I didn't see this mentioned anywhere, and when I mentioned it another trade thread, it sounded like no one knew about it.

Anyway, In the new May Catalog B&M, the one with Star Wars on the front, it lists:

Trade your N64 plus 6 games for $50 credit. Since they sell the used systems in-store for $17.99, this may be YMMV.

Also works for trade PSX plus 5 games for $50.

Thanks Xclaude for the scan!

I went in over the weekend and traded in my ps1+5 games and n64+6 games. The clerks knew nothing of the deal. I was able to find it in the add on the counter. The ps deal rang up right but on the n64 I had one POX. I brought one extra just in case and was able to get the deal. I still have about 10 n64 games left. So I may buy another system and trade those in as well.

should i trade in my orange n64? or buy another one?

are any places running B2G1 free?

where is the cheapest place to buy a playstation or n64

Pawn shops & garage sales, most likely.

Took advantage of this today.
Traded in my PSX with Tiger Woods '99, PGA Tour '98, GTA (GH), GTA2(GH) and Twisted Metal 2 (GH). Can't believe those golf games worked. Tiger Woods is normally a 10 cent trade in.
Knockout Kings came up as a POX but I had a few spare games on hand for that situation.

Worked for me:

N64 with
Automobili Lambo
San Fran Rush
South Park
Goldeneye
WWF Wrestlemania 2000
Rogue Squadron

The clerks told me the ad is a mistake and should be 25, but they are honoring it as long as the customer "insists on on the deal."

Got my copy of Twilight Princess for an N64 and 6 pretty worthless games.

The deal didn't work when I went in.

I traded in my psone and five games and told him about the deal. He knew of it and tried doing it for 50. Then he says "oh yeah, i forgot, it's only 25". I was like WAHHHHHHH, he's like yeah look at the sign. Shows me one that says 25 for 5 + psone, 50 for something else.

But, then I pulled brave fencer musashi and he was like OMG OMG CAN I HAVE IT? And I was like...sure, why not.

So i'm walking out with what I thought was 25 credit...looks like he bumped it up to 35 for me :D Must've been that musashi game that made him happy. So I walked back and gave him a complete Legend of Dragoon with a non-working disc 1 as thanks.

Most EB employees aren't even aware of the deal. You should have specifically referenced page 14 of the May catalog.
But if your happy with what you got that's all that counts.

If you would like to keep the orange system just do the deal and then buy your N64 back the next day for $17.99. You'd still have about $30 in store credit afterwards, which is better than the $25 they were offering for the system+games just a week ago.

Awe, that kinda sucks - but I guess I was thrown off by the big sign that looked exactly like the ad, only with all the prices fixed.

what are the chances that an ebgames will still have the may catalog in store, now that it is june?

because when i called my ebgames and asked about the deal, he was looking at the poster that said $25, so i told him about the catalog but he went and said it probably expired at the end of may, so i might go down there and see if they still have the catalog, but i don't want to waste a trip if they already replaced it with june

thanks

I just went 3 days ago and my store had plenty. I don't think they will toss them until they get the new months in - Although I don't know when that is. As long as you don't have POX games, It will ring up automatically.

I think im going to do this deal twice. Im not sure whether or not to buy a DS or a PSP. Which would make more sense? I could either pay 50 for a DS or 150 for a PSP. Im not sure which I should do. Anyone have a recomendation?

my eb didn't know about this either, but when i showed them the catalog, they said they would do it but i can't use the credit towards my pre-order of the xbox 360 which is the only thing i want right now. so maybe i'll just sell it on ebay considering i still have all of the original packaging.

That's BS. If I was you, I would talk to a manager. Are they saying you can't pre-order a 360 at all or you just can't use your credit? The frickin ad say's "Upgrade your System Today". You could just get the credit, pre-order the 360 with cash, then use the credit to help pay it off. Better yet, buy some more systems and games, and trade them back in at another EB and build up enough credit to buy the whole thing.

Do it 7 times and get both?

i already have my xbox 360 pre-ordered with $50 down, but they said i can't use the credit towards anything that isn't already out. i was just going to add it to my pre-order.

I also did the deal twice. I used my credit to buy a used DS. I told them that I wanted a new one but he mentioned that many of the used DS's are in brand new condition. I wound up getting one that had the box, Metroid and everything that a new one has for only $20 extra. I already have a PSP but just wanted the DS due to some of the different style games. You really just need to look at the game line-up of both systems to see which one you want the most. They both play very different types of games. If I had to live with only one of them, I would chose the PSP.

I kinda needed money so I took a PSone, a power cord, Dino Crisis, and a blockbuster stickered MOH: Underground with no manual (I didn't feel like finding the manual) with me to EB.

Using my Edge credit, I bought 3 $1.99 PO games, and a AV cable (Action Bass, Tiger Woods 99, and Master Blaster Blasting Again). Since the guys know me there, they didn't even bother fishing out the games, or the AV cable (we couldn't find it, but the system says there was one so he rung it up).

I come back a minute later with my own items, and walk out with $40 cash. I know it's 20% less, but I needed the money, and that wasn't bad at all (The Edge credit was from other system tradeins this week, and I still have $18 left on it).

Wait till the 360 comes out, and then pay up using credit :D

Thanks for this deal.... went in last night and turned a $47 investment into $100 credit. Couldn't have come at a better time too... my son's birthday is next week, and he really wants a Nintendo DS... now I'll be able to afford it.

Thanks!
There are over 1500 EB stores, and believe it or not, most of the employees are not jerks (if you consider them jerks by just doing their job, then I shake my head at you)

A manager who's older looking and works the most hours? You're pulling my leg, aren't you? What type of messed up EB do you go to?
Exactly. You're telling me there's over 1500 EB stores. Now what are the chances that at least one jerk works at one of them? Surely there aren't that many jerks in the world to go around... are there?

All I know is that I take my business elsewhere, and I get satisfactory deals, and that's good enough for me.

Ok, traded in my N64 with six games for $50. Didn't get a hassle or anything. Just showed them the ad and it went through without a problem.

Here are the games I traded in, just to confirm they're PO (though no real surprises).

Perfect Dark
Rocket Robot on Wheels
Blast Corp.
NHL 99
Rogue Squadron
Star Wars Shadow of the Empire

While I was there, I combed through the PS1 games looking for cheap PO titles. I'm going to a different EB tomorrow to trade in my Playstation system with a very non-mint copy of Driver I had lying around and the following games I picked up today. They were all labeled PO (and cost $1.49 each), so hopefully they'll work.

Trickin' Snowboarding
Coolboarders 2001
Tony Hawk 2
Expendable

Ignorant of the rest of the thread, is there any excempted games from this? Also where do I get the ad for this deal?

anyone know if this is still going on... my eb had no idea of it and no papers left when i was up there... only thing they had was window stickers that said $25 for N64 and 5 games or psx and 5 games...
is there ne deals on trading in dreamcasts?
No, your best bet is to list them in the Trade Forum here.

i did the n64 deal twice yesterday, unaware of the exclusion list on games. However, the store has a ton of copies of star wars racer and nba courtside 98 for $1.49 each b/c, so I picked those up to complete the deal. The lady was really nice and even let me keep them in the box for the trade in (they were going right back on the floor anyway.)

so, to crunch the numbers:

$17.99 n64
6x $1.49 PO games

$26.93 (24.24 after edge)

if bought with edge credit there's no tax so this nets about $25 each time you do it.

Building on fivecardstud's post, here's a short list of $1.49 PO N64 games.

Star Wars Racer
NBA Courtside 98
Wailae Golf
NHL 99
NBA Live 99
WCW/NWO Revenge

I'm sure there are more, but those are the ones I found today as I sifted through the boxes at my local EB. If you discover more, please post.

SW: Racer is only $1.50? Hell, I may have to pick that up to play. Not the best game ever, but it does bring back some good memories. Thanks for the list, and go ahead and add Triple Play 2000 at $1.99

This really makes me wish I would have bought all those Perfect Darks for $1 at TRU
I feel bad trading in my 64 but with 50 dollars I could buy tons of games for GR trade in.

How far do they check through things with Playstations for this? I have two but would like to keep one just incase. The one I want to trade doesn't always read discs and sometimes freezes after a little bit.

i'm about to find out tomorrow. mine works, but i haven't traded in a psx yet. The two n64's i traded in they didn't bother to check out while I was there. I bet if you went when it was busy they would be even less likely to check them out.

Anybody try the deal with a PS2 or Xbox? I scanned the thread and found only N64 and PS1 trade-ins. If so...give details. Are there POX exclusions for these systems also? I thinking about it for my extra PS2. TIA

When I traded in my N64, I was rather shocked to see them hook it up and try it out. Of course, my EB is a larger store in a strip mall with systems hooked up at the front of the store for people to play. Not kiosks but systems hooked up to actual TVs. So they just unhooked the PS2 from one TV, hooked up the N64, and tried out one of the games I traded in. And no, it wasn't busy at the time.

I'll be trading in my PS1 at a cubby-hole mall store on Saturday. My guess is that it'll be rather busy, and they only have kiosks for playing games, so I'm hoping they won't try it out. I figure the odds are in my favor. Though the system worked back in the day, I haven't had it hooked up in years. But who knows what dust and lack of use have done to it.

Even though the N64 deal requires six games to be traded in (versus 5 for the PS1), the N64 is the better choice if you're buying the system at one store to trade in at another. I believe the cheapest used PS1 system is $25 at EB and an N64 is only $18. As fivecardstud mentioned, you can get the N64 and six $1.50 PO games for about $25 total.

What's funny is that on the first page of this thread, people commented that EB would get inundated with used N64s because of this deal. I thought so too, but this deal has been going on for a while now and none of my stores have had N64s in stock this entire time. The lack of available systems is actually limiting my ability to "work" the deal between the stores in my area like I had hoped. On the good side, apparently I'm the only one taking advantage of this deal out here, which should help me avoid suspicion to some extent.

Good luck to all,

-DM

Looks like my old old psx and some crap games are finally going to go bye bye. I just hope that I don't run into any snags like some people here have had.

i tried this today. i bought a n64 and a couple games at one EB and then i traded it in at another EB and it worked. i think i might do this a couple times to get some credit up. since i have an extra psx that my girlfriend found the other day at her house. thanks OP for the great find

So this is actually still alive? I might have to call my local EB Games cause I have a PSX and an N64 I'd like to get rid of. Anyone know where the POX list is so I can check it out?

The ad showed it as going until 7/2/05.

Not sure if there's a POX list, but here's some things that work with the deal: (everything here should be selling for $2.99 or less at EB)

World Driver Championship (* The one expensive one on the list: sells for $3.99)
Revolt
Southpark Chef's Love Shack
F1 World Grand Prix
Rogue Squadron
Twisted Edge Extreme Snowboarding
WCW/NWO Revenge
NBA Jam 99
Ready 2 Rumble Boxing
All-Star Baseball 2K
Waialae Country Club: True Golf Classics
Jet Force Gemini
F1 Pole Position
Lode Runner 3D
Star Wars EP1 Racer
Hey You Pikachu
Triple Play 2000
My local EB says they're doing N64 + 5 games for $25...right...
That's also going on -- both are automatic promos in the system. If you hit total w/ only 5 games it'll come to $25. If you add one more game and hit total, it'll come to $50.
