GGT 156 Once Again Flirts With Disaster.

Is Skyrim fairly well suited to lower end gaming computers on low settings? I can run DAII and ME2 on low on this laptop, thinking of installing Skyrim soon.

Honestly, if your PC (or in your case Laptop) is less powerful than your console, get it on your console of choice.

Its should run pretty decently. Might have to be in 1024x768 with no AA, but it should still run you around 35-40 FPS consistently on low settings. Though laptop gaming, expect to stop every 90 minutes because of the terrible heat flow those things have.

I know it's been pretty well covered at this point, but if anyone has any questions or wants me to try shit out let me know.

One of the funniest things about laptop gaming to me is that for the price of a good gaming laptop (that'll get 60 minutes of battery life, mind you), you could buy a competent laptop for business/school stuff AND a gaming rig.
 
Pretty much. Hi end laptops are crazy expensive. A quality gaming rig is ~$500 and a business-class laptop is a bit more than that.

Yes, but then you can't embed -- I think if you use it on CAG and CAG renders it viewable in page, then it will automatically start at the beginning when you click play -- you'd have to just post a URL, but then less people are likely to see the preview and click. ;)

I can see where he'd be annoying if you let him get to his stupidly overpowered turnabout mode, but I'm sure plenty of ways to stop his shenanigans will emerge... unless he's too good at zoning so you can't touch him.

I should have my copy on Tuesday when it gets here from amazon. I'm in the mood for a 3D platformer, so I'm glad to hear it turned out good.

I agree! I really don't like the whole Sunday release thing. I totally forgot that it even came out today until I got a call from GameStop about being low on those preorder keychains.

It is really great, btw. It's short, but there's apparently a lot of replayability after you beat it for the first time. The only thing I can honestly say that I don't like about it is that it uses the same boss battle too many times.
 
Not liking the MW3 multiplayer at all. Maps are terrible, lots of lag, spawning near enemies etc. Regret buying the hardened edition, but at least I hadn't redeemed the elite codes as my main Live account got hacked and is locked down while they are investigating so I was able to sell those and get some cash back.

Still need to play the campaign and check out spec ops but want to wait and do that when I get my account back so I don't lose achievements.

I haven't had a problem with lag, and I don't dislike the maps, but the spawning near enemies thing is a real problem for me too. I think it's amplified by the fact that some of the maps are just too small, and COD players are constantly running all over the place like kids with ADHD.

Besides, I already platinum'ed Dark Souls and am waiting for the patch before I consider doing anything else or starting a new character and I'm on a break from Batman Arkham City.

I was half interested in the 3DS mario game, however, I remembered I haven't really liked a 3D mario since Mario 64... so I don't think it'd be good enough to sway me into considering a 3DS purchase. Besides, I'll wait for the 3DS lite with the integrated 2nd analong nub. 8)
 
Woot I'm in Berkeley, CA now! Going to start looking for an apartment tomorrow. Got UMvC3 pre-ordered today, as well as some shopping for some other items I needed that I either didn't bring or were accidentally packed with the stuff on the moving truck, and I also got to the gym. So today was really productive.

My friends are trying to get me to play League of Legends though...

Frank is one of my favorite new characters. He is really fun to use and feels a lot more natural than his weird appearance in TvC. The leveling up gimmick is weird and I'm still getting a feel for it, but once you get him to 3 or so he's a pretty big bad-ass.

Nova I can't get a feel for - I just am not sure how to do much besides a few basic flight cancel combos. I didn't go into his mission modes, though.

If I didn't have to wake up in 5 hours I'd post more.

My family's been asking me what kind of things I wanted for Xmas and I realized something from that: I've kind of lost interest in games recently.

Over the summer I played a lot of handheld stuff, but the only console games I really played much of were Time Crisis and the Uncharted 3 beta. I barely played any games at all this entire semester until Skyrim came out. I've bought about 4 games this year and one of them (LA Noire) I never even started playing.

Now I'm looking at my online wishlists and stuff and realizing that I can actually come up with very games I would even ask for for Christmas gifts. All I can come with for sure is Uncharted 3, and maybe No More Heroes on PS3? Maybe The 3rd Birthday, did that end up being good?

I feel like none of the big games out now have much appeal to me.

Saint's Row - Never been into it, still haven't finished Gay Tony anyway if I want to play that kind of game.
Modern Warfare 3 - No interest in dat calladuty
Ultimate MVC3 - Barely played MVC3 after a month
Dead Rising OTR - Already have Dead Rising 2 and from what I've heard this isn't really worth it
MGS HD - Never really liked the gameplay in MGS to be honest
Arkham City - Never finished Arkham Asylum, still have that to play through

Mario 3D Land looks interesting but not new-handheld interesting.

And besides just being disinterested in new games I feel really just no drive to play the games I have, even though a lot of them are AAA titles. I don't know, just feeling really ambivalent towards gaming altogether.

Skyrim is great though.
 
I rented Skyrim, and it's okay so far. I want to make sure I don't start any of the Missions that'd give me Daedric Artifacts since they're missable. Other than that, it's been okay besides the texture issue.

Oh, and I beat Layton 3 yesterday. Really got crazy at the end.

EDIT: How the hell is Skyrim only 3.8gb?
