need a sensor anytime soon.

I'll give the game a shot, but the artwork is really shitty. It reminds me of SF:EX for the PS2 -- same with the new characters like Abel and Rufus... it seems like they just remade SF2 with a "new look" and threw the new characters in there to make it a "new" game. Videos seem to make like it plays just like SF2, mostly... so I'll try it out when it drops. Not really hyped though... I'm happy with SSF2THDR.

Oh god. No wii sports? How will you live?! [/sarcasm]

;)

If you actually look into SF4's gameplay systems its pretty different. Focus attacks, ex attacks (they were in SF3, but still, different than SF2) Ultras, dashing, and all the new mixups of strategy that go with those are going to give it a very different feel than SF2.

To the casual player they might seem the same, but that's true for any fighting game unless they're seeing the difference between Mortal Kombat and Guilty Gear or something.

I don't think the Street Fighter fans wanted a huge departure from the game's mechanics, just a new fighting system with new twists and new strategies.

And I love the art style - I can't imagine any other way to do Street Fighter in 3D. The designs in SF2 were pretty cartoony as well, and going realistic with Street Fighter's characters ends up making goofy looking things like SF:The Movie or the EX series. I don't even think about it being 3D anymore, since the game plays virtually the same as a 2D game with hitboxes and all that shit.

Nah, I didn't want a huge departure from the games mechanics, but from all the stuff I've read about it and seen gameplay of, focus attacks seem to be the "main" addition to the mechanics. Unless focus attacks (wee, press mp and mk, wee!) are extremely useful, I doubt I'll even use them.

Part of my disenchantment with the idea of SF4 is that HDR just dropped... and it has goregous hand-drawn 2d sprites in HD with refined (or classic) gameplay mechanics. I don't see how I'm supposed to want a new game with a couple twists and some bad artwork 2-3 months later? I don't know why they went for that ridiculous artwork either -- I mean, the body designs are mostly alright (save Rufus... god damn fat fucks invading my fighters... what. the. hell. :(), it's the faces that are unbelieveably horrendous... they're like exaggerated caricatures... it's on the level of some Facebreaker/Ready2Rumble looking BS. :(

Can't wait for SFIV!

Edit: I remember not liking SFIII when it came out because it wasn't like SFII at all. However I was a kid at the time. After giving it a little time I thought it was great.

I think you're wrong, but it's okay to disagree.

Focus attacks seem to be a sort of easier to do parry that will allow you to absorb a hit and hopefully time the focus attack just right to counterattack after absorbing an attack? I haven't played it but it seems like the superarmor in the vs. series, except useable when you want and you take damage, but it heals after time?

I'm pretty sure focus canceling is key to the game's system and how the best players will play.

I just think it's a bit foolish to dismiss SF4 before any of us have probably played it in depth, and just because the characters have goofy faces for 3-5 seconds during the end of a match.

Nah, not dismissing it at all, just kind of put off by some of what I've seen.

The focus attacks seem to be some sort of easier version of parrying, for sure. Until I get my hands on the game and try em out, I can't say whether or not they'll be game changing though...

I plan on giving it a fair shot with my (non-custom) arcade stick when it drops... At least it has most of the characters I care about... the only way I'll be EXTREMELY unhappy with it is if they somehow pull a Tekken 4 Jin on one of the classic characters.

As far as SF3 went, I never got to play it until I picked up the SF:25th Anniversary for the PS2 for $10. I wish I had been able to play it in the arcades. I wish HDRemix would have lended itself to that game as well... I enjoyed it immensely.

I guess it depends on your character too - I play Chun in ST, and she feels so different in 3S, and I'm not sure how she's going to be in SF4. It could completely change the game.

Focus attacks are more strategic than parrying, since you actually eat the damage for a short amount of time ( you recover it unless you get hit during the recovery, I think).

And, barring Dan, they're the only way to link Ultra's in a safe manner. (IE: FA stun, or FADC out of a launch)

Yeah setting up those linked ultras seems to be a huge part of the game- Almost like setting up a checkmate in chess.
skate 2 = Hype

I have zero interest.
it's not for everyone. I put it in the same category as most sports games, it's just a very different sport since it's culture based more.

I was runner up when we had the 3rd strike tourney. I never really learned to parry effectively, but this was yet another game subjected to the whims of the 360 pad. I don't like 3rd strike as much as some people do, though I still really, really like the game.

Been playing Rock Band 2 for a couple hours. I would totally have snoo-snoo with the chick in the glasses and leopard bikini. erm. I mean. um.

Skate 2 is on my list. I liked the Skate 1 demo, but decided to wait for Skate 2. I'll get 2 when it drops in price.
