Finished Ass's Creed Brotherhood. Ending was like "Uh, WTF? That's it?" Really had a blast with the game as a whole though. ^__^

Now I need to cop Revelations for cheap. Not doing any future parts in it.
That's a pretty narrow point of view. Your comment makes the assumption that all of GAF takes themselves seriously or are developers. I'm neither and I post regularly on GAF. Unless I take myself seriously and don't know it. :p

Oh, and btw, my favorite ship for Jamestown is in that DLC you got me, so thanks again!
I don't think it's a narrow view at all. The general consensus here is that the primary benefits to posting on GAF are the devs and "serious" gamers. Yeah sure there are people on GAF that aren't that, but because of the obtuse way these people became part of the community, how can we assume that GAF is representative of any mainstream group of gamers or potential gamers? My only point is, if devs are so active on GAF and getting all their critical feedback from it, I don't think that's necessarily a good thing.

And you're welcome. ^_^

GAF is full of crazies. Like there's a bit out there and then there's insane psycho obsessive nutjob.

Plus the mods there tend to side with their crazy ass views. It's lulz.

I told you the desmond puzzles are the best part about revelations, unfortunately.

Besides, theres like 5 puzzles and maybe 3 cutscenes for him in the entire game. The whole thing feels like half an AC game.

I wouldn't say you take yourself seriously. But I'd definitely say you're a hardcore gamer and taking gaming pretty seriously. But not to the extent of being annoying about it like a lot of people on GAF! :D

Yeah, it just seems like their are way too many people over their who are just always itching for a flame-filled argument. Hobbies aren't worth arguing over IMO. *shrugs* I don't care enough about what someone else thinks about a game or movie or tv show to get into heated arguments over that kind of stuff.
Hobbies aren't worth arguing over IMO.
Hobbies like gaming, yeah, I'll agree with you there. I mean, do you think any of us are serious when we argue about it or I go on my RPG rants? I don't give a fuck, you enjoy what you want and I'll enjoy what I want. Everybody wins and we have some fun in the process.

However, when it comes to IT related topics, I love a good debate. That's also my career field, though, so I guess it's a bit different.

Yeah, career field isn't a hobby. :D

I'll argue a ton about stuff related to my career. Hell, that's what academia is really about. Publishing research which is challenging competing theories etc., so arguing is part of the job description!

I was just saying it's silly for people, like those on GAF, that get pissed off at others opinions on shit like games, movies, music, novels etc. etc. Not just discussing and having fun discussing the topics. But getting physically pissed off and ranting and raving. That's just silly as hobbies are meant to be fun and relaxing, not something that add more anger and stress to your life. Plus it just silly to get pissed off about what random people say on the internet in general.

But to some:

Can be.

But debating doesn't equal getting pissed off and exploding in nerd rage on the internet. :D

Anything that physically pisses you off isn't a hobby IMO.

Unless said person is a deranged masochist, correct?

Completely unrelated to everything here, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo has been an awesome read thus far. Since I couldn't fall back asleep I decided to read, and bam the mystery was starting to unfold. Now I am about 150 pages out from completing the book. Sad that the author passed away, his style is intricate with the combing of two stories ongoing at once. At least there are two more to read. Please no spoilers!

Rage is passion!

Anyways, it's called a forum because it is a place to debate and share opinions, and conflicting views is what makes this place interesting. I think you're simply annoyed with people who are assholes, and they tend to ruin most hobbies they interfere with.

We're debating right now, ya? But I'm not going, "dmaul is a lil bitch because he bought a game console to play blu-rays. 360/wii 4 life." That's not even an argument, and doesn't belong on a forum. I like CAG a lot because it's a community built around saving money, so I know the people here are going to be more mature and open to good discussions. And it's also possible to just casually chat here, unlike some places.

Yeah, I loved that series of books. The 2nd one is probably my favorite.

Definitely sad that that the author died so young. :(

Also, notice how the PS3 vs 360 thread that popped up in general has gotten no serious attention. On any other forum that shit would be dozens of pages long by now. We don't even need mods for garbage like that, we just let it die naturally.

edit: noooo dmaul you bumped it!

That's what I was saying. Debating is fine and can be fun.

People getting pissed off, ranting and raving and being an asshole to others over a debate on something as silly as video games is not. And that happens far too much on GAF from the little time I've spent over there.

It doesn't happen too much here, and the mods are pretty good about banning those kinds of people.

And that's a good example.....but I'll admit that I bumped it more as a test to see if anyone goes into a rage over it. :D

After how late you were up with me and Uraizen last night, I'll bet.
I just finished "Bossypants". Kindle is awesome.
.
Yep. The Kindle (and e-books in general) are fantastic. I've read a ton more since getting a Kindle about 3 years ago.

Just so convenient having instant access to books, not getting stuck with a paper book you'll only read once and have to store or get rid of, or hassling with the library selection and due dates etc.

I realize that a kindle is much more convenient, but I just love the feeling of opening a new book and turning the pages too much.

That's fair enough. I've never had any attachment to physical books and mainly viewed them as a hassle as I seldom re-read and I've moved fairly often over the years. And few things are more of a pain in the ass to move than book as they make for heavy boxes!

After getting used to Kindle, I find books awkward to read with having to hold them with both hands to keep them open, hard to see the text near the binding when near the beginning or end of the book etc.

I do still prefer paper books for my work-related reading though as they're much easier to highlight and jot notes in, quickly flip through when referencing something and so on.

I bought my friend for his bday a kindle. He loves it. I just don't have the means or reason to purchase a kindle for myself.

craving a book right now myself, maybe i'll pick up one by hitchens -- poor guy died a couple weeks ago =[

or just get myself reacquainted with the hobbit

I just woke up with drool all over my face. Awesome.

I love reading. Though sadly, I seldom read fiction anymore. Can't remember the last fiction book I read.

Indeed. I went to bed at 7 AM, got up a few times in there.

We crazy like that.

I like the kindle as well, I've read a lot more on my commutes to and from work both here and back in NYC once I got one (although I did read books before that as well, and some manga as well). I still like to read comics more in the physical medium though, just seems more natural to view the art in the form, and I hate on how on devices with smaller screens they do that flow way of reading that doesn't really allow you to see the composition of the entire page.

Basically I'm wrapping up Dune now (just reading some the appendices stuff which is all kind of interesting). Then I'm debating reading more books in the Dune series or switching over and reading the first book in the Game of Thrones series.

The Game of Throne Series (A Song of Ice and Fire) is fantastic. Especially the first 3 books. Books 4 and 5 weren't nearly as good as the first 3, but still very good.

Ya, I've heard a lot of praise for the series so I've been kind of interested in reading it, and it scares me less to hear that the later books aren't quite as good, vs The Wheel of Time series which I was also mildly interested in but is 14 books long and it sounded like a lot of fans of it weren't too pleased with some of the later books in it, which I think is scary when you are committing to something so long. But I haven't heard anything too negative about The Game of Thrones so I thought I'd give a try.

Beat you to it.

Hipster, I do all my reading via e-books if given the option.

Nobody even cares at this point, everybody is set in their ways. It's not even worth the energy to argue over. Either that or everybody is too busy arguing in the deals forum.

I haven't read the Wheel of Time so I can't compare.

This is slated to be wrapped up in 7 books, so hopefully it won't get so unwieldy. Though the author did recently say he hadn't ruled out an 8th book if he couldn't get the story wrapped up in 2 more books.

Books 4 and 5 aren't bad by any means. They just spend to much time on new and secondary characters and thus don't move the overall plot forward very much until the very end parts of book 5.

With the HBO series, the author at least has some pressure to finish the story before the series catches up to the books he's written!

I agree that comics are still better in paper form. Actually trade paperback or hardcover form--there's no way I can justify $4-5 a single issue (or whatever insane price it is now) anymore. :p

But I got an e-pile of e-books for my kindle that I need to read through (my cousin knew some chick at Borders and snagged a shit ton of titles before they went under). I'm currently reading a biography of a WWI Fighter Ace. It's a lot easier to deal with an e-pile than a real pile lol.
