I just grew up in the mid 90s + early 2000's, where MP games were larger scaled, had more options, free map packs (they were called patches back then), better communities, mods, and things like you know, recoil.
Compared to now, where most developers have jumped to consoles and embraced smaller maps, a satisfaction system based on rewards and not play, pushed the lone-wolf mentality within their communities, and made gunplay completely uninteresting thanks to how many accommodations are made so every player can perform well -- and of course, they ask you to pay increments of $15 along the way for maps that a 14 year old could create in a night. And now they're so cocky about their dark age shooter designs that they're asking for season passes, as if this is some thrill ride of a shooter that's never been done before.
So I'm only bitter for those reasons, though I'm glad people are getting levels of enjoyment they find worth the price.
I understand those complaints, but the way I look at it is that paid dlc map packs are already a thing, so season passes are at least better than the current model where you get no discount for buying everything.
Plus, it seems most of your complaints are coming from the PC perspective, whereas console games have never had those features you mentioned.
