I don't have a lot of interest in Portal 2. I liked the first one ok, but I'm not big on puzzle games and was getting sick of it by the end. And that was with it being very short, so I can't see buying a full length sequel as I doubt I'd enjoy it much.

The first was basically a nice bonus in a pack I bought just to play the Half-life 2 games I'd never played before. Not something I'd buy and play on it's own.

Yep. RE5 was a ton of fun, but fuck if I'm gonna play that shit by myself.

Same with Gears of War.
Gears games are fine in solo IMO. RE5 was just ok, the partner AI wasn't as good as in Gears and it had more cooperation needed parts than the Gears games.

But otherwise, I mostly agree. I like co-op as it's a way to play with friends and have fun. I don't like competitive multiplayer all that much as I'm just not good at games and don't play to be competitive etc.

But I mainly game buy myself so having a great single player mode is key for me. If it's like Gears and plays fine single player and also has a great co-op mode, then that's the best of both worlds. Some of my best gaming memories are all nighters of Gears 1 and 2 in co-op while pounding beers with a friend or two (taking turns after deaths if there were more than two of us).

Agreed with all of this. That's what Portal was to me, a nice bonus on top of the rest of the Orange Box.

Friend and I played a ton of Gears 1 MP. Friday and Saturday nights, we'd get a big ass pizza, a bunch of stuff to drink, and just play online, 3 or 4 of us in the same room, 2 monitors.

When I hear the between round music, I always think of seeing the sun rising at 6 AM from playing all night.

Yeah I liked Gears a lot both single player and multiplayer. The games don't really feel like they are build entirely around co-op like RE5 or L4D.

And everyone has touched on why I'm worried about Portal 2. I can see myself easily getting tired of that formula if the game is longer than like 3 hours, and at the same time I'm not going to buy a product that's only 3 hours long.

Exactly. They just feel like great shooters that happen to have a great co-op mode.

Rather than games built totally around co-op like RE5, or especially L4D which stinks single player.

Forgot in my post last night that I also played some X-Men Arcade that I bought the other day when it was on sale on XBLA for 200 points. Fun game for $2.50, need to play with other characters and get some of the remaining achievements.

I really wanna play Ocarina of Time for whatever reason. But fuck that 3DS shit. I'll stick to a rom and my PS3 controller, I guess.

RE4 and Code Veronica are going to be Games on Demand? So much for them being reasonably-priced.

People kept saying Portal was short, but it was at least twice as long as what I expected.

True story. I don't think many people bought the Orange Box for Portal. It was a cool addition to greater games. I don't think I could pay 60 bucks for Portal 2. Doesn't matter how expanded it is; the gameplay was kinda gimmicky to me, and was cool for the length it was. Not much more.

Man, I completely forgot about Strania and Castlevania Adventure Rebirth. I should play one of those tonight. Probably Castlevania.

Hopefully Radiant Silvergun HD is soon.

I didn't buy the Orange Box for Portal, but it ended up being my favorite part of the bundle. I'm really looking forward to playing Portal 2. I'm confident enough in Valve that I think they'll do a good job turning it into a full length game. Any other developer and I might be worried, but Valve knows what they're doing.

I think I only bought Orange Box because there wasn't much else on PS3 at the time.

Portal was okay. Played it once and never felt like playing it again. I didn't even care enough to download it when it was free on Steam.

I ended up getting Portal: Still Alive on XBLA when it was on sale for $5 bucks. I really liked it, but like everyone else I don't full-price like it.

I'll pick it up when it's like 20 bucks.

Same. 3DS? Do not want.

I own zero portables at the moment.

This is exactly how I felt. Portal was great because it accomplished what it set out to do, and didn't overstay its welcome.

If Portal was 12 hours long, it would be too long IMO.

How did you forget about them? They are good shit. I need to get Der Strania sometime.

And Radiant Silvergunz HD Remix too.

So then what's the deal with Portal 2? I know NOTHING about it. I'm assuming they've added new mechanics right? Like maybe some FPS stuff to mix in with the Portal stuff? That could be interesting.

All I've seen is that you play as robots, it's co-op, and you're in some jungle.

For $50/$60, it'd better have expanded on the previous formula. I'm thinking a $20 XBLA/PSN/Steam sequel about as long as Portal 1 would've been better. But maybe it'll be super sweet or some shit.

Obviously it's not out, so nobody really knows.

The robot co-op is a separate mode entirely. It has a single player campaign as well.
I'm so happy Radiant Silvergun is coming out on XBLA, I really missed it after selling off my Saturn copy a few years ago.
Sounds like they're doing a good job with this, too. They're not redoing the graphics entirely or fucking with the gameplay. They're just making it higher resolution, adding new, optional stuff, and putting it in English.

I've actually never played Radiant Silvergun despite being a complete shmup whore, so yeah, I'm pretty stoked.

Sounds like the same shit. I couldn't play that game for three times its length. Even if there were some new puzzles, the basic mechanics are the same. And I kinda got enough of that formula in the first. And already working on DLC? fuck man.
Just got back from GameStop, traded in some stuff and picked up Bulletstorm and Dead Space 2. Both had the codes in them used :(
Both are still awesome purchases though. :D

Dead Space 2's multi is meh, but Bulletstorm is a pretty big loss.

What did you expectt? Always something to keep in mind now when buying used EA games.

What is better, Persona 3 or 4? In the mood for a JRPG and it doesn't seem there are any current gen ones so I'm thinking about picking up one of the Persona games.

I still have 4 sititng on my shelf. I sunk quite a bit of time into P3FES I'm having a hard time starting 4 since I know it's going to be such a time sink.

Lost Odyssey.
My roommate is sharing this thread with everyone on facebook. Mostly for the first 9 pages.
I did that for a while... Till my fiancee started reading stuff. :(

I know! Good thing is I went back to GS and they gave me another voucher for both, only DS2's worked, sadly. I'm talking to EA about it now.

Usually around here nobody redeems codes unless it's for a war game.

Gamestop gave you a free voucher for each game? That's a surprise.
Gamestop gave you a free voucher for each game? That's a surprise.
Only for the used copies, and only because I'm very nice to the girl that works there. She's the only one I ever preorder from.
Lost Odyssey.
I like this shockingly arrogant answer, as Lost Odyssey was quite a good game... at least, it was for me as someone who really, really likes the older JRPGs, but can't stand all the NIS shit that we're flooded with today.

But Persona 3 or 4... easily 4. It's basically the same damn thing as 3, but I felt like the story was more compelling, the characters were more unique, and all the mechanics were simply more polished. And in Persona 3, you can't control your teammates in battle, which absolutely broke the game for me. The PSP version of 3 fixed that, but it's ghetto in a lot of other ways.

But seriously jim, I dunno if you'll like it. It is fairly weeaboo.
I basically missed 9 pages of GGT this weekend.

What happened?!
Linkpwns was being a bitch and wasting space.
Damn, I haven't walked into a Gamestop in years. I already have it "bought" on Amazon..

Hmmmmmm..............
I was in GameStop today. Had to give them back a game because it was defective. They gave me a different copy without much hesitation thankfully.

My buddy and I are going to Coachcella as "lifeguards."

I am expected to use the line "This female is in need of mouth to mouth resuscitation."

No eggsbawks means no gears for me.
